I started lifting when I was 15. I'm 25. I just bought the gear for my first cycle because I was wondering how my friends, when given my diet and program, were making such faster progress.

Turns out I have the Test of a 45 y/o man.
Makes me wonder if that's what caused so much of my depression and lethargy over the years. How many tens of thousands of hours I've nearly wasted at the gym.

Agree with this 110%. This is why I became anti-fap and anti-women. Well, depends what you want from the test. Do you want to try and use the test to get a TRT script? If so, might be good to do so. I HATED getting tests during the time I was wrestling with the doc to get TRT because I would feel obligated to fap and drink before hand. When I didn't, the test would come up at like 300-330ng/dl, within the reference range of the lab, which indicated to the doctor that "everything is fine." But as soon as the number in front is 2, then a doctor's ears will perk up.

But if you just want to get information for yourself it is better to see what your levels are in the recovered state. It is more representative of what your baseline situation is. Also, tell your doctor that you have been reading about how elevated cortisol can cause depression and/or loss of executive function (i.e., lack of alphaness). If you can get cortisol tested I would like to see it.

I do not pretend to know anything about your hormones anymore. I will leave that to the labs. But I am focusing my reading a lot more on prolactin and cortisol. Cortisol especially.

KEK also if you want to go full beta before the test I think there are studies showing that eating black licorice for 4-7 days causes a very noticeable drop in test levels. Make sure the test includes E2, LH, FSH, etc. It will if your doc knows what to look for before prescribing TRT.

The problem with normal docs is that they are too pussy to prescribe anything meaningful to someone under 30 or 35. My doc is pretty cool but all his patients were over 40. So he was unwilling to give me anything other than HCG. So there's one issue where they are incompetent and another issue where they are too cautious. My doc's issue was the second one.

I eventually got pharma test after everything else was proven to not work (due to a degree of both primary and secondary hypogonadism) but he panicked when I went over 600 ng/dl and dropped me down to like 75mg/week. I didn't even bother getting tested at that level. Just cut ties and ordered UGL vials.

When you say cruise at 1000, you mean cruise at a test dosage that gets your blood levels to 1000ng/dl, right? If so, that's a great idea.

Cruising at 220mg now - great! Will get bloods in 4 weeks. One advantage I will say that I got from interacting with the doc was learning about histamine, catecholamines, and cortisol. I could have learned about these things in advance but when you have an expert telling you things in his own words because he has truly understood it, it's a different experience. Helps guide your research. That is why I ask these basic questions that sound stupid to some in the hopes that someone can prevent me from wasting time on extraneous details.

One thing I would be interested in recommending is that before you do TRT or UGL, if you have high cortisol, try the cortisol reduction stack I recommended earlier. Gave me great mental benefits before TRT, and has only gotten better since.

I can keep high volume and frequency fine on just 350 test prop. That's maintenance. I'm not hitting big numbers with that kinda frequency.

I hit 320x6 incline last week on just 350 test but I was fresh off a two day break and wasn't hitting volume or frequency that week.

Bulking meal:

1tsp olive oil

Brown beef. Cool noodles. Add noodles to beef. Fry in beef fat. Add stir fry veggies until crisp. Add eggs scrambled. Lower heat and let sit. Fold eggs into mixture. Top with cheese.

Great post workout meal. Cost ~$5 ~2500 kcal

Here is what I use.

I know I am not as reputable a source of knowlege as bimbo but I see no reason this would not work

For one month, eat a number of calories, any number.

Record your weight at the start.

Then record your weight at the end.

510 calories = 4 pound a month (source scooby calculator)

So if you gain 4 lbs, and you ate 4000 calories, your TDEE is 3410.

Etc. simple math, 1 lb = 127.5 calories

This has to be more accurate than an online guesstimator, since it is based on your percise activity level and metabolism

Don't get too swayed by the cortisol bashing I did earlier. It is significant, but it's always important to look forward. I am glad you are getting motivation to do something about it if you are noticing the symptoms. Taking ACTION is a faculty that you can be robbed of if you are too used to letting your willpower atrophy. Don't overthink this. Just try it and tell me how you feel in two weeks. What makes you think cortisol is the issue? Get bloodwork at some point.

My advice to reducing cortisol is to take these supplements first. See if it makes a change. Then you can do lifestyle tweaks. Actually, since I know nothing about you, let me give you a list of "do-nots" that helped me mitigate high cortisol sides: do not fap, do not watch porn, do not drink, do not use cannabis, do not stress about shit you can't change, do not stress about things you need to change (just change them).

Online you will read stuff about "oh if you're mind is not thinking the right way then you will have high cortisol" I think this is true but only to an extent. It is hard for me to say one is the cause and one is the effect. I was meditating for hours in just peace and peacefulness. In depth philosophy study on weekends. No stress. Abstaining from all the "do nots" I told you to. Stable. Money. Doing well at my job. But the symptoms persist.

