Show us your dinner, fellow fats.

Last Thread >>40581951

Who is /fat/ for? Fat members of /fit/ who want to learn how to eat right, lift weights, and lose fat. Here we ask others for advice and give moral support to one another. We all know how hard it first is and we all have to get through it to better ourselves. At the end of the day this is a support general whose goal is to help and motivate the chubby channers who need it.

It could be a few things, but the solution is all the same. You're eating too much and need to cut more, you need to put some cardio in your routine, or you have some stubborn water weight. Cut some calories this week and work out a little more, then check next week.

I miss drinking so much, that's the only thing that's gonna set me back. I can't sleep, I have headaches, I'm aggressive all the time ever since I stopped drinking because of weight loss.

Honestly, I don't even care about hunger since it comes and goes but I do miss drinking man. I used to drink a bottle of wine every day, I haven't drank in the last week but I'm struggling. Is there a way to cope with this?

Start doing a strength program like SS or something similar for at least 6 months and then move onto whatever you want (Bodybuilding, power lifting, O-lifts, strongman, crossfit, etc.) Also stretch my man. Your hips, back, hamstrings, etc are probably horribly tight and need a lot of work if you've been doing nothing but sitting for the past 2 years.

here's to another week. week 6. pls go better
>>
How good would a pair of customizable dumbbells be for weight loss/muscle definition? I plan to eat a 700-1000 calorie deficit each day and won't have any other exercise equipment.
>>
>>40598526
If those chips were from a packet then you've definitely gone over maintenance. 1 pack of 200g chips can be 1500 fucking calories.

>>40598547

Who here has slayed the emotional eating demon? I've spent the last two years fucking yo-yo-ing, losing motivation hard. Started lifting like 3 years ago @ 150kg+. I get soo fucking close to the last bit, and then fuck it up. I've lost the same 15kg like 3 fucking times now :/. I go from like 125kg to 110kg over and over. My last dexa almost a year ago I was 21% bf...at 116kg, got down to 110kg, hurt my knee, went up to 130kg, down to 120kg, up to 130kg, down to 125kg currently.

Problem isn't even meal prep any more (I didn't have time to cook because I just focused on upping my income hardcore for a few months, but now I can spend ~$200 a week to get everything prepped, cooked & delivered), problem is I have a freezer filled with healthy food at all times, healthy meals defrosting in the fridge, and I deal with emotional stress / anxiety by going and getting a greasy fucking burger / shitty snack food. I eat fine for a bit, then something stresses me out / fucks with my state, and I use food to cope with it.

What do? Antidepressants seem like they're more trouble than they're worth (weight gain and impotency come at me)? Therapy? Meditation?

Meditation helps especially when those cravings hit. You just sit down and ride out the urges until they dissipate.

For practical matters, try finding "healthy" options to binge on. Like carrots, celery with hot sauce, or cheese and jerky.
>>
>>40599644

Just spent all day doing meal prep. I learned I'm pretty slow at it and should probably split it up next time but I'm also really happy. It'll keep both my husband and I on track and I don't have to cook all week which means more time for work outs!
>>
>>40597084
That's awesome dude. A few years ago I was on a good path and managed to drop three pants sizes and I cried when I put on a pair of pants that I couldn't button before and found they fit.

Then my ex and I broke up and I ate my feelings.

It was seeing this effect in reverse (I've never been larger than a size 16 (femanon) so it freaked me out that I was getting bigger) that got me to change again. I went out and spent a ton of money (like almost a full $1000) on home gym equipment (no excuses if it's at home) and stuff so I could meal plan (pyrex and extra mixing bowls and shit)

So I'm ready to do this.
>>
>>40602848
cold showers are tough to start with, when I got my new house I had no hot water for 4 months so I had to deal with it and eventually it gets easy to do.

I don't think they will help you lose weight really, but it does wonders for your willpower.
>>
>>40594794
Worked out so hard today I had to actually take a breather after my deadlift set, even though it was light because I don't DL often so I need to get my muscles used to the movements again.

Got home, bought enough chicken and rice to last a week, can't seem to put down the carbonated jew though but I'm still below my TDEE by a wide enough margin that it won't affect my weight loss.

My body is fucking burning and it's not all the Cayenne pepper I put on my chicken.

