You have to eat. There's no secret to gaining weight, other than eating more. I don't like eating in crowded places either, but you have to force yourself to do it.

Push-ups and planks are a great start for exercising. Look up more calisthenics if you don't want to get a gym membership.

For gaining muscle, it's all about working out while providing your body with enough protein to repair your muscles. So yeah, eat enough protein and make sure you feed yourself enough carbs so you won't have to use the protein as fuel. Also don't fast for too long. After a certain amount of time fasting, your body will break down muscle tissue. Gaining muscle is a better way of gaining weight than gaining fat. Muscle is alot heavier, and obviously looks alot better than more fat.

First advice would be eat more. And count the calories - skinny people usually overestimate their daily intake, and fat fucks underestimate. Don't be afraid of fats in food, they are filling, give you a lot of energy through a day and make you feel nice.

If you want a quick solution - make yourself a shake or two through the day, between the meals. I throw: cottage cheese, half of yoghurt, 7 spoons of oats, 2 spoons of peanut butter, spoon of honey, sometimes a banana or some frozen fruit, plus fill it up to the brim with milk (an actual milk with fat in it), then blend that shit together. That's an easy way for nearly 1000 kcal, and if you skip the oats you won't even feel that. With oats it's really filling, so it gets me through the day if I can't find the time to eat at the moment

I had to do extra credit for spanish and that was there. Plus my mom is costa rican and was telling me about how good it was, so I tried it.

Funny enough since starting uni with the opportunity to try counting and stuff I've been isolated a bit because I don't wanna go to a restaurant with my roommates because of how high calorie the options are. Plus my dining hall tells you the calories in everything or I can easily google the calories in the stuff if they don't say it.

It's less about worrying about this individual meeting with your mother and more about your proving to her that you don't have an eating disorder/ aren't depressed. She's your mom and just worried that you aren't feeling well.

I am kind of obsessed with getting my numbers up when it comes to lifting. I think where some people are obsessed with the number on the scale/tape measure, I'm obsessed with my lifts. I think I've mentioned that a couple times in past threads... Basically, my bench press is only a couple of lbs under the US junior national champion power lifter in my weight class.

Once I hit that number, I might start easing off lifting. I don't compete because too shy (and also my squat is only okay and my deadlift is like 1/2 of the national champ).

I have been in a similar situation, and I have been gaining weight very fast. I make very easy and fast meals that are rich for protein.

For breakfast I eat oats with cold milk, peanut butter and maybe a banana, for lunch I eat a pan fried chicken breast with spinach/green beans/peas and for dinner I eat eggs and toasts with tuna and cheese. I also drink 1-2 glasses of milk after workout.

For exercise, people already have recommended you the pushups, but your arm twigs are probably too weak for them. Look up how to do inclined pushups first. I went from 6'2 127 pounds at 6'2" to 138 pounds in around 2 months.

Also, look up GOMAD if you really can't force yourself to eat.

I normally only run 1 to 1.5 miles (1.6 to 2.4k) at the gym on the treadmill every few days after the rest of my workout. My shins are usually on fire by 3/4 of a mile even though I stretch, got new running shoes, and wear calf sleeves. Last night I decided to run outside for the first time in years. Went only 2.5 miles, and everything was fine until a few hours after I got home. I tried going to the gym afterwards and doing squats, but it got really tight at the bottom of my squat (ATG) on my warmup set, so I just did upper body and left. My knee is suddenly really swollen, hard to extend, and not holding my weight well.

I have a very similar problem, though I usually manage to guilt myself into eating. I've found soup and juice the easiest way to get calories down when I'm not feeling it. Stay away from processed stuff, that just makes it worse. Also just moving around, stretching and light exercise can help you feel better and be hungry usually. I've found if I lay down all day I'll never get hungry but the second I start moving around I'll start feeling it.
