If you want recs, provide as many criteria as possible: including sex, price range, seasons/weather, occasions, other frags/notes/accords you like/dislike, special conditions i.e. can easily be found in mall department stores, other ephemera i.e. personal style/aura you want to project, etc...

Anybody use V&R Spice Bomb?

Looking for a cozy fall/winter scent -- don't see it mentioned in the infographic.
>>
>>12125627
It certainly can be, but consider that bottle contains approximately 300 applications of fragrance. If you are happy wearing the same frag all year, you're pretty much set. There are plenty of great frags to be had at a lower price point too.

I kinda wanted the same thing. Salt Water Taffy by Demeter is a 1 dimensional boozey sweet smell, with a weird chemically metal aftertinge. Bondfag / Rasasi hoarder reporting in with a new collection pic. AMA I guess.

The only Rasasis I recommend without reservation are La Yuqawam, Tobacco Blaze, and Al Wisam Day. The rest are mildly disappointing, particularly Entebaa (indistinct mess) and the Rumz series (thin and cheap formulas). Faqat lil Rijal literally smells like manure and Daarej is just vaguely sweet vanilla-wood with little to give it real personality.

I have a secondhand bottle of La Yuquawam Ambergris Showers in the mail, and I make Rumz al Rasasi Zebra work by layering it on top of La Yuquawam for a ghetto Tuscaventus. Maybe I'll find a way to enjoy the others, but they're likely to end up on ebay or given away.
>>
>>12127047

Smelling 2 for you from a 9ml mini bottle dabbed on skin:

Primarily an airy, sweet floral fragrance with light spicy undercurrents. Cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, check. I definitely get the bay leaf and incense as well, but everything is nicely blended together and nothing dominates. To me the inkiness comes across as a kind of dark background for all of the other notes to play against, adding weight to the composition. It's more of a presence than something you can focus on. To imagine what ink note smells like, think of slowly sniffing a newspaper.

w2c samples of CdG parfums (>>12124623) within the EU? luckyscent has all 3 but might have import charges since they're based in the US, and the perfumed court has all 3 but has dumb shipping prices. the others in the OP don't have all 3. i'm fine with running the chance of import costs but I was wondering if there are any more sample stores based in the EU that have these 3
>>
>>12127771
Maybe, I haven't had a chance to properly test it but I'll tell you a bit about it
It's classy 100%. Definitely winter fragrance, can work in the fall too. Opens with a sweet grapefruit note which only lasts for 15-30 mins or so on my skin before it settles down to a spicy leather scent that sits somewhat close to the skin. Not a 'look at me' fragrance but it's classy, seductive and gonna be appreciated by people when they get close to you. It's more mature than most hyped fragrances are. It's really masculine, and it's not really a scent for somebody who gives off that metro sexual vibe IMO. At its heart it's a leather jacket sexy alluring masculine scent
>>
>>12127756
not who you are asking but i think CDG2 is a great year round scent, but only for the daytime. it has a type of brightness that doesn't compliment the nighttime.

Fragrance is a particularly autistic hobby. Just look at any Aventus discussion thread on Basenotes.

>>12128670
Pic related is my top wears since I started tracking last Fall. Lots of Bond, Mancera, and Creed in my rotation. I like stuff that can still be smelled on clothes after they've been through the laundry, which is why I've been wearing lots of Ouds this Winter.

Stuff I dislike - some of the cheaper Rasasis, old CK frags I bought before I knew better and based on nostalgia. Basically anything weak or reformulated. I buy blind most of the time, and my only big disappointments have been Prada Infusion de Vetiver, modern (reformulated) Fahrenheit, and some bad Aventus clones. Everything else I either enjoyed out of the box or came to appreciate as my nose became acclimated to new notes.

hey y'all looking for a new high end fragrance since I've been living a fairly boring life of La Nuit and D&G soapy citrus junk.

I'm mainly looking for a winter, everyday scent but that just means I'll wear it on all occasions.

Notes I like are Vanilla, tobacco, woods, "powdery", a light sweetness, and lavender. Male.

I've enjoyed YSL's la nuit, Le Labo's the noir except for the sweetness being a bit much at times.