I am having trouble maintaining a proper diet. I don't mean that I don't have the self-control, I do, but I have been counting calories and measuring things and it is just a big pain to portion things out precisely the same way all the time.

Is there an easy way of keeping track of calorie intake without having to bust out the scale?
>>

>on top of all that, I'm cutting at probably around a 1k deficit (5'11, 205 lbs, 1500 calories a day)

I skipped my workout today brehs

I know it's not the most ideal thing, but if I'm still following my diet, one extra rest day wont kill me r-right?

>not gonna make it

But today was long, and it's supposed to be leg day...which is fucking boring.
>>
Is bread really that bad?

I've been thinking of adding a toast with some butter on it with morning coffee.
>>
>>40603065
>picking things up and putting them down
>eating right
>drinking the carbonated jew
You understand that it's undoing all your hard earned progress, no? Switch to diet drinks if you're so addicted to sugar.

>>40603086
You have to put in the effort if you want results. That being said, if you're lazy you can buy things that are already portioned on the pack so you know the exact caloric content beforehand without weighing. But it means you lose a little control over what and how much you want to eat
>>
>>40603132
The wheaty jew is pretty bad because its just carbs, lots of calories and the Chinese food of the west in that it doesn't fill you up at all. If you're looking for breakfast food you're better off with boiled eggs or some fruit, aren't you?
>>
>>40603132

What's the bare minimum calorie intake for a healthy cut?
On a 1500cut right now and managing it quite easily. Would it be cool for me to cut it lower to like 1200 without killing myself?
>>
>>40603291

>>
>>40603298
5'9, 170, down from 180.
>>
>>40603254
Try it!

ngredients:

25g scoop of any flavour whey protein (chocolate works best)
10g Cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Enough almond milk to for a stiff batter (any milk will work just as good)
Method:

•mix the dry ingredients together in a large mug, add the milk and stir to form a thick paste

•Microwave on full power for about 90 seconds (microwave times will vary)

•That’s it. (It’s literally that simple) enjoy
>>
>>40603291

Healthy cut is when you can comfortably hit your protein and fats.

It's very easy to cut carbs for lower calorie intake.

I canno't give you outright the absolute bare minimum calorie intake but you can definitely do 'healthy' 1200kcal/day if you get it purely from chicken breast, veggies, fruits, oats, greek yogurt etc.

Doable and not unhealthy. It comes to losing 3.5lbs a week and 2300 cals a day (with moderate excercice). The hardest part is to be consistent through the journey.

1500 a day, low carb (but not keto) and at least 3 hours of jogging a week, split up over the week.

For the last 3 months or so:
around 1500-1800 calories a day, I don't track macros. Jump rope HIIT 3 times a week and I walk at least 3.5 miles 5 days a week.

I have a cheat meal once a week that's big enough to make me not want to eat for the rest of the day.
I think I'm going to give IF a go soon
>>
>>40604514
If you've gone this far IF probably isn't necessary, the only people it really helps are those who probably don't eat breakfast anyway and love having one massive, calorie-dense meal
>>
Just started my cut yesterday, trying to stay steady at 1500 - 1800 calories a day.
5'11" - 270 lbs, want to get down to 245 (any more than that and I look emaciated).
Also note, I'm ftm trans and started T in October last year so I imagine that will help in some small way.

I have no idea what I'm doing at the gym so I feel at a loss, I've never worked out before beyond physical labor (worked on a farm with horses). My dysphoria made me feel hopeless in the past years and I gave up on myself in a lot of ways. Trying to fix that now, what a wreck.
>>
>>40604952

>>40605467

>>40605953
Yes, quite a bit if you do it right. No, you don't count workouts in your daily calories. Some people say to do so and they're the ones who won't make it. "B-but my app says I walked a lot today so deserve this high protein chocolate bar" type of shit
>>
>>40605953
Yes.
No.

Never include workouts in your calorie counting unless you're doing long distance running, HIIT, or 2-3 hour lifting sessions (with constant lifts).
Even then just add like a chicken breast or extra protein scoop, don't add an entire meal.

I prefer a big breakfast and big dinner vs no breakfast.

I don't like bringing lunch to work, such a pain in the ass. So I just eat big before and eat big after.
Everyone does no breakfast but that doesn't make sense to me, I want the energy for the day and I lift in the mornings.

