Considering we got both Mon Cala Grievous and the return of the Xexto race in the comics, we're just one step away from them combining into that.

>>
>>93182975
This plus they ignore the fact that we already have a confirmed Jedi survivor during the OT in Uprising. Also the obvious theme of Kanan and Ahsoka changing from a Jedi into something in the middle of light and dark meaning that by the time of ANH Kanan and Ezra may be some other religion other than Jedi.
>>
>>93183047
We already know they don't all die because of Hera and Chopper being in RO.
>>
>>93183047
It all depends on where the series ends.

As >>93183098 pointed out, there will be survivors. But that's still not to say they won't pull some sort of time skip
>>
>>93183047
You have been conditioned over the past 20 years of television and cinema "artistry" to expect the characters you love to die horribly and believe happy endings are a myth for children.
>>
>>93182970
>>93182906
Kanan can't be around the Rebellion during and after ANH, specifically around Luke, who at that time was struggling to search for any Jedi knowledge or artefacts that could help him. That means he never interacted with Ezra and especially Kanan. Even if we assume they ended up being in different groups of the Rebellion, someone from the Massassi group would have remembered Kanan and told Luke about him, and if Kanan went into hiding or something, Luke would have gone looking for him. Of course, this doesn't automatically mean that Kanan is dead, but it makes it very likely.
>>
>>93183170
Kanan's had death flags for a while, so I expect him to die. Ezra's likely the one that ends up going on some other mission that keeps him out of regular contact with the rest of the rebellion.
>>
>>93183170
Meant for >>93182975 instead of >>93182970
>>
>>93183139
As much as I'd love to find out that Hera's voice over was actually her officiating at Ezra's and Sabine's shotgun wedding, Darth Filonious didn't get to slake his blood lust in S3, so I'm not hopeful for a happy ending anywhere, not even for Lyste.

The New Stormtroopers.jpg

I've figured out what I hate about the First Order stormtroopers, and it has to do with how we personify and "human-ify" inanimate objects like helmets. Whether we like it or not we give faces to helmets, it's subconscious - and the previous two trooper designs had a clear 'face' in the helmet itself - and kinda a tough, angry, face, at that. This gave the troopers personality and let us identify with them or be scared of them.

The new stormtroopers lack this face to connect with, and they kinda look like a duck? Idk they just don't have that personality that the others had.

I did this drawing to try and explain what I mean

Even if Kanan dies it's sort of inconsistent because we know he's with the Massassi group meaning that Luke should have been told of Kanan's Jedi knowledge and possibly investigated the Lothol temple and whatnot. Either way it sort of doesn't make sense so it's still just as possible (as Dave has suggested) that Kanan and Ezra are off in other parts of the galaxy doing important stuff at a time when all 3 of them are too busy working for the Rebellion to work on their Jedi training. Keep in mind in the new comic arc Luke has to sneak away to the Screaming Citadel because the Rebellion is so busy that they likely wouldn't want him going off trying to train as a Jedi at the moment. I want to say that in Moving Target (which is set between ESB and ROTJ) Luke mentions that he's off doing Jedi work so it wouldn't surprise me that if Kanan or Ezra survives Season 4 if they announce a comic or something where they join Luke and help him build his new lightsaber before ROTJ even if they're no longer Jedi.

Also I just realized that Hera is an X-Wing pilot now so it's entirely possible that another humanoid character survives into Rogue One to fly the Ghost while she's using an X-Wing. If this is the case then Ezra likely survives since he's being propped up as being a good pilot.

>>93183392
That's another good point. I think it's likely that by the time of the comics Luke knows about Kanan and Ezra (hell the JR novelization of ANH even implies that Zeb trained Luke in flying an X-Wing). But what can he really do with that knowledge? Also Ahsoka is likely around since Dave confirmed that she survived her encounter with Vader and Luke somehow learned of Anakin's mission on Rodia by the time of Heir to the Jedi so it's very possible that they met shortly after ANH.

All that has to be done is have Kanan and Ezra fake their deaths in the presence of other Massassi group members and it will spread that they are dead. Or they will be forgotten quickly as the ramp-up to dealing with Scarif happens.

