I used to have that. Switch from quality and taste to volume, have a salad and a big glass of water before every meal (only green leaves and tomato or so). Plan every meal ahead; serve it all in front of you, the simple sight of food and "all" you have to eat is satiating by itself; drink tea/coffee after you are done and brush your teeth. I was having the same issue. I am in an old apartment and the floor is a little warped do to water damage from a long time ago. If I moved the scale or moved on the scale it would change the numbers by several pounds. I ended up getting a large cutting board and putting it under the scale. I went up 7lb but now the weight is consistent. Try putting something stable under the scale and if that doesn't work, but a new scale. $20 is worth the piece of mind that you are getting a correct weigh in. I drive myself crazy when I think I went up and I didn't.

Some guys on here will tell you that you are going slow but 5lb a month is a very healthy weight loss. One of the biggest reasons people yo-yo is because they dieted too hard and are not able to keep up with that lifestyle, which all of these needs to be an actual lifestyle. I can live off of 1800 calories a day but I see some of the guys here who are down to 1200 calories and there is no way you can sustain that.

Keep up the good work. Go for more. Find a place that you can live happily where you are not constantly feeling like you are starving but also not eating like a pig.

I started a little heavier than you and I also tried 1200. It did not work for me. (I actually tried a lot of stuff from no carb to vegetarian etc..) at 1200 I constantly felt hungry and all I would think about all day was food, which is not healthy.

I eat 1800 calories which is working out perfect for me. If you are 6' and 310lb, 1800calories will be 2lb a week. You want something that will make you happy but still meet your goals. At 1800 calories I get 3 decent sized healthy meals a day and I often find myself a few hundred under calories. When I was at 1200 calories I only got two meals and felt like shit waiting for the next meal or eating too soon and not being able to sleep because I was hungry.

I walk on a treadmill for about 3 and half hours a day at 3mph on a 5% incline. It's great. It lets me eat 2300 calories a day and still lose weight.
