What is fatty general? A thread for fat members of /fit/ who want to start eating healthy and lose weight.

Here we ask others for advice and give moral support to one another. We all know how hard it first is and we all have to get though it to better ourselves.
At the end of the day this is a support general whose goal is to help and motivate the chubby channers who need it.

What're you doing tonight to keep yourself from binging?

It's terrible. Born fat, fattest kid in school and stayed that way until my early 20s. I ended up losing 60-70 pounds and put back at least 10-20 pounds in the past few months. I used to eat two meals a day and feel fine, now I eat three and snacks. I don't even want to eat, but I'm hungry all the time. If I don't eat I'm too nauseous to even sit up. It's been getting better, but the worst part is I was starting to get comfortable and felt hopeless, since I couldn't fit in my normal pants anymore. I thought I might as well just try accepting it.

That is until I went out for the first time in months, knocked something over in the grocery store and stood up to see two employees snickering at me and hiding their faces when they saw I noticed them. Ended up dumping my desserts for healthier choices. Been doing well since then, have been exercising daily and haven't been craving sweets.

Today's been pretty bad though

>wake up from hunger
>feel nauseous from it
>have a banana with an egg and piece of bread
>still hungry so I ate an apple
>still hungry so I ate two sweet potatoes

I hate this shit. I've already ruined my day.

I am losing weight slowly, but need to pass a weight check sometime soon and i am not losing weight fast enough.

Do you know any cheating techniques for check ups? I only know of dehydration which does seem to remove some kgs if you dont drink for 24 hours(only tiny slips allowed, and only 2-3 at most) and sweat a lot.

This was me threes years after I was out of the military, I was lean and fast in the marines. I settled into a job and a wife and video games with almost no physical activity whatsoever. In late 2014 I divorced my wife after she, another fatty had cheated on me.
I decided that I wasn't happy with who I was and what I was doing.
Here I was about 300lbs 6' tall and sedentary.
Now I am bearmode.

I cut down around early 2014 and dropped weight hard and fast until I was about 200lbs. I didn't have abs like I did in the marines, but I felt better and healthier. I hadn't really been taking the weights seriously back then and it was mostly all just cardio. I reduced the cardio to no more than 20mins a week and adjusted my diet for an intense routine for building muscle. Now im much leaner and indescribabley stronger but I'm not there yet.
Now I'm 250lbs it's almost time for another hard cut so I can lean down more and my cuts will be more visible.
I'm also going to be a daddy soon with a very pregnant fiancé.
I'm in the top 2 or 3 strongest in my gym too. Very happy with the direction I am headed.

>>
>>40491124
What kind of weight check in? Why do you need to cheat it if you are doing ok losing slowly?
>>
>>40490940
Male/19
182cm
Starting weight: 98kg
Current weight: 88kg (-10kg)
Goal weight: 75kg

I took lifting pretty seriously when I was 15 ~ 17, but I stopped going to the gym at some point (started feeling like absolute shit, which affected my lifts and thus fucked over my motivation to go lift). I was pretty lean at my peak (10%BF at 75kg), and that was a few years ago. I have grown since, so I imagine I should be looking pretty good at 75kg.

I'm losing like 1.5~kg a week on average. Maybe it's too much, but I'm not doing anything suicidal. Just eating 6~7 meals a day, cardio 5 days a week for 30 minutes. I also walk a lot though (commuting to & from school, etc), so I end up racking in another 60 minutes of low-intensity cardio, while the other 30 mins I do are mainly HIIT (sprinting uphill - this is PERFECT).

I have junk food at least once a week, since I mostly have my meals wherever my mates have theirs, so I end up eating shit like McChicken burgers and pizza every so often.
>>
>>40492372
Well i ate around 1500 calories during midday, mostly rounded up, so i think that cant exceed 100 calories

And i need to technically eat around 2000 for -500 deficit so it is -900 today

But i mean, i googled salt calories and it said there are 0 calories in 100gr of salt, didnt know that.

