Another thing that I miss recently is the way slaves used to react to getting tattooed all over. I find that sort of thing hot and the reaction really cemented it. Now the tattoo just happens without any real effect and it just feels like some irrelevant stat in their stat block.
There was also one thing that gave me trouble that I believe is awkwardly coded. This was in version 3.7.1, not in this one. I noticed that the custom tattoo got removed every time I went into the body mod studio screen. The string got emptied actually, but it was still there, there was still a blank custom tattoo that I could remove. The same problem was not present in the custom descriptors page, so I just used that. But still, I lost a few custom tattoo descriptions and I had to redo them afterwards because of this.
Another thing I'm unsure of is the thing about removing surgery options where there is no practical impact of them. Now, I didn't test this, but is it still possible to make a slave that's already naturally beautiful and completely rework her face? Because I found that hot for the "she doesn't recognize herself" angle, I didn't really care about the beauty stat that much.

I once had a plan to make a /d/-game where you play a helpless heroine who is constantly in trouble.
Attached is a graph of situations I had planned. The idea is that there is only one large city with an outer “poor” and an inner “rich” city. You could, at the beginning, put points into magic/cursed equipment, abilities, appearance, and how fucked you start, CYOA-style. You then begin the game roaming around trying to get by without getting raped/captured too often, but it would always eventually happen, because that’s the meat of the game.
Hope this can serve as inspiration to someone.

Assault entails combat, defeat entails rape, and failure to fight back during/after the rape has a probability of capture. Capturing is what happens when she is moved from one place to another against her will.
Often, capturing would also entail cursed equipment being placed on her. Lewdly cursed. For example, if she is "bought by a rich person" to become a slave in the inner city, she could find herself in a slave collar that keeps her from resisting rape by her master and tells her master where she is at all times. Removing the items would require randomly generated little quests.

Maybe the slave schools would pay a "finder's fee" for unrolling someone born from a slave with desirable traits (naturally beautiful, big tits, etc.). They're obviously for-profit (naturally) so it makes sense they'd want to incentivize people to enroll good product with them instead of the competition. I don't want to be another dude going "pls pander to my fetishes," but you've already gone through the trouble of making it so you can breed slaves together and the fluff mentions in a few places that slaves are used as breeding stock, so it might be worth incorporating that into the mechanics if it's not going to be a bitch to implement.
Well, there are some desirable traits that could make breeding viable, at least in a niche sense. Possibly a predisposition to submissiveness, which would be fairly lucrative, since you're no longer having to waste time breaking in a slave.

For that matter, a few weeks of whoring will earn as much as the total net weekly income of an entire oligarchic city state.
A slave school will spend 18 years feeding and clothing a slave while training it. If your own expenses are any indication, keeping a person alive for just a week costs a hundred Dystopia Bux at bare minimum. That's nearly 900,000 ¤ for the slave's whole education, yet they're being sold at like 10,000 ¤ a pop (the equivalent of a few months of whoring).
Building a sensible economic system has long since taken a back seat to eroticism.

I have 14 slaves in my current game. By stopping all drugs (Except contraceptives, which seem to have no effect on upkeep) I have gotten slave-cost down to 700 dystopiabux, implying the minimum cost to keep someone alive is 50 dystopiabux.
There are 938.5 weeks in 18 years, so rounding up to 940 we get a cost of 47,000 dystopiabux or DBs per 18 year old. Though, we also have evidence of drugging taking place from age... 14? 16? I forget the exact number. We'll go with 14 because I like lolis being sexualized.
1 set of implants costs 200ish bux in the surgery, so we can add 600 bux to the final cost if we assume 3 implants. Putting someone on drugs for breast growth is 100 bux a week, so add that on there from age 14 onwards, giving us a rough estimate in the idea of...
Oh whoops, I shifted the decimal place over by one when reporting my estimation. I meant to say ¤90,000, which is still pretty bad. I also wasn't taking into account drugs, surgeries, or amenities, which would obviously increase the expense.
The base upkeep for a slave ranges from ¤50 to ¤150 based on the economy you choose. I went with the "doubtful" economy value because that seems to be the default.

Are thieves in Defiler Wings bugged? I have normal guards, elite guards, traps, venomous creatures, and myself guarding my hoard, but the only thing that actually works is myself, and even then only 2/3rds of the time.
I've had more than a dozen thieves go after me, but literally none have been stopped by my preparations.

All of the starting lairs come with 0 accessibility, except for Bronze head dragons, who start in the Burrow, which has 1 accessibility. All of the nonstandard ones that you can claim from the places menu have at least 1 accessibility, with the Fortress, Castle, Forest Heart, Cloud Castle, and Dwarven Palace all having 2 accessibility.
Fortifications from the gremlins increase your accessibility to the next tier, capping it at 3 if you upgrade one of the lairs that naturally have 2.
Most thieves will be stopped cold by a acc 2 lair, and almost none will be able to get into an acc 3 lair.

I just like treating some slaves like princesses (mostly slave school ones) and contrasting that with the horrible things that happen to the criminal ones and similar. Right now the only options for that is rest. Fucktoy fits if you squint really hard, but it's not really the same thing.

It's useful if you don't have money to waste on curatives or if you want to keep an unhealthy slave on something that might worsen their health like inexperienced whoring or breast injections or something.
Is it my imagination or has just about every single old project been but on an indefinite hiatus? I was looking through my /d/ games folder and I could track how frequently many were updated by the date I downloaded them. But recently I haven't downloaded an update for pretty much any of them in half a year. The Free cities game is the only thing being updated.

I think this is a common misapprehension that is prevalent in video game desing and the industry. Devs fear that players will be overwhelmed or confused by "too many" options so they simplify, condense, combine and remove features in the pursuit of "user friendliness".
Really the only problem with shit tons of options and features is how they are introduced. If a new player started up Free Cities v5.6.01 and the first screen contained 50 links and toggle options with little explanation or context then yes they would be turned off. But if on the first screen there is 5 options to pick and choose from and then as the game progresses more and more options were slowly introduced when necessary or relevant, then the player would be able to keep up.
I think players in general want options. They want tons of customisation and options to toggle. But you need to give these to the player in a controlled manner. Hopefully at a pace that doesn't overwhelm them.

Confine or Harsh Breaking should never be done more than a single week per slave, two times will invariably fuck up all but the most mentally sound of slaves (which psychotic former slaves who tend to have the "odd" trait and try to raid a slaveholder's home by themselves most certainly are not)

On a further note, this is also how I do the make money quests too, you can generally make 2 or 3 high quality pieces out of one high quality gem mine raid, sell for 10,000ish normally. Make sure to sell at city jewler
high quality mithril / adamatine crown with large black/rose diamond, inset with black/rose diamonds, and decorated with black/rose diamonds easily jump in the 50-60k range, and she never asks that much.
This quest is seriously easy once you know what to craft. Just need to farm dwarves and mountain mines in general.

I've had a lot of fun with FC, but usually I just play it for a couple hours every few weeks to see what new surface-level features you've added, and then I get bored because I tend to just create clones of the same slave over and over again. To keep me interested beyond one sitting, I think FC needs some more solid goals, like maybe "quests" where you have to create slaves that meet certain specifications. The idea being to encourage the player to actually do everything possible in FC. Also, I find having more than about 6 slaves to be a bit tedious and overwhelming. Maybe a good head girl should be able to at least keep slaves from in any way deteriorating so that I can feel secure in just ignoring slaves when I want.
