Something I've always loved about Piotr's Colossus form is that he doesn't just turn into a metal-skinned dude, he actually has a very particular pattern on his skin. It's neat.

Sometimes wonder how Marvel Comics Presents would have turned out had they stuck with their original plan to have a different solo X-Men story every couple of months. They abandoned it and went full on Wolverine around issue #48 save for the random one-off (Mirage, Mojo, Warlock, Beast) but I wonder what kind of stuff we would have gotten had it stayed the course:

The Archangel filler solo story from Judgement War expanded to around 10-12 issues

Hellions solo stories perhaps, even showing Warpath leaving the team perhaps to set up him joining X-Force

The story of how Havok got captured and brainwashed by Cameron Hodge and the Genoshans

Nocenti doing more Longshot shit

Maybe Claremont doing flashback shit with Rogue to explain what the fuck happened between Rogue/Mystique and Carol Danvers?

Y'know, I have this theory about the X-Men, their villains, and mutants in general: they are allegories.
Professor X is a teacher who molds young minds - - - so he's a telepath who manipulates minds.
Magneto is a polarizing political radical - - - so he's the master of magnetism.
Rogue began things as a young and impressionable girl who matured too fast and so was traumatized by the experience of physical contact - - - take a wild guess...

But Colossus (and Beast, while I'm admitting it) was a complete puzzle to me.
What could Peter's allegorical purpose possibly be? He's not secretly gay, or banging his sister ... yet, or even a masochistic guilt-riddled killer. So what is he?

Yesterday I figured it out when re-reading that Jean Grey comic : he's the guy in denial.
He steels himself against anything that would harm him and he doesn't feel any pain.
He never notices in twenty years of sex-free comics that his girlfriend is a lesbian, he still thinks his Hellperv sister is an innocent little snowflake, and he still thinks he's noble and pure and incorruptible despite all the bad things he does.

This guy is all about denial, tell me I'm wrong.
