As the week progresses I remove items from lunch and dinner, then lunch altogether, like some sort of diet minimalism. Yesterday I only ate 2 items. I'm not doing it on purpose it just happens every week that I do this. Having a cheat day tomorrow to see if that helps my headspace.

Nope, just a random fatass who started on the long hard road. I do allow myself a cheat meal every now and then, and when I do, it's usually a nice juicy steak. Can't eat that for a daily diet though, so I'm looking at alternatives that are low cal and high in protein. Eggs and cottage cheese seem to fit the bill just right.

imo playing vidya is absolutely fine if it's a conscious decision made on your part. For me, playing dark souls 3 currently and it really helps keep my mind off of binging, particularly when my insulin sensitivity is going crazy. Just know the tradeoffs and then make the decision you think is best for yourself and your goals. All you get from fat is energy and the nutrients that are fat soluble. However, most of them aren't, and only enter your system as they're absorbed from food. I've done prolonged fasting, and I can tell you from experience that it's not a healthy thing. A few days is fine, maybe even a week if you've got good nutrition otherwise, but going longer than that with nothing but pure water is not a path towards health. At least take supplements to get the rda of the basic vitamins and minerals.

If you water fast for that long, you will lose a lot of weight. No doubt. But it's very unhealthy mindset man. You're just moving from binging to fasting, unhealthy habit to unhealthy habit. You need to gain a healthy relationship with you food and your body. Just read the sticky and eat at a deficit for a while with healthy food that you like. At least try to learn something meaningful like, and when it works, you'll be genuinely glad that you did. Trust me.

What do you guys think? This is about as low a kilojoule content as I can go while managing hunger but thoughts on my actual food choices?

What are some good ideas for very low calorie but satisfying lunches? At the moment I just have a few small snacks (grapes, cup-of-soup, cheese + crackers) spaced out over a few hours which is fine at work but my macros are all skewed.

I have tried things like canned tuna for protein but it has absolutely zero impact on my hunger

If you study the chemical composition and reaction of the body to creatine (mono is the most common for males), you'll notice it works by dumping a water molecule inside the muscle tissue which enlarges it and helps basically stretch out the muscle during effort, which in return gives that external look of a big pump going on, and is claimed to accelerate muscle growth in the long run (by stretching muscle tissue and filling it in with water until it grows).
Then there are those who say creatine gives you a puffy look, as expect with the water retention that comes with it, so expect a few pounds of water weight, and the bloated look.
There are different sorts of creatine, like ethyl ester HCL which is mostly used by women, that binds the creatine to a salt molecule rather than a water one. I've heard this helps resolve the water retention and puffiness issue, and proposes a leaner, more vascular look.
This is what I could make out of a lot of reviews and a chemical engineer specialized in nutrition and fitness's (who also designs supplements for major brands) opinion.
So basically creatine is more of a placebo aesthetic enhancer that'll probably make you feel like you're making a lot of progress, and thus will trigger a boost in motivation, rather than an actual muscle building supplement.

it's basic mathematics, I don't have the stats and can't be fucked doing it for you but I'll give you a general formula to go by.

Protip : you have to keep checking through measurements that you're not losing more muscle than fat, if so, reconsider the deficit and macros and adjust until you are at a steadier pace (the calculation is basically to take the amount in kg your muscle mass loss expectancy is, then divide it into a timeframe of when you want to reach that goal, for exemple no more than 0.300g loss of muscle/month) then if you see that by your measurements your muscle mass % has decreased under that estimated 20% over a period of time guideline, tweak deficit on the higher side to slow down the process and conserve as much as you can.

Sounds difficult, but if you sit down and do the math, it won't take more than 15 minutes and you'll have a mathematical statistical overview of what you should be doing/seeing as a result for the rest of the cut. Same process applied inversely to bf% when bulking.

I'd try doing what I did first and making cakes on the side. At first it was just word of mouth from some friends but then I made little cards and sold that shit more for real. Sure do you. I know first job I went right away from foh to cakes/decorating and then after a year at that place I put in for a higher paying downtown place and was able to bake there. But I was only able to move that quick because I knew so much about baking from my own experience.

A lot of owners hate to teach you so if it's between teaching a dishwasher how to frost vs hiring someone new that already knows that shit they're gonna usually pick new. That's why I say maybe pick up some books, watch some bakers on youtube frost and knead to pick up some baking techniques, practice a lot of recipes on your own and try fucking them up on purpose just to see what happens. Like switching baking soda for baking powder will give a darker color and sometimes less rise depending on the acidity of your recipe (it's why if you use buttermilk it's usually with baking soda but if it's just regular milk use baking powder, but often you use a mix of the two).

Like yeah go in for it but just realize it helps to learn a lot of shit on your own because restaurants are busy and some people hate teaching and won't show you shit.

I'm 6'6" 250lbs at 24.4% bodyfat after being 280lbs at the end of January, but I've been stuck in a fat loss rut for the past 3-4 weeks. I was losing 1.8lb per week at 2400-2500 cals, but I've been see sawing over and under 250lbs recently. I've tried cutting my cals to 2100-2300, walking to the gym (5k round trip), and started walking my dad's dog of an evening for half an hour. But the scales still won't budge- I'd hoped to get down to 235lbs for my PHD graduation, but that seems out of the question now.


I'm tempted to add a 5k run 3x per week, but I'm concerned that it'll ruin my gym performance (I lift fairly heavy and have made some prs during my fat loss). I've tried more exercise, read all the faqs, cut my intake, but I'm still not changing.

I think a lot of trouble fat people have is that they see any weight loss as healthy.
Being at a healthy bodyfat is important for health and for most happiness, but health is far more complicated than how much fat you have on your body.

I understand the frustration of people who have been fat all their life but extreme measures will hurt your health and will fuck something up. It's far better for your mind and body to accustom yourself to a healthy lifestyle and stick to it, not water fast for a month straight.
