My watch is Citizen's best mechanical, the NA0000-59B. Essentially like a Grand Seiko, but it ain't even got that branding - it's just a Citizen Automatic. Great if you don't want people noticing your Rolex.

I'm just going to recommend you watches that I like:
>Seagull 1963 (apparently a good auto despite being Chinese, very good looking original design for the price)
>hamilton field
>Mondaine, (quartz and apparently a shitter according to a few people who own it, but I consider it /fa/ as opposed to /g/)
>Baltic (some microbrand with good looking auto, very /fa/ but no guarantee that it's reliable)
At this price point you should check out /wt/ on /g/, although they will recommend you a better Seiko like SARB035

200m WR which is what the alpinist and Orients are rated isn't really the same as 200m Diver which the SKX is rated, but you probably wouldn't ever notice the difference in practice I guess. Also, the SKX is pretty small wrist friendly despite its size.

At a quick glance this looks nice, but I do think this one strap looks wrong for the watch. The clean perfection of the rolex doesn't work well with the almost dirty looking texture of the strap, I'd get a strap with the same type of grain and colour but with a more luxurious texture to accommodate the rolex properly.

as soon as I ordered my f91w I wanted to order this one instead. It's a bit more substantial, and being able to swim with it is helpful. Though you can actually swim with the f91w, it's not recommended, but it honestly wouldn't have a problem. and even if it did, it's a 5 dollar watch. but if my f91w beater did get lost or broken (less likely) I would replace it with a W59, definitely.

If you ever want a redpill on watches, work a service job.

You will NEVER notice anyone's watch because they look like a generic metal band for most all people.

In my experience, you'll get shit on by /fa/, but the only types of watches people will notice are DWs or simple colored face watches with leather straps like pic related even though Komono is cheap as fuck.

Most watches /fa/ wears look like car speedometers with too many ornate details that no one will ever notice or care about but you.
>>
>>12674346
Benrus are reasonably well known. If it's gold then it's probably 60's. I doubt it's worth a great deal but it isn't a shitter.

to add on, /fa/ neglects that no one stares at your wrist. They see you at a glance generally and will only see your watch at a distance or from their periphery

What this means is that the autistic weirdos like in OP's video that post watches with a million details are dumb.

It'll look like a bunch of garbled junk to most people if they even look at it for a second which they won't

last point is that the same simple basic design which adds a nuance to the outfit as a whole can be done expensively as well

Komono and DW are cheap and you're buying the design more than the quality, but Nomos watches like pic related do the same thing (as in actually get people to notice your watch) but are expensive and higher quality.
>>
>>12674991
Yeah you'll notice DW and Komono because they're cheap tasteless dinner plates for people who get their taste from Facebook ads.
>>
>>12675020
It's kind of funny to me that people seem incapable of grasping that watches are like a cherry on top of large shake with whipped cream.

You aren't wearing just a watch, you're wearing a whole outfit which people will notice first and foremost. The watch is supposed to only add side detail because again NO ONE will EVER grab your wrist and stare at the tiny little details and numbers/words on your watch.

Because of your autism, you think a watch has to steal the show rather than add to it subtly.
>>
>>12675026

Hell yeah you should wear it as a dress watch, but get it serviced first. I would swap the strap for something different, but that's personal taste I guess. Dress watches are supposed to be small, the 60s was a great time for gold dress watches.

Shame yours is so scratched up especially since it's gold plated, but there's not much you can do about case scratches anyway without ruining a watch. The crystal can easily be polished up though, which always immediately makes a watch look ten times better. The crown seems a little off, like it doesn't fit properly. Maybe it's a non-original replacement or it took a hit or something. There's no way to know for sure what shape the movement is in, but it doesn't look like there's any water damage at all to the dial so there shouldn't be any on the movement either.
>>
>>12675379
Thanks! I'll take it to someone to get it polished up and serviced.
>>
is it ok to wear a g shock?

>>
>>12675411
I think it looks nice, however, I would keep it with casual clothes.
>>
>>12675391
You can polish the crystal yourself with polywatch or even plain white toothpaste and a soft cloth. When you get it serviced I'm sure they'll polish the crystal very thoroughly for you, but those plastic crystals scratch really easy so just keep in mind that you can always polish it up yourself later on to keep it nice. You can't polish the case of the watch since it's gold plated, but polishing a watch is usually a bad idea anyway.

