Your cut might finally be taking a toll.

Also, 5x8@70% is a really, really tough workload.

You thought about cycling away from BBB yet?

Shift to 5x5@70%, then maybe 5x3@80%?

Somethings gotta give, especially on a cut.

5x5@ 70% and then 5x3 @80% sounds good. So next cycle do 5x5@70%, and then for the cycle after do 5x3@80%?

I've been bulking for 2 years almost, my plan to cut goes as
>continue running what ever program I'm running by the time I cut

This sound like a good plan?

>>
>>38173076
>Looks like you're cutting depth. You'll need to open your hips more, work on ankle mobility, and/or get some heeled squat shoes.
OK thanks, I'll work on mobility. I'll have to wait a couple of months to visit my friend and try his squat shoes - don't want to spend £50 on new shoes if I can't squat without injury.
>>38173093
>I think your core might lose tightness at points.

>>
>>38173164
A cycle at each. At the end, 5x1@90%. As per the accessory progression recommended in "Beyond 5/3/1".

Especially on a cut, the higher volume is going to sap you big time.

>Glad we could admit they were different and conflicting
The anecdotal evidence supports the scientific research? Can you not read?
>The second scientific study also proves I was right, you'd know that if you could actually read
>On the contrary if you took a moment to read any actual argument I've made you would see that your article proves I was right
ofc it does, I never disagreed with you about it, ever.

>Argument from ignorance
it was not an argument, I was letting you know that I didn't read the article. I was stating a fact.

It's a really fun challenge. I'm fucking it up by only eating at maintenance, though.

That being said, my weight is stable, I have improved work capacity and hypertrophy, and I feel 100% injury free.

It is going to make a nice foundation for transitioning into a more "powerlifting" oriented training program.

I got the itch again. The only cure is more platform :)

Depends on TIME. With the school year starting, I'll be back on 55-70 hours per week (teaching and coaching).

Work plus child makes for limited training options.

I'm most likely going to run a 4-day RTS inspired self-constructed program to account for some days being garbage (especially lifting at 3-4 am).

If I was lifting in the afternoon, I'd go "Beyond 5/3/1" style with lots of modifications and Joker Sets... but I don't have afternoons :(

Logical fallacy

Thanks for the smart suggestion, but a set of 250kg in calibrated plates would cost 6 thousand dollars in my country.

I'd rather just find a good plate calculator app, considering I already have 300kg in plates.

Hello Sean
>>
>>38173745
You're probably not going to find one, unless you make it yourself. It's way easier to make a program that has the plate weights already set than to let the user put their custom weights in, especially since the math won't work out perfectly if you have fractional plates.
>>
>>38173745

Anyone knows a good plate calculator for android that allows you to put in custom weights?

My plates are not in pounds, they're non-calibrated iron plates that weight in fractions (stuff like 4.6kg, 1.8kg, 23.6kg, 9.1kg, etc.)

I am using a normal calculator but it becomes very annoying when I have to deal with weights that require lots of plates.

>>38173765

Cool but my question was if anyone knows a good plate calculator that allows custom weights, not if it would be hard to find one.

So in Lascek's TM he talks about rotating IDs with timed speed pull days. Is it worth it to do this if your pulling sumo and you naturally have that little 'pause' at the beginning of the lift where you build up strength to pull it? I've tried pulling sumo explosively, but it more or less ends up with me slightly rounding my back at the beginning of the pull and making it harder for me to lock out.

Weakling checking in with some more weak lifts.

Midbar Back Squat
[email protected]
185x5,5 @8 to 8.5-8
(Might have done 3 sets of 185, began writing down during lat pulldowns)

Started getting hip rise as the sets went on. Going to stick with proper highbar for a while.

Highbar
135x10 @8

Bench Press
185x5 @8
195x3 @8.5
135x9 @8.5

Very little set up. Just pressed my shoulders back against the bench. On the heavier sets my elbows wanted to tuck themselves closer to my sides, which I think means my chest is weak relative to my triceps. Going to stick to higher reps. Overall benching felt pretty good, feel like I left a lot in the tank but I believe that's what youre supposed to do with high frequency.

Lat Pulldowns
120x14
150x7,7

Overall felt pretty fatigued due to low sleep, but Im performing better than earlier in the week. RPE is kinda hard to judge still. Just going to put effort out and hope the high frequency will carry me until I get more used to it. Forgot to weigh myself again, so no bodyweight check.

That's all for now. Tune in tomorrow for JEFFERSON DEADLIFT testing (for anti-rotation training).

16 hour weigh in. The most I've cut for 220 class is from 222 to 219.

In reality, I could pause squat your max beltless for longer than you last in bed (if you weren't a virgin).

>now that he has to put heels on the ground, keep head on the bench
I bench head down, heels on ground, and narrow grip. Stay mad.

TM is overall a very mediocre program.

People like it because of the week to week PRs, so progress is extremely easy to measure. But only having ONE volume session a week is kinda inefficient. A late novice/early intermediate lifter doesnt need a skills test every week. He needs lots of volume and less specificity in order to build muscle and work capacity, as well as round out weak points.

