I'm 6'9'' with postural kyphosis but it's getting better. Just started hitting the gym again after a few years of not. I have trouble keeping balance at times doing front squats and cleans. I just heard about these powerlifting shoes. Are they meme shoes? I don't really have a problem keeping my heels on the ground, but it sounds like for taller people it can help. Plus $90 ain't much to ship out for.. I've just been using beat up sneakers for comparison.

Things I noticed and tips for myself:

-Should take a longer and deeper gulp of breath before going down

-Toes should be pointed out a little more

-Head should be pointed down a little so that a tennis ball could fit between my chin and neck (as per the book)

-Right side of bar is shifting forward while left side of bar is shifting backward while coming up halfway (evident in the bar path as shown in set 1 versus warm-up). I'm not sure where this problem came from and in my head I have the right cues in mind (mentally picturing a straight bar path, driving hip evenly while coming up). I did dislocate my left shoulder 2 years ago though. I had limited range of motion to a point it would be painful to rack the bar on my shoulders for a low bar squat. However physiotherapy fixed all of my pain and I don't feel any pain anywhere while making these videos. What's the problem? How do I correct this?

Let me know if my tips for myself are correct and please point out any errors in my squats that I haven't noticed. Thanks in advance!

I hit 6/9. First two squats were easy at 170/180. Unfortunately they set the rack height too high for my last attempt at 190 and had to drop it down which kinda threw my focus off. I went conservative on the bench as I have gorilla arms and legs so I struggle with it. Hit 100, failed 105 (ass off the bench) and then hit 105. Deadlift went pretty well did an easy 220, an ok 230 and then decided to go balls to the wall with an over triple bodyweight deadlift at 242.5. Got it above knees but failed to lockout probably due to fatigue. I squatted my first attempt at like 11am and my last deadlift at 5:30pm

I don't think it's a good idea to stop training completely a week prior. A better idea imo is to do 1-2 extremely light workouts the week before and do some singles at 50-60% 2 days before the meet. Lets you rest but the feeling of the lifts is still in your body.

"Is this a program designed for lifters who take steroids?"
I've been a trainer/coach and writing programs for 16 years. The first incarnation of the 5thSet program came about around ten years ago, because I found myself in a place with very limited training resources, sub-par nutrition and absolutely no access to any type of PED or even protein supplements: State Prison.
I had a group which consisted of myself and at least four or five other experienced guys, at any given time, who consistently followed my programs. It was all but impossible to test a 1RM, except for maybe 1 day per month when we would have access to the inside gym and I would only have them test the max for 1 lift at that time.
We would usually have to train outside with very limited weights so this meant the percentages had to be dialed back. I used the Prilepin Table to estimate the amount of volume that would be required and eventually developed a novel way to self regulate, which would also help with hypertrophy.
I was never really able to squat or deadlift with much more than 70% of my 1RM, due to lack
of available weight in the yard.The lifters I worked with also got very strong, without good nutrition or drugs. It taught me how little you really need to make progress if the program is scalable and systemized. I've tried changing the number of sets and some other key points, but nothing has worked as well, I've come back to the original set-up. I don't believe there is a more effective way, on the long term, to train for strength than this.
So, the short answer is: no, it was not designed for lifters who take steroids. It was designed for a group of lifters who didn't have the option of taking steroids.

Doesn't matter. If you're 100% sure that you'll fail it's better to choose slightly lower weights and make all the reps but otherwise just try and see.

What does your program tell you to do? I'd say it's better to lower the weights immediatly if you can't keep up, it's better to do more work at lower weights and then crush your old records than to fail the same weight several weeks in a row.

If you're not on a huge surplus it's unlikely that the cut affects your recovery that much.

Front squats are much easier for me also I can keep my core tighter, I hyperextend like fuck when I squat for so long so now my numbers are like 50% of before, is this because of weak abs or something? My spine is neutral now and my pelvis does not tuck which is good.

I'm sure front squats are enough for general strength alone but is it worth doing any other quad movements or variations?

Doing Candito's linear (hypertrophy) program but changed the lower hypertrophy day to deadlifting and split it.

Seen something similar recommended a lot on SS forums, so I'm doing:

>Heavy DL, light Squat
>Hypertrophy Upper

I'm definitely happy with the program/gains so far, just not sure about the programming due to not having a "protocol".
Candito mentions not increasing the weight depending on preference but there's not information on stalling.

I'll read into other programs and see how they handle their deloads.

I always hear people saying that it's like 15% extra, whereas other people say it's literal magic and will have you going from average to world class

the people i know totalling the most use the least, the guys doing 900kg totals are doing it on half a gram, people struggling for 700kg are on 2g plus

the difference between the two groups is how intelligently they train, how they eat and how much, and how they go about recovery

i know guys on 2g of gear going out getting drunk and taking rec drugs, barely eating for 2 days then moaning they didnt total what they want, then youve got the big guys taking hardly anything eating a ton, mostly clean, being consistent in amount of calories, consistent in their training, resting and prehabbing properly, giving themselves the best possible chance

what they do is just advance you, your limit is your limit, drugs or not, say they give me 30kg on a lift over you, thats still going to feel just as heavy

On nuckols x3 bench, there are two different progression-test-fridays.

One where you do 80% and increase weight when you hit 9+.
And one where you do 85% where you increase weight when you hit 5+.

I feel like going into 9 rep sets just sometimes drains me out too much and i can't really demonstrate strength at it.
But at the same time the 85% for 5+ seems a little too easy - maybe i can use a 85% set and increase when i hit 6+?
That might be the best mix of both versions to test strength increase for me?

Hm. Well, i am already mixing his medium and high program because i want high volume but also weekly progression-testing.

I just feel like i miss the intensity sometimes and then doing sets of 9 as strength test sometimes feels a little off.
I guess i will just experiment with doing the sets of 5/6 instead and then see what happens. If that fails i will do the program as written.

As for multiply lifting dying, that's not likely going to happen as long as today's "raw" lifter wants to stay in the game. The shelf life of the average raw lifter doesn't last long. Your hips and shoulders will be the first to go. If you want to stay in the game, you'll have no choice but to embrace gear. I would love to train and compete raw but my body stopped letting me a long time ago. Most guys commenting on this thread think they're young and indestructible but your time will come. Either you'll get in gear if you want to keep going or you'll quit.