>>40492375
Not really, doing only a number of exercises without weights, i just need to lose a ton of fat.
>>
>>40492378
Give fatties direction, it's not our problem if they chose the easy fatty path afterward. They're here and that's their first step.
>>
>>40492425
Salt will make you retain water, don't forget that.
And I would definitely advise resistance training. Body building especially.
>>
Salt is required for muscles, just don't eat a pack of chips for your salt intake.
>>
>>40492412
>we should be helping one another and inspiring them

That's what FPH threads are for. You want to start not being a fat piece of shit, great, but don't expect to be congratulated because *there was an attempt*
>>

Normal weight check in, company doctor gets anal about weight because he once let a 600pound monster to go for work and fell from the pilot ladder causing an incident.

Plus we dont have the best relationship. I dont know when i ll need to go to him but i need to have some tricks prepared.
>>
>>40490908
Please remember to read the sticky first, very good beginner info there. You can always ask questions in here after reading it but if your wuestion is answered in the sticky, people will just direct you there.

I don't binge, I'm a nibbler so my bigggest weakness is solved by limiting my eating to 3 meals and one snack at designated times. I don't eat after 8pm. I track calories and eat 1200/day. I'm losing well but not too fast. Will post my stats when I've made a bit more progress, I agree with >>40492378
That these threads should not coddle beginners.
>>
>>40492449
>Salt will make you retain water, don't forget that.
Why is that important again?
>>
>>40492509
If he has you on a weight loss plan, why aren't you meeting the weigh-in goals? Other than the dehydration thing you mentioned, there's not really any way to trick or cheat a lower weight on a weigh-in.
>>
So i ve been doing these exercises for 5 days now that someone suggested, was really sore when i woke up after the first 2-3 days, now i dont feel it much. That person also said that i should check if my muscles are sore after exercise, right now they are not, does that mean i should try harder or longer?

I do these exercises in this order, i ve added the number of reps i can do in 2 sets, sometimes if i overdo it i cant do the 2nd set fully so i try to stop around when it gets too hard but not impossible.

Is it good that i have put exercises alternate between leg and arms? Usually helps with not taking a big break inbetween certain exercises

Usually take a 30-60sec break between each exercises/set unless it is arm/leg alternation which i usually change to that fast.

About the diet, is it ok if i eat a big meal(1000-1500 calories) around miday and then mostly eat cucumbers/small salad or the occasional small fruit like kiwi? I cant really get into the small meals diet, it is so unsatisfying and i end up getting hungry more often.
Dont usually eat anything around morning when i do the exercises, only eat that big meal around midday so around 2-3 hours after the exercise
>>

Progress in exercise is good, I'm glad it's working for you. Add another set to each exercise. When soreness goes, it's time to add exercise.

Have you lost any weight?
For diet, you'll have to play it by ear if you can't get the nutrition info for the foods you eat. Intermittent fasting (IF) diets advocate one meal per day but common wisdom on all diets is that you must take in fewer calories than you expend, exercise alone will not bring much weight loss but it's absolutely needed for fitness. You can experiment cutting your portions of food until you lose weight steadily at 1-2 pounds per week.
>>
>>40492343

Ah got it.

I havent checked weight yet, i intend to check it coming sunday, for some reason wasnted a week to pass so i can see more visible results.

And yeah, i am definitely on a calorie deficit, you said that the required calories were 2628, so 2128 for a -500 deficit but i am usually eating around 1600-1800 a day and dont really feel very hungry after i eat the big 1000-1500 meal midday, i try to roundup the calories of everything i am unsure to higher numbers just to be safe.

I also found i have 2 small 2kg of pic related so could be useful for future exercises if needed, will move to 3 sets from tomorrow, take that break on Sunday and repeat again next week all days minus Sunday.

Yay, a kettle bell. Research some beginner kettle bell exercises you can start, let that be your homework. Form and posture is very important with kettle bell.

Keep eating the cucumbers and salads, even if small portions, they are very good for you. 1600-1800 is fine, not too low, but your weight will tell you if you are on track. Losing less than 1 pound per week usually means you are eating too much.

Started at 20 stone two months ago, down to 19.5 today. And that's just by eating less, as I've been too much of a lazy piece shit to actually exercise regularly.

Goal would be around 17 stone, but desu Idgaf about the number. A flat stomach with no hate handles is what I want.

Its been surprisingly easy, eating less, and getting easier every day. At first the constant feeling of slight hunger was annoying, kept me from sleeping, but now its almost enjoyable. I think I'm used to smaller portions by now, I went out to a Polish restaurant today and had to leave half the food behind, just got too full.