Luke will never know about them, Wedge will never have a reason to tell Luke to go look for them, Aphra won't get it in Luke's head to look for them, Hera can officially focus on the Rebellion even-more full time. It just works.

I think the biggest thing that bugs me about Kanan and Ezra is that Dave has given really good reasons why they should survive into the OT and if they die it wouldn't feel natural. It would just feel like 'Oh normies don't understand that force sensitives with Jedi training are allowed to exist during ANH so here's their mandatory death scene where a rock falls on them or some shit'. I really fucking want Kanan and Ezra to at least be teachers in Luke's new Jedi Order even if they've abandoned the Jedi ways. Then I realize that if that's the case Kylo Ren likely killed them. Just fuck my lore up senpai.

>Even if Kanan dies it's sort of inconsistent because we know he's with the Massassi group meaning that Luke should have been told of Kanan's Jedi knowledge and possibly investigated the Lothol temple and whatnot
Kanan had nothing to leave behind for Luke, and Lothal would either be out of bounds for the Rebellion or Luke already checked it out "off-screen" and found it destroyed by Vader or something.

>Either way it sort of doesn't make sense so it's still just as possible (as Dave has suggested) that Kanan and Ezra are off in other parts of the galaxy doing important stuff at a time when all 3 of them are too busy working for the Rebellion to work on their Jedi training
No, if others know Kanan is still around, Luke would have made it a priority to go find him, and would have done it by now. This works the other way round too: news of an exceptional pilot destroying the Death Star against all odds named Skywalker (as in Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, one of the clone wars' best generals) would ring a bell in Kanan's head.

>Also I just realized that Hera is an X-Wing pilot now so it's entirely possible that another humanoid character survives into Rogue One to fly the Ghost while she's using an X-Wing.
As if Hera would let anyone else fly the Ghost into battle! They rebels have more pilots than X-Wings, so there is no need for Hera to replace anyone. Unless she is on some other secret mission, that's her in the Ghost in RO alright.

I looked up the text of Heir to the Jedi (haven't read it myself yet tbqh) and it sounds like the opposite of what you're saying: the Rodians told Luke about a battle his father took part in, and Luke didn't know about it before.

>My heart pumped faster. "Yes. My father was a Jedi who fought in the Clone Wars."
>Soonta blinked and tilted her head. "A son of a Jedi Knight? I thought the Jedi weren't allowed such relationships."
>That wrung an ironic half grin out of me. "Guess I'm not allowed, then."
>"It certainly explains the coincidence. It must have been your father of whom my uncle spoke. Apparently this Skywalker saved his life at the Battle of Sedratis. They were swarmed by droid fighters, and my uncle's shields were depleted when Skywalker flew in between him and the next blast that would have killed him. Skywalker destroyed the immediate threat and gave Huulik's shields a chance to recharge. They were eventually victorious that day, and I'm given to understand that they fought together on several occasions."
>That was the first specific exploit of my father's career as a Jedi I'd ever heard. It was gratifying to hear of him saving the life of a friend.

To sum up.

Luke was very desperate to get any knowledge about the Jedi after ANH (to a point of just randomly going to Nar Shaddaa and hoping somebody would know where he could find a Jedi temple). If Kanan was still around, Luke would have made it his priority to locate him and learn from him, but so far (in the post-ANH media) there is no indication of this ever happening. That means that either 1) Luke is not aware of Kanan or 2) by ANH Kanan is dead, or at least so unavailable that Luke couldn't make contact with him or get anything out of him in all these months, if not years.

Option 1 is kind of retarded, but I'm afraid it's the one they'll go with. But other rebels surely knew Kanan was a Jedi, not the entire Alliance of course, but still. Luke is also making a big deal out of his Jedi training, going on personal missions to learn the Jedi ways and not making a secret out of it. It's impossible that nobody ever made the connection, or just didn't bother to tell Luke. I can understand random nameless rebels not caring, but where was Wedge? Hera herself? Heck, Mon Mothma and Leia have both met the Ghost crew.

