probably a bottle of odeur 53 next paycheck. might pick up that Heritage sample set Creed has up right now, as well.

i like 53 like 3 hours into the drydown, before that i find it on the wrong side of pleasant.

I could search up the differences people say, but what are your thoughts on 2 vs. 2 MAN?
>>
>>12151574
In general, I find the deeper level of complexity in 2 more interesting than MAN. 2 has that incredible ink note settled in with various spices, where MAN seems to stop at incense and woodier notes. For me, MAN just comes off as much more reserved than 2. Also, I tend to dress on the metrosexual side, so 2's feminine aspects suit me. MAN is fantastic, but 2 draws me in much more.
>>
>>12151585
2MAN is more masculine and smells less floral
i prefer 2 but MAN is nice if you prefer masculine scents over slightly feminine ones
also 2 has this metallic ink note that gives it a unique sharpness that MAN doesn't have

Besides the number of sprays that also depends on the size of the bottle and the intensity of the spray. I'd say a 50ml would last you around 3 months assuming you use 4 full sprays every single day.

looking for some recs guys.
male. let's say i have £100 to spend. looking for an everyday fragrance.
my dad wears chanel antaeus which i like, but i want something slightly more... exotic? that's probably not the right word. something woody and dark, but with something more to it.
i've been looking at CDG 2 and Kyoto, as well as Chanel Bleu. i haven't had the chance to smell any of these, but hopefully i'll get to soon. any of you have experience with these, and would you recommend them, or something else?

Thinking about buying 2 scents. One for fall/winter and one for the coming spring/summer. Any opinions on L'Occitane Eau Des Baux as a fall/winter and Versace Eros as a spring/summer scent?

These will be my first purchases, so I'm also wondering..does cologne ever expire? I know that I should keep them out of the sunlight, but is there anything else I should keep in mind?

What's a good fragrance for an 18 year old to elicit the "I want to bury my head in your chest and smell you" response in people? Preferably something on the cheaper side (all though I can spend a bit over $100 for sure) and is maybe not something most people would recognize
>>
>>12153082
eau des baux is a fine choice, burberry london is as well.

no opinion on eros.

if the cologne's in a spray bottle, and you keep it out of the sun and out of the heat, it'll last 20+ years. keep it in a drawer or cabinet and you have nothing to worry about.

So spring is coming up and looking for a compliment getter scent.

Sauvage
Dior Homme Sport

are the two I'm thinking of getting. Leaning on finally biting the bullet and blind buying Sauvage since apparently girls find it irresistible and stories of girls just randomly coming up to guys and complimenting them for wearing. And Dior Homme Sport because I'm a fan of the fragrance line and I sampled it at Macys and thought it was great.

Fragrances I own :
Acqua Di Gio Profumo- Sig scent (I like the bad boy vibe)
Tuscan Leather
Dior Homme Intense
Dior Homme Parfum
Tres Nuit Armaf
Armani Code Profumo
Divin Enfant
Lacoste White
Terra d Hermes Gentiane
>>

>Acqua Di Gio Profumo- Sig scent (I like the bad boy vibe)
kek, i ordered only a 5 ml vial sample being the jew, i'm not a fan of it to say the least, it went right into the toilet, where i'll be able to use it as an air freshener probably

fuck you Jeremy
>>
>>12154431
I love it and works great on my skin. It's the only scent I get complimented on by girls all the time. I hate to use the term "panty dropper" , but this really really works. (the other being Tres Nuit but I'm embarrassed by all the compliments because it's such a cheap fragrance).

Also I don't like jeremy and don't listen to him all the scents I own is from my own research and sampling.
>>
Is it just me or does Rose 31 by Le Labo along with VIW by Creed have the worst longevity of any aftershave?

Can anyone recommend me a nice spring summer scent along the lines of what I've just mentioned that actually last on your skin?

Would anyone rec Amouage Dia Man?

Price range isnt really an issue.

23/M

Thanks.

My friend had fuel for life and wore it on a night out drinking once. Hes quite a shy guy and got a couple of compliments from it, he was quite overwhelmed from that experience. Smelt nice and lasted a while, projection must have been okay too I guess... hence the compliments.

