That's the joke anon. That's always been the joke. Once you come to accept that you can shed your hate and laugh with the rest of us.

The entire point of Ponyhead is that she is a fucking shitty person, an absolutely terrible horse face that makes things worse being around her. And that's the joke. The reason so many people drop the show in the beginning after seeing that episode is because they think the humor is going to be like that for the whole series (I don't blame them, Party with a Pony is shit) but once you understand that, that's when you can appreciate (or at least tolerate) Ponyhead. Plus, as bad as she is, she truly is best friends with Star and has sort of an amicable relationship with Marco now (The book said that he would take Ponyhead over Janna, ouch)

Also in Season 2 she has that funny bit where they do the "you thinking what I'm thinking" and then they call the cops.

Eclipsa is going to be a major player as soon as she is released, no matter where the story goes with her.
I think Buff Frog will stay in the picture, seeing more of Mewni means more of monster society too and he's our sympathetic monster besides Ludo who's busy being a meat puppet. He might even tie in with Eclipsa.
And I don't think we're done with Jackie yet, though I don't know if that translates to her graduating to major character.

Lekmet could actually be dead. It's possible they could bring him back with Moon saving the ashes, but I think he's a minor enough character that his death could be seen as acceptable, if they don't resurrect him.

I don't know if anyone besides him will die in the present (though I'm also hoping it will be Moon),but I think they could get away with it having already happened in the past. Ex. Great Monster Massacre, though that didn't have named characters.

I feel pretty confident that someone we haven't heard of before, either from Moon's family or Toffee's family/side or both, will be killed off in flashback in Battle for Mewni. Something tragic's going on there and they're not hiding there was a war on.

Not sure if those skulls are going to turn out to actually be real. If they'd just left that backstory to the tapestry and whatever implications the audience would draw from that I'd assume they were from unknown Butterflys, but having actual named characters' skulls is maybe more gruesome than they'd be allowed to go. I'd like it though.

Though I think Ludo's helmet is also supposed to be a Septarian skull from his family's conflict with them in the past, except unlike Toffee's situation we know Ludo wouldn't have killed the guy it came from himself.

That's pretty debatable, she has a good amount of screen time but not much of it is focused on her. I'd say Bon Bon and Just Friends are the only ones where she's on the same level as Star or Marco.
I'd put Buff Frog on a similar borderline level as Jackie, he's had less screen time but much more development and agency independent of Star or Marco, with basically two episodes to himself.

Yeah, I always think S3 when considering Moon death (and, before the latest finale and renewal, I thought S2) but realistically if it happens at all it would be late S4. It's not even the queen aspect so much as it's hard to do lighter episodes after Star's mom just got murdered.

It's just that S4 is SO far ahead that making predictions for it is pretty much impossible. The end of S1 was even really different from the beginning; if someone read a typical post-S2 thread after only seeing 1 they wouldn't know what the fuck. Things change too much in this show to make any guesses beyond Battle for Mewni.

I guess I'd personally call the former group "major" and the latter "supporting," but really they're all secondary characters anyway.

Glossaryck isn't God. Maybe a "god of magic" but he's not all-powerful or all-knowing, even in his field. He was at least vulnerable inside the Wand, and seemed genuinely surprised when Star was able to reach through the All Seeing Eye. He has more pieces of the puzzle than anyone, but he has to figure things out too. Even with Star's wand, an artifact he's been around for centuries, he has to look under the hood for a while.

Well, it was Star, not Ruberiot who wanted to put in all the edgy stuff and the embarrassing reveals about Glossaryck and Ludo and hiding the truth that caused the riot, Star was the one who came up with the idea of brutal honesty.

Definitely.

The first few episodes are probably the weakest conceptually in that they're really episodic and contain some generic elements. Middle of the first season shakes things up and then the second takes it to a higher level.

Can get into more detail if you're interested, but basically: check it out, if the first episode or so doesn't do much for you don't write it off, since even a lot of fans aren't big on the very beginning. Try skipping ahead a bit to see what you think of later episodes-- though if you like it from the beginning there's no problem.

