Who is /fat/ for? Fat members of /fit/ who want to learn how to eat right, lift weights, and lose fat. Here we ask others for advice and give moral support to one another. We all know how hard it first is and we all have to get through it to better ourselves. At the end of the day this is a support general whose goal is to help and motivate the chubby channers who need it. Please be warned that there are some chronic idiots who post in this general giving horrible advice that doesn't work for them or anybody. If you see something that contradicts what the sticky says, ignore it.

I'm sorry /fat/ I think I'm losing it. Been cutting for three months, no fast food, not even a soda. I just wanna go to to McD's or taco bell and get a 1000+ cal meal or I'm gonna go insane.

>>
>>40791437
Oh dude, my first pizza in months had me on the crapper all fucking night.
It was torture.

>>40791447
Yeah there's a point where you stop shrinking and the fat starts contouring to your musculature. It's good progress, keep it up.

>>40791455
I tried it for a while. Can't live on cheese and bacon though.
I'd start having dreams where I ate a slice of bread or something and it freaked me out.
I'd say no, it's severely restricting to what you can eat, and it doesn't seem to make much difference with regards to weight loss than a normal calorie deficit.
>>
>>40791455
Lost like 50 lbs on it. It is fine. Not suitable long term imo, have to give up way too much.

I much prefer IF between keto/fasting.
>>
>>40791467
Of course not, I know I'll be fine tomorrow and so on, I normally prep all my meals beforehand. I'm just having a really bad craving and want to make sure this one meal isn't gonna fuck up my cut.
>>
Do those power health xs green tea tablets that dissolve in water have calories in them?

I dont see anything about calories, it just says boosts metabolism but i like the taste
>>
>>40791538
well one cheat meal wont ruin your fat loss if you return to being strict with your deficit afterwards.
>>
I'm losing my motivation. Started eating carbs again and kinda binging. I haven't made any progress in a few weeks. I need to do more but my appetite is getting bigger. I know Im satiated but there's a crap ton of food being offered and I enjoy getting out. It was easier losing weight being shut in;-;
>>
Hi so I've lost 40lbs and have gone from 36% to 30% bodyfat. I'm readjusting my calorie goals but I don't know what calculator to use. They all give me different numbers from 2200 to 3200. So far I've found that I maintain around 2600-3000 but I only tested that for a week so I don't know for sure. It could've been water loss or something preventing me from gaining weight.

For reference I'm currently 6ft 1 and 259lbs
>>
>>40791182
No, I had a relatively healthy breakfast of eggs, bacon, and cottage cheese. Lunch was tacos.

>>40791633

You're skinny fat, start lifting boy.
>>
>>40791418

Dude just avoid eating empty carbs like french fries.

Go get like two burgers or a burger and a chicken sandwich from McDonald. You'll be fine.

Just watch your calories and don't go over 1000.

Then eat like 2 smaller meals. Like 400 calories spaced apart through the day. You'll probably still be in defict for the day. Burgers really aren't that bad for you. It is the 400 calories of sugar soda and 600 calories of fries that kill people.

I just ate candy for the first time in a month. It was a twix fun size candy bar.

Jesus Christ fatties will eat anything. It's not remarkable at all. Vegetables are just as tasty as this and I can eat a whole carrot for 50 calories less than this piece of shit.
>>
>>40791703

>Falling for the carbs are the devil meme.

Carbs are fine as you keep them in a reasonable proportion to the

A double quater pounder with cheese is 45g of fat, 42gs of carbs and 51g of protein.

Thats literally almost perfect and the high amount of fats and protein will make you feel full as fuck for several hours. I garunfuckingtee you if most of America ate two of those a day and protein bar they would lose a fuckton of weight over a year.

It only gets bad when you add a another 800 calories worth of carbs in soda and fries.

"Muh Keto", you don't need to be in constant keto to lose weight. Carbs just don't make you feel as full as long as fat and protein does, thats why its a bad idea to eat a really carb heavy meal. You'll feel hungry later. Thats the only reason.

Carbs aren't poisons, you just can't go overboard.

Cut the fries and cut the sugary soda and there is nothing wrong with eating fast food. I've lost a fourth of my body weight and gained significant muscle mass and I eat a burger a day and even eat pasta occasionally. I just make sure it is balanced with plenty of filling fat, a good source of protein and at a calorie level that won't screw me over.

You should be eating some carbs after you work out anyways along with your protein.

Bread isn't the enemy, it just can't be the center stage attraction. Potatoes are the devil though, avoid potatoes like the plague.

I'm going on vacation and will be in the car for 24 hours straight. What fast food do you suggest I get that will not fuck with my 1800 TDEE?

For reference: I do not eat pork or beef for religious reasons. So chicken/veggie stuff would be appreciated.

Let this be a message to anyone consistently doing well but not seeing results on the scale: Take your other measurements or go by how well your clothes fit! If your clothes aren't slowly starting to fit better then getting loose, you might be doing something wrong.
>>
>>40792094
It only matters week to week anyway not day to day. Weight fluctuates between 2-3 pounds during the day regardless.

