He looks far older than 10, mid teen to 17 (in some of the panels) is definitely right. There's also not a lot of variance between kid Clark in the first two pages and the additional pages that feature Jon.

The part where she was investigating the "other" Lois, where she was on the Moon during the Eradicator attack and the one issue on the Manchester Black run makes it clear there's still a lot to do with her, especially in the family dynamic, and as a mother to an enhanced being, especially since they haven't explored where Jon falls - he's not a true meta-human and he's not a pure enhanced being like Jonn, Clark, Starfire, etc.

I think it's easy to rag on it but if what someone said about it being the product of their Writers Workshop I respect DC for giving them one of the biggest books they have, especially at the moment.

This. What ever rebirth "Rebirth" is referencing obviously doesn't actually kick in until after the Clock runs out.

My thing is the doomsday clock in Watchmen is well defined and it's something that really wouldn't exist in a world with a real superman (instead of autistic and cryptic manhattan) because it's based on a type of danger that would be very easily avoided with so many super-powered masks around.

So it'll be interesting who's calculating the clock and what is the danger they're predicting.

I agree with you - how are people going to learn and I don't have any problem with the story. The point of an editor is to help and in comics that means both the art work and the script. My biggest issue with this is with the art. In the 40s, they would have Schuster do the faces or have Swan do them when the Super books became a big production line. All the artist needed to do was take a look at some of the recent issues and do some aping of Lois face and of Jon's - I'm a failed graphic designer because I can't draw, but even I could take someone else's face and do a decent enough imitation of it with enough time.

Actually, Jon is a creation of Jurgen's, so hopefully he would handle him well. He was brought to life I the Convergence two-parter, written by Jurgen's, and developed further in the 8-part Arrival mini-series that lead directly to Rebirth.

It jarred me the first time I read it, but Jurgen's wrote Jon as being a bit of brat when he got all up into Clark and Lois for all their secrets as to Clark being Not Superman in black and Lois being Author X, after the first time Intergang attacked Lois' vehicle. They didn't acknowledge anything until Lois and Jon were put into actual jeopardy and it became clear to Lois that Jon had developed some powers.

I think it's been a bit inconsistent. I remember when that issue was story-timed, some folks said that it's not really unusually for a kid to be a bit of brat once or twice, it's more how they act all the time/rest of the time that would decide.

He has - and generally, I really like what Tomasi has done and he's certainly done more post-Rebirth than Jurgen's has.

And I don't mind a child being written as occasionally being a child - bratty, difficult, stubborn, etc. I just don't want to see entire runs of it.

Bruce has a more disciplined way of doing things but Damian is also League of Assassins trained, so I want to see them draw a good line between positive structural type suggestions Damian ends up 'teaching' Jon, especially where it might contradict something Jon would have or should have learned from Lois or Clark.

I did not care for this issue at all. easily the least of this week's offerings.