Any ideas, friends?
>>
>>12128644

is the EDP similar to the EDT? if so i wouldnt recommend, the scent is amazing, one of my favorites in fact. an addicting, sweet blend of vanilla and tobacco, but performance is trash, sits close the skin and genuinely just fades away after 1-2 hours. not an everyday scent, more like a date night scent. then again the EDP is probably better since parfums are usually much stronger than toilettes
>>
>>12131526
the performance on the EDP is decent. scent is almost identical, slightly richer. I get 2-3 hours of projection and 6 hours or so longevity
>>
is there anything almost identical to D&G The One but without the abysmal performance? i have it and it's genuinely one of my favorite scents (as i described in >>12131526), but i can't even wear it as it disappears before I even get to school. i could keep it in my bag and reapply throughout the day but i'd have the reapply it like 4-5 times a day, with like 3-5 sprays each time. seems like a good way to empty the bottle in no time at all

New York Amber would definitely please you. Try to sniff Bond Signature Perfume as well if you like sweet stuff (tonka bean especially).

I always recommend people try Bleecker Street because it is the scent that got me into Bond to begin with. Mossy blueberry with green and gourmand notes. Novel and surprisingly complex.

For daytime wear my safest Bond recommendations are Scent of Peace fH (juniper-pineapple-cedar bomb) and Chez Bond (easy-wearing, sportier cousin of GIT).

My personal favorites right now are New York Patchouli (complex, retro style musk bomb) and New York Oud (a rainy day rose-plum-patchouli oud).

Sniff them at Saks or Harrod's or cop samples.

Same, i bought another bottle of that a month or so ago since it smells so nice.. you're not gonna get much love for it here though, anything that actually smells good to 9/10 people and gets bitches wet is looked down upon here. Pic related is another example, I get compliments literally every time I've worn it but according to /fa/ it's "synthetic woody amber swill"

By the way, take note of the types of people who are making these judgements, for example a 130lbs virgin >>12127472 I know I'm assuming, but it's safe to say if asked he will hate on Invictus or FFL.
>>
>>12131942
Not him but fuck dude, you need to get off your high horse. People have different tastes in frags, so what? For most people invuctus and fuel for life are just too sweet and synthetic, they still appreciate them for what they are though just dont like them.
Also, everyone's tastes change depending on their age and how far into this hobby they are. For example, when I started out, I couldn't stand bdc, dior homme and dior homme intense, but now I absolutely adore them. As time went by, I tended to move away from sweet and synthetic smelling frags and into less sweet and more natural smelling. That's not to say I dont still enjoy a sweet or synthetic frag such as invictus, ive just become accustom to nicer frags

Picked up a sample of this, and I'm really fascinated with the way it reacts to heat. I put it on and couldn't smell it for a while, but once a threw a coat on and walked outside for a while, it came to life. Really pleasant scent too. Not sure if it's $135 good though.

On the other hand, I gave Escentric 01 a try too, and couldn't stand it. Smelled like IKEA wood.

Most fragrances react the way you described to body heat and clothing layers.

Search for generic Molecule 01 / Iso E Super on ebay and save yourself a lot of money.

Guise, please stop using cologne. It's not just tacky and overbearing. It's an assault on senses.

>Is Le Labo a meme?
It's more expensive than it probably should be, but in my experience all their scents are very, very good

my mother worked for many years as the manager of a Crabtree & Evelyn store and has been an avid purchaser of bath gels and soaps and scented candles all her life. One year for her birthday I got her some Le Labo shower gels, and she rolled her eyes at me because she thought it was excessive and a little pretentious-looking.

But after she tried them she couldn't go back to anything else. I haven't had to come up with any new mother's day/christmas/birthday ideas in years.

I would say, though, that you should be cautious about sampling their products in the store. I find that the store itself smells so strongly that it clouds your scent judgment, so that when you bring the product home it smells very different than you thought when you sampled it
>>
>>12133041
I've bought all 3 Molecule generics from that seller and am satisfied with what I received. I haven't smelled any of the Molecule releases for comparison's sake, but given their single note composition I don't think I'm missing anything. Will have to confirm next time I'm at a decent perfume counter.

You didn't specify what kind of frags, so a big plug for Sephora. They're mostly designer, but some stores have some niche-y-er stuff, and it is store policy to give you three 2ml atomizers of anything you want every time you go.