Like the other day
>weight when i went to bed was 230
>wake up it's 238
>wtf
>continuously weigh myself throughout the day
>Goes 335, 337, to 338 again
>right before bed weigh myself one more time
>330 again

Water, food in your belly, a poop comin' on, the weight of your clothes, etc can all fluctuate your weight throughout the day. Average them out or only do it once a week like i do now (Every sunday evening for me)
>>
>>40792154

So depends on what restaurant you go to. So luckily you can look up the nutritional info on any place's website so you know undoubtedly what you're eating. You can remove the mayo/honey mustard/whatever dressing they put on.

Aim for grilled chicken over fried obviously.

If your only option is a salad, be careful since some restaurants have really fattening salads you can't customize.

Wendy's has really decent salads (A half size isn't that bad even of their fattest variety of salad) and their chicken tastes best to me out of the more common fast food places
(Besides good times but that's only in two states).

I'd also suggest making yourself some snacks to bring along so you avoid getting snacky out of boredom on the trip at rest stops.

If you have space for a small cooler you can bring some cold food to eat instead of fast food in th first place (Make your own sandwich or wrap, yogurt or cottage cheese, etc).

Even so the 24 hour trip probably won't affect you much even if you do eat something fattening, it's the choices you make on the actual vacation that are going to matter!

Just repeat this whenever you feel tempted "A vacation isn't an excuse to throw away everything i've worked for."

Some hotels have gyms too so you can, at the least, get in your cardio for the day if you wake up before your other vacation-mates too so even if you do indulge a little it won't affect you too mch.

Just make smart choices anon i believe in you.

>tfw going on vacation in a month
>going to a seafood paradise
Only thing i'm worried about is exercising since i'm staying at a friend's cottage which is tiny with no workout room haha. I might still be able to do it though since i'll have my laptop and youtube to follow with.

KFC has grilled chicken too, i'd make that as a choice instead. They also have a little thing of popcorn chicken that might work better too but i don't know for sure.

>>40792250
Google "overnight oats" all you'll need is a mason jar. Make them the night before you leave then you either only have to nuke them or just eat them cold. Since they're in an air-tight jar you can take them with you though. Most gas stations have a microwave so if you go in and buy something with it (Idk, pack of sugar free gum, a water bottle, etc) you can use the microwave to nuke them.

Can make muffin-tin omlettes too that are similarly easy to grab and go
>preheat oven to 350
>put veggies or whatever you want in your omlette in a muffin tin (spray it first)
>add the eggs (3 eggs should make 4, you can make these with just eggwhites too)
>Bake em for 15-20 minutes (Check after 15)
They'll keep all week in the fridge, take 30 seconds to heat up.

I put baby spinach and peppers in mine.

Good luck anon
>>
only a couple months more and i should be done cutting. hopefully i'll actually be able to finish the cut now, brehs, since i ended up stopping entirely after a while on my first attempt.
>35%@210->22%@~175->25%@198->18%@180
the last 18lbs have been lost since between mid december and early early january, i forget exactly. i probably need to lose another 15-20lbs to be able to be around 10%, but it's significantly easier to maintain a consistent diet/cardio routine now than it was so i'm not super concerned about burning myself out anytime soon. feels good to be able to see some abs now, so i'm moderately happy with my success so far.
>>
>>40792254
Depends on the person. Some people who have a "sweet tooth" will always find chocolate and candy better than vegetables and fruit even if they've been fit for years.
Someone who was just unused to natural sugars might go back and find the candy to be overwhelmingly sweet in comparison to the fruit they've been eating.

Everyone is different. It doesn't matter what your tastes are in the end, what matters is you've found a healthy sustainable diet and stick with it, even if you have a candy bar once a month because you still like them.

Me, i just don't trust myself because of my sweet tooth so i just don't buy it at all. I have some baking skills so i can make sweets that have basically no sugar in them or a healthier source of lower sugar instead to satisfy the craving instead of buying something overly processed.

Oh honey no..
Try this: Use a calorie tracker like myfitnesspal. Log all of your entries BEFORE you eat. Seeing how high calorie, sugar, etc your food is before you eat it might help you decide "No..I guess i don't really want this." and make a better choice. It's been working for me and helps me feel less stress when I do go to pick out some food to eat because I already know it's a good choice and can just enjoy it even if i wolf it down like a pig.

Eating slower helps too though.

I eat 1500 per day which is ~1000 under my TDEE, and you'd be surprised how much food you can pack into 1500 if you pick the right ones. Chicken, fish, veggies, eggs, etc.

Shorterm goal is 200.

As for how much my strength is, it's piss poor. I'm meeting with a trainer tomorrow to just learn how to do everything and have some guidance (I go to the gym alone and I legit don't know where to start even with all the online guides out there).

So I'll post that kinda stuff once I actually have info to share on that.

I was too nervous to go to the gym at all until now so I did all that just on my own working out in the living room with limited weight and dancing for cardio.

I'm the girl who advocates meal prep all the time in this thread though since that's helped me keep on track. I haven't snacked, binged, or eaten anything unhealthy in a month now :)

>>40792584
...I don't think that's going to work. That's going to be hella expensive too.

Don't do a cheat day just have self control and do a normal diet.

