How's that cut going, /fat/? Done your 1h exercise today?

Last Thread - >>40562996

Reminder to read the sticky.

Who is /fat/ for?: Fat members of /fit/ who want to learn how to eat right, lift weights, and lose fat.

Here we ask others for advice and give moral support to one another. We all know how hard it first is and we all have to get through it to better ourselves. At the end of the day this is a support general whose goal is to help and motivate the chubby channers who need it.

surprise but they come in different sizes, thats why you should buy a food scale and weigh them.
>>
>>40582834
But in the US you buy them according to size, so they're all within a certain margin of weight and you shouldn't need to weigh them.
>>
>>40582994
This, you cant weight fucking everything.

You just assume based on their size

Anyone can help with a good workout with 2.5kg kettlebells?

Currently i have
2x 25 deadlift
2x 20 squats with kettlebell
2x 20 raise arms with a 2.5kg kettlebell each
2x 20 russian swing with both kettlebells
2x 50 moving the kettlebell around me
2x 15 american swing
2x 20 pulling up both kettlbells with one hand

Is this enough? do i need to add more? This is for losing weight mostly
>>
>>40582994
>>40583004

>not gonna make it
i actually bought a food scale for work so i can weigh food at my work.
>>
>>40581966
are you asking why they're different, why they're low, or something else? how long have you been lifting? what sort of progression are you going for? are you hitting your macros? are you utilizing proper form for maximum gains?
>>
>>40583041
so you're doing weighted aerobics?
>>
>>40583143
i guess so
>>
>>40583145
as far as aerobic workouts goes it looks all right. you're using different muscle groups and a wide range of motion. but with that sort of cardio you need to make sure to keep your heart rate up and sustain it for the duration of the exercise. as long as you're doing that you're golden. go up in kettlebell weight once it becomes easy.
>>
>>40583161
>>40583145
also, make sure you don't use momentum to move the kettlebells. i've seen a lot of people do that when they run a low weight/high rep routine. start each rep from a dead stop.
>>
>March came in lion
>ED also came in like a lion
Are there any techniques to curb appetite? I started drinking tea religiously and that has helped curb some of it. But I'm still having +3000 calorie days and when that happens there's only so much I can purge out.
>>
>>40583207
Tea is good, as you've seen. Black coffee is also good (make cold brew, which has less acid and is a bit sweet naturally.)

IF can help get you on the right track as once you're able to restrict your eating to a 6 or 8 hour window it'll be more difficult to binge eat without feeling a lot of discomfort.

Ice water is good, too. I munch on the ice cubes while browsing or playing games. It keeps me occupied and full (to an extent.)

Pickles are excellent since they're calorie free (or virtually so.) Look into other zero-to-low calorie snacks.

If you feel the urge to eat try delaying feeding for thirty minutes. That's all. After the time's up reevaluate. If you have to eat, grab a small portion and force yourself to not get more for thirty minutes. If you're successful in maintaining that little bit of self-control you'll soon be able to curb your desires on a larger scale.

Figure out what you're doing when you decide to binge. Are you sitting around watching TV? Playing vidya? Make sure you aren't eating out of boredom.

From reading these threads, I've concluded that you guys have a really fucked up idea of what healthy looks like and want to lose weight way too quickly. There's no reason an adult male (yes, even one that is losing weight) should eat less than 2000 calories. You guys are setting yourselves up for failure by eating so little and restricting carbs. You're gonna end up in a binge-refeed recycle and stress the fuck out of your body.

Also it seems you guys only do cardio? Don't believe the lies that you should lose weight before doing weightlifting exercise. Do that as you lose weight. Even if you don't build the full mass you could if you were bulking, you'll build some. Barbell lifts are the best exercise and sure beats doing 40+ minutes of cardio.

i agree with the first part, i say it all the time but a lot of people just want to lose weight as quickly as possible, then they come here and say i ate 8000 calories today help.

