Earth-9 is based on the TANGENT COMICS series of one shots from 1998. There, it was revealed that World War 2 had never ended on Earth-X, continuing into decade after decade.

Since then, other worlds based on the same concept have appeared, such as the one from Jeph Loeb's story WITH A VENGEANCE in 2005.

Earth-12 is based the DC Animated Universe series of cartoons created by Bruce Timm, Paul Dini, and others, beginning with BATMAN: THE ANIMED SERIES in 1992. The first comic book appearance of Earth-12 would be BATMAN ADVENTURES, which debuted in that same year.

Earth-39 is based on the T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents characters, originally published by Tower Comics. At the time the multiverse map was being planned, DC held the license on the T.H.U.N.D.E.R. However, due to lackluster sales, DC did not renew the licensing agreement, so the multiverse guidebook used analogues of the characters instead.

They actually were going to make Miller's Dark Knight Earth one of the Multiversity worlds but they switched it out for the Pirate world.

Also the biggest tell for that image being fake is it included the Fixer, whom Miller owns outright (since Holy Terror was originally supposed to be a Batman project, he had a long talk with Levitz about whether it would really be Batman, so he was given the opportunity to take it back and just modify the character enough to make it his own).

I've met Shaggy from Scooby Doo, Huey Freeman from Boondocks, Leonard from TBBT, Negasonic Teenage Warhead from Deadpool (2017), and an actual Skrull.

I heard Jill Thompson (one of the original Wondie artists) based a character off herself recently. I know she worked on The Invisibles, but I hope she knows what she's in for.

Yeah but they haven't confirmed or denied it, have they? I mean the easiest thing to assume about the Red Rain Earth is that Ultraman is somehow there and that he had been turned into a vampire during Final Crisis.

Actually come to think of it, how is Batman still "alive" on Earth-43, he seemed to meet a final end in Crimson Mist. Unless he got resurrected similar to how Dracula got resurrected at the end of Dracula vs Zorro?
>>
>>93901460
>Is he so powerful because he's from the real world or some shit?
No, that's just why he's crazy the way he is.
He's powerful because he's a remnant of the Silver Age, where Superman, and to the same extent Superboy, was insanely strong.
Combine that with the facts that he doesn't have a Kryptonite weakness and that Red Sun radiation is the only thing that seems to have an effect on him, and he's pretty tough to beat.
The Supermen of Earth 1 and 2 had to run his ass through Rao itself to bring him down to a reasonable level.

His biggest weakness is really his fear of Speedsters after most of them dragged him into the Speedforce. I guess it sucks if you can't go fast.
>>
>>93909610
Look at it this way.
Their Superman died fighting a Doomsday, and their Speedster gave his life protecting the Multiverse.
They'll be back, even if not the next time we see E-36.

>Actually come to think of it, how is Batman still "alive" on Earth-43, he seemed to meet a final end in Crimson Mist.

Keep in mind that while many of these earths are loosely based on 90's Elseworlds and other stories, their connection to those stories is more thematic than canonical and nothing about the prior history of those earths should be assumed based solely on the stories they were inspired by.

Many Elseworld stories were designed to have conclusive endings, but all the worlds of the multiverse are designed to be continuous and ongoing, like the regular DC Universe is.

So Earth-43 was created to be a "Vampire Batman" world that's sorta-kinda like the BATMAN & DRACULA trilogy, but it is not intended to specifically be that exact world where those stories happened in the same way they were originally written.

>Earth Just

Nope, because the clear implication in ASS is that DC One Million is it's future whereas Chris Kent here is the Chris Kent from New Krypton and Damian is the self-same Damian, whereas he doesn't exist in either the DC One Million universe nor in ASS (or All Star Batman and Robin, if you want to say that those two series are in the same universe).

Most of those characters have analogues on both Earth-8 and Earth-7.

The Earth-8 versions are meant to represent the classic versions of those characters. They have names like American Crusader, Wundajin, and Frank Future.

Their Earth-7 equivalents, Crusader, Thunderer, and Doc Future, are meant to represent "grittier" reboots of those same characters.

Ultimately, Earth-7's grittiness proved to be it's undoing, as it made their universe a particularly attractive target for the Empty Hand and his Gentry.