>>40792667
Yeah don't listen to that anon. Anyone can suddenly have an event fuck them over to the point where they slip into shitty habits no matter their age or previous fitness level. What's important is finding strength and relief from depression through fitness. Workout if you're sad, work out if you're stressed, if you need to eat to be happy, do a healthy meal, plenty of healthy meals taste god damn delicious without adding to the waistline

You can do it anon, and I know you can keep it up too no matter what life throws at you. You gotta believe it too!

>>40792714

Samefagging but also I finally tried a tip another anon gave for soda cravings

Get some sparkling water and add some mio to it (0 cal, 0 sugar but i have no clue what's in it so i'm probably not going to use it often). Tastes hella better than other alternatives like La Croix (which just taste like ass IMO).

I've been craving soda all day all of a sudden so this is actually helping me get over that craving by giving me something fizzy with a sweet taste to drink. probably better than diet soda too? Idk.
>>
>>40792920
Try getting a dedicated water bottle that you only drink tap water out of. Turned out half my addiction was an oral fixation on 20 oz bottles. Getting one from the store with a similarly shaped spout cleared that right up.

I'd also suggest sticking with whatever fizzy shit tastes like ass because you WANT to be able to give that up.

Not everyone comes from a FPS anon. The only disgusting defining most recovering fatties is that they're still fat which shouldn't describe anyone in this thread because we should all be actively working towards our goal of being fit RIGHT GUYS?

>excluding the fucker up a bit who ate 1200 calorie breakfast jesus christ i still can't get over how you even do that

But i'll still answer why a lot of the gross fatties are the way they are
>Smell
Shitty diet = shitty smells, poor hygiene, and if they're morbidly obese, they might be starting to literally rot.
>Social etiquette
Lots of socially awkward autists or people who have little social experience due to low confidence being a fatty. You'll see a lot of people who have reached fit levels who still have no etiquette (Browse fit as a whole for awhile you'll find em).
>Finger food
Assuming you don't mean finger foods (fries, tenders, maybe fruit bowls, sandwiches, etc) then they probably had a shitty upbringing that didn't teach them manners. I see people in restaurants with GOD AWFUL manners regardless of their weight. I've seen skinnies eat with their fingers, seen people of all shapes and sizes blow their nose at the table (This is DISGUSTING go to the bathroom for that no one wants to hear this while the

You're too much of a pussy to beat up a fatty at random, that's why you're posting on an anonymous message board like a lil bitch.

>>
>>40793037
Oh no I already do that hon. I said it was lately. I havent' had soda in over a month but today for some reason I was DYING for one. So the sparkling water + mio was a nice solution that wouldn't fuck me up or my progress but still satisfied the craving.

I'm not sticking to la croix because 1. it's expensive and 2. i will waste it not drink it and still have the craving once in awhile.

I already have a dedicated water bottle (nice one with like the water level on it so i know how much water i'm drinking exactly) it's right next to me and i'm alternating sips between the two.

Finding an alternative to a craving is better than ignoring it, because you'll eventually cave to the craving, especially if you're relatively early on in your journey like me.

I don't plan to drink this every day though. Maybe once a month when that craving pops up.

Because I used to be a fat fuck just like you. I weighed 250lbs at six feet. My life was in shambles and I couldn't bear to look at myself in the mirror everyday. I tried to find comfort with other fatties and it was always the same bullshit, "we're gonna run tomorrow" or "we're gonna start dieting as soon as possible." Comfort won't get you anyway. Pain will. Physical and emotional pain. It's better to confront your problems head on and realize how much of a disgusting slob you are, then it is to drown everything out by jerking each other off on /fa/t. FPS is the best motivation you will ever have.
>>
>>40793180

>FEMALES WILL BULK UP IF THEY LIFT TO LOSE WEIGHT

vs

>No, no no, you won't bulk up, it'd take a lot of working out.

Problem here is my MASSIVE thighs gain weight and muscle before anything else on my body. What the fuck gives?

I want to believe the second one more than the first one but someone told me that it depends on the individual body.

It's hard enough finding jeans with the lard legs, if they aren't going to slim down and if they're just going to get a muscle-y instead, it doesn't help my case.

Who can drop some legit knowledge here???

Will strength training help or hinder my attempt at a slim figure?

Actually most fatties aren't motivated by being made fun of, it's positivity and encouragement to NOT GIVE UP that works. No one here is saying "You can have a soda anon it's okay :D tee hee"

But cravings are a legitimate thing retard, especially with soda (Caffeine is a drug yknow anon) and oral fixations are a thing too (I've had one since i was little. Went from chewing my lip to chewing gum to smoking to chewing gum again)

Seriously anon what happened to make you this overly angry at fatties who are getting better? Lmfao.

>>40793102
It might benefit you to talk to a trainer for a week or two. Some gyms have a "First day free" kinda thing and that might be enough for you to figure out what's gonna work for you if you've been following all the guides and shit up to this point.

>>40793120
Doing good anon, keep it up! Learn to work with an injury rather than stopping all together.
For example, I have injuries with my feet. I do zumba for my cardio. I can't jump so I replace those moves with side steps or marching in place. Just adjust your exercise or avoid just the area of injury for awhile. There's lots of sitting down exercises and exercises for those with limited mobility on youtube :)

NO EXCUSES right?

>>40793156
I can see not exercising but your injury had no impact on how much you should've been eating. Most of losing weight is in the kitchen.