Only issue I have with it is that its widely available (In the UK anyway) and this puts me off because im a massive hipster and want to smell like a special snowflake. However, if you don't mind other people possibly having it on around you id go for it.
>>
>>12154504

I usually have to go to the bathroom at the 4 hour mark to puke a little and wash it off. I only wear it because I paid 300 bucks for the bottle.

So I've worn these 3-4 times now and for the first time an Aventus alternative has made me forget that I wasn't actually wearing Creed. PV Noir wears very similarly to Aventus, the only issue being that you need to double tap the sprayer to match the fire hose Creed nozzle. As long as similar amounts are applied, it's a great clone. Right up there with La Yuqawam as the only clone fragrance that I can recommend without reservation. If I ever run out of Aventus I honestly won't feel the need to replace the bottle as long as I can still buy Pineapple Vintage. Do I wish it were even cheaper than $1.05/ml? Of course, but it beats $2/ml or more for gray market Creed tester bottles.

I think people exaggerate how many compliments they get from scents. It's normal to only get one compliment per every couple of times you wear a fragrance

Any opinions on Tobacco Vanille? I see that some people love it and some people that simply reduce it to "a cigar + some vanilla extract."
>>
>>12162129
It's really fantastic. One of the best in the private blend line.

Incredibly deep, rich tobacco note with a kind of naturally sweet dried fruit note that some tobacco has.
Obviously, vanilla - sweet but not at all artificially so. Smells very natural.

Lasts for a freakishly long time and floats around you very nicely. I apply one spray to the back of my neck and sometimes even that feels like too much.

i couldn't figure this out for a long time. so i've been going through the notes on a few hundred fragrances i've tried and trying to pick out what notes or accords bother me. turns out? carnation. either by itself or the combination of carnation/vetiver, or carnation/rose, or carnation/tobacco, or carnation/geranium.

sharing for no reason in particular.

also? hate elemi.

also? almond, benzoin, heliotrope, and certain teas all have a similar smell or shape in them that ruins fragrances for me unless they're blended waaaaaaay in the background.

feel the same way about iris, orris root, and violet. in some perfumes they make me vaguely pukey, but i still have a lot of analysis to do before making blanket statements.

>>12161311
Absolutely not. CDNI is an excellent copy. Compared hand in hand there are some minor differences but i dont think that anybody walking by you could tell.
>>
>>12163331
How the fuck do you not get olfactory fatigue after the first 30 minutes or so?
>>
>>12163552
>minor differences
There is such a huge difference in quality that use positive reviews of CDNI as a test of a reviewer's tastes. If someone praises it as a good clone I know to automatically discount the rest of their opinions as well.

CDNI has a cheap, harsh lemon opening. It has zero pineapple. The two only smell similar from the sprayer and that's after drying. I find that most people who praise CDNI don't own Aventus themselves and most likely aren't doing a live A-B comparison. I own every clone and cousin of Aventus except for L'Aventure, and I have a hard time believing that anyone who owns bottles of both would ever subject themselves to the foulness that is the Armaf.
>>
>>12163552
CDNI is synthetic as fuck

No, you smell like cleaning products to other people like you who associate citrus smells with cleaning products.

There are a million different citrus fragrances and a million different cleaning products and there are companies who develop smells for both using the same molecules so there's bound to be some overlap.

People associate citrus with fresh and cleanliness, hence their use in cleaners.

