Go for a walk, head down to a convenience store or something, and then buy a salad with no cheese or dressing and some water. The salad won't be the best but at least it will get you away from strong temptations and give you a bit of exercise.

YOu don't even have to start at 1500 a day. I ate 2000 a day, which was my maintenance calories, for a weekish just to get used to not gorging on food daily.

1500 cals a day for someone you weight is gonna cause you to rubberband back to gorging. Eat at or 500 below maintenance for a bit until you get that down for a week or so

Don't believe in fad diets. Here, let me run through shit people will recommend.

Keto:
Basically running your body on fat. Your body won't turn into a "fat burning machine" as in fat on your body. People usually fall for this because they lose a lot of water weight in the beginning. You're putting your body at risk for many health problems and ketosis is a terrible state for your body to be in.

Low Carb:
Better than keto, but again the same thing - water weight. You will feel really tired.

These are the two most popular ones

Again, in the end it comes down to calories in vs calories out. If you fuck up on eating healthy, just make sure you don't overeat. Also if you fuck up on one thing, don't just give up and eat like shit for the rest of the day. Understand you're human and make mistakes
You're gonna make it anon. Once you lose weight, you will realize how easy it is to control your weight, body composition, etc. You will lose that "permanently a certain way" thinking

yes keto is a meme, with multiple health risk associated with it. For the most part yes. However 1600 is very low and you'll likely snack your way to 2000 anyway.

I aim for around 1700~1800 and then have a snack or two which will bring me up to 2000. My goal is to stay under 2200. Progress is slow, but it steady when you get out a week or two.

Just don't blow your budget and you'll see progress. Its easy to say, harder to do.

Well, I lost almost 20 lbs last year, started at 147 got down to 129. Then I went through a nasty breakup, got depressed, gained it all back (and then some) and shot up to 160. I've binged the last two nights. I'm aiming for 1200kcal on keto, exercising minimum 4 times a week, 45 minutes. I didn't break keto, but I've been getting drunk on vodka/gin and then falling into my fatty binging ways. Night before last the binge was on salads, but it wasn't what I ate but how I did it that bothered me. My roommate brought home stuff from his hipster grocery store prep job, so he had a bunch of prepared salads. I ate flank steak over cabbage with carrots and cherry tomatoes. Had it dry, no dressing, but immediately after I ate a blue cheese walnut salad, picked out the cranraisin things, no dressing, picked out most of the walnuts, just blue cheese, greens, some walnut, and bacon bits. Ate that. After that, I had leftover bacon-y blue cheese stuff so I scrambled two eggs, added that until it got melty, then ate that. Then I fell asleep on the couch.

That was a binge. I'm doing it again. That's how I got this far gone. I don't want to be doing that. I had already had a significant portion of my calories that day, so I think I went over but I doubt I broke ketosis.

Last night, after work, where I'd gotten boozed up by the bartender (I'm a cook) I stopped by my favorite food truck around the area (halal spot) and got combination grilled chicken and lamb over salad (omitting the basmati rice) it's one of my favorite things to eat since tzatziki sauce isn't too many carbs.
Ate the whole thing. All of it, then passed out.
I may not have gone over my calories at all last night, but I was full half way through. It's a generous serving. I usually eat half and save the other half. I did not, I gorged.

I'm feeling so low about it. I'm getting really depressed. I want to stop this, if I do that again the next time I get drunk, I'm going to have to stop drinking

Put 5 lbs on the scale. Depressing to see, but take comfort knowing it's at most 1lb of actual fat, should drop back down after day or two of proper diet.

If I eat anywhere from 1500 to 1800 every day zig-zagging each time with no real strict number I'm not going to be losing much weight, am i? Sure, almost anything works for a beginner. When you stop progressing, add more days between doing leg movements and the same for bench. If the amount of days is three or more, do a light workout in between instead of not doing anything. Make sure to to train your scapula retractors and lats with some kind of rows and pulldowns so you don't get fucked up shoulder from only benching.