I'm gonna make it brehs. Now just gotta sort out the exercise bit.

I lost 40 pounds once. I did exactly what I'm doing now to lose another 40 pounds. Watch what I eat, exercise, eat healthier.

To all you fatties, I sincerely wish you well for this hill you are trying to climb and you have made progress just by being here.

You can research about health and weight loss all day but like anything else this is just a skill you require practice in. You won't truly learn until you try it for yourself and learn from your mistakes. Failure is an inevitably when faced with our neurotic predictions of the way things will be, but the only true failure here is not trying.

Getting fit is harder than staying fit. If you are the product of sitting on your ass all day, then chances are you have little muscle. Muscle is what burns calories. The more you have the more you burn. Your beginning (if you do it right) will be very difficult and its important to realize it won't be like this forever. It will get easier alongside your physical and mental progress.

Your "mantra", if you like, is diet, exercise and rest.
For your diet, I recommend cronometer.com. This lets you track pretty much everything, I can't tell you enough how much easier this makes things for me.
For exercise, cardio is your foundation. I know that sucks to hear. A good run 5/7 days a week is enough for weight-loss. I am not going to comment about any training specifically as I don't know enough.
Rest is easy: get 8+ hrs of sleep every night.

There is so much more to health and fitness, and you will be able to discover this for yourself and hopefully navigate your body to WHERE-EVER you want it.

Too many characters, I'll continue below. .

Did you get your protein today?
>>
. . .

>>40491073
If you are eating enough calories to put on weight and still feeling hungry, this can only mean one thing. You are not meeting your nutrient intake requirements.

My picture in the post above this is a representation of what proportions you should be roughly adhering to. There are varied opinions on what these proportions should be, and your body's needs will probably differ from this, but the fundamentals are here, and this will work.

Additionally, you should limit your salt, sugar and trans-fats, and choose wholefoods for at least 90% of your calorie intake.

>>40491124
You should not care this much about any "weight check". Do you not want to let your trainer down or something similar? You should be accountable only to yourself. Don't starve/dehydrate yourself, take it slow and steady.

>>40491332
Possibly just that the less your body requires a food the less you can taste it. Though I can't say.

>>40491732
Well done, that's inspiring. You should increase your cardio.

>>40492117
Eating under 1500 daily calories is unhealthy for generally anyone above 5'3. You will lose muscle, and have poorer workouts because of this. Calculate your TDEE (easily googled), and eat at a maximum daily deficit of 500 calories.

>>40492354
Salt should be kept to a minimum regardless. If you keep your salt intake low for 1-2 months your taste buds will adjust and your food won't require it.

Also you need 1 gram of protein for lb of bodyweight, not lean. Don't know or where people got that.

>>
>>40496813
If you're mostly fat with no noticeable muscle at the moment and you're not lifting don't even bother if your goal is to lose weight instead of building muscle.

If you're fat and you don't care about the bulk of muscle but want to get lean also don't bother.

I'm a builtfat, I have some muscle definition but it's ruined by fat so I gotta keep up the protein and lose the fat. ie cutting

"you need 1 gram of protein for lb of bodyweight". This is absolute bro-science trash. Do not do this, this is unhealthy and the excess protein will be converted to more fat. Everyone has a different opinion on this, and your body will require a unique amount. Eat at around 10% of your macros as protein, and go from there seeing what feels best for you.
>>
Why are none of the fatties posting pics. We already know you're but fat, post pics!
>>
>>40496900
>protein will be converted to more fat

No it won't. It'll just be burned off as calories in the end unless you go over your BMR/TDEE, protein is still 4 calories a gram, eating 1000 calories of protein isn't just gonna turn into fat because you ate over how much your muscles need. It processes slower than carbohydrates but unless you eat like 3000 calories of protein you won't get fat off of eating pure protein or a high protein diet.

Ultimate goal weight is pic related

I have been going to the gym about two to three times a week. I do cardio for about twenty-five minutes and then weights for twenty minutes. I extend it little by little, I had an eating disorder back in high school so my knees are pretty fucked.

I got my wisdom teeth taken out almost a month ago and lost quite a bit of muscle and overall stamina from it- I haven't recovered all of it yet. But I am trying to! I want to get to a 27 inch waist by the middle of next month, so about an inch and a half to go.