>>40793180
That's good anon, nice to stay motivated. Surgery seems like a good reason to lower activity but food should never be neglected just because you can't move :)

Your legs are due to fat storage, not muscle. Your body just likes storing fat there first. Losing weight will reduce the fat there.

Unless you are taking large amounts of anabolic steroids, no amount of lifting will ever give you strongly defined muscles like pic related (yes, she's on lots of roids).

Think about how much work men have to do to get legs like her. Now take away their testicles and try to do it. It's just not going to happen.

Not everyone does well with negative reinforcement.

Having people to support you and tell you "Don't do that anon, do this instead" or "You fell off today just climb back on and keep going, remember how shitty it feels to fall off" is what this thread is about.

No one is here coddling one another to remain fat, and when someone posts a really god awful day we tell them to do better tomorrow.

>>
>>40793274
You're right.
The whole "Women don't gain a lot of muscle form lifting weight" thing is just to keep women from looking at the geared up female bodybuilders and swole powerlifter chicks and getting scared of being gross or turning into a dude/dyke and giving up lifting.

The problem is that it's kind of a lie. Women WILL gain muscle but relatively speaking compared to a geared up lifter chick or a man not as much. But they will gain.

If you have found out that your legs tend to EXPLODE in mass and don't want that then you should stop doing whatever it is you're doing.
Do very very very high rep low weight stuff and do cardio stuff. Only lift heavily once a week at most.
You'll get stronger but you're muscle gains will be minimal.

By the way. Lifting =/= less fat. It just doesn't.
It will certainly help and a good consistent resistance routine(lifting, calisthenics, yoga, swimming) is key to maintaining weight loss.

HOWEVER less food and becoming more active(and no I don't mean just running or jogging or walking)in your day to day life is how you lose weight. Period.

>>
>>40793274
IIFYM within a caloric deficit, and do strength training regardless. you will lose weight.

targeted area fat loss is a meme. you will likely lose fat in an even distribution from throughout your body as opposed to just your thighs etc. the 'bulking up' aspect of weight training is something you'll only notice after doing weight training at a caloric surplus or around maintenance to gain muscle mass.

i would recommend doing some form of PPLPPLX with ~30min lower intensity cardio (elliptical, bikes) after every session, maybe injecting some HIIT sessions once or twice a week.

Drinking a shitload of water will.
Cellulite is fat being pushed against the skin, lifing and losing weight will lessen your chances for cellulite.

My mom has it, you definitely don't have it. NPD is very much a destructive attitude towards other people around you with the feeling that you've done nothing wrong, playing victim too much, etc (lots of FPS fatties have the symptoms).

For you anon let me say this first
>only losing 2 pounds a week
Dude that's normal. That's the recommended safest amount you should lose each week. More than that and you risk health problems and loose skin.

As for looking down and feeling better, I feel this too. i'm 22 pounds down now and I keep checking myself out because I'm just PROUD that I'm doing well. Doing it makes me more motivated to keep working out and keep eating well. Looking back and seeing my ass isn't as flabby and is getting better and better each week keeps me going.

If it's the same for you, embrace it anon. There's absolutely nothing wrong with feeling a sense of pride of your accomplishments no matter how small (as long as you're not the type to "reward" yourself for it. Reward with something non-food related at most).

My ultimate reward for my goal weight is a harley quinn costume (her original design with the catsuit). I've always wanted to go to a con or just wear one for halloween but theres no way in hell i'll ever be a fat Harley and do her an injustice.

Whatever works to keep you going!

Ugh, I can relate. I did squats a while ago and I did it so well that my boyfriend at the time asked me "Is your butt getting bigger?" Of course, it wasn't getting bigger, but rounder and tighter.

Thing that sucks is that it's not permanent and goes away if you don't workout often. Which you should, but still :/
>>
>>40793413
Sorry if my tone came off as defensive but there's not really anything to defend imo. I *am currently* counting calories, dieting, and exercising again as of about a month ago, and weight is starting to go down again. I'm not trying to say the whole injury thing as an excuse or something that was out of my control, because it was absolutely within my control. I'm acknowledging that I chose not to focus on weight loss for approximately one year while about 40% of the way to my goal. I was not super concerned with weight loss while in constant pain -- it was at the bottom of my list of concerns, actually. I don't really feel bad or guilty about that, and I'm pleased that I maintained my initial weight loss. Anyway, now I'm happy to be able to refocus, continue my progress and hope to reach my goal by the end of the year.
>>

When do you weigh yourself? You should weigh yourself every morning and every night.

I'm saying that drinking enough water will HELP with avoiding it, but lifting + water can help you avoid it the most.
If you're over a certain weight though you'll probably have some loose skin regardless (like 300s, maybe 250s?).

But it also depends on your body because some lose all the weight and never have any problems with it.

BUt best to take all the precautions
>don't lose weight too quickly
>Make sure you're drinking enough water
>Lift

Do some goddamn cardio man. I can't even tell if your lats are proportionate to your arms because of your stomach fat. Also, post legs.
>>
>>40793621
Yeah fuck that noise. I'm fully expecting that stuff once I get down closer to my goal weight of 170.

For now, I'm still clearly fat as fuck.