Option 2 with Kanan just being dead by ANH is the easiest solution. But let's say he survived, why haven't Luke found him yet? "They're working in different parts of the galaxy lol" is bullshit: remember, this is very important to Luke (he was even considering to sneak into the former Temple on Coruscant), he would have located Kanan no matter what. Maybe he did, but Kanan refused to help? Why would Kanan do that? Or maybe Kanan hid/disappeared so well and Luke haven't managed to find him yet? Again, why would Kanan do that?

Ezra is less of a problem, not being a real Jedi (yet). It's possible they have already met "offscreen", and Ezra sometimes helps Luke with his lightsaber training and basic discipline or whatever, but ultimately is more focused on the Rebellion/Mandalore, so Luke still has to look for Temples and holocrons to learn about the Jedi.
>>
>>93186345
Best solution would be to have them lay low on Alderaan when it gets Tarkin'd.
>>
>>93186345
Kanan will die in season 4. We will catch up with Ezra again in the new post ROTJ show. He slightly older and slightly disillusioned with being a jedi. He'll basically be the Kyle Katarn of Luke's New Order.
>>
>>93186515
Will he also grow a beard?
>>
>>93186515
>He slightly older and slightly disillusioned with being a jedi.
Nah. After Bo-Katan falls to a blaster offshot, Ezra winds up grabbing the Darksaber, rallying their forces, and dual wielding his way to victory. The next time we see him he'll be ankle deep in pissed off old Mandalorian houses; neck deep in organizing fights against Imperial incursions; over his head as The Mandalore; and balls deep in Sabine every night.

I was unironically thinking something like this. When Kanan dies, Ezra becomes slightly disillusioned with being a Jedi, and takes a break from the Rebellion and decides to stay on Mandalore with Sabine. There is enough stuff to keep him busy, lots of houses to reconcile and unite against the Empire; Scarif and Yavin largely go unnoticed. Then this guy Luke arrives, says he was told Ezra could teach him some things about being a Jedi. Ezra is reluctant, he shows Luke some basics of lightsaber combat and Jedi discipline and stuff, but is ultimately like "Look, man, I'm no Jedi, and I don't want to be one. If you wanna actually learn something, go find a Jedi Holocron, or at least a Jedi Temple. I once had a holocron, and I knew a Temple on Lothal, but they're both gone now, and I don't know any others. Sorry. Now excuse me, I have a war to fight here." So Luke goes on in his quest, and Ezra stays behind. We don't see him again much, but years later, when the Galactic Civil war is over and Luke is rebuilding the Jedi Order, Ezra and Sabine's kids are sent to Luke.

I think he if survived into the OT era he'd try to hitch himself to the rebellion as one of its leaders, still trying to play on the idea that he's a noble idealist and that the Separatists were wrong by the Empire. I think it would probably fall apart when the others realize he's using them as a power play and is trying to turn the rebel movement into another Separatist army.

In the ST I could see him trying to co-opt the First Order instead. There's no Palpatine around so it wouldn't be as awkward as him trying to squeeze his way into the Empire.

Less about opposite personalities and more about Thrawn kind of hating her for being responsible for a massacre for purely self-serving reasons. And moreso because he knows she did it but can't actually prove it.
>>
>>93188205
>opposite personalities

That's not the issue here, anon. Pryce blew up a shit ton of people despite Thrawn's plan of the opposite, then lied about it to his face. It was implied both Thrawn and Yularen were completely aware of what she did but had no definite proof. He most likely dislikes her immensely as a result, but he needs her because politics or whatever.

Thrawn went down to the surface of Atollon in the S3 finale to keep her from fucking everything up again. Yet she ended up letting Kallus escape, so that would further his distaste, probably.

Has there ever been an in-universe explanation as to why the Rebel fleet went to Endor if the actual plan to destroy the second death star only involved starfighters and the Falcon?