No indulgences. MONK LIFE. Still the symptoms persist. Take some fucking cortisol lowering pills - boom! Symptoms gone. Now, was my problem mental or physical? You tell me. Now I just feel angry at my old self for over thinking this shit and looking for abstract mental/philosophical causes for these stupid physical things. Just have to change the physical through force and intervention - just like you can't think your way out of hunger.

Kinda tangential (but not really, since meditation is a fantastic lifestyle intervention for brain health), but I've had a problem with meditation that's destroyed my motivation for a year. I cannot physically get my body to be comfortable. In my best posture where my back doesn't bother me, I always have my leg falling asleep at the 30 minute mark. It's very consistent, and I'm afraid of damage if I just ignore it. Not sure where to go from there, lots of stretching helps very very minimally and it's extremely frustrating, because I really enjoy the restful state. Any points of advice?

Wrote a bunch about this practice as the whole reason to justify living a few threads ago if you're interested.

Advice? PERSIST. You know the benefits of meditation. Get serious about it - it will pay dividends as you age. Read the works of great masters. Get carried away by them while you read them (i.e., read them charitably), but look at them on your own terms when the pages are shut (i.e., don't let any author think for you). Don't be afraid to find faults in the models (philosophies) but don't forget that there may be faults in your eyes (mind) that are observing the models.

Please don't explain meditation to me I'm already frustrated.

I love the benefits, I've experienced them directly, but I can't find a damn posture that doesn't want to throw me out of the mindstate after a set amount of time.

It has become a massive barrier. Sitting in a chair and my back is unstable and distracting, there's no grounding. Sitting on a cushion/floor and my forward most leg falls asleep and screams at me for 5-10 minutes. Then goes full rubber, but that's the scary part. I'm not gonna kill my damn leg.

I can't find anything written on this, or anyone with the same experience. The most advice anyone gives is "well change your posture LOL". Like I haven't fucking tried.

Also the explanation serves to show how/why the posture can be less than optimal, or held for less than the optimal amount of time (i.e., the problem you are experiencing), and still provide LASTING benefits. Not trying to make light of your situation, just that your posts seem to be light on relevant details when posting so I'd like to know. I can't sit cross-legged without my butt being elevated. When I sit on a flat surface to meditate I put a rolled up towel below my "sit bones" and rest my feet below. So there's barely any weight on the ankles. If you're trying this, increase the height of the seat your butt's on gradually so you gradually reduce the amount of weight on your ankles until you reach the point where there's no tension on them. You'll get to a point where your entire weight is supported by your spine/butt and you won't lose circulation in your legs because the ankles are at a lower elevation and your legs aren't bearing any weight.

But if you can't sit on a chair with a back without being unstable then I can see this being a problem for you too.

If you want an easy way to visualize it, think of sitting on a yoga block. Like, it's so small that only your butt would be able to fit on it, and your legs/ankles can kinda just sit on the ground and just provide stability so you don't fall forward (but bear little if any weight).

I lay on my back or side. It's fine for playing on my phone, but it makes meditation cloudy. I can sit in a chair but like I said, it's much more unstable than sitting on the floor. Either I'm constantly in slight hyperextension to keep pressure off my glutes or I'm rounded and it causes cloudyness. Just not a favorable position.

With respect to the adjustable height cushion, that's my go-to when I don't use a chair. I've tried all the meme meditation cushions and stuff to prop your knees/ankles up and the rolled/folded towel method still is my favorite because it is so easy to do anywhere and can be adjusted based on how stiff you are on any given day.

Also I figure I ask since I can tell you are serious about the spiritual path. Are you eating well? I remember some of the intense practice I did led me to months on end of eating very sparingly (on the order of 1 meal/day), preferring to spend the day/time in meditation/study. It teaches you a lot about the body. Not necessarily healthy lessons, but you can experience mini-deaths along the way. In those deaths you find that happiness is born of mental silence. You can celebrate death, because you are that which lies beyond death (as well) and your enjoyment/bliss is beyond life and death - it is their very support.

Is there a lot of importance placed on the samAdhI-abhyAsa (practice of samAdhI or abiding in the nirvana experience) in your school? It is a beautiful thing. Takes time to train the mind to abide, but how worth it! But this too can not be the end (because/for it ends).

But what cannot be avoided is that in these practices your body operates by the same rules as everyone else's. Unless you intentionally pursue the siddhI-mArga (path of spiritual attainments/abilities) and attain some level of ability in its practice, your body has to deal with the same conditionings that the other ones do. I noticed that some of the dietary choices I made in terms of macros and micros and most of all quantity may have just put the body in a severely malnourished state. Lost a ton of fat and what little of muscle I had at the time. Anyways, in the end, all hardship and pain can be viewed as recompense for some past sin if needed. I cannot even say that I regretted it. But I did notice that it was the start or at least catalyst for some of the hypogonadism symptoms to become very pronounced.