For niche stuff, Beverly Hills is great: Barney's, Niemans, Saks and every boutique you can think of for the Les Exclusifs etc.

And Scent Bar is great, but their samples are 0.7ml vials. Next time I go, I might bring some atomizers and see if they'll put the juice in them.

The best part about Aventus is its price tag keeps it from being overplayed

Does anyone have any experience with Fahrenheit 32?

And any Bondfags got any recs? I own MI and SMW from creed if that helps a little. I hate pungentness, also hate woody stuff.
>>
>>12134277
If you enjoy MI, Wall Street is worth sniffing. It's also a salty aquatic, but with a dry cucumber in place of the tropical fruit.

If you're after warm weather scents and don't already own a good neroli fragrance or Cologne, Eau de New York should be nice and cheap right now. It's the Bond take on citrus Cologne, like a Neroli Portofino that lasts 8 hours plus.

Other general Bond recommendations are as given to >>12131758
Bleecker Street, Scent of Peace fH, Chez Bond are popular.

You don't have to worry about heavy woody notes in any Bond scents; the house style is very much unisex-feminine and leans towards amber-musk basenotes rather than woods. When cedar or vetiver show up, they're blunted with fruit and green notes. I can't think of any of my 20 Bonds that could be described as "pungent". Even Bond ouds are smooth.
>>
>>12134302
Thanks brother, since you say amber-musk shows up frequently. What's a sexy and fun scent by them? I have a lot of well rounded niche scents but no eye raisers or anything, I also like Amber a lot synthetic or not it's a lovely smell.
>>
>>12134277
>>12134302
Other scents to consider:

B9 is a really unique 2015 release and worth hunting down to sample. Musky white florals (gardenia!) with saffron and light oud. Warm, clean, and uplifting.

Also look at http://www.bondno9.com (the fragrance named after the URL) if you like the thought of a smokeless Aventus that won't make you smell like Chad and Jamal.

>>12134310
You'll dig that B9.

Just bought a bottle of Acqua de Gio, it's my first time buying a decent perfume. I know probably a lot of people use it, but did I do good?
>>
>>12134460
Not the dipships you replied to but I get where you're coming from. My job and my environment only allows me to be conservative concerning fashion so instead I fill the expense gap with Niche fragrances for fun.

Yeah, wearing Aventus, 1 million, dreamer, and invictus gets the job done if you're looking to please the average person. This is fact, but you have to understand what board you're on. Given the consumerist nature of this very board there's gonna be snobs that try to say Price = Quality, and with fragrances that's definitely not always the case.
Matter of fact I'd argue that this is the opposite because most commercial perfumers aim with the goal of selling something that appeals and smells good to a wide audience for maximum profits.

>>12131942
invictus gives me headache, not because of the scent itself but because of all my friends that wear it completely over apply it
its a potent frag, you don't need to spray it 5 times and then do that every 3 hours, 2-3 sprays on the neck will last most people all day with good sillage
although it is a good fragrance for attracting females, ill agree with you on that one. but that might just be because it's overpowering and not delicate in the slightest

So my bottles of Pineapple Vintage and Pineapple Vintage Noir arrived today and I'm wearing Noir now. I'm not one to give snap opinions on new fragrances, especially from fresh bottles, so I'll wait a few days to pass real judgment on these. For now, a picture of the PV twins with their cousins.

>>12136156
How does Cedrat Boise compare to Aventus?
>>
>>12136254
No birch and a touch of leather/suede. Sweeter, with more focus on currant and vanilla notes. All around, it's probably my favorite scent in the pic. More easily wearable than Aventus, especially when temperatures dip below 60 degrees F. CB is nice and unisex - a female coworker complimented it on me and so I gifted her my travel spray. She still mentions it from time to time.

Cedrat Boise is my Socal Winter selection in the fruity wood category, with Aventus owning Spring and Summer evenings. Scent of Peace / bond.com take over once things get really hot.

About an hour in, I don't think PV Noir / PV are Aventus clones the way that La Yuqawam is straight up Tuscan Leather. The PVs are certainly more complex and more deluxe feeling than Rasasi Zebra et al, but I am not having a dead ringer, a-ha-this-is-Creed moment just yet. It's going to take several wears before I form opinions that I can feel confident about sharing.

