i have a problem, /fat/. i've completely lost my appetite. i dont mean it in a "i cant eat 15 hamburgers like i used to", but more like "i struggle to get 1500 calories of junk food in my stomach over an 18 hour period". srs, i get hungry once a day but a single sandwich and i'm stuffed to the gills. some days i can only get in 1000-1200, but my TDEE is ~2900 with a sedentary lifestyle and i do 2-5 hours of cardio a week and do a modified version of starting strength on top of it. i have yet to feel any side effects, other than being a bit more sore after lifting or an extra hard cardio session, but i'm not stupid and its only a matter of time before my body starts to really understand i'm consistently undereating by a significant margin. even though i fucking hated it at first, i dont want to stop doing cardio or lifting but i also don't want to lose every bit of muscle and sanity that i have left while also fucking up my internal organs.

Not the guy you were talking to, but I just got on the healthy eating ride about 2 weeks ago. I gave up soda last time I tried back in August, that was the hardest part for me, took months to get over the cravings for that. As for my current situation, I was literally eating nothing but pizza, mcdonald's, and baked goods. Once I started eating right, I haven't touched any of it, not even a little. For me the only way to get over cravings is cold turkey. The only thing that makes me want to go back to a shit diet is the dish washing after I eat, that shit sucks man.

I live alone though, so I don't have anybody tempting me with shit, besides friends trying to get me to go to the chinese buffet. Just think about how much you don't want to be fat anymore anon. It should keep you going strong.

the nurses are a pain, always trying to get you to eat a mountain of their greasy food
I did alright for the most part, soup and no bread rolls.

Hydrocephalus. Lots of people who have it have no issues at all for their entire life, but I guess I'm just a bad egg and I've had 30+ surgeries because of it. Not the worst egg though because I've heard of people who have had 300 surgeries because of it.

It's also partially the reason why I'm fat. I had a stroke during surgery when I was three so my left leg is shorter than my right and I can't walk on it very well because of this. Coupled with a shitty diet, I got fat. Then I lost weight by watching what I eat, and then I just keep on having surgeries and eat like shit during recovery to keep me from being upset.

I used to lift a lot, and due to a high protein diet and relatively good genetics even though I stopped for a year and was eating lots of meat-themed junkfood, I mostly kept my muscle.
But I put on a bunch of fat. Not enough that it's like...a problem but enough that it's a problem for me.

So about a week and a half ago I decided to finally cut the shit. I'm about 6'4 and probably about 115 kilos.
I've began eating about 1200 calories a day, including a 500ml protein shake made with milk. Which is a big chunk of my calories for the day. Sometimes alongside an orange
Otherwise I just eat a few little snacks or maybe a frozen lasagna or something that's like 600 calories. Yesterday for example I ate only that protein shake, the lasagna and a couple pepperoni sticks which I eat every day so I'm not a vegetarian.
Long story short, I'm around 1200-1300 calories per day. Occasionally 100-200 more or less. And I'm actually feeling pretty good. I don't seem to be hungry that often and when I am I grab an orange or one of those pepperoni sticks or sometimes plain yogurt with fruit mixed in. If I do that I calculate it into my daily 1200 budget.

I dunno. It seems to be working for me quite well. In only a week and a half I'm noticing results. Feel like I can keep going over the long term. What do ya'll think? Is this too extreme a cut if I'm not feeling super hungry or tired or anything?

Just get some fresh veggies, chop em and skillet em. Spice and season as normal. It hardly takes any longer, and the result is worth it. Or try roasting veggies. Roast cauliflower with cumin, roast brussel sprouts with lemon and parmesan, roast carrots with honey and garlic, roast green beans with balsamic vinegar.

The worst fresh vegetables are exponentially better than the best frozen veg.

my protein stuff I use the "now" brand nd it's low carb high protein. idk if it's comparatively better than other things but it works for me and im still losing weight.

I try to stay at 100g of each carb and protein daily, give or take. just depends.

1cup of oats has 10g, which isnt shabby.

You don't understand statistics. Just as there is high variance between measurements of two consecutive days, there is the same amount of variance between measurements two weeks apart.

Consider this hypothetical situation. You aren't losing any weight but maintaining it. One day you measure yourself and it happens to be a bit high that day. Two weeks later you are the same weight and measure yourself again. This time you happen to get a bit lower number. You conclude you are losing weight. This is why you should measure everyday and average over a week. It's very unlikely for 14 measurements to vary just so that you're made to draw an incorrect conclusion whereas only two measurements are at much greater risk to do so.

Measuring infrequently would be ok if you expect to see changes in your weight larger than the expected range of variance. Like for the 600lbs superfatties that lose can lose 20lbs in a week.

And to losing your gains. Last time I was sick it was probably norovirus since I had diarhhea, fever and could barely swallow food without feeling like vomiting. It lasted a mere two days and yet all my lifts dropped 5% which took me two months to get back.