About the second part, i think lifting is a meme, the issue i have with lifting is the risk of injury is just too high. It is so important to do everything with correct form and if you have ever been to a gym half the people do i wrong.
Most sports will also lead to general fitness and an aesthetic body, you won't build muscle as fast but thats totally fine.
>>

Hey I got a question; 234 here, used to be 250 at the start of January. if I just eat 1000 calories max a day and take vitamin C and multivitamins, is it a healthy way to lose?

My stats:
>6'3"
>(now)234.9 pounds
>Bench: 185 for 3x5
>Squat: 215 for 3x5 (I know I've been slacking)
>Deadlift: 275 for 2x10
>OHP: 120 for 3x10

>You're gonna end up in a binge-refeed recycle and stress the fuck out of your body.
Speak for yourself anon, I'm doing IF with a 1000kcal deficit and have zero desire to binge eat. I lift weights and do cardio

Mind over matter. Should be done my cut april 1st. I'd shoot myself in the face if I was losing weight at a 1-2 lb/week rate, 3-4 lbs is where it is at.

That's what I'm saying, though. Dieting that way is stressful on the nervous system. Most of the fatties in this thread aren't bodybuilding style cutters, they're just cutting for general weight loss and this method is not as sustainable longterm. Although risk of injury is there, that's true of any exercise. There's a little bit of wiggle room, I think. Your form would have to be real fucked up to just snap your shit up. If injuries are of concern, then use the cable machines. The point is just that strength training is just as important as cardio.

packaged tuna or salmon
frozen fish
cheap cuts of beef, like flat iron steaks

as far as a whole meal, stir fry is quick and easy (especially if you prep the vegetables one day so you can just toss in a wok and get shit done)

omelettes are always good, too

i like making a couple of shepherd's pies and freezing them in individual containers. they hold up pretty well.

Try meal prepping, you only need 2 hours to prepare food for a week.

On home days (3x/week) Pilates/Barre, cardio and yoga.
Other 3 days per week, gym for compound lifts and swimming/sauna/jacuzzi.
Rest 1 day.
I don't wanna end up with loose skin so going for recombination rather than cutting but still count and limit calories and carbs to reasonable amounts on all days.
It's working so far, I'm losing, getting stronger and no flabby parts.

>>40585527
Does cooked chicken make it a whole week in the fridge fine? What kind meals do you prep?
>>
>>40585587
If you don't mind the chicken drying out a bit then yeah, it's fine. I grill chicken once a week starting this time of year and the last piece isn't the greatest, but it isn't rotten by any means.

I'm not into a lot of meal prep nowadays. I used to do stews, one pot meals, etc and freeze the leftovers, but now I eat a lot of salads, which can be prepped from day to day. It's nice because the meat is cooked and I just have to assemble it with pre-cut veggies. When I eat potatoes I wrap them in a wet papertowel after puncturing the skin and microwave them for about eight minutes.
>>
>>40583041
Why not just buy the standard 8kg beginner kettlebell and do one of the many standard routines for it? More effective.

Now that I'm trying to eat only 1800 h

I'm only trying to do it for Lent but it's given me far more appreciation for healthier food in terms of calories.

>>40585587
>Does cooked chicken make it a whole week in the fridge fine? What kind meals do you prep?

i prepare pretty much any normal meal, if you cook the chicken properly and put it in a sealed container it will be good for a week, if you are paranoid you can just freeze it.

Former hugefat here. Now am swolefat.

Started at 295 pounds last June (I'm 6'2"). Began with weightlifting, cycling (for transportation), and cutting out fast food and sodas. No calorie/macro counting, just abstaining from obviously shitty food.

Got down to 255 by October. From there didn't lose any weight or gain any strength for 2 months. I must've been eating at maintenance (like I said didn't count cals/macs).

Decided I needed to track my calorie intake if I wanted to continue to lose weight. Downloaded MFP and set my goal to lose 2 pounds a week. Adjusted the macros in the app to get 35% cals from protein, 35% from carbs, and 30% from fat.

Am down to 231 now. MFP had me at 2,340 cals but I dropped it to 2,200 and kept my macros at the same %. Everyone is telling me I'm too skinny but my goal is to cut to 220, bulk 5 pounds on a clean bulk, then cut again to 210. Probably stay on a bulking/cutting cycle until I'm completely satisfied with my physique.

