Weekend tempetation edition

How are you gonna stay on your diet this weekend /fat/?

Last thread BMI >300 40821184

Who is /fat/ for? Fat members of /fit/ who want to learn how to eat right, lift weights, and lose fat. Here we ask others for advice and give moral support to one another. We all know how hard it first is and we all have to get through it to better ourselves. At the end of the day this is a support general whose goal is to help and motivate the chubby channers who need it. Please be warned that there are some chronic idiots who post in this general giving horrible advice that doesn't work for them or anybody. If you see something that contradicts what the sticky says, ignore it.

Been working out for the past two months and feelin gud

I got a new job at some mediterranean place tho and het food there daily.

I just get a pita sandwhich with roast chicken, no oil as far as i can tell with lettuce taboule garlic sause hummis baba ganoush and tzatziki

Anything wrong with a diet like this once a day or should i cut back and just get more salad there
>>
Learning to cook is the easiest way to lose weight. And the best way to make you not hate your cut.

You're literally eating the mediterranean diet which is god tier so you're fine. Avoid the pita bread though.

>>
>>40826669
What is your job there?

I would love mediterranean food daily. It's some of the healthiest foods there are, as long as you avoid the falafel and go light on those dips.
>>
>>40826676
So true. Also is easier than having to google the nutrition facts of every meal when you get take out or something

>>40826694

>>
>>40826669

The sauces are where you need to be careful. You'd be absolutely fucking amazed how many calories can be packed into a sauce. I'm not saying no sauce, but definitely get them to go light. Don't drown it.

>>
>>40826720

It's actually really easy to eat at a deficit and still eat 'a lot' and enjoy your food if you're cooking it yourself.

Though I've got to say, I actually don't enjoy cooking. Everyone I know says "I love cooking it's so relaxing" but truthfully I find it tedious and time consuming.

Also, and this is more your parents fault than yours, but, being brought up liking vegetables is really helpful and important. If you cook with vegetables you'll make it.
>>
>>40826708
Don't avoid completely but just don't like eat it too often. Low carb bro
>>
>>40826723
What sauce specifically?

I use enough to lightly coat the pita with each one. So like maybe a table spoon of each.

Theres a hot sauce to but fuck if i know wtfs in it other than some green shit
>>
>>40826762
Know i mean like what just put it all on a plate or some shit?
>>
>>40826755
I love cooking its so relaxing.

No but seriously, I cook for 90 minutes on Sundays and I am set for the week. And it is relaxing fuck you.
>>
>>40826782
Yeah just put it on the plate or on a bed of a little lettuce.
>>
>>40826795
Fuck it

What about the rice and dolmas? They got that shit to. White and brown. Also some mayo pasta and some bean salad with red and green beans and garbanzo
>>
>>40826772

I don't know exactly what sauces you're using I just saw you said garlic sauce and tadziki or whatever the fuck welfare country fucking spelling.

And those can be super high calorie. They may be using low cal versions or fuckin' who knows (Though I doubt it because the full fat ones are more delicious let's be honest)

So I'd just look into the calories in a standard garlic sauce and tazmania or whatever.

>>40826785

Fair enough. I'm working on doing prep and whatnot as much as possible but I MUCH prefer freshly cooked food over reheated. I'd rather do the half hour.

And enjoy what you want faggot I'm not the fun police.
>>
>>40826785
Care to share some examples of cooking ahead for the whole week?
>>
>>40826710
Do fatwojak as a doctor

>I need you to lose 30lbs next month anon or no surgery
>>
>>40826813

I'm the other guy, but, one thing you can do is you buy and 'prep' your ingredients for the week beforehand. I personally buy a shitton of chicken breast, chop it all up into little chunks, and then use a kitchen scale to portion it into like 500g bags or whatever.

Then I freeze all my chickenbags. So each day I can just pull one out, pitch it in a bowl of water for an hour or two. Then cook with it.

You could do the same like I'm eating stir fry today. I could get all the ingredients for stir fry in bulk, chop it all up at once, portion it out for each batch, and again freeze or fridge it. Then each day, you can have fresh stir fry because all you need to do is the cooking portion.