As a side note, I did this first 80 pounds purely on diet and walking. Would walk laps around my neighborhood/campus everyday. I told myself that once I got down to around 250 I would start going to the gym and doing more intense cardio and pick lifting back up.

So I started this the other day, and while on the treadmill, I let it record my heart rate while running, and it hit between 215 and 220. Is this safe? Or is the machine wholly inaccurate?
>>
>>40793544

Once a week. Usually Thursday mornings, since that's the beginning of my weekend.

I do keep track of it, though.
>>
I'm an ex-hamplanet who's currently a planetoid (250lbs from 360lbs in 15 months) My knees are pretty weak from 15 years of abuse, not only was i a fatty but there was a point in my life where i did a lot of hiking even as a 300lbs teen and i'm pretty sure it fucked up my knees.

I'm currently on my second couch to 5k week, and my legs actually feel so light and renovated after i run, i feel like i could do 100 jumping jacks after every cardio session, is this a good sign? people told me to wait til the low 200s for cardio but i need them mental gains

Any other cardio fattys here? (oh and yes, i do lift 3 times a week)

Max muscle for a natty woman varies significantly. If you train hard and consistently you could get definition like this woman:

https://www.youtube.com/user/megangallagherlifts/

She trains a lot though. As you can see, her whole life revolves around exercising and she still doesn't have very big muscles.

Some women can squat 1.5-2x BW without even getting defined legs.
>>
>>40793525
Weigh yourself once a week. If you do it daily, average it.
What's your diet like? Whats your exercise like? We can't tell you what you're doing wrong without knowing what you're doing dude.

>>40793531
Hahaha my husband didn't notice until I told him to squeeze it but he's been more supportive of my goals since then (He's always been an ass man haha)

and yeah that's kind true for any bit of muscle, you gotta be consistent. I can't do back squats (Back problems) so I do goblet squats or side squats. They're easier, require less equipment (So you can do them at home!) and are something I can do consistently. Plus it requires the same form as back squats so when my back muscles are strong enough to support my fucked up spine I'll be set for real squats!

>>40793544
No...If do weigh yourself daily, do it at the same time every day and everage it out per week (Weight fluctuates by 2-3 pounds every day). Weekly or biweekly weigh ins are better. Monthly works better for some people.

>>40793554
I'm not on ketosis and i'm losing 2 pounds consistently per week. Ketosis isn't viable for everyone, makes a lot of people feel like shit. For the people it works for , it works. But it's not the end all be all solution.

>>40793558
Dude thats awesome progress :D It's hard to see your own progress sometimes (Try taking a picture of yourself everytime you weigh in or once a month even so you can see it too!)

I haven't shocked anyone yet but I'm going to visit family in May so maybe then I'll get some comments.

So far i've gotten a lot of supportive comments from the friends that know i've started eating better and working out. It feels nice to hear "I'm proud of you" From my best friend. I don't want to disappoint them so it helps me keep going.

>>40793559

Why are you doing the most high impact exercises you can find when you say you have bad knees? Jesus christ dude...

Get a recumbent bike and start doing some squats. You need to strengthen your legs and knees.
>>
>>40793734
>knows excessive exercise is bad for the knees of a fat person
>does c25k
Nigga at least tell me you're doing it on ellipticals.
>>
>>40793274
ugh I used to have this fucking gif of a scanned cross-section of a fat leg that basically showed how much of the average leg was just pure fucking fat and little muscle

but nah lifting won't make the leg bigger in the way you're thinking. Cut calories and keep protein up to gain muscle and progress will slim your legs.

I'm a girl and I've gone down sizes in pants and I'm hispanic and pretty thick at the hips/thighs. It's actually kinda hard to build ass/thigh muscle, or really any significant muscle as a girl. You wanna make sure your protein intake is alright, sleep is good, still having calories under maintenance and you gotta keep increasing the weights. Do all that good shit than maybe after 10 months you'll see that squat ass or something.

And you don't seem that bottom heavy. More top heavy desu.

>having a cheat day at all when you're trying to lose weight

Another anon said it well up above
You've cheated your body while you got fat, now isn't the time.

I don't take any cheat days. I don't WANT to crave unhealthy foods. The only exceptions for me are going to be three days a year
>My birthday (Next week. Not going crazy, gonna still work out in the morning too since i'm eating sweets)
>Thanksgiving day (IF i'm visiting. If i'm cooking i'm making healthy sides)
>Christmas day (Same as above)

Once I reach my goals maybe I'll add a cheat meal once in awhile if it fits with the rest of my meals for the day but i'm not risking binging for a cheat day because i can't resist shitty food

You should try an elliptical or some low-impact dance fitness for your cardio bro (i do zumba an replace the jumps with side steps and marching in place because i also have shitty knees).

Running might be too high impact (But i mean if your knees aren't killing you when you run or after who knows maybe you're fine?) Talk to your doctor.

>>40793737
All right cool that actually makes me feel better since I don't really like overly muscular arms on ladies (dat goth girl aesthetic)
I want abs like hers but i'll be happy just being skinny otherwise with a good ass (I can do goblet squats at home even if i can't make the gym and maintain dat ass easy).

it's only my second week and i said to myself that i'd stop the moment i felt any pain on my joints, so far I've only felt muscular pain, also i guess losing 110 lbs got to my head and i haven't jogged in years so i just did it. Also i have a home gym, plates, bench, rack, and Db's, but no cardio equipment so i didn't want to get a gym membership just to do cardio

is the elliptical the best choice for fatties? might have to save for one then
>>

Hot dogs can be fine depending on WHERE you get them. I doubt anon is getting good hot dogs when they're stuffing themselves with snackcakes though.

