funnily enough I was thinking how these translates have improved my English more than anything (of course it has just generally familiarized me more with casual talk and grammar structure, I'd already read a couple grammar dictionaries before starting so I haven't seen too much new stuff in the way of that); so for me there's understanding the meaning behind what they're saying which is often fine, and then there's capturing this meaning in english without making it sound completely stupid. I think that's often tricky but in order to not make these translates sound really dumb (I hope) I end up spending a while thinking about english phrasings. I think these help alot in learning the way the 2 languages "think"

at worst my /d/ based vocab knowledge has skyrocketed in any case

I'm not sure I like this new version:
- You no longer start with eating a cookie and shrinking, you are tiny from the very beginning, because Yuka, the leader of the Reduction Research Department shrunk you.
- This also means you cannot switch from small to big anymore. You'll be small all the time.
- No longer you must obtain pieces to unlock the lab door. You can go straight to Chiharu and easily beat the game in less than 10 minutes.
- Plenty more CGs, but don't expect top quality for a lot of them.
- More scenes, but some lack CGs so yeah, not appealing. The majority are reused from the previous game btw, but due to the fact that all the scenes are disconnected from each other since the pieces are no longer needed.
- The plot with Chiharu in the previous version was better. Conveniently wiping her memory so she turns murderous is bad, and I rather preferred how it worked before.

How to say, I don't like these changes in how the story advances. Before, it felt like a game, and honestly, I liked it, you progressed normally and it helped up build the GTS moments. Now, all of this has been cut so you can access all GTS moments without caring about the story at all, which would be fine if the GTS content was good. But since it's okay at best, mediocre at worst, this didn't help the game at all honestly.

Agreed - and that's exactly what Yilx tries to do. I'm just pointing out his modus operandi. It's evident from his early pictures that he's always had a fetish for GT, but as his quality ramped up he's felt obligated to keep it soft and atmospheric to try and keep a wide audience instead of limiting himself to GT folk. Don't necessarily gotta diversify them all, but most artists tend to be afraid to leave their comfort zone once they've found it. If it gets the views and likes, why take the risk of trying something you've always wanted to?

Ochiko for example draws a ton of different stuff because he makes a living off of GTS art, it would make sense that he needs the widest fanbase possible to ensure the most financial stability.