The thing that takes so long is prep. If you do your prep all at once, when you get hungry you just pitch it all into a pan, and cook it up then it's fresh rather than reheated.

The most standard thing is this: you steam chicken and broccoli and cook rice. You portion it as needed for your various meals throughout the week, in tupperware contianers, all ready to go. Then just microwave or eat cold at each meal. Reminds me of a book I read about life at a monastery in the 1700s though.
>>
You know, this whole process should make us marvel at both the human body and human society.

Eating 50% of your daily needed calorie intake, it takes you quite a while to lose a significant amount of weight. It's legitimately incredible that the human body can store that much energy and sustenance for its own use whenever. Like, that's actually pretty incredible.

Also, the fact that we've reached a point as a species that people can store weeks worth of food in their own bodies because they're just that far ahead of the need for survival is also pretty amazing.

I make bean salad with pinto, black, kidney, and chick peas and cucumbers and cilantro with a lemon pepper, and salt as topping. Plus a little olive oil. That shit last the week and keeps me full. Takes 20 minutes to make

Then I make over roasted vegetables with sweet potatoes zucchini or squash and onions. Season with salt, garlic, and rosemary. 30 min

Grilled some chicken thighs on the Foreman grill. Salt and garlic. 20 min.

Brown rice, 2 cups. 45 min.

>>
>>40827369
And?

I basically got that same shit. Gotta eat 1350 calories. I usually split that around 600 in some meal before noon and the rest some time before bed. Shit ain't hard. Try to eat something protein heavy in your meal bed so you don't feel hunger during the night and feel more satiated in the morning. Try to eat something fiber heavy along with protein heavy during the early day time to keep you good. Coffee/tea/water throughout. You'll be fine. Bit of hunger pain ain't shit.
>>
>>40827219
Serve yourself more egg/mushroom and less noodles. Tell your bro you can't eat much while drinking (lot of people like this) so you skip the dirt pudding and kill the wine. If your bro insists on the pudding try a couple bites, tell him it's great and you'll take some home but repeat that you just can't eat much sweet shit while drinking. Then just dump that dirt pudding cause it's empty useless calories and text your friend that it was some great shit and ya'll gotta hang out again or whatever.

4 days on a <1500 kcal diet.

>Tuesday was harsh, ate a small meal for breakfast <200kcal and at 12 o'clock ate pizza. Got 1430kcal and a lot of sadness.

>Wednesday was great, pork, avocado and some cheese, got 1074 kcal. Willpower starts to weaken

>Thursday was terrible, ate a 700kcal meal for lunch, nothing else, half a cauliflower, half a broccoli, 2 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp olive oil, pork and mozarella. The need for food started at night so I locked my door and started chewing gum. Ate a total of 45 chewing gums on three hours. Went to sleep happy.

>Friday, I've lost all sort of apetite, went to the kitchen to prepare my meal, didn't plan it so just weighted some meat and cheese, cooked both. Later felt the need to get some protons so made a protein shake with milk. Started counting the kcals of everything I've eaten today. FUCKING 1486 KCALS. CAN YOU FUCKING END MY SUFFERING? I WAS HYPED FOR ALMOND MILK

Thinking of using dnp to drop my last 60 pounds. 4 week cycle should get me around 200 with a 1000 calorie deficit. Should I do it? I've done hours of reading on dnp and I feel like it's worth the risk. I also have someone that I want to lose weight for. She claims she's happy with me, but she deserves someone who isn't a fat fuck.

I know I could get the same results from dnp in 6 months, but why wait that long when I can use dnp and get the same results in 1 month? I'd honestly rather die than continue being fat.

I thought these threads were a good idea at first. Something nurturing and inclusive for all the retards who just started out lifting or losing and needed insight from former fatties or actual people going on this journey.

Instead its a /r9k/ hugbox and retard factory. 'I'm starving myself, help' or 'I just started a new job and can't do X, help'

This is the al/ck/y general of /fit/ and you are all a sickness.

