IF is very good for losing weight. First few days are difficult but after that it's easier than a bunch of meals per day, because with IF you don't get as hungry and it's very easy to stay within your calories - plus you feel full when you do eat.

And I normally can't drink lukewarm water, I get a couple of sips and I just can't drink it like a sweet drink or something, but I've found that if it's ice water, then its super easy for me to drink an entire glass.

Been doing IF for a while but with a big window. They say having over 12 hours fasted frequently can fuck with your hormones if you're a girl but nothing is 100% conclusive. I still occasionally do fasts longer than 12 hours but not more than once weekly.

Not sure if hormones getting fucked up is a meme though, I know ladies who do smaller eating windows and seem fine, but I'm paranoid and trying to stay healthy. I usually eat twice a day.

because there is no conclusive way of living that is the 'healthiest'. of course there is common sense things like excercise, eating enough fruits/vegetables and proper hydration, but there are no scientifical facts as to how much one should excercise, drink or what amount from which vitamin you need to be at optimal health.

then again, most of us live in a city full of pollutants and eat organic/gmo/w.e food of which nobody knows IF it even does any harm to the body and if so HOW MUCH harm it really does

and then if you set an own truth for yourself which is the ultimate method for optimal health, you have to make tons of sacrifices. Oh, this day i need between 1h20m and 1h40m of exercise, or i cant drink this diet soda because it contains aspertame, or i have to buy these really expensive avocados because those are genetically modified, and for what? a slightly 'happier life' (which is also really debatable) or so that i can live a year longer than a person who DOES drink diet soda.
striving for optimal or perfect health carries so much worry and social/financial sacrifices that it's not worth it to me. I used to track all my food with cron-o-meter, searched for studies on optimal nutrition intake and compared them all. Filled them into my daily goals and was obsessively filling everything in to gain exact goals. not only was it time consuming and expensive, it was stressing me out during the day.
now i just balance everything out, mostly eating fruits and vegetables, but cheat and eat fries now and then. i exercise quite often, stay active during the day and do the other obvious stuff. this balance has brought peace in my lifestyle t b q h

what i have learned from the obsessive food tracking is the nutritional information of certain foods. like i can eyeball 200gr of green beans and i know how much % of my vitamin A and vitamin K it covers, so i know what other vegetables to combine it with.

But that is how you stay healthy. You can eat junk every once in a while, the problem is when you fill your body with shit daily that can fuck you up. Putting yourself under that much stress isn't healthy at all, I can see how giving yourself leeway made you feel much better.

It's not about disbelief in "CICO"

It's understanding that you have less control over the "CO" portion of the equation than most people would have you believe.

When you severely restrict CI, the body compensates by lowering CO by reducing NEAT, making you colder, miserable, and hungry. IF is a strategy to mitigate this effect by cycling fasting and feasting states. i.e. you collect all your calories into one large meal that makes you feel full, instead of trickling calories throughout the day. Further, there IS a metabolic advantage to the low-insulin state promoted by keto/IF that promotes lipolysis over a standard high-carb diet.

Yeah, I'm just trying to figure out what would work best for me. Seems like 16 hour is really what works for my schedule because I often have work lunches and then dinner becomes kind of late. I'm hoping that's enough. This weekend I'm doing 24h but a lot of times that would be pretty hard to do for family and social reasons.

I wonder if eating a no-carb lunch would help extend it out.

Buying skinny / slim jeans is a nightmare because no pair of pants fit properly around my calves and I always have to buy a bigger pair of pants, which end up hugging my calves, yet being way too wide at the waist and way too long.

I don't know if the 65-68 kilogram weight range appears thin to you guys, it probably doesn't, but many would describe me as a pretty thin dude, a frail, young-looking guy. I don't eat a lot because I don't have a lot of money, live by myself and usually just forget to eat or something. The problem is, while my shoulders and frame in general seem to vanish after periods of starvation, my legs always stay as fat as ever.

Is there any hope for me to have slim, slender legs? Has anyone got any experience with losing weight specifically around the calves for males? I'm tired of looking like a short, stubby-legged dude with no properly fitting jeans. It seems as if I've never had thin legs even when I used to starve for months. What am I doing wrong?

If it's muscle the best way to get rid of it is too stop using it

Do you do anything that could engage them too much? You don't have to consciously work out
Maybe you unconsciously flex them or walk too much or in a strange way

If it's mostly fat you'll just have to loose a bit of weight and hopes it leaves your legs first

Also post pics of legs

If it's calves they might also be not fat or muscular but simply swollen (though probably not)

If you want to fix your insulin resistance, fasting is the way to start. You are a good candidate for the keto diet also. In the very least you should be eating extremely low carbs if you are already insulin resistant.

If you have diabetes then you need to consult your doctor and monitor things.

Last time I ate something that could be considered low kcal with regular portions I made a chilli with buckwheat groats instead of meat (you have to add extra water/broth for the buckweat but otherwise you can use any recipe) and I think it ended up being about 300-400kcal per bowl and very filling
But you would have to make more and eat it throughout the day since all ingredients are canned

I'm 5' 11" and at 143-lbs right now. I feel pretty thin but I'm older. I decided recently to go to 140-lbs and see how I feel. Going to inch down and see what I like the best.

So I'd say go to 145-lbs and see how you like it. For one thing I don't want to go too much smaller because jeans will become a problem. Smallest size I can find is a 28 most places.

I took a clothed one at 145-lbs comparing me to when I was 216-lbs (start point). I'm 31.

I maintained 145-lbs for a while and now I'm just starting to inch down a bit further to see how it goes.

I've been doing 16:8 for a while, with occasional 24 hour fasts, and I think it makes things easier for me and hopefully is helping my metabolism. Once I got down to my goal I got cold and had to eat very little to maintain, I think my BMR is/was just very low. So, hoping IF helps with that so I can eat more normally.