Hey i don't know if i'm welcome here but i don't think anyone on thinspo will answer me this question correctly

I'm currently sort of skinny fat (172 cm 57kg) probably sitting between 17% and 20% bodyfat

I have muscles primarily in my arms, chest and legs from calisthenics and running, my question is, if i work these while at a caloric deficit (-800 or -1000) on a low carb high fat high protein diet will it actually help to keep them while i'm losing bodyfat?

I'm not looking to gain muscle while losing fat because i'm aware that's impossible but i was wondering whether working them out would help to lose the least muscle possible

Or should i just go full cardio and then bulk a little bit afterwards? I just want to get lean, not huge
>>
set your calorie goal to be the maitnence of your goal weight, and you'll be happy for life
>>
>>40606161
I do a lot better if i train fasted for some reason but i guess it depends on the person
>>
>>40606170

Yes. You want to lift as much, heavy, and frequent as possible when cutting to maintain as much muscle as possible.
High protein diet as well.
>>
>>40606170
Read the new section in the sticky that covers body composition. Work out, get your noob gains, and keep running, you actually can gain some muscle if you're new. But don't cut at -800 or -1000 if you're just skinnyfat, you'll lose far too much muscle. Some cardio, some lifti-

I keep over eating. I was at 1200 calories today before bed and i usually have 1800/day, which works for me. I thought it would be ok to have a little something so I ate some soup and mini shrimp which added up to 420 calories.

There were ribs laying around from last night and i hadn't had any since i work night shift and have to leave immediately. I THOUGHT one would be okay. 800 calories later I am a day farther from 160 lbs.

Old fag, 38, 110 kilograms, 1year 9 months gym after many years off. Doing 5 days split one day only cardio 45 min, everyday 20-40 min cardio. Still 110 kilos, strength gains came but not spectacular as everyday workout would suggest. I watch people come and go for a few months with visible results. Now March April people to fix body for summer beaches are starting to come for a couple of months.
I go to the doctor for checkup, everything very good except testosterone is abysmally low. Well not just low but below safety health levels. Doctor suggested hormonal therapy but asked if I am trying to have children this time, which is true, and told me I couldnt have itnow. I am feeling fat and 100 years old while benching 1+3/4 plates. I am losing my will to live. This life sucks.

Get a kitchen scale. Weighing stuff adds at most a few minutes total per day to your time spent preparing food. Weighing a single ingredient and recording it takes maybe 20 seconds. Especially if you eat the same stuff everyday, you can just memorize the amounts and skip the recording part for even less time spent.

There's a local weight loss event going on, and they're offering free classes at the YMCA, CrossFit, local yoga place, and 10% off at the local bike/running store.

I have a home gym, and pretty severe anxiety, but I really want to make sure my form is correct with the lifts on the SL5x5 program. There aren't many lifting classes at our local YMCA, but there is a "LIT (low intensity interval training)" and "HIT" class that say they use free weights and running. I know I can just go and try it for free, but I don't want to have an anxiety pants pooping episode and not even learn anything.

I've had it happen within 10 minutes of leaving my house. The worst part is, my parents don't believe anxiety is a real thing and they think I'm shitting myself because I don't want to go places.

The key is not to push your body too much. JOG, don't run at max speed because you'll get a heart attack and knee problems. Just jog slowly(that's more than enough at your wieght) and spread the first 2-4 weeks out so youre doing maybe 1 or 2 day a week max. The other days do low impact cardio (like e bikes)

Is it your ankles that lack mobility? Squat shoes help with lifting your heels while being steadier than a plate under them.

Or is it that you're forced to bring your knees far forward because your hips can't bend enough? Stretching can increase mobility in either one.

Like >>40610905 said, forcing yourself into a squat position where the tight areas get stretched and staying there for at least a few minutes will help.

hey /fat/, posted the other day about how im going to quit smoking cigs

5 days in, I'm feeling great. No urges or anger surprisingly, though I'm sure that's from going to the gym.

I'm also trying to quit weed, see if that improves my social anxiety at all. Wish me luck

Thanks. I was having a hard time trying to get my ankles angled right and I couldn't manage to get my center of gravity correct. I needed to lean forward really hard or stand on my toes to correct it.