Does anyone have any ideas whom the woman with the clear Joker look (white make-up like facial features, green hair) is supposed to be in their Justice League? I'm mean, she's not a female Red Hood, or female Jokester, is she? If there weren't already a GL variant, I might have thought - OK, that....
>>
>>93913659
That's Bianca Steeplechase/Blanche Gregory, the Earth-37 version of the Joker. If the Earth-37 version is anything like the original BATMAN: THRILLKILLER version she's based on, then she isn't a good person and certainly isn't an ally of the other people in that illustration, one of whom she murdered in the original story.

Not all of the illustrations in the Multiversity Guidebook are meant to represent a cohesive team. Some of them are just samplings of random individuals who live in that universe.

Also, there is no Green Lantern variant in the picture for Earth-37. If you're talking about the character wearing the green shirt, that's the version of Star Hawkins who appeared in the 1990 comic book TWILIGHT. Twilight was a dark and gritty reimagining of DC's forgotten science fiction characters, including Tommy Tomorrow, who is also pictured in the illustration for Earth-37.

Robinson wanted it to be initially but editorial wanted him to do a modern take on it.
>>
>>93912136
Actually, he's correct.

The Chris Kent in The Just is not Lor-Zod (he had brown hair, remember). It is Superman Secondus, the clone of Superman created by Doctor Leo Quantum at the end of the All-Star Superman story. Superman Secondus would go on to found the Superman Dynasty, paving the way for the events of DC One Million.

The only reason why Damian Wayne wasn't in DC One Million is because that story was written before he was created.

Basically, DC got tied of having to come up with increasingly contrived explanations for how a team of World War 2 veterans can still be active today, so they wanted to create new origin stories for the same characters that weren't tied to any specific historical events.

They went a little bit overboard though, and ended up changing a lot of random other stuff too. That's part of the reason why interest in the series fizzled out.

Countdown Arena also places a Chris Kent on Earth 16. I still don't think THIS Earth 16 is the future of the ASS (in large part because why would Grant place All Star on Earth 16? If anything, especially given Rebirth, it would need to be the future of Earth 0); the robots were not put in place by Clark before he goes to the sun, etc., etc., there's just too much extraneous detail (Lex having a daughter, versus his niece 'Nasty'), and Chris states his father is dead, versus in the Sun.

Clearly, the Prime Superman in All Star Superman, the one who delivers the rose for Jonathan, is also the Superman of All Star Superman; and he's as clearly the DC One Million Superman.

I'm not wanting to be argumentative, I'm just not seeing anything where Grant actually states what you both are claiming - you want to point me to something to edify my mistake, if it is one?

And if you read the issue of Superman/Batman where DC One Million was addressed again, we do indeed see Superman Secondus fighting alongside the Batman of Bethlehem.

And now considering the current flow of time, it's easy to infer who Superman Secondus is.

The idea that The Just is actually a sequel to All-Star Superman mostly comes from statements Morrison makes in this interview: http://www.cbr.com/all-star-interview-grant-morrison/

>"And at the same time, he’s kind of passed on his DNA, so you know there’s going to be a Son of Superman sequel, almost. So, I wanted to show that there’s this highest, transcended version of Superman at the end, but also, it’s a man who’s passing on his DNA, passing on everything that he is in the form of a son or a daughter."

>"Part of one of the things I wanted to do with the whole Son of Superman thing was to take that whole thing with the old Super Sons stories and update that, make it modern and have the son of Superman and Batman. The first page would be Superman and Batman shaking hands and saying, 'Congratulations old friend. We’ve stopped all crime.' One day, I might get to them or some version of it. There’s a little bit of that in the 'Multiversity' series that I’m doing."

DC rebooted for sales like every other time. Johns never cared about the multiverse.

Warner Bros demanded both post crisis and nu52 reboots. Flashpoint was to carry on pre flashpoint but only the big 7 was to get retooled.

Warner just said no then nu52.

Earth 2 isn't even the E2 that is shown in the Guidebook any longer. The main problem with the Guidebook is just that (a prime example being the Earth One universe); also:

>>93926744
>Cyborg
Likely got a bit more prominence due to the New 52 "synergy" - likewise, some of the Earths have more of that.

It would really be better if Grant does Multiversity Too as more than just his extended Flash one shot, that we get an updated Guidebook that is less New 52 oriented