>real deli bologna and hotdogs from not disgusting sources taste Godly i swear

i still won't eat it though.

While on the topic i got a question for yall
My favourite foods ever are
>Hamburgers
>chicken wings
Now I kinda know how i can make wings myself and make them healthier, lower in sugar, etc (I prefer them baked to fried already so that helps)

But i'm at a loss of how to make burgers less calorie dense. The bun is my biggest problem. Anyone here have a good alternative to normal buns that isn't either "throw it on a piece of lettuce" or "eat it like it's meatloaf" because those just aren't burgers to me.

I can already work with the meat (turkey burgers yum) and shit but i dunno. Burger wraps maybe?

This is more so when summer gets here so I can still go to cookouts with friends and enjoy a burger without worrying about undoing my hard work.
>>
>>40793869
amazon has a lot of space-saving cardio equipment including ellipticals and their returns are pretty forgiving so if you use it and find it doesn't help you (I have flat feet and ellipticals, for some reason, fuck with my feet more than normal walking and running. Builds a knot where my arches should be) you can return it.
>>
>>40793896
Buy Boca veggie burgers. They're only 70 calories for a patty with a whopping 13 grams of protein. I eat them on a slider bun which is only 80 calories (Whole Foods). You could buy low calorie bread instead which is 70 calories for 2 slices at any grocery store.
>>
>>40793773
to each their own, mad respect for what you're doing but everyone has to adapt their diet to their life too. my cheat days are every 2 weeks because every 2 weeks i go out with my buds, but what i do is that i fast the whole day so that i don't go over my calories at night, so far the worst one was 2100 cals when we went out to a Chinese buffet.

If you go to a Chinese buffet, order off the menu and take home what you don't eat.

My family loves Chinese buffets but they are very stressful for me because I overeat when I go. When I switched to ordering off the menu, I can eat as little as I want and take home what I don't finish. Much less stressful and then I don't overeat.

Fad diets aren't supposed to be long term, most of them are used to kick start a diet and good habits, i'm pretty sure lyle mcdonald mentions this in his psmf book, he also gives a lot of insight and info on the diet and how it is not magical or any of that shit.

Once you've reached peak /fit/ness you'll get that same pleasure from eating a single banana.

Though I guess technically a single banana and a fun size twix are basically the same thing in hindsight...

in fact a banana has more carbs and more sugar than a funsize twix bar.

Fad diets don't work for most people because you often gain the weight back when you switch to a sustainable diet. Better to just start right off the bat being healthy.

I'd suggest fad diets for the morbidly obese who SHOULD restrict a lot more than most people.

I would argue that the source of sugar and carbs matters way more than the factual amount in some cases.
I'd rather eat too much sugar through a banana than too much through a twix bar that isn't even going to fill me up or give me another nutritional benefit (Bananas are great if you have depression i swear to god. If you feel sad, eat a banana.)

If you're trying to lose weight and get healthy, consider a plant-based diet (no meat, fish, eggs, or dairy).

Vegans have a 5-unit BMI decrease and less risk of developing diabetes or cardiovascular disease https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19351712

Cholesterol is the only factor necessary for the development of atherosclerosis https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3603726/

The ideal LDL cholesterol for humans is between 50 to 70 mg/dl. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15172426
At that low you're basically heart attack proof and atherosclerosis reverses. The only populations that low are ones which rarely consume animal products. http://www.ajconline.org/article/S0002-9149(09)01099-6/fulltext

Red meats increase cholesterol which leads to atherosclerosis, diabetes, amputations, and heart attacks https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7019459

Intake of whole-grains is associated with lower BMIs https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17346657

The intake of legumes is "the most important dietary predictor of survival in older people of different ethnicities" https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15228991

I love meat so I'll never be real vegetarian or vegan but there's a lot of good cost effective recipes and good healthy recipes for vegans out there (Found a lot of good replacement meals for foods I like using vegan recipes)

>>40794216
Fair enough haha. push up bra? :)

>>40794227
I wouldn't say ridiculously. There is still some nutritional value to it but making it a standard of your diet isn't a good idea (Bad for the heart, beef isn't as easy to digest, etc). A good replacement is game meat like bison if it's cheap near you. I can't stand it though too gamey tasting and smelling. But luckily a lot of ground-beef meals are easy to replace with ground turkey (turkey burgers, meatballs, even meatloaf).
>>40794248
Turkey does not taste like beef, but you can make a good meal out of using it like I said above. But no, turkey will never taste as good as beef does lol. It's also not "typically" grilled wtf are you talking about? I cook mine in a pan (no oil) and most people do that if it's not summer.
Restaurants use a "grill" but a restaurant grill is more similar to a griddle.

The cooking method doesn't matter half as much as what you cook it with
>Compare baking a chicken tossed in oil to cooking it dry on the pan
>Compare baking to cooking in a pan with oil.

