So, if there are only 52 universes, and about half of them were identified in Multiversity, does that mean there's only a very limited number of Elseworlds stories they can come up with? What happens when there are no unkown universes left?
>>
>>94753092
There are Infinite Multiverses, I think something like that is mentioned at the end of Convergence.
>>
>>94753164
But the map and that Metal comic say that there are only 52, the comic even stresses there's nothing more?
>>
>>94753092

There's multiple multiverses, like bubbles in a champagne glass according to Morrison. For example, the main comic multiverse, the CW multiverse, the movie multiverse, the Injustice multiverse, etc.
>>
>>94753194
The Metal comic also states there are other multiverses.

Only 52 Universes but infinite number of Multiverses, as one anon said before each one inside its own bubble floating close each other but with no actual contact between them, maybe at least until Metal.

The logo on Diana's tiara reminded me of the symbol of Ishtar (the Mesopotamian goddess of love, and war) and a prayer associated to her:

"You are the luminary of heaven and earth, the valiant daughter of Sin (god of the Moon) /
Who brandishes weapons, who prepares for battle, /
Who gathers to herself all rites, who dons the lordly tiara. /

He's the exact kind of guy who'd bitch that Sinestro now has his own Lantern Corps then immediately turn around and join the Sinestro Corps because "it's cool."

>>94753092
The possibility of running out of universes isn't really a concern, because no one seems to be interested in using the Multiverse as anything other than cannon fodder for shock deaths.

First Countdown killed Earth-15. But that's whatever. Countdown sucks anyway, so you wouldn't expect any better from it.

But then Geoff Johns killed Earth-3 in Forever Evil. I know there are a lot of anons here who hate Johns, but I would still expect him to know better than to waste perfectly good characters like that.

And then the Earth 2 ongoing series went completely off the rails. They just started killing characters left and right. It almost felt life there was some kind of quota where each new writer who came onto the book had to kill more characters than the last writer. They actually killed the entire planet TWICE.

Even Morrison himself isn't exempt from this. He killed the Superman equivalents of Earth-36 and Earth-45 in his Action Comics run. In Multiversity, he killed everybody on Earth-7, killed the entire main team of Earth-40, and retconned the inhabitants of Earth-42 into being mindless robot servants of the villain, effectively ending any future story potential any of those universes might have had.

Then Tomasi writes a story in his Superman run where he introduces the main team of Earth-14 and then immediately kills them off. Oh, and he also kills the Flash of Earth-36, because apparently their Superman being dead wasn't bad enough.

The multiverse will never be able to grow if writers keep treating it as disposable.
>>
>>94759704
Yeah that's what kind of bugs me about this. I think it's because the stakes have gotten to the point where they need character deaths just to make the story important.

>First Countdown killed Earth-15. But that's whatever. Countdown sucks anyway, so you wouldn't expect any better from it.

The worst from there was Countdown Arena. That was a lot of wasted potential caused by the need to have characters killed off.

On the bright side, most of the characters killed off were variations created by the person killing them off as part of a plot device. The only exceptions were people who came after Robinson on Earth 2, maybe Morrison's retcon of Earth-42, and Tomas killing off Flash of Earth-36. Which is more than I can say for Spider-Verse.
>>
>>94759704
And Metal Snyder is likely going to have a multiverse of characters that he introduces and kills. What with most of them being villains.

OP's post is a map of the current DC Multiverse from Grant Morrison's Multiversity.
>>

Speaking of Metal as a side thing that makes 8 multiverses so far?
1) 52 Multiverse
2) Destroyed Multiverse 2
3) The Pre-Crisis multiverse that branched off (1) in Convergence
4) The Dark Multiverse
5) The KFC Multiverse
6) Hanna Barbera Imprint was shown to have a Multiverse and even did the comics in one are in another universe thing.
7) Multiverse for Vertigo Imprint I guess since their other imprint got one and a lot of Vertigo comics don't exist with each other or DC.
8) Non-comic media Multiverse

Is there any stuff I am forgetting?

Any multiverse seperate from the 52/dark can't be accessed by rebirth/nu52 characters.

Keep in mind they ignoring the infinte multiverse suggestion .
>>
>>94753092
The seven monitor magi can be reset to make more.

Convergence stated old earths became the new earths. So old pre crisis Earth 3 is Johns Earth 3 reborn.
>>
>>94761650
>Convergence stated old earths became the new earths
That's not what happened. If that was what happened there'd be infinite Earths like before the Crisis not just 52. Also the results of Convergence happened by stopping the Anti-Monitor and Crisis which still happened in the main universe. Convergence did time travel and created a branching off so all the infinite universes still exist out there in a separate split off multiverse with the stories continuing to evolve and go on from where they were last seen.
>>
>>94761861
The pages show it did. And dialouge. Your head cannon doesn't override it. The suggestion where it's infinite is abandoned and came up during when the books was over. Metal shows that's all there is.

That magician also scanned the Earth 2 heroes as the real deals reborn.

Going back in time means the universe was never destroyed and is the way it should be as it is now.

I only give a fuck about facts not some tools fan-fiction.
>>
>>94759913
>I think it's because the stakes have gotten to the point where they need character deaths just to make the story important.

I think it's because all DC writers secretly want to kill DC's major characters. It's like some kind of forbidden fruit thing where they know they'll never get to do it for real, but that just makes them want to do it even more.

So as soon as they get their hands on an alternate universe book, the first thing they do is kill Superman, kill Batman, kill Wonder Woman, etc.
>>
>>94751882

>>
>>94762117

It doesn't "fit in". If anything, the multiverse we know floats in a giant, dark ocean and that is the 'dark multiverse'.

It was described as similar to the way the ordinary matter and energy we can detect with all our science is only a very small percentage of all that exists - and the bits we can't see are known as 'dark matter', which is undetectible by any means we possess, except that it seems to affect the visible universe, and 'dark energy'.

Just so, the Multiverse is only a small part of what exists, and the dark part of the Multiverse is a scary, chaotic, incomprehensible place.