The only reasons I can think of as to why they'd participate are forcing the destruction of the shield on Endor should the strike team fail, which feels somewhat unlikely given the reaction to the shield being up (Granted, this reaction is somewhat intermixed with the realization that the Empire knew they were coming), and/or preventing imperial vessels from escaping, which feels like it aligns somewhat with Ackbar's mention of forming a perimeter while the fighters flew into the death star.

That sounds somewhat plausible. I guess I've never considered the threat that reinforcements might pose to the fighters.

>>93191323
I know the role that the fleet plays in the film overall, but that scene doesn't really offer an explanation as to why a parameter or the larger ships are necessary, which is what I'm curious about.

We know that Han's strike team is necessary because we're told and are later shown that there's a shield that needs to be taken down before attacking the Death Star. We know that starfighters are required to destroy the Death Star by flying into it, which is possible due to its ongoing construction.

With the larger Rebel ships, we're just told that they'll "form a perimeter" without an explanation as to why that's a necessary step. The only thing that the fleet actually does in the film is serve as a demonstration of the Death Star's operational status and engage with the Imperial fleet, which doesn't really appear to pose a hindrance to the starfighters given that the moment the shield is down they're able to fairly effortlessly carry through with their plan. No part of the Rebel plan is ever either stated or implied to hinge on their capital ships.

He knows. I think at this point nobody gives a shit. Lucas always wanted SW to be something that it didn't become. What we all loved wasn't his true vision. SW was first created by Lucas, but fixed up by a team of much smarter men. Lucas created the cesspool that were the prequels. Disney wants to make the fans happy. Fuck Lucas. Seriously.
>>
>>93192304
>Command skirt is modeled after that worn by indigenous Republic fighters on Rotas V
That's one of those weird things where you don't really know if it's canon or not because it's some completely random piece of information that isn't ever expanded on in the EU in a book made by Pablo who worked very closely with George at the time. I get the feeling that it is canon since it reminds me of Lucas' idea of indigenous fighters in Republic space fighting against the Separatists like on Felucia so it wouldn't surprise me if Lucas thought of some inhabitants of Rotus V famously fighting the Separatists before the war started and a bunch of clones wearing those skirts to honor them.

I don't know why so many people think that George is a careful curator who looks over everything and compares it to his interior vision
There isn't any.

Star Wars is a collaborative vision. There is no one creator

Is Empire the shittiest movie because George had the least impact?

I'm not saying George is bad. I'm saying that the scope of Star Wars has long escaped his grasp. He was a 70s movie nerd who loved the movies of his childhood and tried to recreate them, remixed style with the modern Sci-Fi twist
And he did it amazingly.

But that doesn't make him the God of Star Wars.
Just the first brushstroke on that canvas.

Don't forget the Irreducible Story Minimum. George Lucas is responsible for at least 90% of the plot and characterization of Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, all the other "writers" just refined the stuff he already had, when he permitted them to. Remember: Vader being Anakin was his idea from the start, and he only got to bring that idea back after Leigh Brackett died.

Ah, the good ol' "out of context" OT purist shitpost standby. When George Lucas said "Jar Jar is the key to all this" he was referring to the importance as a comic relief character that was meant to connect to and resonate with children. It was KEY for Jar Jar to be liked by the intended audience demographic he was designed for (read: pre-teens) in order for the film to work in Lucas' mind. You can debate his success in that regard, but you can't fallaciously impugn the man's attempt.

George is a 70s man who grew up watching some good movies and decided to honour them.
And with the help of a bunch of people, he did a good fucking job with Star Wars.

But he was out of his league when it went big time.

Empire was barely related to him, and he had help with ROTJ
It's clear that with the Prequels he was over his head.

Remember, that George only became rich because he sold his salary for merch rights.
And by god that paid off.

You don't know what a reboot is.

It was literally only 8 years since ROTS when TFA went into production, and during that time Lucas had been consistently creating more Star Wars, that to this day is still impacting the franchise. One of the characters he created in that time literally showed up in the newest movie.

It doesn't, for fuck sakes. This General can suck the EU's dick in some cases, but we're not naive enough to defend every corner of that shit.