>Either you dislike what i dislike or you're wrong.
You can discount what you like mate, I don't really care, that won't change the fact that you are deluding. CDNI doesn't have a lemon opening, there's a lemon note for sure, but it starts mainly with birch and smoke. To say that it's a harsh lemon opening you have to be senseless or you talking about Jardin Sur Le Nil. Second thing is that the fact that CDNI doesn't have pineapple doesn't mean shit really (that's the part where I realized you don't really know what you are talking about) because good clone isn't a fragrance that mindlessly copies every note in same proportions, because that still could be a shit fragrance, if you for example don't know what was the maceration time of the particular notes in original. A good clone is a fragrance that evokes smell and the feeling of the original. How may times you thought a perfume contained some particular note but it didn't? You could achieve more or less same feeling using different notes, and that's exactly what CDNI does. It just isn't a mindless copy, it's a reinterpretation of the OG, and hell of a good one. The idea behind Aventus is that you have a plate of fresh juicy fruits with birch syrup in a smokey room (my take on it at least). And that's what Armaf recreated and it did well. To be more precise: Armaf starts up as a bolder and smokier fragrance. Aventus is more fruity, but even different batches of it were either more smokey ore more fruity so it's not like it's a big deal. If it comes to the most important part - the drydown, they are really similar. And if you use fragrances to wear them, not contemplate them, and you wanna save a buck, CDNI is a way to go. There's one bigger difference later on as it doesn't evolve as Aventus does, but again - it's not a big deal. It's a casual/clubbing fragrance after all. If it's a huge difference to you that's ok, but imo you are just trying to have some edgy opinions.
>>
>>12163331
You could rub it to fast forward to the base notes, or at least the middle notes. I'd wait until I found something I liked all the way through, though. Lots of fragrances have nice base notes, some of them are bound to have good top notes too.

Can anyone please rec a scent or two, based on the following?

>27
>male
>single
>'artsy,' love music / reading / photography
>like being out in nature
>like nature-inspired scents (woodsy, earthy, etc) but also stuff that has a fresh vibe to it, maybe a mix of the two
>don't want anything overpowering, wouldn't match my personality, but do want something that projects well enough for others to smell and maybe compliment
>it's Winter now, so maybe something that goes well for the season but also for Spring since that'll be approaching quickly
>max I'd pay is $50

Does anything fit the bill of that? I've read things suggesting you get scents that match your personality. Since I'm more quiet and inwardly focused, I'm wondering what would match that.

Of the private blends it's one that personally doesn't do much for me.

But, that's what I love so much about fragrance - it's so individual and if you love something then trust your nose and wear it. It's definitely quality, but whether or not it's worth the money is up to you.
>>
>>12167227
Didn't think much of it on the strip (black orchid and plum japonais impressed me more that day), but I should go back and test on skin. I'd love a coffee rose, but that didn't seem to give me enough of either. I basically want Tuscan leather with the leather and raspberry replaced with those two instead.
>>
Looking for some recommendations.19 male with an ~80 dollar price range looking for an everyday fragrance to wear to school. I don't have a lot of experience with fragrances so I don't have any likes or dislikes when it comes to specific scents. I'd mostly be wearing this during the winter and early spring. I'm not trying to project any specific style or aura I'm just interested in smelling better but I'd prefer something relatively light I wouldn't want the whole room smelling me when I walk in.
>>
>>12168400

I tried a sample of CB Tea/Rose and it smelled really really nice. Unfortunately it also has very poor performance because his stuff is water based.

Looking for minty, fresh and inviting scents for spring time. Weather here in B.C. starts to be quite rainy on some days and quite hot on others in the spring.
I am first year college aged, go on dates usually rather than clubbing and would like something to get that can't stop smelling you effect, any average joe compliment getter with mint.

Currently have some cheap end frags like Sauvage, Guess Man, and D&G Light Blue.

A classic fragrance, and an easily wearable scent. Dior Homme is similar to Dior Homme Parfum in that the lipstick/makeup bag vibe is definitely present, as well as a heavy Iris note. Dior Homme, much like Sauvage, can be worn in any occasion and just about all seasons. Great date fragrance also.
>Dior Homme Parfum

Hermes is usually good for professional situations. If they recognise it by name, it might have some subtle priming effect due to the popularity of hermes ties with upper management.

Basically you want citrus, which implies cleanliness and freshness, and not too much else. Grass or wood rather than musk or leather. Eau de toilette rather than eau de parfum, they should smell it within handshake distance but not be consciously aware of it from the other side of a desk.

Okay thanks, if I told you my interview panel was 2 women would that change your suggestions?
>>
Just ordered a bunch of samples, two of which were Eau Sauvage and Light Blue pH. Anybody notice similarities between eau sauvage and old spice aftershave? Also light blue smells insanely typical, there's a note in there that I think I've smelt in most designer frags...