My only setback in my eating habits is getting my kids on the weekends. I buy them chips and snacks because they're 7 and 4 and deserve a treat, but after they go to bed I'll end up digging into their junk food and regretting it the whole time. Willpower isn't great. It's easy to eat right when I don't have the junk food around me.

We're all gonna make it guyz
>>
>>40585800

This is me. Also worth noting that I jumped headfirst into bodybuilding at the very beginning of my weight loss. Muscle burns fat even while you sleep. It is possible to make strength/size gains and lose weight at the beginning. When you run into a plateau you'll have to decide if building more muscle or burning fat is more important to you.

My lifts are currently at (5RM)
Bench: 275
Incline Bench: 205
OHP: 155
Pull Ups: 4 Bodyweight
Pendlay Rows: 185
Diddlies: 375
Squats: 275
Preacher Curl: 110
Standing Curl: 95
>>
>>40584160
I'm not sure why fatties just leap up off the couch one day and decide to try and lose quick by getting super strict but every single diet/exercise program that's decent says to check with your doctor first.
That said, something doesn't have to be sustainable long term if it works meantime and then they go on to something reasonable and don't regress to their old ways. If they are reasonably healthy, they can fast some and their weight + lack of endurance at first is going to restrict the amount of cardio intensity they can put in.

Let them starve and flail about a while, it won't really hurt anything.
>>
>>40585381
Why would you need to weigh any food? It doesn't make any sense.
Chicken says how much it weighs on the package. Simply divide it up in to even portions and do the math.
The +/- 50 calories really isn't going to matter.
>>
>>40583207
Stop purging. Nothing else you do is going to help you until you can get it under control. I'd do small strict calorie-controlled meals rather than one meal with IF, one big meal feels a lot like a binge to some people where 4 smaller meals may not. It depends what's triggering you.

Fresh fruits, fresh veg, grains, serving sizes of sauces, dressings, portion size/weight vs just eyeballing it, lots of reasons to weigh and measure. Many people are surprised how inaccurate their estimating can be, others are better at it.

People crying about it, well then don't do it. But if your weight loss stalls, that's the first thing to suspect, inaccurate calorie counting and over-estimating portion sizes.
>>
>>40585938
>Having to measure fruit/veggies
They're so low calorie and you can literally just select the largest calorie sizing on myfitnesspal for fruits (apples, bananas, etc)
Grain you can use a measuring cup.
Who the fuck measures sauces or even uses so much sauce it'll make a different

Measuring food is autistic unless you're already a low weight trying to bulk a very specific amount in very slowly, or even cut to a really low bf% (body builders and so on).
If you're unsure ALWAYS overestimate how much you're eating.

Dried fruits are full of calories, so are even smaller quantities of most nuts and seeds, and fatties are notorious for drowning things in sauces and flooding salads in dressings. If counting calories and especially carbs, weighing helps.

As I said, those who don't want to measure or weigh that much, well just don't. No one cares if you don't want to do why the fuss?
I like to so I do. I still over-estimate some things sometimes so weighing helps me stay on track,

Then dumps a ton of dried cranberries and pecans on and covers it in creamy or oily dressing.

Who has NOT seen this behavior? They can't be trusted to estimate.
But don't just take my word, the first thing a fatty going to a dietician gets on their list is a scale.

Red wine, champagne and all types of balsamic vinegars are delish too. They mix with a bit of mustard and some plain Greek yoghurt and spices to make a kick ass creamy vinaigrette dressing too. I've ditched creamy dressings for this instead.

Fatties lack discipline so when they become motivated the first thing they try to do is exert as much will power as they can in order to establish a new baseline in life. They don't realize that progress is slow and cumulative (or maybe they do, but they are impassioned and perhaps even desperate) so they strive to bring order to their chaotic lifestyle.
>>
>>40586885

So...what did you eat today, everyone?
I got Taco Bell but 2 tacos and 2 tostadas and a diet drink comes in at under 1000 so not completely disastrous. I've been very good about cutting out sugary stuff of any kind so I'm still losing despite occasional binges like this.
>>
>>40585663
Another meal prepper here, I do meat in the fridge no more than 4 days, fish 2. If I make more meat, I freeze it.
You see prepared stuff in the store sit longer than 4 days but it's full of preservatives too. I'd rather not risk it. 5 day old chicken isn't that tasty either.