Baked steaks sounds weird and gross to me for some reason. I knew someone who baked hamburgers and it made them taste fucking weird.

Carcinogens come from the type of pan you use so if you're baking with a shitty pan it's no different from using a shitty pan on the stove.

Depending on how you cook it you can kinda disguise poultry as beef (For example, some restaurants to be cheap will use chicken instead of veal for things like veal parmigiana. and unless you look at the meat you won't really tell by taste
>hint: veal will look slightly grey, chicken will be white

but on it's own no they don't taste like it, it's the spices you use and cooking methods. Same with like Tofu. You can make tofu taste like chicken but that depends on the marinade, the spices, cooking method, etc (I think it's easiest with asian recipes).

good luck anon :D

Aight i gotta get some sleep, meeting my trainer tomorrow for some streeeength!

>>
>>40794908
It can be. Try only weighing yourself once a week. or once a month instead. Take photos at every weighin of your progress cause it's easier to see your progress that way.

Your weight fluctuates between 2-3 pounds a day if not more so make sure you keep a consistent time of day to weigh yourself, and make sure your clothes are light (i try to weigh myself naked or in very light clothing so i know my clothes aren't interfering with the number)

Most important, keep an eye on how your clothes fit because this can be the best way to feel great about your progress.

Worse comes to worse: Lose the scale and take body measurements instead.
>>
Dear fatties
Before you begin you need 4 things.

A cheap scale
A cheap smartphone
A tailors tape
Access to a computer with wordpad or abiword

You need to take beginning pictures of yourself before you begin your weighg loss journey. This will keep you honest and help you see that your effort is paying off.
You need the tape and the scale to measure your body and your weight.
These are also vital ways of measuring your self. I would suggest using cenitmeters instead of inches.

Make a wordpad document and put your beginning picture and your measurements in it and label it with that days date.
You will open this wordpad document and put in a new pic and new measurements, which were both taken on the same day, and place it there with that days date.

Get into the habit of doing this. Morning times are preferrable.

All of the above can be found cheaply or are probably laying around in your homes right now.

>>
>>40792285
You must be eating an absolute fuckton for that to happen though
>>
>>40794990
That's a little too much work for most people.

Just make sure you have a way of taking pictures of yourself. For me I just use my cellphone, Take pics until I get a good one (I.e. not blurry or anything), delete the extras, and move on. It'll be timestamped already so all you have to do is flip through them, or better yet, make a folder on your phone for these pics.
Measurements can be tracked on sites like myfitnesspal.

I agree with the tailor's measuring tape (For clarification: Go to the sewing section at walmart and get the measuring tape in case anyone's dumb and doesn't know what anon meant), the cell/computer (Don't need both but they do make inputs easier if you have a computer too) and a scale. A cheap one isn't ideal because sometimes they're shitty and inaccurate so get a mid-priced one IMO or if you go to the gym, use the medical scale they have there (Ask someone how you use it if you're confused).

That said awesome being supportive dude, this thread should be a supportive place.

I suggest taking measurements and weight weekly over daily though. Daily can be obsessive for some and cause discouragement in a lot of beginners.

>>40794994
Change it up once in awhile by making a burrito bowl (Add rice and some cilantro) and mixing that shit all up together. Fucking delicious. Add some lettuce on that, maybe some plain tomatoes.
>>
>>40795032
Lmfao no? Are you a retard?
I was eating 1200 calories every day leading up to it, and since. I workout every day. It's how the body works. It fluctuates. That's why being consistent matters.

A lot of it was water and eating a little too late the night before but not too much.

Weighing multiple times a day, or daily, isn't the way to go unless you average the weight out.

Guys, I'm having trouble starting again.

About november or so last year I started eating 1500 and exercising, and I lost like close to 10kgs in a month, but then I went on holiday and used it as an excuse to not count calories, and I've gained back all of it since then.

How do I get my groove back??

Excercise helps people to lose weight but it's just a bonus you can add. It's the food

cut all dairy and start eating mostly rice, potatos, noodles. you can eat much as you wish and stat losing weight. Booom! Less meat and oils too.

Most of you fatties will fail time after time with low carb diets because it's unnatural and fattening and does not take away hunger drive as startch do. And you love pasta, rice etc.

Ive been seriously losing weight for about 5 months now i think. Im 21, 6'4" ish maybe about 360 right now. Thru hs i did oly and powerlifting training, i was squatting 550, deadlifting 600 at 17. I had scoliosis but it didnt bother me that much, ~22°. I dont train anymore, and as a result i gained fat and lost muscle. I have a good weight set i use semi regularly but nothing hardcore. What kicked my ass into gear was chest pains that started up, my left arms hurts with it sometimes. Different kinds of pain, pinching, stretching, burning, or just general discomfort. Doc did a heart scan first time it happened, i went to er thinking i was having a heart attack, any pain is likely related to musclular/skelatal issues. Well my scoliosis is getting worse and im guessing its pulling on something and i have to strengthen my back muscles all around my spine to try to correct as much as i can. The pain is almost chronic, even though my heart is healthy im alway anxious im going to have a heart attack. I really dont want to die and im pushing through this alone a day at a time and its hell, all i can do is tell myself the pain will stop when i get healthy. Pic is me in dec when all this started

I was a fat kid (around 200lbs when I was like 14-15). Lost about 50lbs in 6 months and maintained/dropped 5 for a couple of years. Now 19 and am around 145lbs, but I don't think my appetite has changed much. Why is this?

