I think something interesting to think about is the way Vader was turned to the light side, or specifically, the way he was convinced to destroy the Empire. Vader had spent years in an environment of horrorible moral actions like slavery and living under the Sith code. I think if you live in that sort of an environment, even if you embrace it at first, you eventually grow succeptable to wanting to see that environment destroyed given very strategic nudges from your enemies (one of the first Jedi Vader has seen in years, who is also his long lost son, trying to convince him to destroy the Empire). However you have to wonder if periodically over the years Vader's friends and family (Kenobi, Ahsoka, Beru, Owen, Luke) surrendered themselves and tried to truly convince him to turn to the light, if he would grow a resistence to this type of convincing and eventually when Luke is being electrocuted by the Emperor if Vader would allow him to get killed. If Vader hadn't starved himself of the light for such a long time, would Luke's allure work on him?

This is what makes Kylo Ren interesting to me, because he uses the dark and light side (but for nefarious reasons). When Kylo was faced with a similar situation as Vader (replace the son with a father) he was desensitized to the light side and ended up killing Han. Kylo is dangerous because he's taken what he percieves to be a moral high ground where the allure of the dark and light side can't convince him to make such drastic, galaxy changing decisions because he's more devoted to the First Order as an ideology and will very carefully use both the dark and light side to see that his ideology survives and conquers the galaxy. This makes me think of the 'Light. Darkness. Balance.' 'It's so much bigger.' quote from The Last Jedi's trailer. Luke has realized that it's only rational to see the dark and light side as two extremes that make people commit irrational behavior that in the long term may have horrible effects for the galaxy. Hell what 'dark' and 'light' even means has a million different meanings to a million different people. He has in a way learned from Kylo. Instead of worrying about 'light' 'dark' or even 'balance' (in the sense of EU Gray Jedi) you should worry about your actual ideology and actions and whether they serve the galaxy or yourself. Basically get to the very core of what it means to be a Jedi and Sith and start from there instead of worrying about prophecies made by ancient people in ancient times when their morality was drastically different from yours.

A very similar argument could be made for the New Republic and their fears of Empire-like policies instead of worrying about the very core of a law which is whether it serves the people or the elite. A Stormtrooper helmet doesn't make someone evil, the person wearing that helmet executing a village of innocent people makes someone evil. Someone questioning the light side and whether the Jedi and New Republic are actually doing what they're meant to be doing isn't evil, that person joining a genocidal dictatorship and executing innocent people is evil. Vader was evil because he was selfish and wanted infinite power to sort of parallel brutal dictators like Benito Mussolini were evil because they serve themselves and want infinite power. However this isn't the only type of evil. Kylo Ren is evil because he serves not himself, but a brutal system that harms the innocent similar to how ISIS is evil because they serve a brutal system that harms the innocent. Kylo Ren isn't a Sith however he's equally as evil as them for different reasons. Rey isn't yet a Jedi however she has the potential to be equally as good as one for different reasons too and this is the lesson Luke is trying to teach her in The Last Jedi.

tl;dr: 'GRAY JEDI XDXDXD' shit likely isn't being canonized in The Last Jedi. Expect /swg/ to turn into Twin Peaks General on /tv/ when normies get confused by the moral questions brought up in The Last Jedi except replace 'LYNCHED' with 'RIAN'D'

It's extremely obvious to tell the intention of the writers when you have this guy who fans know as the best bounty hunter of the OT era and they keep implying that he's been doing very impressive stuff which builds up to an arc where he kills the best bounty hunter of the PT era.

Boba was killed off in the way he was because of the intended viewers of the movie he was killed in are children and he wasn't the main villain meaning that Lucas didn't care enough about the character to kill him in some crazy way. Well with the Venator, it is a failure because Boba's entire goal there was to kill Mace, which obviously didn't happen despire Boba trying several times

With finding out who Luke was, it's definitely a failure because he only got a name. Vader wanted Luke captured. Instead, Boba got knocked out by a box hitting him on the head because a blind untrained Luke unintentionally threw it at him with the Force. That's the definition of a failure. Not a total failure since he at least got the name, but as far as his mission goes it was a failure.

With finding the falcon, I don't agree with the anon that it's a "failure" but it's not really anything significant either. He did 0% of the heavy lifting, all he did was hide in the trash to track Han.

Snoke is described as being steeped in Dark Side knowledge. Plagueis was known for having "such a knowledge of the Dark Side".

Snoke is described by his apprentice, Kylo Ren, as “wise”. Which villain in the Star Wars saga was labelled ‘wise”?


Snoke's theme is nigh on identical to that of the Opera Scene in ROTS where we learn about Darth Plagueis.