That's a fairly good example of fatlogic from a fatty as beginner dieter.
Dude if you don't like scales, just don't use one. No need to sperg out like a hostile shitlord if someone else wants to use one. They are helpful tools for some people, can you get it? I don't prefer kettlebells. But others use them to good effect. Same kind of thing.

I use a scale. Why? Because fuck you.
/topic
>>
>>40587323
As a beginner you don't even need to use a scale to lose weight.
You could literally just eat better and workout and the first 20lbs should fly off.
>>
>>40587328
And if this were true for more people we'd see it happening more often. Look, no one "needs" a food scale or many of other specialty items but I'm not going to ever discourage someone from using a tool that has proved helpful to many people.

Do you fuss this much about certain fitness equipment, workout clothes, a non-stick grill pan or other things people find useful? That's literally how silly this arguing against a scale is.
>>
>>40587237
MFP frequently underestimates, especially with portion sizes. Which is devastating when you find out.

Hey guys, second day posting. Still keeping on it. Feeling a little weird about a meal I ate today. Loaded up with fat and hardly any greens. I need to keep tweaking this thing. I only ate half of it but I feel like it's not exactly healthy just because it's keto. If I'd eaten the whole place (glad I didn't) it would have come out to 700 calories. More than half I'm taking in a day.

My stats:
>gender:
female
>height

>starting weight
171 lbs
>current weight
165 lbs
>goal weight
115 lbs

How's everyone else doing today?

This. I do not trust mfp for some things so I cross-check calories much of the time.

I'm not sure if any other app or site is more accurate or if I should just enter my own frequent food basics so I know they are correct. Suggestions, anyone?

I don't use their exercise tracker because of the dumb 'you've earned more calories' thing.

Either can work if they can maintain it. 1500 is hard if the deficit is that big at first though. Also most people overestimate their exercise in these, especially at the beginning when fatties can't really do what normally counts as moderate or harder exercise until they get some stamina built up. Light to Moderate is equal to 3x/week of at least 30 minutes sustained exercise in your target heart rate range.
>>
>>40587620
Aw, thanks! It came out pretty but, I assure you, it's very high in fat. I did not shy away from calories being so focused on carbs and what I was allowed to eat. Still seems like my little fatty ways, you know?
I'm actually doing 1200 a day. I suppose I'm jealous, but not really. Maybe when I feel like being a fatty, but I appreciate having to do more, having to cut lower, having to be a lady about what I eat. I haven't been much of a lady, getting all fat like this. I've been drinking beers after work, going hard on food, not really working out. I've been bad, and I don't want to be anymore. It's cool that you guys can eat more, but I'm not coming from that place, and never have and never will. It's not for me to eat like that.

I'll have you guys check your privilege on that peeing standing up thing any day, though! So lucky. Hiking is when I care about it. We have to get down low every time! Sure, there are devises, but come on, check it. That's a pretty neat feature! lol

anyone else /bingeeatingdisorder/ here? any tips to ward off the binges? has anyone beaten it? is it really just a matter of not binging for long enough or do you still do it in a controlled manner?
>>
>>40588528
I've been bulimic, and it is kinda the same thing where I would binge because I craved it. I eventually stopped throwing up and that's how I gained weight.

I don't know how to stop the desires. I have them right now. I only know that it takes will to prevent them. Smaller meals, controlling everything strictly. The opposite of the loss of control that is a binge.

I wish you luck anon. I wish I could help.