Only minor fatty, but I wanna get in on the fun.

Male/21/6'
Start: 235lbs
Current: 220lbs
Goal: Probably 205 or so.

I really want to throw some muscle on before this summer, but at this rate I'll likely just end up shedding as much fat as I can and getting as used to a really healthy lifestyle as possible. I'll miss cardio when I try my first real bulk, I think. It's what really makes me feel like I'm making progress because of how immediately I can beat my previous record. Exercise is really pulling me out of this depression I've been in since high school. Feels good, bros. I'm gonna make it. We're all gonna make it.

Bearmode bro from uptop. I wasn't only ever really "thin" with a good bit of Leann muscle while I was a marine at 180lbs. You should definitely try putting on muscle and losing weight at the same time. During ur noob gains is really the only time you can actually do that.

Oh the humanity...
6' / 34yo / Currently 278 pounds
Year 1: Lifted my ass off with linear progression, lost 12 pounds (to 261) and hit 1RM around:
OHP 165
BENCH 255
SQUAT 385
DEAD 455

Year 2: Had some depression, kept lifting but let myself go. Some lifts dropped, some went up, and my weight hit 291 at the highest.

Currently back down to 278 and really hoping I can get to 242 or lower and do a meet. Current PRs are:
OHP 205
BENCH 315
SQUAT 395
DEAD 405 (yes, the fucker went down with weight gain and an injury. fuck me)

Also, my power clean has never topped 1RM at 205 nor everyday-rep-weight of 185. FML, something is so wrong there since I can press more overhead without cheating.

Likely around 270 in the pic.

i think this is the reason why i was never able to lose weight when i was a kid and my parents tried all of those silly nutritionist diets, you know, those that have like 8 meals a day of 300cals each and shit like that, i still didn't know how calories really worked until i started browsing fit and doing my own research aka wikipedia. 2 years ago i'd think that eating 3lbs of chicken would make me gain more weight than eating a tub of ben & jerrys
>>
Male/31
6'1"
Start: 112kg
Current: 94kg
Goal: 80-85kg

A few years ago I had lost 30kg and was 80kg. I then gained it all back, and now im doing it again.

The main difference is when I was gaining all the weight back (not in a healthy way) I was also weight training.

My advice for anyone wanting to drop weight is to do it whilst lifting (youll still lose weight and gain strength, especially if you havent done any training before)

There was a time when I was like 85kg and I couldnt do a single press up. The first time I lost the weight I did it just with diet and running.

Lift, Cardio + Diet. Youll lose weight and youll look a lot better than if you just cardio+diet. Its pretty disappointing reaching your goal weight and still looking like shit.

Despite being 14kg heavier now I look significantly better imo.

God speed fatties, we're getting there one day at a time.
>>
>>40497848
hey dude, 6ft 1 here, i also started at 330 but that was back in march 2016, as of now i'm 270 and it has been my first plateau, mostly because i've been hanging out with a lot of new people at uni who like to eat takeaways, gotta get those social gains too i guess, i've literally been 270 for like 5 months and while i'm happy i didn't gain any weight back i'm angry at the fact that i could probably be around 250 or less right now.

Currently on day 19th of eating at a deficit, gonna weight myself on march to see how much i can lose before the 1 year mark

Remember plateaus are mostly just a mental barrier
>>
>>40498397

I don't think it will be a fast journey, I should add working out to my routine but I'm so god damn lazy.
I'm trying to put this old bike i had together to start riding around.

ha, I looked at myfitnesspal and realized I put my serving number wrong.
I ate 5 chalupa's today....but that added up to 725. (that's all i ate, which is still a lot) but when i first put it i mistook it by reading that each serving was 2 each. So that was to 1450 instead of the 725. So I guess I didn't eat past my limit. Supposedly I'm supposed to be at 1120.

I ate no meat today.

I don't think I'm gonna make it....
>>
>>40498408
Bodyweight stuff is way more appealing to me than lifting, even though I won't be making anywhere near the gains I would make when lifting.

Maybe I'll mix it up a little in the future but for now I am happy with 3x calisthenics a week and 3-5 times cardio
>>
>>40498611
Yeah I don't think eating less than 1200 hundred calories/day will be sustainable (or healthy).

