I'd like to point out in this thread: Being a garbage man requires classes in waste management and on site training. They aren't monkies that throw the bags on the truck, they have to be very educated and certified on the effects of pollution and the ways of waste management. Most technical colleges have course plans for this career line.

Most WM departments will take new hires and train them or have them audit college classes and when they get senority, certify them to operate heavy machinery. It's really is something you have to be lucky to get into.
