Last thread at 300lbs >>40806430 (Cross-thread)

Who is /fat/ for? Fat members of /fit/ who want to learn how to eat right, lift weights, and lose fat. Here we ask others for advice and give moral support to one another. We all know how hard it first is and we all have to get through it to better ourselves. At the end of the day this is a support general whose goal is to help and motivate the chubby channers who need it. Please be warned that there are some chronic idiots who post in this general giving horrible advice that doesn't work for them or anybody. If you see something that contradicts what the sticky says, ignore it.

Not sure if you're genuinely asking this question as the answer is very obvious, but I'll help just invade you're genuinely unsure.
Fill yourself up on your usual healthy proteins and fats, maybe with some rice or whatever. Get full to bursting. Then at the restaurant try to eat nothing at all, but if that seems genuinely impossible, or if you'll be offending others by not eating try something small and simple like an omelette. I'm not too familiar with Chinese buffets, and I certainly never try to eat low cal when I eat out, but I'm sure there are good options. Veggie stir fry? Egg? Grilled meats? Avoid food in sauces. If you're having a drink, make it a gin and tonic etc. rather than a beer, Alfa or juice, or better yet have a water.
Stay strong mate.

Alternatively, depending on how much you've eaten today, have whatever you want. Then don't eat anything else all day.

I fasted until 8pm I yesterday then ate a whole pizza. Then had some white fish and an egg and went to bed. Still only 1500 ish cals and I got to enjoy my favourite food. You don't have to deprive yourself or tasty food, just be smart about it.

It is with that attitude. Switch to some foul tasting diet swill, and then give that up (along with all sweets for a while). Buy yourself a water bottle that is of similar proportion and use that to drink out of.

I think that this year will be focused on surgeries and light whole body workouts between the surgeries. Next year is going to be the start of proper lifting.

I will be 29 this summer and I think that by the time I hit 33 I should look quite nice. At least thats the goal.

Your body primarily uses carbs as energy and when not used they are converted into glucose and stored as fat. Ironically, eating high fat/protein and fewer carbs is proven to reduce bodyfat.

Dietary fat =/= bodyfat

>>
>>40821916
>Dietary fat =/= bodyfat
This is how deluded people on the internet are.

You can biopsy a person's fat to determine what they ate. That's how efficiently dietary fat is stored in adipocytes.

When you eat excess calories, to a certain extent your body increases its metabolism to burn off some of them. Extra carbs not used for energy then have to go through a conversion process to be turned into fat. Your body runs on carbs. It's our primary energy source.

>>

those are drainage bottles. You have pipes coming out of your body along the scars of the body lift. These pipes have bottles with negative pressure attached to them, that way all the wound fluids are getting sucked out of your body... It is as comfortable as it sounds.

A lot people cut out fat when they diet instead of counting calories, which puts you in the habit of eating more, where as if you eat a higher percentage of fat, you can eat less over all and still get the same amount of calories. Also something something about fat having more vitamins or whatever.

there is always a point of no return. You should emphasize that you had "a bit" of loose skin. During my surgery they removed over 4 kg of skin tissue... trust me, surgery is the only option in cases like this
>>
>>40822049
Calorie sources matter. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

And you can easily prove it to yourself. Do you think eating a stick of butter is as healthy as eating a salad, a sweet potato, a bowl of oatmeal, and a bowl of brown rice? They have the same calories, so they're just as good for you right?

No one would argue that a calorie is a calorie.
>>

Who the hell told you fat has more vitamins?

It's the exact opposite. Ordinary fat has no vitamins or micronutrients. Just fucking google 1 cup of olive oil. It has a little iron and nothing else. Now google 1 cup of spinach. See the difference?
>>
>>40822141

technically he would lose weight (if that is the only goal), but it would be waaaaay healthier to have the same deficit with a balanced set of macros from good sources (brown rice, oats and yams for carbs; lean meat and quark or protein; unsaturated cold pressed fats)

If your only goal is losing weight, just cut off a limb. Grab a hacksaw and go to town. You might die from loss of blood, but you'll weigh less

If you're going to fill yourself with butter, you're going to have the same end result.