You might want to try to do some cardio or something to create a larger deficit while eating 1200. I imagine eating less than that, you'll start feeling really shitty after a week or two.

So the solid rule for losing is to not eat unless you're hungry and only eat as much as you need to without getting close to the caloric amount to maintain weight, right?

I started a few days ago with hour long walks and want to start watching my caloric intake better and was hoping you guys gave me some advice on that.

Basically, want to know what you guys use to measure yourselves. I'll be buying a weight scale, some dumb-bells and maybe a calorie burning watch but don't know what's worth what's not.
>>
Would any of you fat faggots be interested in a little test?

I bulked a little hard, and gained a bit of weight.

I've been hitting all of my bodyparts for over a year except my quads (due to ability to fucking ruin hip flexors until I fix them), my forearms, and cardio, and not enough direct ab work.

What I plan to do is change none of my diet, and start hitting all those parts due to a wrist roller, leg press, and rowing machine and whatever for abs.

I'm going to test it and see if I can lose my bellyfat due to hitting largely ignored bodyparts without a change in my diet plus cardio.

I'll post comparison pics if or when I see a good change. You'll know when you see it. Even if I fail, fuck it I got stronger

My thinking is the increase in muscle mass at the same bulk is going to minimize the appearance of fat. Especially with the quads being a pretty large muscle group. That energy that just turned to fat is going to be more used to build the quads. Building muscle and maybe burning fat.

I tried finding ideas on Google about it, but fuck.

I know this all sounds like broscience, and it probably is, but it really changes nothing in my workout so why not? You finally buy a leg press and you might as well abuse it instead of weak 1plate split squats.

I shouldn't get fatter at any rate.

The problem with trying to match a pic is that unless you put some muscle under those rolls your belly to arms and legs is not going to work out like that. Your fat distribution _might_ make them appear larger but in reality fat just doesn't look like lean mass anyhow. To get those legs you're going to be lucky to get by with a 315 for 5 squat but don't worry... you can do it.

Because they are basically a snack food disguised as a meal, a lot of fat, carbs and calories for not much decent nutrition. Many people eat 1200-1500 calories per day so it's not that great for us. If these fit your macros and your diet plan nothing stopping you. No one food is 'the devil' but there's no denying that there are many more nutritious things to eat than pizzas. If I eat that many calories in a pizza it doesn't leave enough calories left in the day to eat the foods with vitamins and minerals that my body needs. If pizza was my jam, I'd probably treat myself to a slice now and then but not a whole one.

first I switched from purely carb foods, no more rice and potatoes for me, it's all meats and protein rich foods, even ifI go over my calorie allotment for the day I just go do some heavy weightlifting (one day in between)
second I drink bulletproof coffee in the morning instead of a bow of fatty-O's and this keeps me fll until about lunchtime (11 for me, wake up at 3 am)
third I stopped drinking sodas, from now on if I want something besides water I grab whole milk, believe it or not it's way more satisfying and has helped me stop eating so muchl

Is constipation common on a cut? I can usually work out a few small balls every other day, but I had the absolute worst cramps I've ever experienced last night followed by a combination of solid and liquid shit. I get around 36g of fiber and drink at least a gallon of water a day. Would Miralax or something similar help?

Goal weight: cut to 7% body fat and then clean bulk up to 180-190 at around 8-10% body fat

>can someone help give me advice?

currently eating 2400 calories a day while working construction, going to college and have been losing a steady 1.5-2lbs a week.

BUT I have absolutely no muscle definition I'm a fat disgusting fuck but my arms look like two long strings coming out of my shirt and have always looked that hideous!

should I up my protein and if so how much?

should I raise my deficit so I'm losing 2-2.5lbs a week (I have heard it is safe to lose up to 2.5lbs a week but I don't know if it would be a good idea)

would an ECA stack be worth it?

is planet fitness a complete joke?
I would like to start lifting instead of cardio but I can't work out at college because it is always filled with chinks wearing jeans and Indians who stink of pure shit

my macros are 25g Carbs/100g Protein/213g Fat

I work construction 6-10 hours a day depending on my class schedule, in the morning and before bed I do 60 mins of pushups and situps. after college classes I run for an hour