>the issue i have with lifting is the risk of injury is just too high

Thinking that weight training is particularly dangerous is commonly held belief but it's mistaken. Weight training is among the safest activities you can take part in. Cultural attitudes probably cause this bias toward popular sports.

http://static1.1.sqspcdn.com/static/f/1109123/24483296/1394376978483/Relative+Safety+of+Weightlifting+and+Weight+Training.pdf

http://product-injuries.healthgrove.com/l/173/Weight-Lifting

>It is so important to do everything with correct form

I think this applies to any other sports too. Even jogging has technique than you can fuck up and cause unnecessary injury to yourself. The internet is full of basic instructions on how to do weight lifting movements. You don't need to be perfect to be safe. Safe technique is easy. Perfecting your technique is so you can maximize performance for competition or just because you have an autistic desire for optimizing.

1) the injures are self-reported

5) a lot of weightlifitng injuries are gained early but only manifest itself later

2. I've lost 90 ish pounds in a year without counting calories. I'm having a harder time now that I'm under 200 lb's. is it possible to continue to lose weight without counting calories? (i've been making rough estimates entire way, don't have much time to actually weigh food out)

Lift often enough to make sure your lifts aren't decreasing. If you're losing weight then, it's pretty sure to be fat. That's what I do, eat little, lift often enough to maintain strength, and that's good enough.
>>
>>40581975
5 times in week, program stronglift combined with cardio. I cut already a 12 pounds in 1,5 month but this is still beginning.

/fat/bros please help me.

I've been eating right and liftan.

I'm lifting more every week. I'm losing weight according to the scale.

But I'm still just an ugly, unlovable fat piece of shit.

I don't think I'm gonna make it. Help me please.

Please.

>ugly
>unloveable

Gotta gets it through your head that if someone is shallow enough to judge you on looks alone they're not worth your time.

If I'm friends with the most handsome motherfucker out there and he pretends to like me do you think it's worth it? No. If I'm friends with some fat ugly dude that always had my back and talks with me like his equal who I can relate to and be bros with, you bet your ass it'll stick.

Now then again with girls, that's literally all they are... especially with dating sites which are a waste of fucking time, so good luck with them.
>>
>>40590931
It's not even about girls. I have friends and I think I'm a good person, I'm super nice but I just feel like I'm alone.

Like I said I'm liftan and I've made progress but don't feel like I've made "progress" if that makes sense. I just don't know what to do anymore.

How old are you?

Just how fat are you?

Do you and your friends actually talk often? you call them your friends but if you're truly close to them how come you feel "alone"?

By progress if you mean that on a personal level then all I can tell you is this; Try doing things you don't normally do, and let them become a part of who you are in order to make a change. If you're not willing to go through with the physical you can't hope to change your mental state.

>we all hang out and have fun together but there's nobody I can say I'm close with or confide to.

Looks like none of them fall into the category of "best friend", and I'm kind of sorry about that.

I'm actually very good friends with one particular fella and we always reach out to one another when the shit hits the fan. There are some truly good people out there but in my case, I got lucky to find someone that real.

You're less fat than me already, and to be honest at that age I'm sure there's door still open for you. I'm not an advice connoisseur but in my opinion, if you're feeling like shit, I can tell you that I could relate. Sometimes in the past, I've had those moments where I feel terrible because nothing works out.

My brother who has autism kept eating all the food in the fridge and since we've never had a father in our lives to teach us how to behave, we've never really had that sense of support or guidance, and our mother who spoils him rotten always gives in to his ridiculous demands no matter how many times I implore her to fix her shit "raising" him, she never once truly ever did her job right with us, because of that I had to mostly raise myself which lead to me making some very poor decisions growing up and causing me to learn everything the hard way. Even now my brother is obese and my mother keeps us poor with the amount of food she buys to sate his disgusting lifestyle. I'm thinking of moving out at some point because it's just too much to bear sometimes but we've all got our problems, and it's our mission to learn to deal with them our own way.

Just know you'll be alright as long as you keep moving forward and that there are other people out there who have it worse than you. You can deal with it knowing that there's still hope.

eating too little results in binging, you gotta find the magic number if you want to do a +50% deficit, when i started at 330 lbs mine was 1200-1300 and i was eating on a 6 hour window (look up intermittent fasting) so try maybe 1600-1700 just so you don't feel like killing yourself everyday

Anyone else suffer from "severely obese family members"?