>>
>>40829777

Yeah but if youre eating at much more than +300 from maintenance you just get too fat. The unfortunate thing is that a surplus really helps build strength quick. It's a balance, but gaining and cutting 40+ lbs of fat a year is pretty dumb if you're completely natty. Frequent big cuts will probably ruin strength and size.

A reasonable strategy might be eating at a surplus some days and maintenance on others, trying to slow BF% gain as much as possible.

Basically, natty BB'ing sucks ass, and strength=size for nattys anyways for most muscles, so just focus on strength training and use cuts prevent getting overweight and/or reach a decent BF% for beach/grills/gaysex

I'm on day 13 of my 300cal/day burn. I take in all my calories in one meal. I don't really get hungry anymore and i drop a pound a day. Also noticed I only need 5hrs of sleep a night. Can't sleep anymore no matter what I do. Don't feel tired throughout the day either.

I'm trying to keep this up for 30 days. So far so good.

I can't find the link but there's some research (preliminary, not reviewed) saying that fucking up your diet too much as you lose weight will lower your BMR to around half what it should be. It didn't suggest what to do about it though, just that it took a long time to bounce back.

I guess you could lower your calories + do more exercise for 2-3 weeks, and if you lose weight, then that was it? But if so then you can only either keep that up, or give up on losing weight.

The one I read originally was more concise and factual for the few studies involved, but these at least give numbers.

My mom used to force feed me excessive amounts of food then make me starve, taught me binge eating essentially.

By force fed excessive amount I mean, she'd make child me eat portions that were way too large for even an adult and then beat my ass if I didn't.

Sometimes her and my step dad would put soap in our food and then when I puked I also got my ass beat.

I also wasnt allowed to leave the house, I was cut off from the internet. was not allowed to exercise and convinced me exercising was VERY bad for me. She never took me to school or when she did it was hard to make myself go because teachers would then give me detention or scold me.

god blessed me when she kicked me out at 16, but i was a retart kid who held onto those habits into adulthood.

now all these years later she asks why I hate her.

Need some advice guys. Pretty new to /fit/ so yeh go easy on me.

Aussie here, used to be exercising 5 days a week with AFL and soccer, then dropped it when I was about 17 due to stress of school exams and stuff.

I went from a pretty decently build guy to 124kg. Got to uni and decided in December last year to join the gym. Instructor said for me to only do cardio, interval training etc. Going 3 times a week early morning and on weekends go for 3-4km runs or bike rides.

I've cut out pretty much everything a feel a lot better. Been opting for high protein low sugar diet. Sticking to oats for breakfast, tuna/chicken and salad lunch and family are pretty good with healthy dinners with my mum being in healthcare/fitness (pilates).

Currently for the past 3 weeks I haven't lost anything and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I've lost 12kg but I've hit a wall. Any advice? I Should I try different gym regime?

My goal is to get down to at least 90kg by late July. Is this still possible?
>>
>>40831430
So you want to lose 48.5lbs in three months? It's not impossible but it would be difficult. I say increase your exercising if you feel like you can handle it.

Should I cook my vegetables when I'm trying to lose weight? I know they lose nutrition when boiled/whatever, but are the still as filling? Been eating them raw for some time.

>didn't think anything of it at the time because it was only $7 or something

The articles were really informative than more than that though. it notes how people struggle to maintain a healthy lifestyle after they've lost the weight and mentions a story of a woman who has to do it for the rest of her life in order to maintain, whereas people who've been that way their entire life struggle.

It mentions that despite some people having restrictive diets their body still somehow had the weight creep back in.

It talks about hormones and etc as well

I was operating on a 500cal deficit at least while eating usually under 1300.

so, I'm going to try and bump my cals up to 1600, and aim for a deficit of 500-750 and see how it goes.

When I checked my stats and cross ref everything, the week I dropped down to 254 I was doing 1000 deficit and eating more. but, wasnt really paying attention. I was just worried about being under and too lazy to eat more those days.

but when i went back to just the regular deficit, i was back up some weight.

If it still doesn't drop or move, I'm going to the dr to check my hormones.