If I lose my willpower it happens when I get home from work. I can be good all day but the second I get home I'm eating a ton of shit. It doesn't help that it's been like 4-5 hours since lunch but it sucks not waiting until dinner some nights.

Should I start making decaf coffee or something the second I get home to fill my stomach up? If I can make it past 5 PM I'm gold but it's such a struggle.

I haven't had a cheat meal since I started cutting (5 months and 50 lbs ago), and seeing as today is the FBLA State Convention for me, I decided today would be my first break in the cut.

Plan is already in effect, with a scone and mocha from Fatbucks. Apparently we're going to Steak-N-Shake and Outback as well later, so I'll be getting a godly amount of calories that I honestly haven't missed.

I don't know how I did it, but I managed to convince my self that food was only fuel for my engine, and not something to enjoy. Today is a test of that, and if I pass, then I'll know I've made it. We'll see if I enjoy the same foods I used to eat with much delight.

Godspeed /fat/. We're gonna make it.

It was worth it but by Monday I was ready to start losing again.

I plan on going off keto again for a weekend near the end of May, but I'll probably be below 170 by then and I most likely won't go as hard. I started at 270 in early 2016, so 5lbs was a pretty minor setback in the grand scheme.

>>40822552
I do, but I've actually started believing that "makes you hungry" meme. I still drink it on occasion but it really does make me feel hungrier than water would.

>>
>>40822587
5lbs isn't that bad. Depending on his previous cutting diet a lot of that could be glycogen refilling and retained water from sodium levels. I've had similar water weight gain in the past and it dropped off within 3 days.

Though I did do depletion workouts and took large doses of vitamin c to flush it

Jesus tapdancing Christ, is that what awaits me as well? Right now I'm at ~145kg, but I look pretty much like your first pic. I've almost mustered up the willpower to start dropping the lard, but seeing this terrifies the shit out of me and makes me have serious doubts. Is my skin gonna be like that if I drop the weight? Isn't it supposed to adapt to the weight loss and contract naturally? And I don't have 20+ grand to get a surgery, so I'd end up looking arguably worse than I do now.
>>
>>40821326
Great work, man. Keep it up. I'm just beginning, but like you, I'm motivated by the fact that I'm pretty sure I'm gonna die in a few years unless I make some drastic changes to my lifestyle.

I'm Male, 6'4, 115 kilos, 28.

My uncle swears Zinc helps with hair loss.

Also I intend to only be doing this for like 6 weeks max. And it's not a hard 1200 that's just a general target. Today will probably be like 1600 since I'm going to be doing a stir fry.
>>
>>40822224

Sure but then what do I do with the leftover pizza? I realistically probably won't eat the whole pizza, as even when I wasn't on a cut and used to eating way less, I didn't eat a whole pizza at once. If someone is around who wants some free pizza I will in fact give a bunch of it away.

>>40822233

But I wouldn't enjoy that. I'd much more enjoy the healthy food I cook on a regular basis than that. The point of a cheat is to eat something you want to eat that you don't on your diet.

True, from a health standpoint it's obviously better to be fit rather than obese, but one of the main reasons I want to drop the weight is to get rid of my crippling lack of confidence which mainly stems from having a body that I could never show in public, since I'm so ashamed and disgusted by it. Having my body look like it's a melting action figure isn't exactly going to change that situation. Is there really no other way besides surgery? Is your skin permanently fucked once you reach that body size?

>When you eat excess calories
>i.e. calories in calories out
meaning
>Dietary fat =/= bodyfat
is true.
as long as you're eating at a caloric deficit you will lose mass and as long as you're getting enough protein that you're body doesn't need to eat it's muscles most of that will be fat.

meaning dietary fats have little impact other than being more calorie dense than carbs
>>
>>40823588

>>
>>40823466
Shooting for a 1700 kcal cut, I've utilized IF and coffee in the morning, with a school lunch ranging from 400-600 calories depending on the day. From there, I ate chicken, pork, or fish for dinner around 6, and any calories I had left over went towards the most efficient way to get leftover fat/protein requirements. That usually consisted of eggs, cheese, or Greek yogurt, and on really good days it was peanut butter and eggs (try it, not bad).

I usually get my fats no problem, and protein averages at 130g per weekday, bumps up to 150g on weekends when I can usually cook meals myself.