My brother is probably around 450 lbs, and his life is horrible, he doesn't have any friends, cant speak properly, and even tried to kill himself last year, my parents try so hard to take "care" of him, yet still buy shit food everyday for him to feast on. OH and he's a 25 y/old neet

The hardest part (which i'm sure all of you ex-fatties know) is that you can't really help someone to lose weight, they have to really want it and be commited to do it long term, and he's the opposite of that, i feel like he has just given up.

shit sucks man
>>
>>40591131
>have brother with autism and obesity
>have mother who feeds his lifestyle
>have family that ridicules us all the time
>want to lose weight
>mother refuses to buy healthier foods because it will upset my brother
>barely make enough to buy my own monthly diet
>either I buy food for the entire month and see it gone like a flash or spend it on other things
>want to move out
>no luck with full-time positions
>mother threatens to disown me if I move out
>ask help from friends
>they're all in uni studying for their careers
>either I get 2 part time jobs and have no life or I kill myself

So far I'm really starting to appreciate being born into this world with no father, a brother with a severe mental disability and a mother who refuses to teach us, guide us or even truly love us enough to make important changes like at the very fucking least eating healthier.

She'll waste over a thousand on food every month because he won't stop eating and she'll smile about it.

I hate my fucking life. But I'm betting on the future where I move out with a friend and get my shit together without having to worry about being held down any longer.

things i learned from meal prepping today is that my kitchen is too small to cook for a week reasonably. Probably can only prep for 3-4 days at once. Maybe it would be more doable if i buy a small table in the size of an ironing board for me to store plates and stuff.

So i used to work as a prep cook and they gave me the tiniest table to work on. it was the size of your average desk with one side having a GIANT ASS meat slicer on it (Absolute bitch to clean and no one ever cleaned it if they used it so since it was on my station i had to clean it constantly. sucked.) anyway i just learned to balance the space. Sometimes an extra table (a small cart in my case) was needed but mostly I just learned to balance items on top of one another and how to balance my work into stuff that could share space easily (such as no cross contamination problems, so meat cutting I always did all at once and right after I did the cooking of raw meat since the whole counter needed to be cleaned anyway so I could cut vegetables next). Learning to prioritize like this will help. Im about to do mealprep tomorrow (Just went out and bought tons of pyrex so theres no going back) and I've just balanced it out on paper, doing things by whether or not theyre raw, cooked on the stove or in the oven, cook time and temperatures etc (Last is important for any oven cooking).

You can also split the work up between two days instead. Two days of cooking is still less than cookng every day.
>>
>>40591211
the space i have available is smaller than an average desk, its enough to fit my cutting board and 2 tables.

Former /fat/ person here, i just saw this and wanted to tell you all: You're not going to make it.

You're all too autistic about exact calories and time spent working out. I used to be 200lbs+ and i'm not a big guy, i just lost it by cutting out sugar entirely and eating right. And i do mean eating right, if you exercise for 2hrs a day it's not going to mean anything if your calories for the day consist of a couple fucking pancakes or oreos or whatever, my sister does that, and she had to go to the hospital once because her bone structure was so weak, she had extreme vitamin and mineral deficiency. What you guys do is pathetic. Just exercise a ton and eat better, the method of not eating at all is for weak minded girls.

>1) the injures are self-reported
>2) the time spent is self-reported

The other link i provided had data based on hospital records which showed the same kind of trend with weight lifting at the bottom of causes for hospital visits. I think the trend is real and not a mistake of data collection. Also, the difference between weight training and other activities was very large. Do you think the data would be massively different if it weren't self-reported?

>3) they only asked teenagers
I think adults would show similar data. The study shows a humoungous difference in injury rate for weight training in comparison to other sports. The difference would change some with data on adults. But I think it's very unlikely that adults would have a complete different distribution of injuries because how exactly does the activity change when done by adults? Soccer and other ball games are played the same way. Do you think adults perform entirely different movements in the gym compared to teenagers? I think both like the bench press and half-squat if they squat at all.