Your TDEE is the amount of calories you observe to maintain your weight, not what an online calculator tells you. So get to weighing your food and yourself. You can of course take a guess and aim for a caloric deficit right away, no need to precisely know your TDEE before you begin cutting weight. But only concern yourself with your own measurements when it comes to determining where your calorie intake is in relation to your expenditure. Believe it or not, a huge number of obese people eat for this very reason. Many are either stress eaters or depressed eaters, but it's a never ending cycle. You need to break out of it by finding another avenue to get it out. Do you have a gym membership yet? Maybe try find a 24 hour one and whenever you're stressed, go work out. I am a stress eater who converted it to running. Whenever I had emotional upsets I would run until my brain couldn't process anything anymore. Works wonders. Good luck!

Well I just went to the gym for the first time
5'9 205lbs, tried the Sean's10mm fitness schedule at the rec center at my uni. My and gf went there, did a warm up lap run and went down to the equipment. I didn't know anything about doing weights so I asked a staff where you could so squats. I felt judged there by all the chads who were liftinf and knew what they were doing and half the time we were standing around not sure what to so. I know I did squats wrong because I can feel it in my back. We finally finished 3 sets of squats and went to bench press. I knew where that was but once we got there I realized I forgot all about towels, so we just skipped it. I asked the same staff guy about doing deadlifts and he said they only could do that in the squat rack area or to just grab some barbells and do it in the open, which we did. I felt like an idiot the entire time and after we did a set of that I just told my gf we were done and left. I'm really not liking it and wish there weren't so many people around, I was embarrassed the entire time

I don't. I avoid eating out, it costs many times more anyway. If you're eating a friend's cooking, you can try to control your intake by relying on your feeling of hunger. Don't eat enough to satiate yourself. If you're hungry at the end of the day, you're most likely below your expenditure. Unless you ate a shit ton in the morning. If you're willing, reduce the frequency you eat their cooking over your own. Maybe you can get them to start calorie counting too.

Research more about form so you can feel like you what you're doing because you actually do. You can't do good form without practicing first so even if you're bad in the beginning you can still say that you know what you're doing: you're developing the skill to do what you learned in theory. I only started counting calories a few months ago and the progress has been slower, but that's expected as I weigh much less now.

Currently eating 1700 kcal / day and I started doing a PPL program last week after not lifting for a while, so I work out six days/week but each workout is not THAT intense, only a bit short of an hour in length usually.
So far I feel like I can keep going on the current kcal intake, and I make sure that a lot of my calorie intake consists of protein, my diet consists essentially of meat, broccoli, spinach, lentils and protein shakes of different kinds.

So my question is whether or not this is a good idea, according to all of the TDEE calculators I am eating far below the recommended amount even for a cut. I basically want to cut down to a point where I can comfortably do a clean bulk.

First time using a bike machine since high school.

You mean lat pulldown? The lat refers to the latissimus muscle. Though with a wide pronated grip the elbows do move pretty much laterally like in lateral raise but in reverse direction. But supinated-grip pulldowns are also called lat pulldowns. So I think lateral pulldown describes an entirely different movement, like a reverse lateral raise?

Well, insulin is anabolic, and spikes of insulin without working out becomes fat, so if I eat a carb loaded meal/dessert, that happens.

I fixed it by doing it backwards; eating almost no carbs (not keto because I'd die) and daily exercise, so now my insulin levels are 1/4 of what they were before.

I'm down 30lbs.

Portion size is more or less everything in this situation and I think we (as overweight people) tend to think in more black-and-white terms even after learning about nutrition. Is it ok for me to calculate my defecit weekly instead of daily? Eating 1000 calories a day is more difficult than eating 700 one day and 1300 another but I'm not sure if metabolism can be flexible like that.