Switch to a different program.

Do you know how to hip hinge properly?
>>
>>38174844
Looks that way to me. Like your sacrum amd lumbar vertebrae are trying to tear away from each other.

Do some one legged hip hinges, get to know what it feels.like to have your hips open and close. Always do Romanian deadlift with the bar and 95-135lbs as a warmup to practice hip hinging.

Before leaning over to pull, blow all the air out of your lungs forcefully, then inhale while maintaining that pressure.
>>
>>38174912
I would like to chime in and say I think you can OVER enforce the hinge.
I use to hinge back as much as physically possible and it was uncomfortable and my back rounded ever so slightly.

However now I pull with an wifely straight spine just but grabbing the bar and pulling my torso up and hips down.

Honestly as simple as that
>>
>>38174948
Look at that dudes back by his hips and tell me hes overhinging.

And to me it sounds like you were thinking too much about your setup, not that you were overhinging.
>>
My gym has a deadlift which is longer and thinner and I think wippier?
Should I train with this or always use the standard barbell?

The bar feels stronger in my hands and there is no knurling where I want my feet to be so I get to use a wider stance than with the other bars.

I don't know if it will have a smaller carry over to my comp deadlift tho?

GRANTED, I've noticed no difference in strength between using both bars and I've been using them both to deadlift for months,
>>
>>38174959
I'm not saying he's over hinging, I'm saying if you focus really hard on hinging you can over do it, IMHO / IME

>And to me it sounds like you were thinking too much about your setup, not that you were overhinging.

Yeah I'm trying to - in my setup I RDL as much as possible before bending the knees. But even with a light or empty bar I still get a slight round - here is a pic at a lighter weight. I'll try get a better angle pic next time.
I already warm up with RDLs and I've started to focus on them a lot since noticing this problem but I still can't seem to get totally straight. I'm also working on my flexibility.
I appreciate the advice - I'll definitely work in single leg hinges into my routine from now on.

>>
>>38174970
if you don't have any issues with your speed off the floor, deadlift bars are good for overloading, but don't count your deadlift bar max as your actual deadlift max, that's kinda cheaty/e-statting

>GRANTED, I've noticed no difference in strength between using both bars and I've been using them both to deadlift for months,
then yeah you're probably really strong off the floor.
>>
>>38175015
>Feels like Im squatting it up
This is absolutely fine. A squat is actually more mechanically advantaged at similar hip angles. This is why people can lift more by hitching, it gives them more leverage. It only becomes a problem if your hips consistently rise during the lift (not before the bar starts moving, but during the lift itself). In that case it means youre not tight enough somewhere and are just dumping power out.
>>
>>38175047
Ok I just got home so I'll do it next session. I do have weirdly big love handles so I hope that's at least some of the effect. For what's is worth, my lower back doesn't hurt, I'm more just disattisfued with the vids I take; it seems like when I look online for DL pics the lifters asses stick out way more which is a position I simply can't seem to get to, even with no weight.
Cheers, I appreciate the advice.
>>
>>38175064
I'll try and use the normal bar then. Or maybe when I do dead lift to knees I'll use that bar and the deadlift bar for normal diddies

Wow how do you know that's neutral?

He fucking doesnt, and he really needs to second guess himself before posting.
>>
>>38175120
>>38175129
I definitely am, I know what a neutral spine feels like at this point, and I've recorded sets from slightly behind myself, which have showed a neutral spine, despite my large love handles giving the impression that it isn't.

Incidentally this is about as straight as I can get without rounding - lack of flexibility maybe?

glad you are doing a taper. tapering really is the right way to go.

Just do ~100 mg less for a couple days, then ~100 mg less, etc etc until you are down to just ~100 or ~200 PWO.

Maybe 100 ~pwo, 100 rest of day.

Good feels. So far I've not done a single set of squats higher than 3 reps and I've added 20kg to my squat

if you had 2 reps definitely and you think you wouldn't have any form breakdown, it's an 8.

if you had 1 rep definitely and may have had form breakdown on the second rep or missed the second rep, it's closer to an 8.5

my point is that such a face looks more like a true @9.5/10 RPE not an 8 ffs

He's not, it's a joke. Commisar's uncle is/was a coach for the bulgarian team, he does his uncle's weightlifting program.

Going to try and run Smolov Bench and Squat for 3 weeks at the same time, is this a bad idea?

General consensus last time I asked was that I am a retard but idk
>>
>>38178284

yes it's a bad idea.

I've been working the junior bench version into my GZCL routine and it can be rough. I didn't cut much out of what I was doing. Running the proper smolov squat and bench together would probably be impossible
>>
>>38178334
I understand it's a bad idea but I'm asking if it's possible to do for just the three week period.
>>
>>38178334
>>38178367
Worded that badly, I now understand it's stupid, just wanna know if it is in fact doable, ty for input
>>
>>38178284

It's the most stupid idea you could ever had. I did it, btw hahaha.

But yeah, just don't. It puts too much stress in your body, your joints will hurt a lot (by the last week my elbows were on fire), and, unless you have a met and need to compensate a lacking squat or bench, it's just not worth it.