>4) a lot of weightlifting injuries are permanent compared to breaking a bone or bruising

Why would sports injuries be any less permanent? Sprains and tears are the most common injury in everything, not just weight training and they can cause permanent change in mobility just as well wherever they happen. I don't think sports injuries are any less likely to be permanent. Casual soccer players tear their ACLs too though likely not as much as competitive athletes. Broken bones are pretty serious in my opinion.

>5) a lot of weightlifitng injuries are gained early but only manifest itself later

Is this a particularly bad kind of injury? An injury that is immediately painful and debilitating seems more serious to me than one that you notice later.

I am pic related. 5'10" at roughly 215-220 pounds (I don't have a scale, this is what I was last year).

My grandfather died at the end of 2015 due to medicine that was for his weight caused health issues. I am the spitting image of him, and don't want to follow his path.

I reduced my diet to 1800 calories a day, with little to no processed foods. I plan to join a gym but I don't know what I should do. I want to go down to 170 lbs or so, and don't care much for muscles but if they are required I'll do it.

Any advice? Will I make it?

>>
>>40592608
Only you and your determination decides if you make it. You look like you're heavier than 220 pounds though, maybe 230-40.

Scrap processed foods entirely, don't drink anything apart from water/coffee/tea, and *actually* stick to 1800 calories, realise you're going to have to reduce that to 1500 after a few months, and actually go exercise. Cardio every second day, lifting on the other. If you actually stick to this, you'll make it. If you post here occasionally to feel good about yourself while giving in to pizza cravings, you won't.

http://www.losertown.org/eats/cal.php
Make this for yourself, ensure you actually reach your targets, read the sticky. Do exercise whenever you can, even if it's just going for a walk. And post here with your stats once a week to give yourself motivation to improve and not look like another retard who comes by, diets for a week, and then fucks off back to obesityville.

>I plan to join a gym but I don't know what I should do.

Pick some beginner program. Read stuff and watch videos on safe technique in the movements you will do. On your first day, check out where you will be doing your movements in the gym and just practice doing each movement enough to find out what your starting weight will be in them. Next time you start doing your program.

>don't care much for muscles but if they are required I'll do it.

They are required if you have a desire to have a body that pleases your own aesthetic sense. If you really just care about losing weight for health and don't mind being skinny-fat at the end then it doesn't matter much. Losing muscle isn't healthy but you're not an old man who has trouble going up stairs so losing some muscle won't have much impact on your well-being right now. Being fit does feel good though. The feeling you get from being strong is different than what you get from increasing endurance. I think most people on /fit/ feel being strong is more fun than being able to run for a long time. You feel what you feel.

Doing strength training as you lose weight will probably even build you some more muscle as you're a beginner. But it's not too late to build muscle back after you've lost the weight either. Losing the muscle and building it back will just take more time. Do what makes the most sense to you.

No, you search the internet or /fit/ for one. Don't ask PTs for programs as they'll give you something useless which would feel about right to clueless people who first arrive at the gym and then start thinking about what they're actually supposed to do there and don't want to do anything too hard. Especially at a place like planet fitness where the vast majority of customers are there to feel good about being there without making any progress.

Don't forget to track your progress from the start. Weigh, measure yourself, take photos (even if you never show them, you'll look at them and see how far you've come) and yes, your BMI.

I think there is a calculator to estimate body fat percentage online as well.

Get used to doing what you want to do without caring about how it might look. You get embarrassed because you imagine how you look. Nobody is going to comment anything as they give you a passing glance in between their own workouts. It's just you being embarrassed by your own thoughts. Not that it's easy to stop having unwanted thoughts but you can begin by trying to not give them attention.

eat less to lose weight, drop your daily calorie intake a bit more.
>>
>>40594691
Initial weight loss when lowering food intake is mostly from the reduction in the amount of fecal matter you carry around. And water possibly if your sodium intake went down as well. Both combined could be 15lbs for a person your size.

So, do what >>40595073 said. Your weight maintaining is an indicator that your calorie intake equals your expenditure. If you can be bothered to keep track of more things in addition to calories, try to keep your fiber and sodium intake at a constant so their effect on your weight stays constant (if they vary your weight varies too).
