I really like green/ it suits my eyes very nicely so I copped this shell - I get better than wholesale on Patagonia (and salomon, hence the boots) so I picked up a ton of their shit.

I'm outdoorsy but I'm not like swiss alps guy with spandex leggings 24/7 outdoorsy. Trying to reflect that, kinda casual n stuff. What do you think about this jacket?

Looks good for snowboarding, which you'll definitely be able to do in Hokkaido.

I would maybe just cop a more fashion oriented or casual hardshell with goretex, and you'd be golden for a long time.

I didn't mean ugly by that

I meant: do you actually want to wear technical stuff or do you just want to look the part

Sock darts are okay, they aren't the prettiest shoe. People who aren't into shoes or tech fashion don't like them, so if that bothers you then don't get them. I'd recommend the air presto utility as a good alternative to those
>>
>>12609676
This. The mid is a bit better in my opinion.
There's also a wide range of Goretex trail runners if you want peak function and something you can use for every situation imaginable.
>>
>>12609676
seconding this, the prestos are actually very nice to look at.

>>12609694
Or to imply that a style is dependent on your hairstyle. Just having a hairstyle that is fashionable with the times is all you need.
>>
>>12609698
I have the aggravic gtx for trail running. Salomon has some nice models but is the premium of runners.
>>
>>12609696

It's a rule of thumb not to wear a camo from your native country due to possible political issues and people may think you are some autistic LARPer. I'm from the US and I never wear woodland or ACU due to them being both overdone here and possibly pissing off radicals of both political spectrums.
>>
>>12610446
I think you're over reacting, has this every happened to you?
>>
>>12610458
No but I have heard of many cases of it happening both here and in other countries. There are zealous autists here in the US that might claim "stolen valor" on anybody who wears a piece of US military clothing even without any insignia or naming or not in full uniform. Their intentions of busting people who try to fake being vets for benefits I have no problem with but they can get uppity even if you do nothing of the sort. For some reason they couldn't give two shits if you wear a foreign camo though.

These people I mentioned tend to be on the right side of the political spectrum but I have also heard of people who lean on the left getting pissy since they think the people wearing the clothing are advocating for war/violence. It sounds ridiculous but it can happen.
>>
>>12610458
Nah this does happen in America

The hippies and the world police officers get triggered when they see camo, even when it's not an American camo
>>

Hot environments are only the downfall of the prevailing techwear aesthetic. When techwear is done right it should prevail in all conditions. But there isn't a magic silver bullet garment for all conditions (yet) so it's important to at least have an understanding of material performance, layering systems, macro and microclimate.

Unfortunately the most effective outfit in hot weather most likely looks like non-black, non-synthetic tee shirt and shorts. Aesthetically, not super interesting.

I tried on airism shirts and they make your nipples super visible any time the shirt touches your body, in addition to the weird uniqlo cut where they accentuate thinness (have to size up and hem bottom [?] because of this). Mesh ones aren't as bad but still somewhat transparent.

I'm on a budget below $150 to buy a pair of my bf who's into techninja/cyberpunk core. Location Clothing is really dirt cheap, but is the material really shit? The website doesn't specify any fabric used so they might be using some low-tier fabric?
>Nylon Talson
>2 layer
>windproof
>waterproof
>high-quality fabric
>>
>>12617824
They're just cheap nylon pants, can't be a ninja if you're pants make as much noise as they will
>>
>>12617354
If you want quality clothes for harsh conditions, check hiking/trekking/outdoors brands. Patagonia, Mammut, Northface, Marmot, etc. Basically, the actual stuff that uses technical materials.
And yes, in cold conditions you still need layers of clothing. They trap air between each other and air is the best insulation, really. Ideally you want a tight base layer preferably from wool, some sort of light jacket made of fleece or similar material, and depending on the weather either a hardshell or softshell jacket. Something that repels water and has a gore-tex membrane if it's rainy, or a down jacket if it's seriously below freezing.
>>
>>12617838
So should I get cotton twill instead? But preferably some wr and breathable is nice too. Any recommendations for someone's first pair of pants?
>>
>>12617450
Why did they hate on TnF? I don't buy their stuff because it's pricey, but from what I've seen their stuff is hit and miss. Some stuff is really good though.

Concerning Mammut, I have a few things, and they are top notch. Bought some equipment for trekking in Himalayas.
I bought this jacket:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mammut-Mens-Masao-Shelled-Jacket/dp/B00G6T93GG/
It's really light, and doesn't provide much in terms of warmth, but it's full gore-tex, with seams that allow full range of movement, and some sort of water-repellent coating. I managed to get under pouring rain in it while cycling, and after getting to the destination, the only my torso was dry thanks to this jacket.

I also have boots and fleece jacket from this brand, they are great as well. I only have to mention that they are not cheap, so waiting for sale would be advisable.
>>
>>12617859
>If you want quality clothes for harsh conditions, check hiking/trekking/outdoors brands. Patagonia, Mammut, Northface, Marmot, etc. Basically, the actual stuff that uses technical materials.

IF that's the look you're going for though.

>>12617354
Nowhere did I say techwear clothing is terrible. I said you should read the sticky. The reason why is to get a basic understanding of what you are dealing with when it comes to jackets and their materials.

