Off hand, based on his design alone, no, because he seems like a Shonen protagonist in personality and that's unappealing to me. The vibe he gives off is sort of 'kid boss', not protagonist.

He doesn't look like a protagonist, he looks like one of the Big Bad's wacky generals. Like, I honestly expect him to be commanding some kind of evil legion where the big surprise is that the leader of the well-armed, well-trained, tactically-competent enemy force is actually just some kid who happens to be really smart and has read a lot of history and war books.

Looks a bit preppy for a protag. Which would be unusual, so that's a bit interesting, but his style gives me the impression not of someone who struggles and fights, but someone who takes great care to keep up his apperance and status. Like someone in an official & public position of power.

In any case, the haircut and style also clashes a bit with what looks to be a 12-14 year old child.