Everyone keeps telling me to "eat less" but I might just be one of those fluke cases where my metabolism is just shot from everything so far. but I cant just keep dropping my cals and working out. lol. I want to see if going in the opposite direction will correct it.

assuming these arent sham articles but i think of it this way. I'm already fat so if I start gaining again ill go back to 1200. it sounds really illogical but, im going nuts.
>>
Why 500 deficit specifically? I mean if you can handle more, why not more?
>>
>>40831584
If you go more, not only will you lose some muscle along with your fat but you're more likely to break and binge. There's also a risk of loose skin.

If you think you an handle more then sure go for it. Just be aware of these risks.
>>
>>40831562
>had to do it for the rest of her life to maintain

Yeah. That's how it works. Give up this concept of thin people dieting to lose 10 lbs and then go back to eating the shit you normally do. Fatties get as bad as they do because their base eating habits suck. Losing weight isn't a fucking short term achievement, it's a lifetime effort to maintain your body.

Your body weight will adjust to what you eat, and if you change that, your body will change too.
>>
>>40831633
And don't forget that the thinner you are the less you WANT to eat, and you are satisfied easier. So it's not really a loss at all.
>>
>>40831584
500 is 1 pound a week.
Therefore 1000 is 2 pounds a week.

If your goal is to lose fat and retain as much muscle as possible, 1 pound a week is a reasonable rate.

If you're starting as a mega fatty and don't care so much about muscle, you just need to get the weight off, 2 pounds a week is perfectly fine.

1 pound a week is easy, 2 pounds a week is considered a bit more challenging but healthy and doable.

Any more than that and you're starting to risk not getting enough nutrition. For mega fatties, I'd say 300 pounds and fatter, you could probably do 3-4 pounds a week but I would only do that with regular doctor checkups to make sure you're not fucking yourself up.

tl;dr
1 pound a week = 500 calorie deficit = standard and easy
2 pounds a week = 1000 calorie deficit = aggressive, challenging but can be done without risking your health
3 pounds a week = 1500 calorie deficit = reckless, possible if you're really fucking fat and super spot on with your nutrition
>>
>>40831644
Yeah, but that's beside the point. Fatties have this weird mentality like everyone eats as shitty as they do and they just lost the genetic lottery and got fat because of it. They make the effort to lose the weight and then say "done!" And go right back to shoveling shit in their mouth.
>>
Here's a question for you guys, after you start to diet and cutting down on food, how long does it take to not be hungry or wanting to eat all the time? I think my biggest problem is how much I eat as opposed to what I eat, but every time I try to cut back, I inevitably just want to eat everything at all times.
>>
>volunteered to go into work early tomorrow
>figure I'll have to eat something simple and quick for breakfast and make something I can bring to eat during my regular shift
I'll be going in at 7pm and staying until 8am. What should I eat? I'm eating around 1600 a day. I might bring a snack or something to that I can eat between to hold me over so I don't eat my lunch several hours early.
>>
>>40831682
You can eat literally as many vegetables as you want.

You can try to ease into a large deficit, start by cutting 250 a week, get used to that and then increase your deficit. Went from like -250 to about 1000 like that over the course of 3 months.

Or try IF, I find that I'm hungry during my later fasting hours, but found it pretty easier to just not eat.
>>
>>40829118
The best protein powder is the cheapest whey concentrate you can find. Remember that protein is just food in powder form and can be used in cooking; drinking it in shakes is not the only option. Unflavored is better for cooking since flavored ones are usually disgustingly over-sweetened.
>>
>>40831682

Keep in mind that the most dramatic pounds are the ones at the very end. You'll likely keep the same "shape" for most of the journey, so you start as a fat dude with a belly and man tits, then go to a medium dude with a belly and man tits, then to a small dude with a belly and man tits. Then when you lose the last 10-20 pounds you finally get rid of the belly and man tits.

Eat 100 calories of something with high satiety.

Potatoes are the best. Eat a 100 calorie baked potato with a little salt and herbs and you'll be good for hours.

See also: beans, meat, veggies, oats, basically normal meal stuff but only eat 100 calories of it.

Also apples. Eat a 100 calorie apple. Do you feel like stuffing your face and eating 500 more calories of apples? No you fucking don't. Nobody wants to eat 6 apples.