Why is it that every time, someone mentions something pro-canon, or criticizes something from the EU, we get you saying "WHY DOES EVERYONE HERE HATE THE EU?"
>>
>>93194488
the hate is mainly from people who didn't grow up with the stuff in the 90's and trolls who love to stir the pot.

the more rational among us can discuss the pros and cons of both the EU and the nucanon while not devolving into pointless shit flinging from the various sects of star wars fandom. I personally like elements of both, but acknowledge that they both have their flaws. the bad points of the EU are really, really bad. and the canon tiers make the entire thing organized chaos. I love the organization and how inter-connected the nucanon is, but I feel like Disney is being too conservative and sterile with their media. the TFA played it too safe, we have had a bunch of good books and comics, but no truly great ones, and the games department has ground to a halt.

We won't be able to truly compare both sets of canons until the nucanon has time to grow. it's only been 3 years.

Han Backstory.png

Ok so I think I have an idea of how Han and Chewbacca's lives went prior to the Han Solo movie.
>Clone Wars happens
>Chewbacca begins taking care of orphans who's parents were killed in the war.
>Han Solo is one of these kids.
>During Revenge of the Sith Chewbacca's father is killed.
>Chewie likely leaves his orphans under the care of the Clone Troopers and then goes off to dick around the galaxy.
>Under the care of the Clone Troopers Han joins toe new Stormtrooper corps when they're formed months after the war.
>Chewbacca is likely enslaved by the Empire.
---This is probably where the Han Solo movie starts---
>Years later when Han is a Stormtrooper he finds Chewbacca as a slave. He frees him and they run away.
>While on the run Han begins smuggling drugs for a living. He gains a mentor (Woody Harellson) who teaches him about the secret trade routes and whatnot.
>This mentor eventually ends up owning a huge company who controls all the non Imperial trade routes.
>Han wins the Falcon from Lando in a game of Sabbacc.
>Han has a falling out with his mentor and likely kills him.
Now this is where it get's interesting. Kashyyk is right in the middle of two different trade routes and one of them called the Great Kashyyk Branch would easily have led the Separatists to Republic space (specifically Coruscant around the end of the war) in a discrete way other than directly attacking major Republic trade routes which is obviously out of the picture. If this mentor figure worked with trade routes around the time of the Clone Wars it's very possible that he led the Separatists to Kashyyk which led to the deaths of Han and Chewbacca's parents. This could very likely be the major twist of the Han Solo movie prompting this mentor figure to become the main villain in the final act of the movie.

>Lucas hired science fiction author Leigh Brackett to write Star Wars II with him. They held story conferences and, by late November 1977, Lucas had produced a handwritten treatment called The Empire Strikes Back. The treatment is similar to the final film, except that Darth Vader does not reveal he is Luke's father. In the first draft that Brackett would write from this, Luke's father appears as a ghost to instruct Luke.

>Brackett finished her first draft in early 1978; Lucas has said he was disappointed with it, but before he could discuss it with her, she died of cancer. With no writer available, Lucas had to write his next draft himself. It was this draft in which Lucas first made use of the "Episode" numbering for the films; Empire Strikes Back was listed as Episode II. As Michael Kaminski argues in The Secret History of Star Wars, the disappointment with the first draft probably made Lucas consider different directions in which to take the story. He made use of a new plot twist: Darth Vader claims to be Luke's father. According to Lucas, he found this draft enjoyable to write, as opposed to the yearlong struggles writing the first film, and quickly wrote two more drafts, both in April 1978. He also took the script to a darker extreme by having Han Solo imprisoned in carbonite and left in limbo

>After writing the second and third drafts of Empire Strikes Back in which the point was introduced, Lucas reviewed the new backstory he had created: Anakin Skywalker was Ben Kenobi's brilliant student and had a child named Luke, but was swayed to the dark side by The Emperor (who was really a Sith Lord and not simply just a politician). Anakin battled Ben Kenobi on the site of a volcano and was wounded, but then resurrected as Darth Vader. Meanwhile, Kenobi hid Luke on Tatooine while the Republic became the Empire and Vader systematically hunted down the Jedi.

