I'm doing TM for all my lifts, with Spoto included on recovery day since my chest is fucking garbage tier.

Using 1RM estimations, once I hit around 350 for 5 reps I SHOULD be able to do 4pl8 for 1RM. Of course that is just an assumption but I'm gonna stick with it for now, so I theoretically I have to add about 55-60 pounds to my 5RM.

I definitely think that is doable within 6 months, especially with how I eat. I went from 160 -> 290 squat 5RM in the past 4 months and my bw went from 168 ->183-185, so about a pound a week

I know there won't be an exact number but just for estimates sake.

First pull maybe starts a bit lower, yes. There are some more differences. Many put the bar over their toe joints so it isn't touching their shins at the start. More room to pull knees out of the way and prevent looping around the knees. Also, you shouldn't really drag the bar up your thighs. Friction is bad as it reduces momentum (not that you know physics, you med school casual).

so I recorded myself squatting from the back again, did some meh-weight singles today and they felt pretty fkn easy, but it looks like the outsides of my heels are coming up

BUT I don't really think this is the case. for all of the singles, I was pretty much thinking only about keeping them down, and I'm roughly 100% sure that they did stay down based on how they felt.

so what could be happening?

WELL, I think that my heels are on the inside of my shoe, as opposed to the center, and a bit forward in the shoe, so when I go down and start pushing up, I am pushing not in the center of them, but slightly towards the inside, and this is causing the back-outside of the heel to come up on the shoe. you can see that my knees really aren't caving at all, like I would expect if my heels were coming up, and I think form-wise, this was a pretty solid rep.

like I said, I am pretty much positive that my heels are staying down, but it does look like they are coming up. that being said, on my 470x4 set from the other day, my heels were absolutely up. but on this one, I am pretty positive they're down.

You're thinking about clean deadlift vs deadlift. And even then, that's not the only difference. I've written at least five long posts explaining the details of this.

Regardless, a Clean and a Clean Pull is NOT a Clean Deadlift.

The bar far in front of you is not optimal for pulling.
That's why they always have it in contact with their shins at the start. Because that's the closest the bar can get to them while still allowing them to get as deep as they need for the pull.