Snoke literally looks like he has cheated death. His injuries are extensive. The only person we know who has actually cheated death (saved others) is Plagueis. Did he really teach his apprentice everything he knew? Have Sith Lords ever been known to bend the truth? Tell a little lie here and there? Masters of deception, anyone?!


Within the Darth Plagueis novel that was de-canonised, Plagueis talks about having Superweapons that can destroy entire star systems, he talks about ruling from the shadows whilst Sidious is the public face, of how immortality is more important than the power Sidious is after and on the cover appears as a large hologram overlooking Sidious. There are also many more verses in the novel that could fit very nicely with what we know about Snoke. It should also be noted that Plagueis had his apprentice Sidious murder his family as his final trial - something Snoke orders Kylo Ren to do.


Plagueis was originally a Muun. A tall (7ft), pale, skinny alien. That was de-canonised. Like the book that shares many ideas that resemble Snoke's story. And what does Snoke look like - Tall (7ft), pale, skinny and he's an alien.

Here's the weird bit: JJ even considered the possibility of Snoke being a woman. He didn’t want him to be an old and decrepit, like the Emperor. Um…but what did we end up with?

In the original script for ROTS, Lucas had it that Anakin WAS created by the Sith (Palpatine). He discarded it as it was unnecessary. However it shows what his final thoughts were on Anakin's origins. Then he decides to write the ST. He needs a villain. Would Lucas' villain not have been Plagueis? The perfect tie in with HIS beloved PT and a way of directly continuing the Darth Vader chosen one tale? Keep in mind Michael Arndt's recent comments that Lucas' treatments weren't in fact ditched but that much of it remains.


In the comic con conference, JJ tells us that LK was not being honest when he mishears Plagueis as Vegas as he says "LK is messing with you". This shows us that JJ passed the question over hoping LK would come up with a good cover story. But LK messed it up. Daisy Ridley is also shushed by Abrams as she begins to say "Is that S...". Whatever happened there, it got awkward and is a point for Plagueis IMO. The question from comic con was specifically about whether Plagueis would be mentioned in Episode VII and about the staff - NOT if Darth Plagueis will be in the ST, like many people have misinterpreted.
Kylo suggests to Hux that Snoke considered a clone army - something that once had direct implications with the Sith and their plan to take over. A nod to Plagueis' former role. He's minted and funded the clone army - more on this later.
Where did Snoke acquire his extensive Dark Side knowledge? If anyone can get this knowledge what is the point in the Jedi and Sith? Why did they have a monopoly on the Force? Why is so much made of knowledge being passed down within both orders if Snoke can just learn it himself? This means to me that Snoke was a Sith. But the only Sith who could've survived and reemerged is Plagueis.

During Rey’s vision sequence in TFA, we can clearly hear the voice of Palpatine saying “any Jedi!” This carefully selected piece of audio was lifted from a scene form ROTS where Palpatine is talking to Anakin about saving Padme from death. Once again, this is a nod to Plagueis and the power he possessed to save people from dying. Why use this line? Why reference the PT when apparently “Disney are distancing themselves from the PT” as many deluded fans claim?


It was confirmed that there were NO Sith in TFA. Again, this resulted in fans claiming “Snoke can’t be Plagueis!” Nonsense. After cheating death, Plagueis would have abandoned the Sith order (Maul, Rebels anyone?!).


Sidious and Vader were the only two Sith remaining. Once Vader killed Sidious, the Sith were destroyed and balance was restored. Plagueis’ existence does not interfere in the prophecy.

I've always been a believer that the ST is about the rise of a new Jedi order, which will result in the demise of the Skywalker's. As was heavily implied in ROTS, and as Ian McDiarmid eluded to at SWCO, Anakin was created by Plagueis. It was that Luke's exile was because he was guarding the tomb of an ancient Sith Lord. This somehow got interpreted as the Sith Lord having resurrected, and people went "well Plagueis learned how to cheat death that's resurrection right?"

When pointed out that Plagueis by that point would have been around only a few decades earlier and thus doesn't really qualify as ancient, that started the mental gymnastics about how Plagueis may have actually been thousands of years old when Sheev "killed" him.

Probably not. The only reason it worked with Sheev is because he'd already been working him for over a decade. I think by that point Maul would be smart enough to know that he'd need to do more to get someone like Anakin on his side than just tempt him with the dark side, especially because at this point Anakin would probably see him as a hated enemy. Even for him to try to pull a "I have the power to save your wife, join me!" trap he'd need to know how best to persuade him, which Sheev was able to do because he'd had his trust for a long time.