Honestly, if you like the fragrance that much I think you can justify just carrying a dispenser with a bit of it on you and re-up on the occasional bathroom trip.

Cologne is meant to be used. It's better that you like it than settle for something longer lasting but not quite there.

Looking for fragrance recommendations, never used fragrance before

Personal: Male, 18
Price range: I don't know what the average is but I guess 50 euros for 100ml or something
Season: Spring/summer
Occasions: Everyday casual use I suppose
Like/dislike: The smell of petrol at gas stations, and freshly baked bread. I don't want to smell like that though, I'm mostly open to any types of scents.
Personal style: I'd like something youthful but traditionally masculine, I am Italian/Portugese (Brazilian) in Sweden and I don't want to smell like a Swedish feminist or like a peninsular Arab.

Preferably something with moderate ("above average") projection and long duration.

Dior sauvage 100%. It's a young man's scent and works well in the heat. Although its common, it's still good.
Otherwise, give l'eau d'issey a go. Lasts for ages and projects well. Only problem is if you've never smelt yuzu before it can be a bit confronting but after a wear or two in the heat you'll fall in love

my grandma told me to keep fragrances that come in clear bottles in their original box because light will make the fragrance lose its potency and complexity
is there any truth to this
>>
>>12142429
There is, avoid exposure to natural sunlight as UV light in it will affect some molecules regardless of the bottle. Also avoid excessive heat/sudden changes in temperature.

If you keep them in a nice, cool drawer or something similar they will last for years.
>>
>>12142429
There is some truth to this. Many chemicals are photosensitive to some degree. The chemicals within perfumes are no exception, so it's best to keep your fragrances away from sunlight.

new here, what's the general opinion on CKONE? Should I go for it as my first real fragrance?
>>
>>12144223
Don't bother with modern CK One. It was great in the 90s, but reformulation and the purchase of CK fragrances by COTY have left it a shell of the fragrance it once was.

Since you're already considering a scent that is worn by literally millions of people, why not get slightly ahead of the curve and wear Dior Sauvage? It has been out for just over a year now and isn't yet totally played out, while working in somewhat the same scent space that CK One occupied 20-plus years ago.
>>
>>12144223
>>12144521
You might also consider Dunhill Icon (2015), Dior Homme Cologne (2013), Calvin Klein CK2 (2016), or Juliette Has a Gun Anyway (2013). Since you're interested in CK One, I recommend these based on their relative lightness and youthfulness / unisex qualities.
Sniff these at your local Sephora and cop some sample vials, then compare them to current CK One. At minimum you should find that they are better performing and longer lasting.

sampled this awhile back and was surprised it isn't more popular, especially being a duchaufour (who, though probably stretching himself too thin in working for whoever waves a checkbook, produces throwaway scents that are better than most). i think the frank los angeles brand fucked up in releasing this as a reformulation of no. 1, and tabacca costamor as a reformulation of no. 3. should have just gone the bond route, but instead of naming them after parts of the city, just do freeways. frank no. 2 can become frank 2 because highway 2 is the right place for that fall scent. frank no. 1 is closer to 405 than pch.

anyway, what i mean to say was nice choice. there's a little bit of richness in there that would make me not want to wear it when temps go above like 85, but it seems great for march through june at least. a year rounder if you're within 3 miles of the ocean.
>>
>>12144746
err, sorry, the point of my digression with the naming was that 2 of their 3 fragrances are reformulations now that are completely different from most of the online reviews that exist for them, and that's just unnecessary baggage.

but their current lineup now is quite solid. a big name in perfumery anchoring number 1, 2 being a minor hit, and the candied tobacco they released as 3 is a crowd pleaser with a cult following.

i guess they could be doing worse.
>>
>>12124481

my thoughts: don't like it, don't know why.
>>
>>12144934
My main beef with CK One is its longevity and projection. I say give yourself a full spraying at a store and see how long it lasts / whether anyone else can smell you. If it meets your expectations then it's worth your money. Personally, I don't wear my bottle of CK One and only ever use it as a linen / bed spray.
>>
>>12144921
blackpepper, beyond the black pepper, is wonderwood with the edges sanded off.