Dear Mr. R. Eddit Spacing,

In 1977, Darth Vader was a generic villainous sidekick meant to look scary and sell toys. In 1999, Jar Jar Binks was a generic comic relief animal meant to make children laugh and sell toys.

In the present, they are far more narratively complex than their initial marketing ploys would suggest, which is a consequence of all media; it is necessary to turn a profit.

Kindest regards,
C. Anonau Tist.

They took the exact same concept of Anakin fighting Ventress (Bariss standing in for her) through and on-top of a temple, and losing his temper and wailing into her.

Look at the choreography, some of it is almots shot-for-shot identicle too, very clearly supposed to be a homage and canonization of this moment in Anakin's life (Similar to how they had previously adapted the Kit Fisto stuff too)
>>
>>93195438
The Barriss fight is among the best in TCW, but the emotional weight of the GenndyWars fight can't be matched
>>
>>93195477
... Are you for fucking real?

Anakin losing his temper against some bitch he's never met, has more emotional weight than the Season 5 finale, where he is on a personal quest of vengeance to get justice for his Padawan on trial for murder, wailing on someone who he previously believed to be Ahsoka's close friend?
>>

How many times did our heroes get threatened and then they pick up another saber to fight equal to equal

>>
>>93195520
Obviously they're taking notes from KOTOR
>>
>>93195519
He lost his temper, yes, but it wasn't a full blown breakdown like it was in GenndyWars

In the 2003 Clone Wars, Anakin attacks Ventress with the rage he feels at all his mentors.
We see that. We feel that

Not so in TCW. Where is the musical build up, to say the least
>>
>>93195520
It happened 5 times, and every single time was justified though.

>Obi-Wan and Sheev
>Were fighting Maul/Savage who had access to two lightsabers/Dual-Saber, needed the extra defense

>Maul
>Had just struggled to fight Sheev normally, and watched his brother die; Changed his fighting stance to try and mix it up and be unpredictable
>Immediately gets rekt because he doesn't usually fight this way, the extra saber did nothing for him.

>Kanan
>Was losing against the Inquisitor, grabbed Ezra's Lightsaber
>Only won because he used it not as a "combat upgrade", but because the unexpected blaster function threw Inky off

>Anakin against Bariss
>Anakin already shown to be good with dual sabers in AOTC, and trains his Padawan that way
>Uses two only to mix things up and defend better against Bariss's dual sabers
>Still loses the extra saber before the fight is done, and beats her with his single saber

So the only time a character really "upgraded" to win with a second saber was with Obi-Wan when he was fighting Maul and Savage, and even then it was a desperate situation that I think justified the decision.

So instead he switches to Qui-Gon's stance, leading Maul into an even further false sense of security, allowing for Obi-Wan to quickly shut down Maul's attempts to recreate the killing blow.

Anybody who says this fight is too short doesn't realize that this fight had been happening long before they started moving. It's one of the best in the entire franchise.

George might have eventually caved and added more. He did for Samuel L Jackson.

But yeah, it was a good decision that opened up a lot more variety. Having everything be blue would have been boring and wouldn't stand out well in a lot of locations.

Any interesting Star Wars related discussion?

>So instead he switches to Qui-Gon's stance, leading Maul into an even further false sense of security, allowing for Obi-Wan to quickly shut down Maul's attempts to recreate the killing blow.
What I especially love is that Maul tries the same move that let him kill Qui-Gon, not realizing that Obi-Wan remembers it and is ready for him.
>>
>>93196522
The thing that surprised me most of all was their dying conversation.

I thought that it was very significant character development for both characters. We learned a bit about two characters that we never knew had more to give us.

Also Maul seemed respectful of Obi-Wan, and glad someone put him out of his misery. He knew the dream was dead, so he wanted to take solace that he would have justice at the hands of better and stronger men than him.
>>
>tfw Maul didn't live long enough to see Sheev's empire come crashing down
>>
>>93196574
Maul went in there knowing he would come out the of it for the better regardless.

If he won. He proved that his life was not a complete failure, and would continue his legacy through Ezra.

