There are actually many possible reasons that can cause asexuality. For some people it's emotional, for others it's physical, and sometimes it's like you said, a hormone imbalance.
I'm not sure where exactly I lie. I guess a combination of the three reasons I mentioned. Sex never really felt that great to me physically, and after my teenage years my sex drive dropped like a rock. I think there's also a part of me that associates sex with my bitch ex-gf, so emotionally I have a reason to get away from it.
Honestly it's pretty nice. I'm no longer tempted to waste time masturbating or trying to get laid.

The writers have no idea what to do with Todd. They didn't really from the beginning, but now it's like they've lost even that.