25ml is the perfect bottle size imo. wish everything came in that size.
>>
tried bond no. 9's shelter island the other day, anticipating a beach scent.

immediately loved it... but then i realized why: it smells exactly like vaseline intensive care lotion. which i used as spank lube when i was a kid.

that's when i realized i didn't really like the smell so much as it was making me horny, the scent subconsciously was priming me for a spank session. which is fucking insane.

so, against my better judgement, i think there may be something to the meme that women are turned on to cucumber. or at least curious women who grew up with a well stocked vegetable drawer.

>>12142996

i know it's all about what's in the bottle, but i have trouble convincing myself to wear something like this (and a lot of other designer fragrances) when i don't wear clothes from their runway/exclusive lines. even if they smell amazing, seeing these bottles on my shelf would be a reminder that i'm as lame as someone unironically wearing a designer logo tee to be "fashionable."
>>
>>12145488
get yourself out of that mindset, like you said it's what's in the bottle that actually matters, the bottle and the brand means nothing
think of a designer brand's clothing and their fragrances as two completely seperate things because that's what they are
>>
>>12145488
Rest easy knowing that designer fragrances are cheap af and are literally made for normies... how else do you think these huge companies make money? If wearing something like Sauvage makes you feel like a fake, you need to reevaluate your life.

Rich people wear niche fragrances excluding Aventus

emblem is way better
also:

>When I was a student, on the “try everything once” principle I went spelunking with the university club, a truly miserable experience. I remember only two things: how good it was to see the damp grass and leaden sky of Yorkshire upon climbing out, and the wonderful smell of the old-fashioned acetylene lamps we carried that were strapped to our foreheads.

One of the great wonders of smell is that we can infer the composition of a molecule by smell alone. Acetylene has an unusual triple carbon-carbon bond and it—and all—derived compounds smell, well, acetylenic. In polite fragrance language, the smell is referred to as “violet leaf” so as not to offend sensibilities. Unfortunately, triple bonds are quite chemically reactive, and most have been banned or severely restricted by the ever-watchful authorities. Grey Flannel [1975] and the Original Fahrenheit [1988] made great use of the sharp, metallic tang of triple bonds.

It appears either that one of the violet leaf compounds has escaped regulation or that a perfumer has figured out a way to get the same effect without using them, because the violet-leaf note in Emblem is both intense and durable. This is a masculine fragrance, of course, and it comes in a beautiful black bottle that looks like the cap of a titanic fountain pen. On a guy, it would probably be a little too Porsche Design “black-is-the-new-black” for my taste. But it will work great on a woman, as a chaser for the nauseating meringues everyone else is doing, and to advertise an unrepentantly dry-eyed disposition.
>>
>>12145166
I can see how the lily-seaweed-oud combination smells like lotion. Give Shelter Island another shot in the future, maybe in warmer weather. It's one of those that evolves differently depending on temperature. I have a deeper appreciation for the more I wear it.

Some God-tier frags you got there anon. I was a one spray guy for years and then I started wondering why I hadn't gotten one single compliment, not that that's why one should wear fragrance, but still... Once I discovered the 2-5 (most 3-4) spray rule, it was a whole new world. The only one and done frag in my ever-growing wardrobe is Rive Gauche pH in the metal can.

sex: male
price range: $50~80
seasons/weather: year round
occasions: going out/casual
other frags/notes/accords you like: first time getting into cologne, but stuff like tobacco, amber, cardamom sound awesome.
personal style/aura you want to project: something that gives off a mature yet mysterious/witchlike/archaic vibe.

Sauvage is the meme you're looking for.
Also consider Chez Bond (100ml tester bottles are often under $95), Acqua di Gio Profumo, and Bleu de Chanel. All four are versatile and draw regular compliments / inquiries.
>>
new here, looking for either gender scents for the evening. Using Truth for men by CK and My Givenchy! along with a bunch of girly celebrity perfumes like Fantasy and Showtime at the moment. I don't like floral, overly citrus, powdery and "fresh" scents, prefer fruity/floral-fruity/oriental/gourmand. Price range <$200?
I work as a performer, so something mysterious, different and with VERY strong sillage would be preferred.
>>
Is Creed worth it's price ? I have the money right now but I always worn Sephora's perfumes ( Zadig & Voltaire and The One during the past years ) but I feel like for something used as fast as a perfume, its a bit expensive.