Can you get your knees to go beyond your toes like in all the different squat postures? Also, if you keep your back straight, can you at least bend over to make 90 degree angle like pic related?
>>
>>40611602
I can do that bend. The only position from the chart that I can even do without standing on my toes is the rightmost one.
>>
That feeling when you wake up and before you even open your eyes you feel how disgusting your belly is hanging on the side

Weird. The front squat position is usually the hardest since it has the most forward knee position. Well, do the slav squat stretching every day and hopefully it'll get fixed.

Supposed to be 150.

I lift a lot.

How much can I cut while still lifting and gaining muscle? Im currently eating 2150 calories a day, but I want to be at least 160 by June but it seems extreme and not likely. What do?
>>
Hey guys, I just got out of highschool, im 18 years old, 5'10" and 220lbs.

Where do I start? I read the sticky and i can kinda understand the basics like terminology, but the actual aspect of putting in practice if foreign to me.

I want to get fit before anf during college, and Im just so frustrated because none of my """""friends""""" will offer any help.

I have like no physical ability, and I just need ways to build it up.

My mother gave me a membership to the local YMCA as a graduation gift, and I would really like to use it.

Fuck guys, 5'9 205 lbs here doing lifting 3x a week with cardio the other 2, trying to do 2000 calories a day, how will this end for me if I want to get back down to 180?
>>
You're in a good situation because you're only 18. By the time you're a sophomore or junior you'll be fit enough to get all the bitches don't worry about Freshman year.

Find your TDEE and track every.single.calorie. you eat. Buy a scale for your weight and one to weigh food.

Then calculate what you want to lose. I'd say one lb a week is a good start so -500 from your TDEE.

Eating is the most important.

Lifting is fun, Find a fun routine I suggest

https://www.reddit.com/r/Fitness/comments/4uijsl/a_detailed_look_at_why_stronglifts_starting/

You don't have to start out heavy, start out with nothing if you need to just make it a habbit or find another easier plan.

Most importantly you should try to go for a decent weight right now.

Just try to reach 150/160 lb. At 1 lb/week loss it's going to take you more than a year. 2lb/ a week works too but it's going to be way too hard for you and you'll just give up.

Just focus a year on weight loss- cardio and eating under your calorie deficit. Try to eat mostly protein and drink water to fight off hunger.

You can lift while you're doing that to lift muscle and burn calories that way, I actually recommend it it's better than just cardio.

It's hard to tell how well everything's gonna look when I take the weight off but I do have a pretty good gut and my chest is a bit flabby too. Ive been trying to cut down for the beach again just as a motivational goal. I'm fine with 190 this year, but I'm going to try to not gain the weight again this next winter like a retard.

>Long fag response here.

I started losing weight by just randomly eating 1500 calories per day.

My metrics are 5'11' or 185cm and 237 Ib or 108Kg.

After keeping my calories strictly at 1500 calories per day from Feb 5th 2017 until today. I feel like I've been eating too little and my body isn't responding well to it. I'm not getting pains or anything I just feel different in a bad way. My weight isn't melting off like it used to and my body just seems okay never eating anymore. I started looking into more calculations and shit like that and I've been finding a lot of forums and articles saying that I should just eat at a higher level and just do the weight loss for the long haul instead of trying to melt it off.

I changed my calories to 2340 calories a day. Given I currently weigh 219 pounds at 5'11”. I set the log on my fitness pal to lightly active and 1 pound per week. I'm going to start working a construction job and I do at least half an hour of cardio plus weight lifting and an hour of cardio on my off days.

I don't really know what my question is I'm just wondering if people think this is a good idea and if anyone has had any similar experiences trying to rush all the weight off and then switching to a longer drawn out plan.
>>

Trolling aside, you really do have to lose weight as though you're a female for now, at least until you've been on HRT for a few years. You have the rare gift of free steroids, so if you want to look like a man you should take advantage of that by cutting and gaining muscle mass at the same time due to those drugs.

I think that most importantly one should look at info available online. Books, articles, videos, etc. Sure some of it is bad but info gotten from gym-goers is more likely to be bogus. Trainers are only slightly better. It's best to go through a lot of info so you don't get misled from trusting the first source you encounter.