I maintain on 1700 calories and I wouldn't find it hard to eat a billion calories every day; it's just that I have better self control now that I know about them.

protein is essential for building muscle. I agree with cutting a lot of dairy (no joke I dropped my first 30lbs in a month by only cutting milk out of my diet) but not having protein at all?? I hope that was a typo.
>>
>>40795201
Even building muscle, it's hilariously overrated. You can get maximum needed muscle building protein you need just from startches.
>>
>>40795201

and to elaborate on what I said, I studied the diets of people who are extremely fit (especially in my life) and a lot of them opt for other foods that aren't dairy, most of the time.

>>40795207
>startches

I personally didnt start losing weight til i upped my protein to over 100g a day and a lot of people who are fit stress more protein in your diet, along with many other people.. so im going to have to agree to disagree. starches can help you build muscle, but to dismiss protein entirely is ignorant.

There is a lot of weight on your already fucked up spine, babe. I'd recommend you slow it down on any lifting and instead focus on your diet and light, light cardio until you're around 300 then consider lifting.

What did your doc have to say about your scoliosis? You need to have that looked at or else it can and will get worse. You may even have a pinched disk now if you're experiencing these symptoms.
>>
I have sympathy with you fatsos up to a point. It is insane how these junk food conglomerates have duped entire generations into completely revising what is considered 'normal' food and with poor education this just gets passed down through families.

BUT

You become adults at some point and should start providing your own food of your own choice. With basic research (you have the fucking internet) you should know what is good to eat. You just need to relearn what you should consider as actual food fit for human consumption (pro tip: if it's processed and comes already prepared it's probably not good).

after drinking water wait 30min-60min or more and wait for the water to get through your system.

If you're still hungry up your protein intake. Drink a glass of milk or eat some oats and peanutbutter. or eat 5oz of chicken instead.

It's just over 1000cal (im sure you know if you know how much pasta you had) but that means eat light today and count the rest of your cals hardcore. It's okay bbz just workout a little more to compensate for it. people have messups.

So right now I am trying to lose weight, about 30 pounds, and then once I hit my preffered weight I want to start bulking up.

I heard that it is bad to try and bulk up while losing weight because it conflicts(eating less and eating more calories) but i also heard that weight lifting can be a great way(even better than running) to lose calories.

My question is should i wait until my preferred weight or just start working out as I lose weight
>>
>>40795342

this is why a lot of bulemics are actually overweight despite them starving themselves half the time then binging the other half. they might not technically be intaking more cals than they consume but it's confusing the body into thinking it's starved so it holds into the extra energy. - then they end up ballooning.
>>
>>40795350
How much is "a bit"
>>40795353
Fair enough. I'll hear you out. Are you saying I should increase my Cal count past 1,000 a day? if the only issue I have right now is Body fat percentage wouldn't it do me better to limit my calories as much as possible and eat properly with things like Lean chicken and Vegies?
>>
>>40795354
The answer to this question is in the sticky but just for my own humor what does your gut reaction think you should do?
>>
>>40795354
As you lose weight you will naturally lose some of your muscle mass. Working out while losing weight promotes muscle preservation. So even if you build little to no additional muscle now, working out now will still put you ahead for building muscle in the future.
>>
>>40795354

you can bulk up while you lose weight, if anything you can do it easier.

can confirm. I'm bulking and cutting at the same time. you just have to make sure you get enough protein carbs and nutrition.

the reason for this is: your fat is essentially unused energy. if your muscles need energy they can pull from your fat.

and another thing: the more muscle you have the faster you'll burn fat while not doing anything.

this why why people who bulk need to constantly eat because they dont have fat reserves.
>>
>>40795360
Starving yourself is not the correct way to lose body fat, you fucking mongo. Yes, it's proven by not eating you shed weight, who'd have fucking thunk it but you need to actually have energy and be able to function.

Right now you're also losing muscle by eating at that low of a deficit. If you want to function like a human being you need to figure out how to eat well and eat correctly.
>>
>>40795374

Femanon here.

same thing happened to me.

so I switched my diet up (try to even out the carbs but I get about 100carbs, 100g protein give or take on both and cut out breads) do about 4-6 smaller meals a day and added calisthenics to my routine... and weight started coming off again. it will only tone you up. you wont bulk up if you're not trying and if you get to a point where you dont want to be you just simply stop. I also started measuring my intake as to what "males" daily reccomended values" are because at 1000-1200 I just was NOT losing any weight what so ever.

from the looks of it - you're probably like me where you gain muscle a lot easier than other females (im judging from your body type seemingly similar to my own) only you're definitely thinner than I am. (pretty sure I have some kind of reproductive issue making my fat go to my stomach) You could get your DNA checked out and analyzed like I did.

My advice is, you're going to have to come to terms with being manlier than other females. It's just how it is. if oyu have what I have you slow metabolize some things but gain muscle easier.

The down side: you have to do HIIT. like strength aerobics and programs like Insanity.

so yes, for your body type especially I'd lift.
