Why are SBD knee sleeves allowed? I got a 7,5 kg PR the first time I used them, and I couldn't even get them all the way up because they were too tight. Now I have stretched them a little bit and I think they give me somewhere between 10-15 kg. They're more like wraps light than knee sleeves, considering it's uncomfortable to walk around in them and they give a resistance when I try to bend my knee without a barbell on my back.

>why are SBD knee sleeves allowed?

Because the IPF decided they would allow it.
Not much other than that.
If the IPF decides they will allow bench shirts in raw, that's how it's gonna be. We can complain of course, but people don't care much about knee sleeves.

>>40181709

Interesting. Do you have much knee travel in your squat? I reckon I get a good bounce from the sleeves since my knees goes forward a lot and that makes the fabric stretch more in the bottom.

I don't actually know if there is any sort of non disclosure business regarding it, I remember details of the 2k16 being everywhere though.

Me, anon and that other guy all seem to be on board though, so that's at least three sources for /plg/. Probably all at the lower end of the wilks range though.

Seeing as they take in hundreds of applicants who they don't know anything about and put some kind of summary of the project afterwards on their website I don't think they care that much about the program being leaked.

Well, I've been sticking to upper body and mobility work the last couple of weeks because I tweaked my back. Next week I'm gonna work up to some easy 5s or 3s on squat and deadlift and just take that to build on.

Tested before Sheiko:
220/120/245

Currently in the middle of prep 2, so 1.5months on sheiko:
Estimated 245/At least 135/Unknown but it's going just as well as the others, and small changes in his technique have lowered the RPE of his sets drastically

Currently at 77-78kg bodyweight.
Training for +-1 year and 5 months, took half a year of break from a big knee injury, trained WL for about half a year as well (no benching).

That is before he actually started training for powerlifting again.
If you see his bench technique that got him 120 you'll laugh.

His current total is nearing the chinese dude's, and he hasn't been training PL for 2 years or training in general for 2 years yet.

At day 90, participants in both groups had experienced improvements compared with baseline in the intensity of pain while lying in bed (mean intensity improvement 70% firm and 80% medium-firm mattresses), intensity of pain on rising (each 57%), and disability (30% and 50%).

Although there were differences in favour of medium-firm mattresses in all variables at day 90, only those in the degree of improvement of disability and pain on rising throughout follow-up were significant (p=0·008, table 2). Differences in the degree of improvement of pain on rising (p=0·053), having had low-back pain throughout follow-up (p=0·059), and pain while lying in bed throughout follow-up (p=0·064) were close to significance (table 2).

The firmness of the new mattress was generally perceived accurately by participants; 77·2% of patients in the firm mattress group perceived their mattress to be firm or very firm, compared with 43·5% in the medium-firm mattress group who though their mattress was firm (p<0·0001, table 2). When they entered the study, 63 of the 111 individuals who shared beds with participants in the firm mattress group and 71 of the 111 who shared beds with those from the medium-firm mattress group had pain inbed (p=0·27). At the end of the study, 19 from the firm mattress group and 14 from the medium-firm mattress
group had pain (p=0·35).

In most patients, the change of mattress (from soft to medium-firm and firm) was associated with an improvement of pain while lying in bed

We'll see in a few weeks, I'm not gonna unnecessarily disrupt his training to test his lifts because of ego.
But I'm pretty sure my estimates are conservative, from my own experience dealing with people who did the very same program.

Let us just be patient. ;) We can put a nail on the "natty or not" discussion for the chinese dude when Kermit shows the results.

Buy his book its good

It is important because we aren't sedimentary people and any aid you get from a hard mattress will just be negated by the fact you'll get up and have 500lbs directly above your spine in a few hours

Chronic is a buzz word, I've had lower back pain for 10 months, which is chronic lower back pain and it was just because I didn't know how to fix it

Literally did MCGILLs big 3 for 1.5 months and 10 months of being unable to put my shoes on without tear jerking pain was gone over night

There are solutions and they require a lot more work than changing your bed lmao

Anyway its still a band aid over a bullet hole solution

I could alleviate my pain with all sorts of stretching and rehab stuff, but it always came back, it was always temporary.

Its been 4 months since doing the MCGILL stuff and ive been pain free since.

Your point is moot. Yes, treatment helps. Yes, changing bed mattresses help.
You want to imply one of them doesn't help because you can't accept that I know what I'm talking about. ;)
And you're dismissing actual studies (including doubleblind studies) that show it does help by criticizing it in a non-valid and non-scientific manner.

All because you're mad about a girl with a dick that is helping people on a forum for autistic powerlifters.

>Nice shifting goal posts

Back pain IN GENERAL include lower back pain.

YOU are the one claiming the discussion was lower back pain EXCLUSIVELY, and it was NOT.

You're the one shifting goal posts here.
My arguments from the start were NOT exclusively about lower back pain.

And regardless, neither yours nor the other Anon's anecdotal evidence serves any purpose in this argument.

So not only you're trying to imply this is exclusively about lower back pain (which doesn't change anything, the studies I linked were about lower back pain), you're trying to shift the argument to this meaningless thing, because you have already lost the actual argument - whether changing mattress softness can improve back pain.

Instead of trying to shift the goal posts, just apologise and move on my dude.

It's not people that just started training but it's not like it's very taxing or hard. I reckon most people on /fit/ does SS or similiar beginner programs so sheiko beginner(or maybe one of the intermediate 3 day programs) would be a good next step for them. Of course they might want to do shorter cycles than 12 weeks so they can cut away some weeks from the intermediate programs.

Bar over the centre of your feet. That might not be directly touching your shins.

