Don't listen to this guy. A lot of people find that discouraging because a photo every two weeks won't show as much progress, and tiny things like lighting make huge differences. Do take photos, but you could also get a measuring tape for your waist, or buy a new scale. Nothing like seeing those numbers go down, even if you have to accept some water weight plateaus and such.

I dont count I eat my three meals and tons of water. My breakfast is light with a Avocado and a boil egg but the thing that kills me is dinner. My SO loves to cook but he steams veggies but will make main side unhealthy so I just sometimes eat the veggies. When he does cook pasta I do eat only a small portion since once lunch hits at 1, I dont eat again until I get home at 8. What the best snack to eat in between lunch and dinner?

Hey everybody. I'm new here. I've lurked the past couple days, thought I'd post. Last time I weighed myself was a couple months ago and I was around 350lb and I'm 5'11". I was originally planning on doing the paleo diet, but I've decides I'm just going to incorporate some paleo recipes into my new lifestyle, maybe even a vegan meal from time to time. Not going vegan though, I like meat too much. I gave up soda and other sugary beverages 7 months ago during my last attempt and haven't gone back. All I drink is water and black coffee. My breakfast this morning was 2 lean pockets totaling 500 calories, and I have 2 chicken breasts with a bag or frozen vegetables in the crock pot for lunch/dinner. According to the nutrition facts, the whole bag of veggies totals 140 calories, I don't know how many the chicken has. I don't know, I feel lost in when it comes to eating right. I've been living on tacos and pizza for quite some time. Hopefully MyFitnessPal gives me some good guidance.

was skinny until adolescence, then my complete lack of nutritional knowledge, and a lifetime of eating whatever I wanted caught up to me. Ballooned to about 250lbs.
Went down to 160lbs in the space of 4 months during christmas 2012 by crash dieting and daily amphetamine use (I had just learned about the deep web).
Gained it all back and then some, spent the next 4 years trying the crash diet/speed method but without the speed. Suffice to say it didn't work.
So last year I swallowed my pride, had a long chat with myself and decided that if I was ever going to end this, it would have to be the proper way, so I got to work.

I popped into /fit/ occasionally over the years, even though I didn't really have a lot to post, I lurked for the news and the FPH threads.

Your TDEE is what your body burns in calories just from keeping you alive - if you don't move at all, but eat less than your TDEE, you'll lose weight. Simple as that.

Don't go for any meme diets - just change what you eat forever, you can't go back, a diet isn't something that ends once you reach your goal - some people get back all of their weight because they didn't know that and once they lost what they wanted, they go back to eating all the shit that's bad for them.

I'm also going on with coffee, water, and frozen veggies with chicken breasts - I'm looking up YouTube for some meal prep ideas, so I can make meals for myself for 5 days and not bother with it later.

What I've been noticing is that it's best not to force anything upon yourself such as diet exercise or even certain foods. Take it at your own pace. Experiment with your body as once you start losing and working out your body and mind will start to react differently to these new changes.

There is only a slight slowdown when fasting because you become fat adapted (burn fat rather than glucose ... ketosis is the same way), but ultra-low calorie diets actually do slow the metabolism. I switched to diet soda and didn't lose shit, mostly due to compensating with other junk food and the diet soda making me hungry through association/conditioning/whatever. Super easy to get back on the HFCS horse too if you're used drinking sweet shit all the time. Got off that train like 3 times before the most recent where I went full water.
