Well generally it will mean you will sleep more, lose muscle mass, and in the end (assuming you keep it up) be really skinny fat.
>>
>>41843379
i will start lifting when i lose half the weight i want to lose though
>>
>>41843383
You can't escape the cutting bulking cycle. You will have to eat more and gain weight to get the muscle. Also expect yourself to become extremely weak.
>>
>>41843348
oh god /fat/ Today I went to the swimming pool alone, and there was a lifeguard; Solid 8/10, tall, tann, cute as hell. He sold me the ticket and out of the blue started up a little conversation with me. In the end the cheeky cunt even WINKED at me
I looked like shit, no makeup, still fat, dressed like a mom, all greasy from the sunscreen, and STILL this perfect boie gave me a bit of his attention.

I am not used to this
It fucking made my day
This is how it feels /fat/, this is what you get when you lose weight.

I'm going to hit the gym even harder this week so when I go to the pool next week he will like me even more

You are going to be unhappy still thin. When you bend over your belly is still going to look horrible, Your ass skin is going to hang off your body.
>>
>>41843438
damn anonette, you must have felt really validated in your progress! Keep going, you're worth it, all of this is worth it.
I'm also a femanon and getting really close to my goal weight, but it gets harder as those are the last few pounds.
Also once you're more comfortable with your current weight, get you a boyfriend that wants to lift with you, so that you can become fit together and you'll value each other even more that way.
I know that because after talking so much about health, nutrition and exercise to my boyfriend (who liked me as the chubby bunny I was), he finally decided to make a change for himself (he's gotten a bit chubby but more on the builtfat side since he works a physical job), and he's going to enrol at the gym tomorrow actually, and start lifting weights, and I made him a meal plan (long distance for now, or else I would meal prep for him as I prep for mine), and he's been really supportive of my goals, and encouraging me with kind compliments when I succeed at something, and supporting me when I struggle.

Good luck anonette!
>>
>>41843438
>he will like me even more
And what if he doesn't. Lift for yourself.

>>41843438
Although I am not one for demeaning the desires of anonette here to be able to please her lifeguard's eyes, and for it to become something more, anon here has a point. Do it for you anonette, and then think about others. If this guy doesn't show much more interest, don't lose faith, there will be plenty after that, and eventually the one. Be happy and love yourself, before loving others, or expecting their love back.
Best wishes.
>>
>>41843557
Well color me impressed anon, you done did it. Proved to the world you could make it. Officially made it, son. You should frame that progress picture as a reminder of what true power you have in your life, also post pic please, I'd like to see the legend for itself!

>>
wait what's wrong with counting exercise calories?

i always overestimate any food im not totally sure of and that's been a way for me to stay sane while eating 1500 or less a day. i'm down to 210 from 230 in a little over a month.

>>
>>41844125

sorry. meant to say a way to stay sane when going a little bit over my alotted 1500 a day.
>>
>>41844125
Count them. Don't eat them back. If you have to, not more than half of them. They are grossly inaccurate.
>>
>>41844112
I wouldn't say too far gone is a thing, there are success stories of people who have been 600+ pounds and people who are hardcore meth/heroin addicts.
You can't really 'write-off', you have one life and in 5 years you could either be thinking the same thing or "I'm sure glad I'm healthier now".

In uni I would tutor people, most of them would be nurses. The people I tutored were usually at least 40 years old and worked in retail, trying to get a decent job for the first time in their life. Had a 60 some year old woman in a GEP class I took too.

Can I ask weight/height and drugs? Genuinely curious, I know people who have lost massive amounts of weight and stopped abusing some of the most addictive drugs.
>>
>>41844127
Short cardio to warm up before lifting. Longer cardio on days off for calorie burning
>>
>>41844125
Factoring in calories burned from exercise into your TDEE is not a great idea since the estimations from various programs and websites are really just that; estimations. You'll never be completely sure if the number it says you've burned is really that accurate, and some estimations can be REALLY off-base (a lot of cardio machines will say you've burned double the amount of more practical estimates, for instance).

May as well not factor it into what you eat at all since it's never going to really be all that reliable.
>>
>>41844186

Is it harmful to do longer cardio before lifting or is it just an energy thing? The cardio is pretty mild, only walking.
>>
>When the DOMS comes in and you don't exerciser for a week.

>>
>>41844331
Well 155 is a healthy weight for your height, not saying you're in shape but it's definitely not a bad place to "start".
Really don't know what advice to give, you know you would be healthier to not try to get off those drugs but it's really hard, especially if the people around you are doing them.

Still should never think you can't try though, many of us lost our prime years to being a fatass, and while being older and in shape isn't as great as being in prime and in shape it sure beats being fat and unhealthy.

Hope you end up doing okay, I'm not addicted to any one substance but if I didn't get wrecked (psychs, weed, alcohol) every 2 weeks or so I wouldn't manage well. I know your problems are far worse but I'm not going to pretend life is great and that without drugs it will be all sunshine, but if you are admitting you have a problem you know to quit.