If he lost. Then it was to someone stronger and worthy of his demise, a true Sith to the end.

I will never understand why people don't love such brave and awe inspiring men who strive to bring order to this bleak galaxy of ours.
>>
>>93196818
Because Empire is not evil per se. Many Imerials are though.

Empire's ideal was order, which was very welcome after the chaos of the war and decadence of the Old Republic. It is something many people IRL can relate to.

So in the old lore the Empire denied using the Death Star on Alderaan so why was a terror weapon even created if they were only going to deny it's use?

Libery is not that precious, when you are homeless and starving.
>>
>>93197144
Are you trying to imply that there were no homeless or starving people under the Empire?
>>
>>93197124
Because they were going to officially announce the death star after the rebs got nuked, which never happened.
>>
>>93197124
They denied it because the station got blown up. No station means no perfect was to enforce the order. That means, it is easier to deny the act and not provoke the population.
>>
>>93197124
>So in the old lore the Empire denied using the Death Star on Alderaan
That's kind of dumb
>>
>>93197184
Nah, not really. But after TCW the galaxy was in ruins and most people blamed the system. The Empire was a change for the better. It worked for a while, then some power-hungry assholes fucked it up as well.

Like, I said the Empire is not evil, but the Imperials are.
In the same way, the old Jedi Order is not bad, it is just that many old Jedi were kinda assholes.
And the Old Republic was not dysfunctional. The senators were.
>>
>>93197235
Why though? What was the alternative?

Empire: We blew up Alderaan!
People: Oh my god, this is horrible. Why did you do it?
Empire: It was a demonstration of the military strength of the Empire and a warning to anybody who would think to oppose up.
People: So, if we are upset by this event, you will blow us up too? With what?
Empire: With that giant station that was destroyed on the same day. But we have another one in project and it will take mere years to rebuild it.
People: Uh huh... Give us just a moment, we need to join the Rebellion real quick.
>>
>>93197257
>It worked for a while, then some power-hungry assholes fucked it up as well.
It was fucked from the start, sorry. As soon as the Empire got power, they dialed it up to 11 almost instantly.
>>
>>93197061
I really don't really think (Or at least, seriously hope) people actually identify with the "Peace and Order" aspect of the Empire, because the films make their brutality and the goals of the powers that be pretty clear.
>>
>>93196818
In-universe, the Empire brought order and stability after the chaos of the Clone Wars and centuries of decay in the Republic, however it came with the downside of brutal oppression and stripping away freedom. Some people were opposed to this, naturally, but some people saw it as a necessary evil outweighed by the benefits the Empire brought, or even as an actually good thing. And the further you were from the Core and the less human you looked, the more oppressed you were. So lots of humans and central worlds were actually thriving, and were happy to serve the Emperor and give away a bit of freedom in the name of peace and stability, whereas many alien species and backwater worlds like Lothal only suffered under the new regime and therefore hated it.

Out-of-universe, many people like the Empire as villains. Like, they don't unironically want to live under it, but they admire and respect it as far as fictional regimes go. I mean, the Empire has nice uniforms, practical and elegant in their own way ships, cunning and interesting villains, etc.
That, or they are just retarded /pol/lacks.

If you're talking about George Lucas, then yeah, the guy is my fucking idol. I'll praise him and """""defend""""" him until the day I die.

People are so quick to try and point and accuse and rob him of his credit. "Oh Kershner did this," and "Kasdan did that!", because they can't fathom the idea that so much of what works about Star Wars was born entirely in the creative mind of Lucas. And people don't look for themselves to see the creative process of the movies, OT and PT, to see exactly how Lucas was building the movies and telling the stories he wanted.

He did stuff Hollywood still is too afraid to do. Every time I think of Revenge of the Sith, I find myself thinking about the fucking balls on Lucas for half of the shit in that movie.

Not to mention how he pushed ILM and Lucasfilm animation to push what can literally be done with special effects in both movies and tv CGI animation.

And then the stories and worlds and characters he birthed are imprinted on me too. Not to mention the fact that he is just a pure-hearted and kind man.
