I think she's a composite character of Michele Gonzalez and Mary Jane. It's pretty obvious. Comic MJ wouldn't fit with the way they've approached this reboot, she'd come off as obnoxious and annoying in a live action movie, thats just how things translate. If they eased up her personality and made her thoroughly accommodating of and slavishly devoted to Peter like any other generic female love interest, she'd serve the exact same role as comic MJ minus being your favourite colour.