>>41844264
Lighter starting weights. If you're getting DOMS that cripple you for a week then you're over exerting yourself too quickly. Go back to bare basics, just the bar if need be. Work up slowly. DOMS will be a thing, but not nearly as deliberating. By the time you're making headway into weights, your body will have adjusted to the routine and DOMS will be minor if at all

Being outside, covering distance and seeing places is the main attraction of cycling for me, I imagine sitting in place just pedaling while staring at a wall must be torture.
You can ride at any weight, but it does get easier the lighter you are. Also word of caution, cycling makes you hungry af and riding a lot does not mean you can eat whatever you want, I actually got fat when I first started riding seriously because I wasn't counting calories and just assumed that since I'm now "active", I get an all-you-can-eat pass.
>>
I have cerebral palsy. I'm lucky enough because I didn't get the ultra-deluxe-triple-meat-lovers-special-preorder CP bundle that a lot of kids get (it includes epilepsy, learning difficulties, bad vision and issues with communication). My type is called "spastic "diplegi"" (I couldn't find the term in english) which mainly affects the muscle control of my arms and legs.

It's not too bad. I can walk on my own, but it gets difficult after a while and I'm pretty slow. I've been excused from my PE classes since first grade because of it. Some time last year I decided to stop eating like shit, and i'm down to 75kg from 90kg(ish), which was pretty bad considering I'm only 5'4''.

When I reach my goal of 55 (or 50, depending on how I look), I'll be skinnyfat. I don't want this but it seems to be no other way. My doctor is very happy with my weight loss, my cholesterol and glucose levels are normal, and he sees no reason to figure out a way I can start lifting. I can swim for a bit and that's it.

It's... difficult. I want to look good and not just "okay with clothes on", but I guess this is fate.

Be strong /fat/. If I can make it, so can you. All progress is better than none.

You don't even have to lose weight senpai (you came off as being at least 200 pounds overweight in your first post). You even had the discipline to lose 150 pounds, not many people have that, so you're definitely not a lost cause. However, your issues are mostly psychological, and I don't think the /fat/ thread can really help you with those. Maybe seek professional help with your drug addiction.

It seems like you don't actually feel good when you look good, you just feel bad when you look bad. I'm saying this because I feel like it'd be a million times harder for me to overeat once I've reached my goal, since I'd feel good about my looks, and I wouldn't want to ruin it.
Btw it seems to me that you just want to "be happy", but don't have a concrete goal. Like you don't have an interest you want to pursue or something, which would be the main thing in your life.

Diet mostly consisting of white rice (fuck brown), granola bars, shrimp wheat pasta w/olive oil, and chicken or fish tacos w/lots of veggies. I have a picky diet and only eat certain things so I don't really have the taste or the money to try lots of different things.

Exercise: 3 mile minimum walks twice a week and 3 days at the gym doing various lifts and light cardio. 1 off day.

>How the fuck do thin people not feel the need to always eat?
As you lose more weight you have less of an appetite.

For example above 220lbs I can eat a pound of spaghetti.
At 170lbs a half pound is good enough.
At 150lbs I couldn't eat even a half pound. Probably closer to a third of a pound.

Foods You Miss:

Hard mode - name things that aren't unhealthy but are just too calorie dense/not nutritionally beneficial enough to justify ever eating on a cut

1. Nuts, particularly cashews. I've tried multiple times, for years really, to not binge on nuts. But I do it every time. So I simply can't have them. They're the perfect snack: eat them with your hands, clean, crunchy af, unique and addicting fatty flavor

2. Peanut butter on whole grain bread. I think PB is a bit overrated. The nutritional value is not that great and the calories are insane. Whole grain bread has decent fiber, but also way too calorie dense. But as a pair, it's one of the best snacks of all time.

3. Corn. I miss sweet, salty corn in a meal. But it's by far the most useless vegetable.

4. Fruit, especially fruit cups. They're not that beneficial from a nutritional stand point. There's going to be a 0 calorie vegetable that does it better. Needless to say, syrup completely negates the concept of fruit cups although they're so damn delicious when ice cold and soaked in that "juice".

Creatine increases the amount of water in your body, right? It won't physically hinder fat loss, but you might get discouraged by the readings on the scale. If you have the discipline to stick to your calories even though the scale shows bullshit, then go for it. Btw, what is the purpose of taking creatine? I don't know much about supplements besides protein powder.

If you watch your calories then there's no way you're not losing fat. Just power through it until you start losing weight again, maybe decrease your food intake to make yourself calm about it.

If you really wanna see the numbers change, then start weighing yourself daily, preferably after waking up and taking a piss or shit, and before eating or drinking anything. The numbers won't go down every day, but you'll see an obvious trend. But don't worry, there is no way your bodyfat is not decreasing when you only eat 1500 kcal/day at your weight.

this is exactly what I do, up 2-4lbs over the course of a day and down 2-4lbs the morning after.