It's good, gets into plot and leep dore while retaining a sense of humor and fun. It sort of comes off as dumber than it actually is at times, as in there's more thought put into its development and universe then just watching one episode could lead you to believe, and the directions they take things can be surprising.

Honestly though if you already don't see the art style as "CalArts" or "tumblr" or a blight upon the industry or whatever, then you're halfway to liking it already. It's storyboard-driven, some fun expressions and such.

You're already interested. Give it a shot, it's surprisingly great, especially if you already liked the magical girl genre and cute best friends crushing on each other stories. Story isn't anything groundbreaking, but there's some deepest lore and the lolsorandom impression you might get is actually some well-timed humor that's sometimes hilariously dark.

First few episodes are a bit shakey - they give you an impression of the overall tone of the series, but certain annoying characters get axed later. If you hate them, the show probably isn't for you, but if you like them you'll definitely be in for a treat later.

Issue with practicing "don't fuck around" martial arts is that it's hard to actually practice. You have to actually spar and be able to apply what you know in a fight without holding back, and if the martial art has you doing fucked up shit you naturally can't practice everything until it's muscle memory.

And, well, in most scenarios you don't want to kill people. Learning to do all axe heel kicks without knowing how to grapple means you can't handle yourself in a regular-ass street fight . If you're actually scared, you bring a stun gun or a real gun or whatever. Martial arts as serious self defense is a lot of time spent for something you likely won't really need, so it's better if you go into it to enjoy it for what it is - feeling up other half-naked dudes on a mat and pretending it's not gay.

Guess this could sound like a backhanded compliment but Star Vs. got genuinely good when it started becoming like the fan fiction version of itself, if that makes sense. Not even in a bad way or that it became a parody of itself or something, just using the type of concepts that fans would inevitably have played with if the show had been "Ludo doesn't get the wand/Star misunderstands Earth thing" forever:
>what if star was a freaky alien since she is actually from another dimension
>what if a villain shows up and he's dark and mysterious and smarter than everyone else and totally beats star
>what if ludo went on a journey of self-improvement and became a real villain
>what if there were a bunch of badass women in star's family tree, including her mother and an ambiguously evil ancestor, both of whom are connected to the main villain
>what if the show got increasingly darker, with star using dark magic and evil contracts and body horror and shit

But instead of that just remaining in too-serious fan works, the crew basically went "yeah, what IF?" and beat fans to the punch because until then pretty much everyone had written it off early as shallow because of the first episodes, and just focused on the shipping. I don't normally think this about shows, but for Star Vs. most of the major canon revelations have been way better than the kinds of things the fans predicted (just the still tapestry image of Moon cutting off Toffee's finger was cooler than the fan art predictions of essentially the same thing made before that episode).

I dunno, not that any of those kind of plots are fan fiction in themselves, but it's sort of different seeing them happen onscreen sequentially in a TV show, rather than a single movie or novel or something where it would have been planned from the beginning. Feels like they have fun with the universe.

But that is why dedication to the art is important, and getting live partners to train with works best. And while yes you don't want to kill people, and Muay Boran is a style developed during wartimes, you can put people down/incapacitate them without lethal damage. Actual Muay Thai with street fights is what it is all about, considering that style is what most kids growing up in Thailand learn not only to defend themselves, but to also get into martial arts as a living. As for learning grapples to use them in a fight, if you really want to play it safe over just pure offense, you can pick up grapples from another style, such as Judo.

As for that last part, you can have fun doing that all you want, but I'm saying that if you don't want to fuck around, learn a style that matches that. Cause kicking a banana tree until your shin bones are as hard as stone doesn't really go well with feeling people up.

This makes more sense when you remember that Nefcy thinks of herself as a woman-child and the entire concept of the show is basically her autistic self-insert fan fiction for her own idealized life.
It has a lot of the twists and escalation you'd expect from that sort of thing, it's just much more well written than your typical examples. One of the biggest tells is all the little things that get foreshadowed or teased half a season or more in advance, like Eclipsa's All Seeing Eye first showing up in Mewnipendence Day. Things like that tell you the creator has invested way more of themselves in their project than normal.
