Pre-inferno maddie is such a badass. I love the idea of this powerless normal who has *seem some shit* just soldiering on, helping however she can - running computers, flying planes, punching fascists. This version has nothing in common with the goblyn queen; I wish we could've kept her.

Yeah; on a side note, I really fucking wish, when Scott inevitably returns, they put him and Maddie back together. It would do a great deal to undo the decades of character derailment, if his redemption arc includes him reconciling with his first wife and her being allowed back into the X-Family.

back to sylvestri! both artists on this arc are great, but the fact that they rotate is the only thing that mars it.

We established in >>93730881 that pipeline can teleport clothes and equipment if he wants, so I guess he sent Rogue and Wolverine naked to Genosha just to fuck with them.

Very true. It does get murky. By the way, I love the fact Logan uses his spy/wetworks experience during this era and Carol is from the same cloth.

I know Ultimate was knee deep with the government super hero thing but 616 has quite a few heroes with military ties(Cap, Logan, Carol, Ben Grimm, War Machine, Alpha Flight, Quasar, USAgent, Forge)

I know she's not actually doing it, but it looks like she's breastfeeding the baby, and that is some pretty risque imagery for a Big Two book.

And that's it for Uncanny X-Men for this volume! Next time: Colossus goes solo! See ya guys then!

Basically. Fall Of The Mutants until Muir Island Saga was really one of the most interesting periods of X-Men, because it upended the stereotypical X-Men MO for a while. The splintered team timeframe especially did something different and unexpected. The introduction of new enemies like the Reavers, the Right (though primarily an X-Factor thing), and the Genoshans was pretty awesome for me. I kinda wish that the X-books now had people writing that didn't want to do callbacks and did want to press forward and make something new. At least something new and flawed would be more interesting than the same Claremont/Simonson/Lobdell story from 20+ years ago retold again and again with MadLib detail changes.

Thanks!
>>
>>93736660
The problem with pressing forward is that event shit will derail you and books get relaunched every year
>>
>>93731255
Why does Rogue's costume keep changing? This is the third time since the thread started.
>>
>>93736513
Thanks, mate
>>
>>93736709
That "event shit" is how you get Rightclops, The Dark Avengers, and SpOck.
The unanimously agreed upon best stuff of the past 20 years was all "event stuff".
The little details, changes, and snuck-in retcons that appear in single issues are the things /co/ won't stop bitching about.
Like Iceman's outing, Carol's costume changes, and Spidey's OMD.
None of those were from events.

Thanks OP

>Wait...if Wolverine has no powers, wouldn't his body start to reject the adamantium in his skeleton?
That's what's preventing his body from producing red blood cells normally. see >>93732837
Now how Logan's body normally produces new blood cells at all when all access to his bone marrow is Adamantium plated, I couldn't say...

you kiddin? You made my night, anon. I friggen love Silvestri and Leonardi X-books. I only just got into comics seriously right after X-Men/X-Force hit and missed all this good shit that came before.
>>
>>93733247
never have i needed something so bad and never known until I had unrecieved it.

why do you make me wish for good Marvel comics anon, you know it's going to be another twenty years and by then no-one will remember these good old days...
>>
>>93733889
both your complaints have actually been addressed in the comics anon...
>>
>>93735407
Here's the thing anon, that whole "Sisterhood of women" thing? It's utter crap.

Women do not care about other women except as it affects them socially/biologically. Women slut shame because it lowers the value of their sex. But sex slavery? women are perfectly fine with that so long as it's either a) not women of their tribe, or even b) a woman of the tribe who is a direct competitor to them.

As far as that lady is concerned, Rogue isn't a woman of her tribe, so she doesn't care if Rogue gets raped. So long as she gets the resources of "the man", she doesn't care if someone else does the carnal labor of "the mans" desires.

This is some shoddy art. I forgot how much I hate traditional superhero comic art.

The only thing shoddy here is whatever the process of "remastering" all these old comic pages into digital comics. This art was created by design to be printed on newsprint, not viewed on tablets in high resolution.

I'm catching up on the old Brood storytime and now i'm mad cause i'll wanna keep posting about it.

skipping evolutionary war tho

Any money Marvel makes butchering classics in this manner is too much and should be punishable by law.

The coloring doesn't help, but I was referring to the pencil work. It's very rushed and the characters are off model in each panel.

Give me Phil Jimenez any day. He's a perfect example of good pencil work.

Oh god, that recoloring is terrible.

The pencil work still irk me with how rushed it looks.

Ignoring the fact that Genosha didn't exist continuity-wise until around 1988, the standing reason why no one knew how the nation was a hellish slave state, is due to the fact that Genosha basically was a closed off nation akin to North Korea. Which is a major plot point in the original story, in that the nation was willing to kill the Gene Engineer's son and Maddie to keep them from ratting out what the nation does to mutants.
>>
>>93736660
Disbanding the team only works when you have a limited cast of "core characters" and everyone else either is in a spin-off book or not worthy of anything major story-wise except to be a brainwashed pawn.

X-Men got away with it because there was only one X-Book at the time.

On a side note; I really fucing wish they would have done something similar to Fall of the Mutants with Avengers Disassembled. Basically something happens and the traditional Avengers (Wanda, Vision, Thor, Hank Pym, Jan, Hawkeye, and Scott Lang) are presumed dead after a heroic sacrifice and but are still alive and well but having to pretend to be dead.

Hell, they could have even given them the Thunderbolts book too as their new home while Bendis did his bullshit JLA lite team, then slowly build up an Inferno-stye showdown between the two teams.

Hey Nick Spencer if you're testing the waters for a post-Secret Empire Steve Rogers books, YES T-bolts relaunch

fair enough.
(Although comparing a Jimenez funsie sketch to buzzer-beating deadline crunch Leonardi pages a bit less so...)
At any rate, I'll take rushed 80's Marvel art over the modern day equivalent any day of the week.

Here's an example of Jimenez during crunch time.

The deadlines for New X-Men became increasingly detrimental to the comic. Jemas did that intentionally because he wanted Morrison out of Marvel Comics, all together.