Though... You can also do it with it touching the shins, that just means the centre of gravity will shift to your heels at the start and you'll pull with a technique that's not very similar to a regular DL.

bar closer to heels would mean slightly lower hip extension demands, right?

Hmmm... no, I don't think so. If you're only moving the bar into position, it only changes the position of the shoulder joint and your centre of gravity.

The best option is keeping the bar over the middle of your feet, in my opinion. Kinda like how he pulls here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5zqEGSFI5A

>believe that oestrogen makes people feminine and that testosterone gives people adult characteristics

You're simply calling male sexual characteristics "adult characteristics". This isn't a "belief" issue, it's how it goes. Oestrogen and others will enhance female sexual characteristics, while testosterone will enhance male sexual characteristics.

The problem is that testosterone enhances male sexual characteristics. If someone is transgender, as in has actual gender dysphoria, that is just gonna make them feel worse about themselves.

In my opinion. I'm not a specialist, and I don't participate in any transgender community. I'm just saying this from my own experience, taking test instead of transitioning would only make me hate myself even more.
Maybe not everyone is like that, I don't know. But since I don't know, I wouldn't recommend it.

>>40184750

I'm not sure if I'm visualising what you're saying correctly, but the position where your muscles can pull the strongest is when the weight is over your centre of gravity. It is also the shortest range of motion (as the bar just has to move straight up).
Besides, if the weight goes behind your centre of gravity you can just fall over.

Correct me if I'm wrong though, I might just be having a brainfart.

You are assuming he has short ROM on his lifts when he actually squats ATG, pulls conventional, and doesn't bench max grip (as if the bench ROM would affect his "muscle composition" anyways).

range of motion perpendicular to gravity hardly matters, especially if it's an inch or less.

but with deadlifts, you have some wiggle room for where to have the center of gravity.
it can be over the balls of the feet, over midfoot, or over the heels, without falling over.
midfoot is "safer", because if it changes a bit in either direction, you don't fall over.
but if you have it over your heels, and it changes a bit backward, you fall back.

what i was thinking is if you have your knees over your heels at the start of an SLDL, and the bar as close to the knees/heels as possible, then the moment arm for hip extension is the smallest.

in the tom martin video, it looks like he doesn't have his knees as far back as possible.
just a tad infront of his heels.
so then there's no reason for him to keep the bar to his shins.

is my reasoning correct?

>>
>>40185061
maybe moment arm isn't the right word, but a longer moment arm would be better if you look at muscle insertions.
e.g. if a muscle inserts further from the joint, it can effectively exert more force.
it won't look as nice and full as a muscle that inserts close to the joint.

what i meant was the distance of the application of force to the joint.
e.g. skullcrusher top position (wrist over elbow, smallest elbow extension moment arm) vs forearm parallel to the floor (distance from wrist to elbow in the normal plane of gravity is the largest).

>>40185160
consider a wrench turning a bolt.
if you want to apply the most force on the bolt, you want a longer moment arm.
you'd grab the wrench at the end, not in the middle.
in this case a longer moment arm is "better".

but that's not what happens in the human body.
what happens is that there's an external force acting near the end of the wrench, and you have your hand near the bolt.
you can either move your hand farther from the bolt (better muscle insertions) or move the external force closer to your hand and the bolt (shorten the moment arm).
so in this case the moment arm of the external force sohuld be as small as possible.

does that make it more clear?

Hmmm. I thought you were talking about the actual moment arm of the muscles at the hip joint (they vary accordingly to the degree at the joint, pic related).

Yeah, I guess I haven't thought much about the SLDL before, but what you say makes sense.
I think I agree that having the bar closer to the hips should make it easier for the hip extensors. Maybe pulling SLDLs with the weight closer to the heels isn't a bad idea.
I don't know, I don't have much experience or even have put much thought into SLDLs cause I've always disliked them and favoured other variations.
But yeah it makes sense at first glace.

but having the bar closer to the hips doesn't really matter, otherwise hip extension demands would be way lower on sumo than conventional deadlifts.

i was thinking that you'd want to minimize the distance between the bar and end point of the femur (which would be the knees in a deadlift).

but then that would also mean that more forward knee travel in a squat doesn't decrease hip extension demands by virtue of having the hips closer under the bar.

Or you're simply calling adult characteristics "male characteristics"? "Testosterone is a male hormone" is an old meme of the same tier as "women are weak".

Equating "feminine" with "immature" is a longstanding defect of white skinned races. It's especially sad when transwomen help perpetuate this oppressive misconception when they should be at the forefront of gender revolution.

It's obviously a hormone for both sexes, just like oestrogen.

But just like oestrogen enhances female sexual characteristics (and sexual maturity during puberty), testosterone enhances male sexual characteristics (and sexual maturity).

so you have to look at the distance between the hip socket and the bar in the line of pull of the muscles that extend the hips.

in squats, the distance in the line of pull is shortened.

but now i have a new question.
does that mean that if you did complete full sumo and had an angle of 180 degrees between your legs, the line of pull would be parallel to the bar and thus would never cross the bar, making hip extension demands are infinitely high?

It's much lower*, but not infinitely.
Remember your hips are pulling your back, not the bar.

Yeah dude listen to the advice of the guy with 13.5 inch arms about how to get big arms.

16 inches here measured by a coach pulled tight. Curl until your biceps feel like they're about to tear off. Then after a couple sessions of that, actually try to tear them off

I just started squatting 2 weeks ago and my right sacroiliac joint hurts if I squat wide. Will this go away or do I need to squat narrower? btw I don't squat that wide.