Biggest trick is convincing yourself subconsciously you are never hungry, and when that fails, a big glass of water will do the trick.

Also, I try to exercise as much as possible in my fasted state, as that is when insulin levels are down and adipose tissue is much more accessible for energy.

Anon, I started at 328 LBS, and am now around 304 since Feb 17th. I was worried about excess skin too. But this is just an excuse to not lose weight. Reality is, we probably will have excess skin, but I'm 31 already. When you have kids, you'll realize that you actually care about living longer. I figured, I may not be able to go to a public pool, but the excess skin won't give me a heart attack like the fat will. And you can save up for surgery if it really bothers you.

Personal opinion: not liking things isn't the ideal solution. Because like.... ok what if you find a drink you do like are you going to drink 50 litres a day?

Rejecting wholesale the things you like isn't the way to live bruh. Learning to be moderate with the things you like. That's how you make it.

Hey /fit/fat/

So I started at 328 Lbs on Feb 17th, came in at 304 today.

I'm doing 16:8 (or 18:6 some days) IF, skipping breakfast

Doesn't really bother me, I've adjusted to not eating until 1-2pm

Diet for lunch and dinner is mostly 8oz of shredded chicken or ground turkey, with 3oz of broccoli, fresh grean beans, or lima beans, two veggies each meal.

Daily calories average between 550 and 900, depending on if I do snacks at night (a few small pickles, nearly naked popcorn from costco (130 cal for 4 cups), or sour patch frozen grapes (basically grapes rolled in sugar free jello then frozen, fucking cash)

Started biking with my wife and kids about a month ago, and last week started C25K, actually isn't too terrible, getting easier even though it's getting more running involved. Been going for lots of walks at night with the senpai and doing hikes and shit on the weekends.

So, I have a few questions:

1. Am I eating too little? Everyone says I'm not eating enough, and that I'm going to go into starvation mode, which I'm pretty sure is bullshit, otherwise Ethiopia would be full of a bunch of chubby niglets.

2. I'm worried I have gynecomastia. I can't really tell a difference in feeling between my wifes tits and mine, except that hers are bigger. I've been at least chubby since puberty, and my man boobs have gotten larger as I've gotten fatter, but I'm just not sure. Is there any way to tell at home, or do I need to see a doc?

3. I have a fitbit blaze, and it says I burn anywhere from 3200-4200 calories daily. At 5'11", my TDEE should be 2,446 for a "sedentary" style, but I have been walking at work when the fitbit reminds me and working out in the evenings. Even still, this seems like a massive amount. I'd love to know how many calories I'm actually cutting per day so I can figure out about how many calories per week I'm under TDEE.

Any help or thoughts is appreciated. Thanks.
>>
>>40824273
This. Moderation leads to excess leads to habit. Better to just not partake than to see how far down the slope you can slip.
>>
>>40821286
there isn't a chance in hell you're only eating 1200 cal if that's the case
>>
>>40824273

Yeah there's obviously exceptions to that but even most drugs can be used safely in moderation. One line of coke wouldn't kill you or do any appreciable damage.

And no I'm a guy. But if you legit can't handle drinking 1 bottle of cherry coke without spiralling down into full on binge eating... that's the problem you have, not that you happen to like cherry coke. If it's really that bad I guess you should avoid it, but, you need to work on that being true in the first place.

>>40824313

Sounds like you're making progress bro. Keep at it.

1. Probably you are to be honest. Especially at 328lbs. I mean an extreme cut is one thing but that's almost nothing.

2. You're probably ok. Wait until you're thin to worry about it. How fat is your wife though?

3. Being that overweight your TDEE is definitely higher than 2446 bruh.

>>40824336

Man that's a bad sign for you.

>>
>>40824313
1. Starvation mode is bullshit, although you don't want to go too low because organ damage or something.

2. Go see a doctor

3. Your Fitbit is probably more accurate than a calculated TDEE. Don't worry about it. Worry more about getting your necesary protein and figuring out how to get back in to a good amount of food once you hit your target.
>>
>>40821244
not all bro just stay on track one crazy meal is not going to bring all of your progress to a halt. It might make you feel like shit mentally and physically but it fill pass if you get back to eating healthy.
>>

I'm 304 now

The 550 days are less often than the 900 days. It's usually like 900ish

Wife is not fat, but does have big tits, so, not really sure how that factors in.