Someday someone's gonna be like "nice watch! What is it?"
"UHHHH it's a komono"
And right there and then you're exposed as shitter.
Sure, a watch needs to blend into the whole outfit. But it's something more than a shirt you fuckhead.
If your accessories don't blend in or look stupid, just don't wear em with certain outfits.
But wearing uninteresting, cheap, soulless shit because "matchy, matchy" is another level my guy. If you're serious about your clothing, be serious about your accessories you cunt. Don't treat a watch like a garment, because it isn't you fucking nignog.
Either scrape the cash and buy a real, interesting timepiece or don't wear a watch at all. Btw, there's serious watches out there for even less than that kimono fashion shit.

Pretty sure the logo is Omega, which means it's probably a vintage Seamaster. I'm not sure though because it seems strangely thick and oversized. Also why the hell is he wearing a nice watch if he's doing something that requires gloves?

just to clarify, when you say "real timepiece"/"serious watches", is this including simple and cheap but respectable watches like Timex's and Casio's and Seiko 5's as well? Because if so, I totally cosign this. A SNK809 isn't much, but it's a real watch that has its place in a collection. Unlike Fossil and Nixon and such.

Sup watch thread, anybody know where I can find a good quality reproduction of the rolex ad (or similar ads) in this here shitpost, in obnoxious dorm room poster size? I wear a seiko my dad bought me since I'm a broke student but I want to aspire for something greater. I already have a decent resolution scan of it from some googling, but not a super great resolution.

nice

I can't really help you, but I'm seconding this for interest as well. I printed a Nikon ad to hang above my camera collection because I like those old magazine ads. I own an Explorer so I'd love to have a neat ad to put by my watches too. I sure wish 1016 Explorers like in the photo were still $195.

A cyclop on a chronograph with dive bezel. Also branding generic 7750 as muh in-house calibre. This is everything that's wrong with TAG. I've never seen a more try-hard watch with equally awful identity crisis. Don't even for a minute think the money you throw at this watch bought you a respectable spot in horology. I guarantee the watch is going already lose half of its value in 2 years. Your grand kids are gonna be PISSED you left this crap behind when you eventually croak. Nice cop dumb fuck next time spend your cash with intent more ambitious than to impress reddit.

That's harsh but I agree.

The only TAG Heuer watches I like are the Monaco and the Silverstone.

No if you need higher accuracy than a watch provides why are you using a watch to time it?
That's like measuring a mile with an inch long ruler, it's not the rulers fault your retarded and are trying to do something it isn't suited for. Horses for courses my duder.

Are timex watches any good?

What are some other good common brands in the price range of Seiko, Casio and Tissot?

Anyone own a Nomos or Stowa?

Stowa is a hell of a lot cheaper but it's a fair bit thicker than the Nomos which I'm not a fan of. Apparently a really good quality watch though still.
>>
>>12678315

Timex watches have ridiculously loud ticking sound and it's the industry biggest mystery why they have not done anything about it.

In $100-200 range you can get very respectable Casio, Citizen, Seiko and Orient watches with excellent quality, designs and even some in automatic movements.

Timex weekender has the tick issue, don't know about fairfield, the chrono models do not have this problem.
Good brands are Seiko, Citizen and Casio. Go for these if you want the best bang for the buck.

Buy your Nomos used. You'll be happier. And if you're not, you're more likely to be able to sell it for about what you paid.

Buying new is for suckers.

Yes, definitely. I wouldn't exactly call a seiko 5, casio or timex a serious watch. A grand seiko would be a serious watch. Or a skx. Basically just any watch with an impact on horology as a whole. A Vostok Amphibia is imo a very serious watch. Because of it's place in horology. And you can cop that shit for 40 bucks.
But that said, your choices are definitely respectable. A Seiko 5 is probably worth more than a shitty fashion watch for double that. Kudos for not buying bullshit, anyway.

I bought it 2 years ago and costed me 400usd in the authorized Citizen store but I can't find it online or anything, must be a rare model I think. Well give me your opinions, oh, 100% japanese because it says "Made in Japan" not "Japan Movt"