White Mountaineering, Visvim, Acronym, Nike ACG, Patagonia, The North Face, etc. All deal with Goretex waterproof jackets. There are many many brands that each offer a distinct look and materials.
A little research can go a long way for finding the middle ground between the look you want and the function that comes with technical fabrics.
>>
>>12617865
A cotton twill with a dwr would work well, peak performance might have something suitable and that'll likely be a polyester blend which should dry faster too
>>
>>12617824
For below $150 your pickings are slim. Your best bet for the highest quality is something second hand. Brands to look at might be Nike ACG, and Y-3.

Otherwise, in terms of Twill, you can get these Enfin Leve and buy a DWR coating to apply to them.

I like the slim fit and cargo pockets of those Enfin Leve. Although I'm on a low budget, sweatpants are kinda out of considerations. What do you think about these from 0608wear? 0608's quality can be iffy, and this spring's pants were really weak.
The two I recommended are really close to your budget, you might have to bump it a little to get something you won't be disappointed in. Enfin Leve makes the pants at custom measurements free of charge. You can ask them to give it a drop crotch or not, etc. Just simply leave a comment in the notes.

I think its basically because its seen as whatever their version of a "normie" brand is, similar thoughts on Columbia too. Its understood as a good brand but just not sought after up there, people prefer "rugged" brands like carhartt and Xtratuff or Arctryx and black diamond.
Good to know on Mammut though, I appreciate the response. That jacket looks nice and considering I live in AZ now warmth isn't too much of an issue. Mammut has always held appeal because I honestly love the logo and it looks like really high quality stuff. It also tends to occasionally go on sale unlike arctyrx making it a little more accessible for super high quality mountaineering stuff.
>>
>>12619341
>>12619345
You can wear shorts and T-shirts made of advanced fabrics and construction and it will be techwear
>>
>>12619539
Well, TnF is worn by a lot of people who have never been to a place where such clothing would be needed, so I guess I can understand the reputation. Harsh conditions require durable, reliable clothing, and style is not the top priority.

In addition to the other brands that were mentioned, I have to say that people need to check out Black Yak. I never tried it myself, but apparently it's also a very good company for mountaineering clothes. There are a couple of stores in US, maybe they offer shipping.

T-Shirts, Merino
You can go for some synthetic performance fabrics like polyester. But Merino will look casual. Shorts go ahead and get something breathable. Outlier's shorts are great, but you don't have to settle there. Look for stuff in cotton twill, hemp, and even linen to keep things light,

Whats a good way to arrange colors without dressing in all black?
>>
errolson, much like rick owens with his respective brand, is the only person who looks good wearing all acronym every day. everyone else that does will invariably end up looking like a complete nerd with no personality

techwear, like all menswear subsets, really isn't meant to be a single, all-consuming style that people can just adopt wholesale. deciding to shift your entire wardrobe to techy stuff. 90% of the time the weather where you live doesn't necessitate tech clothing: even light rain and considerable cold can be dealt with without ODing on goretex shells and the kind of insulation you need to climb mountains for 18 hours straight. and let's be real: you can survive most weather just fine with a cheaper TNF shell and some patagonia gear, so let's not pretend you need a $1200 acr shell because it's that much more functional than a TNF

techwear is fun but it's best when mixed in with a more diverse wardrobe. i like my acr stuff but i like it the most when i wear it with other non-tech stuff rather than copying my style straight from the lookbook
>>
>>12624739
**deciding to shift your entire wardrobe to techy stuff is a bad idea
>>
>>12624721
Come on man, go read the sticky page on color theory.

I appreciate you making this post in a non-shitposting way and opening a dialogue about this subject.

Yeah, there are some who will look at the instagram users who post nothing but techwear and then try to emulate them with their entire wardrobe, but this simply put is just too much.

Where I disagree with you, however, is that you can't go 'full tech'. Techwear is encompassing of a good amount of different styles and while some will debate that officewear tech like Outlier, or hiking gear like TNF can't be tech I believe that they do fall into the broader definition of the genre.

On a personal level. I have workwear that I wear to work, clothes that have an Americana feel and are cheaper (yet durable) because I know they're going to get fucked up.
I have hiking gear that I can go trail running with or hiking/camping in because I want to be comfy and look decent.
And I have techwear I wear when I want to go urbex or just enjoy a day in the city.

Not many people will commit to one style or one designer in their wardrobe usually, and for most techwear is just an entry into the world of purpose built fabrics which are not a bad thing at all.

>anyone have a suggestion for a techy fishtail

Lol no

i mean this thread is called "urban techwear" on a fashion forum – there's plenty of brands with serious techwear credentials, but i feel like there's a specific subset of tech when we talk about techwear – clothes for people that want to dress in a way that reflects the city they live in, with all the modernist influences given by tech. so when we talk about utw, all those other tech brands collapse into a few that are best suited for modern urban life. (i don't count outlier as tech, because it's either just plainly tech or their bizcas stuff just looks like sportswear to me)

plus most urban tech is already rooted in streetwear to begin with – which is why acr keeps doing nike collabs. so to separate urban techwear from the streetwear culture in whatever city you're wearing it in seems silly to me

I just bought a new BDU jacket, and I expected it to have the patch tag on the inside like every used BDU jacket that I've owned, but it has the annoying, itchy "lip" tag sewn into the neck area instead. What gives? I figured that since the site said that it was a "genuine issue" jacket that it'd have the patch tag. Do they only use those tags for the jackets that they make for the military?