I put all my proper info into tdeecalculator.net and it says 2446
>>

>>
>>40824461
As far as I know. I've been fucking up my protein for 3 months, which is why I mentioned it. Looks good to me.
>>
>>40824039
It's worked out really well for me, as long as you can get used to going without breakfast you should be able to make it work. The biggest part is exercise though, I usually have a short 10 min HIIT session as soon as I crawl out of bed, then some sort of cardio for P.E. (in case you couldn't tell I'm still in high school, I'm a senior and 18 in case you guys want to throw a fit), then I have baseball practice for 2 hours after school each day. My job is also really active as I'm a landscaper, so I burn plenty of calories there as well.

Doing C25K and biking you should up your calories a bit probably.

It will likely take you 1.5-2 years to get to a normal weight assuming no major lapses, but you seem to have had a better start than most. Just don't get discouraged when your loss rate slows down, because it almost certainly will next month. Good luck anon.

Actually, it's a great idea. I did that and got my former weight on the side of my wrist, so every time I bring something up to my mouth, I can see that number, and it's a constant reminder of what I used to be and where I could end up again if I don't take care of myself. And if anyone asks, I just tell them it's a random number that brings me luck.
>>
Alright fellow fatasses, I have a question. If I eat 2000 calories below my TDEE and lose weight, is it true that I will gain weight back when I start eating at maintenance? I heard it was just a mom-science myth, but I'm kinda scared of doing this whole thing wrong and being fat forever.
>>
>>40824604
What makes you say that? I mean, I get that as my weight goes down my TDEE will go down, but why are you so sure it's going to be next month?

Also, I have 120 Lbs more to lose (approx). You don't think I can do 10 Lbs a month on average? How much harder will it get when I'm like 240?

>>
>>40824718
At 2k below TDEE your weight loss will slow as you enter starvation mode and you will become fatigued and want to sleep all day.

When you go back to maintenance you will not only have a hard time not overeating but you will gain back some more weight even accounting for calories.

Just focus on a healthier diet with regular caloric restriction and add in some cardio. The tried and true method is the best and safest.

I figure if I lift weights 3 days a week and do cardio twice a week and eat healthy, there's no way I will still be fat in a year. I cut out every bit of junk food and only drink water.

I don't know any fat people that exercise 5 days a week and eat healthy. They all overeat and never exercise.
>>
>>40824729
First month you lose a lot of water weight.
You can stick to 900 cal a day, but you will lose a lot of muscle for no reason making it potentially harder in the long run, 2lbs a week is generally the max maintainable rate.

2lbs a week of you exercise like a sloth. Without exercise I agree, 2lbs a week is basically the upper limit losing weight just from dietary changes, but if you move that fat ass every day and work hard, it can be 3/4 per week
>>
>>40824816
Can you explain this more?

I drink 128oz of water a day, wtf is water weight? and how does it take a month to come off?

How will I "lose a lot of muscle" if I'm eating 120g of protein every day?
>>
>>40824809
You can very easily out eat your exercise without junk food.
>>
>>40824850
>How will I "lose a lot of muscle" if I'm eating 120g of protein every day?
Your body will just turn it into energy. Just because you eat protein doesn't mean you will keep your muscle. It is a combination of sufficient protein and continued exercise.

Losing weight results in loss of muscle if you aren't lifting heavy weights during the weight loss. Even if you are lifting, the faster you lose, the more muscle you lose.
>>
>>40824869
so eating above bmr should prevent this?
>>
>>40824869
So between C25k at night, 20 mins of elliptical in the morning, and walking or biking with the senpai in the afternoon, that isn't enough exercise? I actually have to lift? I don't have time for that shit, fml.

not you you responded to but you can eat sugary fruits like apples as long as you do it during the day. During the day you burn that sugar right away, but if you eat at night, the liver will efficiently process that sugar into glycogen and fat, so make sure you eat your carbs and sugars as early in the day as possible, leave mostly proteins and veggies for dinner/evening food.