Check out some Serge Lutens stuff

>falling for the eau meme

Sauvage 2015 wins every time

Opinions on Dior Homme Cologne?
>>
Just fuck my shit up senpai
>CK Free
>Burberry Brit
>Polo Sport

All gifts, never really bothered with scents before. I don't really like "musk" or anything stereotypically male. I do kind of prefer floral / herbal / citrus scents.
>>
>>12182085
Brit gets some attention, others are not even mentioned in frag com from what I've seen
>>
>>12181692
are you fucking retarded? do NOT wear any fragrance to a job interview
>>
>>12182053
Just okay
Performance is lacking in comparison to the rest of the Dior Homme line imo.
>>
>>12181692
Two women? Buy some aventus bro!!!! Drop them healthcare pantiessssss!!!!
>>
Has anyone ever used perfumista.co.uk for samples? I feel like when my scents arrive they dont smell exactly how they should & last a fraction of the time they're supposed too.
>>
>>12181692
Women are more accepting of stronger fragrances, while men see them as challenges, kind of like wearing brighter colours than them.

Healthcare auditing is not particularly cutthroat or sexy, so go safe, clean, classic, and discreet.
Citruses, woods, and leafy smells, nothing too musky or sexy.

This is an ignorant attitude from someone who doesn't know that male fragrances have their roots in hygiene. Men started taking baths, then started adding scents to the baths, leading eventually to body splashes and aftershaves, and finally to modern fragrances.

So in other words, a simple citrus fragrance is absolutely appropriate, and in keeping with the tradition of male hygiene. You may as well tell him not to wash his face.

Memoir man?
I was personally leaning towards using this one.
>>
>>12181342
One on neck and one on chest. You dont want to be 'that cologne guy'. Less is always more
>>
>>12182543
you are fucking stupid, fragrances generally aren't appreciate in the workplace. why would you wear one to a an interview? shut the fuck up.
>>
>>12183001
Id rather smell nice than smell like generic fabric / wardrobe.

Frags in an interview are fine as long as they're minimal/subtle. Plus they give the wearer a confidence boost, which always helps.
>>
>>12183001
I doubt your co-workers could smell a fragrance over the odour of fast food and/or sawdust.

>>12183120
Yep. Subtle and clean.
>>
>>12161631
This stuff has been working very well for me.
>>
>>12163562
Avoid application in proximity to nose, i.e. face and front of neck.
>>
>>12183168
>>12183120
you dont have the job yet you retard. why would you jeopardize your chances by wearing cologne when the person who might be interviewing it might be sensitive or have a strict rule against it? shut the fuck up.
>>
>>12183307
This guy's rude, but it's the right advice for an interview. An aftershave or cologne splash is fine if it's part of your morning routine, as long as it's at least a couple hours before the interview and only a skin scent by then. While your fragrance might be inoffensive or even pleasant, it won't get you the job; it may actually come off as desperate, or an example of poor decision making. As far as physical appearance, just be clean, well dressed in tailored clothes that fit, and well groomed. Save the fragrances until you have the job. And invest in some work fragrances for christ's sake.

>>12180232
If you have to use anything, one spray of neroli or terre on your right wrist will greet them when you shake hands. Spray at least an hour before the interview. Personally, I'd spray at least two hours before.

So there's a bunch of essential oils online that cost a shit load (like $35 for 15ml)

But then there's this that doesn't cost a lot and comes with a lot of selection https://www.amazon.ca/Art-Naturals-Top-Essential-Oils/dp/B01161IL20/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1485460590&sr=8-1&keywords=essential+oils#Ask

Would these work for DIY cologne? If not, why not?

thanks in advance.

>spends thousands of dollars on cologne
>doesn't like being known as the cologne guy
Sad life, anon
>>
>>12183860
Nothing sad about buying fragrances for your own enjoyment.
>>
>>12182106
Oh, the reason I mentioned those scent preferences is because I was hoping for recc's, forgot to actually write that though. Brit is okay but I dislike the other two.

It was an internal vacancy so I kind of knew the interviewers.

You're attitude is lovely though, I bet you're great at kids parties.

>>12183556
Cheers, I went for 1 spray of Memoir man though. I get really light/herbal notes from it and I think the interview went very well.
>>
>>12184409
so you're the employee watching the security video of the guy jerking off while you jerk off?
>>

Nice to hear. I like Memoir a lot. Good luck!