Alright fatties, I used to be actual /fit/ but fell off the wagon hard.
I'm 6 foot 3 and weigh 150kg/330lbs

I'm back to working out but find it hard without skinsâ„¢ type underwear. Not actual skins but you know the generic brands.
I'm looking for a pair that will actually fit me.. I've bought 2 different ones online and they were unbelievably tight/uncomfortable. 20 dollars a pop too.

Got myself a pair from Aldi, 16 dollars and it's pretty damn tight, especially around the waist (waistband digging in) but I make do with wearing it.

Anyone here know any good places to get a pair for larger large men (we might be similar sizes and issues since we /fat/)?
Preferably decent affordable too. Online or in-store.
I'm Aus, so online option for American or European only stores

I should add although tight the aldi pair was the least uncomfortable/tight.

And since I'm posting again , pic related is a protein powder I get from Aldi and it's pretty damn cheap (33 serves per tub @ $30) and actually good protein.

Mixes with water and vanilla tastes great, if a little frothy at the end. Smooth as silk though.

The only exception is just straight walking. I tried doing jumping jacks, tried my elliptical, etc they all cause it to tighten up a LOT in my foot (for llocation, imagine your foot has a thumb, it's about there-ish)

Fuck no. I smoke first because I can go longer. Without weed I start getting tired after 30 minutes but if I smoke first I usually zone out on cardio and get through it before I even realize I'm sweating you feel me?

Plus some studies have shown there's benefits to working out while stoned in regards to weight loss.

I don't need to reward myself to get motivated to work out, I just need to make sure I'm standing and ready to work out soon as I'm done with my bowl/joint/whatever instead of sitting at my desk smoking leisurely until I'm coming down and forget I was gonna work out in the first place.

This is me just admitting my shortcomings so far rather than tryng to make an excuse or anything you know? I already know what I need to do to fix it and i'm going to do so going forward, I just don't want to lie to myself and say I was just "too tired" when really I was "too stoned" to remember.

Admitting there's a problem is the first step to recovery after all.

Sup lads. I've changed my diet big time and have only been eating meats like chicken breast, fish, vegetables and eggs as my main meals. 5'7 male, 24 years old, started at 241 and lost 4.5 pounds in my first week. My TDEE is 2400 (rounded down from like 2430something).

I've been tracking daily calories on my fatness app, but the issue I'm having (or lack thereof) is that I'm generally not even hitting 1000 calories a day. I'm generally eating very little and mostly don't feel hungry. I'm currently between jobs so I have nothing to do all day, so I'll sleep in until 2pm or so, wake up, sometimes have a small breakfast like a Greek yogurt and a piece of fruit or granola bar, then will have a full meal dinner around 6pm where I have my protein and veggies, enough to really fill me up but the calories are never over like 600 or so, and then I'm usually good for the rest of the night until I eventually go to bed super late (around current time, 4-5am). Sometimes I have a small snack like some nuts or a Greek yogurt but generally I don't.

Anyone have experience with this? It seems to have been working. My second week weigh in is tomorrow so hopefully I cut another 4 lbs or so.

When I was depressed I couldn't see the point either. From the age of 16 to 25 just getting through the days was hard enough. Luckily for me I started to enjoy life again late last year, and now getting fit is just one of the many things I'm excited about. I'm not entirely sure what triggered the change in my emotional state but I think it was getting very sick for a few months and having to decide if I would get healthy or just be sick and miserable forever. Maybe you will have to face a decision like this too before you start to care.

Yeah it's happened to me. I think part of it is like..all the garbage worked its way out of your system (i.e no cravings) so you don't recognize real hunger pangs because they feel different from cravings.
You need to eat the right amount though because not eating enough will stagnate your loss and you'll lose weigh at a snail's pace.

I had this problem a few hours ago. I kept putting off getting the other half of my dinner because I didn't feel hungry, but when I checked my tracked it said I was dangerously low. So I went and ate more and I realized as I ate I was a little hungry.

Now I feel fine. I still have like 300 calories left but i don't think i can really eat anymore. i'm just not hungry.