I've tried it already and had a lot of compliments but damn ~200 is pretty expensive, how long does it lasts you ?
>>
>>12147371
it lasts depending on how often you spray, just like any frag. if it's worth it is up to you.
>>
>>12143578
not sure about gentlemen only, but l'homme will probably only last around 3 hours each application if not less, just a heads up
>>
>>12146647
The notes you list tend toward cold weather scents, but you can always try wearing less when it's warm out:
Burberry London for Men
The One fM
360º Black fM
CK One Shock for Him
Avant Garde
>>
>>12147371
Creed is a house with 82 frags; you don't specify which one you're talking about. "Worth it" is an entirely personal view. And while the average atomizer puts out ~0.1ml per spray, I'd say Creed's put out close to double that per spray, so factor that in your calculations as to how long a bottle will last you, depending on your application.

What would you recommend for work (interacting with grills)
>>
>>12149064
If you just want to smell generically nice, try Sauvage or Bleu de Chanel

BdC smells much less synthetic to my nose, I would prefer it

Don't fall for the Terre d'Hermes or Encre Noire memes, women do not like them
>>
>>12149071
God they're expensive aren't they? I'm new to this, is BdC considered premium or entry level
>>
>>12149102
They're entry-level in the sense that they're extremely popular, but they are only a little above average for a designer frag

But really scent is one thing you really don't want to cheap out on. If you are going to project a smell, it had better be a good one.
>>
>>12149071
>>12149102
Seconding BdC. It's an entry level fragrance, but fits your needs perfectly, it isn't overplayed and will get you compliments.

And I don't think anyone would recommend TdH or EN for getting pussy, both are masterpieces designed to complement a certain style instead of pleasing the general populace.

I'm looking for something traditional but not too out of place on a young man. I dress preppily, if that matters.
>>

I've actually never tried it, but I have a feeling it would be a better fit. I can recommend trying Endymion, Invasion Barbare, Grey Vetiver. If on a budget, Allure Homme (or Homme Blanche) or YSL L'Homme. All traditional enough without being out of place on someone young.

Do you think the creed frags Aventus and GIT would have such insane hype/praise if they were priced the same as regular designer frags and under a house like say prada
>>
>>12149661
They would be the only thing anyone purchased / wore if they were priced at ~50 / bottle.
>>
>>12149661
Aventus at designer price would be insanely popular, so many dudes who care even remotely about scents would have a bottle. As for GIT, I'm not so sure. Fougeres aren't the crowd pleaser that Aventus is, in my opinion.

Male, 23
Price range:<400$
daily/year round/special occasions, don't really party or go out much, more for myself than anything
personal style: athletic, minimalistic, hiking and outdoors, dark features mediterranean/spanish appearance

Tried some popular fragrances and found myself not liking anything sweet,
floral, fruity, or powdery/musky. I like the idea of something that smells dark foresty and woody.
Would also probably like tobacco and leather smells.
Planning on getting a tobacco vanille sample and some oud samples i guess

don't like:
guerlain vetiver
ysl la nuit
thiery malt
Serge lutens Fille en aiquilles
caron yatagan

ok
terre dhermes
juniper ridge big sur
juniper ridge siskiyouix

like

any recommendations? thanks

>>
>>12149714
if you've already tried norne, be forewarned that that's probably the most evocative and purest distillation of wood you're going to find. it's what i expected from juniper ridge when i went looking for a forest in a bottle. my other favorites are:

cdg kyoto
cdg black (not play, not pepper)
cdg sugi
profumum arso
amouage memoir man
le labo santal 33

branching away from the forest:

tauer l'air du desert marocain
slumberhouse jeke is like a caramel smoked leather tobacco, weirdly meaty, seems impossible to wear but also addictive to smell.

dior's leather oud, also impossible to wear, but amazing

cuir mauresque and lonestar memories are also fairly evocative leathers.

in the more friendly leather category, tom ford's tuscan leather and margiela's across sands.

if you're trying tobacco vanille, try herod, eau des baux, and 1899 hemingway

oh, and if you want to grass in the rain, check out black march. maybe layer it with norne and see where it takes you.