That's exactly the problem, they don't try to lose weight on their own volition, they rely on the help they get and lack the willpower to do anything themselves.

Lost almost 70 pounds, hit a plateau. I feel terrible, i've lost so much muscle i'm like a skellyman trapped in a fatsuit.
I don't want to stop, i'd rather die than stay a fatty boom boom. But i am so weak i can hardly do every stuff anymore.
I've lost weight and gained it back several times, i think this is what caused me to enter skelefat mode. I want to overcome this, and my apathy.
What do /fat/?

5'8 167lbs. bmi is like 25 something or another, I'm just not sure if I should lose weight and then gain muscle or gain muscle and then cut ...? was a fit bro in HS but I dropped to 120lbs after a couple of years of heroin abuse, got clean for 2 years now and rubberbanded in the opposite direction. Now that I'm trying to get shit under control again help would be appreciate ;3 we're all gonna fucking make it.
>>
>>41857760
>weak
Are you weak in the sense that you can lift huge weights, or are you feeling weak and tired? If it's the second, then your deficit is probably too high, if it's the first, then you could try maintaining your weight while gaining strength for a couple months. You could even keep losing weight while gaining some strength if you make sure you get enough protein and don't go overboard with your deficit.

>>41857896
>BMI is 25
Start by losing weight, you don't even have to lose that much. Btw, that was my starting BMI too, and it's 21 now.
>>
>>41858004
Weak and tired, and i can see the loss in muscle and feel it, everything hurts and i tire out immediately from even light work.
Probably my deficit then, i've been going at around 1000kcal a day, when i should be at around 3000 to maintain my weight.
I've been making sure to get enough protein though, and i really don't want to postpone my weightloss if i can help it. Seeing my weight go down was literally the only thing i had going for me. I tried intermittent fasting and upped the cardio to try and break the plateau, it didn't work.
What is the maximum deficit i should be aiming for?
>>
>>41858132
>Weak and tired, and i can see the loss in muscle and feel it, everything hurts and i tire out immediately from even light work.
Holy shit man, that has nothing to do with muscle loss, and everything to do with your diet. Losing muscle doesn't make you feel tired.
>hit a plateau
You're still very fat based on your maintenance being 3000 kcal/day, so you probably haven't actually hit a plateau in terms of fat loss, your scale just shows some bullshit number because of water weight or whatever. There's no way you're not losing fat while being on a 1000 kcal/day diet and exercising.
By the way, "hitting a plateau" is very vague, how long have you been stagnating?
>What is the maximum deficit i should be aiming for?
I think you should try switching to 1500 kcal/day, maybe 1800 if you still feel tired. You definitely shouldn't switch to something retarded like 2500 because muh 500 kcal/day deficit, you may even end up gaining weight that way if your TDEE estimate was incorrect.
>>
>>41853388
TDEE is what you burn in a day. Everything, breathing, exercise, etc.

My fitness pal tries to calculate this for you, but it isn't accurate. You need to learn how to do it yourself.

Relatives who I don't see that often are currently visiting.

>"3 years ago you were really slim"
>"You looked fit"
>"What weight are you now?"

I'm a pretty strong person but this shit hits me both motivationally but also through depression.

I now think back to the times when I was slim and realise that the attention I got off girls was actually them fancying me. I'm a fucking fool. I literally had a girl I lived with stare at my body constantly after showers. She'd even be waiting outside the bathroom.

Another girl I knew couldn't look at me without blushing.

Sorry for this blog type post but it keeps me going. At least when I get slim again I'll be mentally ok this time, back then I suffered enormously from anxiety and OCD.

For all the peeps who have a small modicum of willpower while also being able to enjoy awesome food, I highly recommend Eat. Stop. Eat by Brad Pilon.

In short: 1-2 24-hour fasts per week and then eat as normal (of course using god-damn common sense and eating somewhat healthfully). Really, it's not has hard as you might think. And it also makes you think about your relationship with food.

Add in 3-4 workouts per week to maintain/build muscle mass.

I just do intermittent fasting. So if I'm really feeling a food that I want to eat, I eat it and don't feel bad. And I can still manage to be at a weekly caloric deficit, because life is too short to not enjoy foods you like.

Even though i stayed around 1000 kcal/day i just started to feel really shit and stopped losing weight completely. The "plateau" has lasted for around a month now.
I'll try switching to 1500kcal then, i don't want to stop if i can help it, despite feeling like shit it doesn't bother me as long as it works.
TDEE should be around 3000, assuming i don't work out at all. And higher when i do cardio, though it hurts like hell when i do it now. Rowing for 10-15 minutes with high intensity completely destroys me now, even though it just got me sweaty in the beginning.
While the muscle mass might be unrelated, it certainly is beginning to affect me in other ways. Shit sucks man.

Also, took a while to reply because i nodded off
