Damian is a kid trying to do some good in the world in spite of his past actions.
Its actually a pretty interesting direction for the character to take, and I wish writers would stick with it instead of resetting him to the start of Morrison's run.Priest saying he threw his previous characterisation out because he cant write him interestingly except as a dick in Lazarus Contract really annoyed me.
>>92948350

Nah, it's dumb and Priest is right. Damian has always been jerk and that's why he even became popular. You can't do a 180, this is cape comics after all.

This right here is why I prefer the Justice League either without Batman or with little Batman in it. Every time he's a focus, he does something Tony Stark tier that fucks absolutely everyone over, and no consequences go his way. Instead he's just portrayed as an unapologetic dickhead who can't possibly admit fault.
On his own Batman works because he is the center morality of his story. When they put him next to gods, the only thing he does to matter is fuck them over.

The story's about the Boxer Rebellion and comes in two separate books.
One about a young Chinese peasant leading the rebellion and the other is about a girl rejected by her Chinese family because of the circumstances of her birth and as a result decides to embrace a life of Christianity where she finds peace.
The pic is him stabbing a Christian missionary who was reading to Chinese converts (that consisted of entire families with children) the Bible.

Read that entire chapter of ASS if you haven't. Before he goes to talk to the girl, he's doing all his stereotypical save people from death stuff. The point of the story being that while it's great that he's stopping planes from crashing and shit, he'll still make time for saving someone in a situation like that girl's (which is different from the other situations in that chapter which are closer to what you described.) It's kinda one of those sorta meta moments of a Grant Morrison story because the way he saves her through being a beacon of hope and inspiration is ultimately what's most important about him as a character not his super powers.

Here he is at the end of his solo series with Maya, and Suren Durga flying off into the sunset. To whit:
He killed Maya's father and they spent the first third of his book trying to murder one another
Suren Durga killed all of his clone brothers and tried to murder him multiple times

Ted was my favorite superhero. He was funny, dedicated, inspired and inspirational. He had weight problems, girl problems (REAL girl problems... not that stupid ALL THESE GIRLS WANT TO RIDE MY DICK WHAT DOOOO? problems certain heroes get).
He wanted to be taken seriously and was by a lot of people, but never by himself. I get the feeling a lot of people treated him like a joke because he came off wanting to be treated like that, and the thing about being able to treat someone like a joke in a life and death situation is that they make you feel safe enough to do that in the first place. Just look at the Convergence issue where he leads his shitty little JLI against the Legion or when Hal leads the forces against OMACs at the end of the Brother Eye fight and tells everyone exactly how much he trusted Blue Beetle.
Ted Kord was the best hero and the day that Injustice puts a Silver Age Blue Beetle costume in the game is the day I buy it. Fuck the haters.
Also, I get the feeling a lot of authors felt cheated by his death, which is why we've gotten no less than three or four other retellings of it or second chances.

But my feelings were already broken and I just wanted to be treated normally like all the other kids. I wanted to not have every single person stop what they where doing and walk over to ask how I felt every five mintues.
I am not saying that I didn't need help from others, or that people don't need help for big problems like these. But sometimes it is the belittling attention people give that just belittles you even more. These things are very personal and complex, in this perception and context matters tremendously. Generalized comments like yours create dangerous stereotypes that create the labels and distance that makes this all the harder. So please stop and empathize more.

Fuck dude are you me? I haven't been diagnosed yet but that's exactly what I am afraid off.
I already have troubles already being socially awkward in my own FRIEND group. Can you imagine how much shit it will become if they start walking in egg shells around me? I will be righteously FUCKED.

>>92971182
If you need help, then you need help.
You can only do some much yourself, some times that is enough, other times it is not. But the hard part is your perception is biases as it deeply involves you. For me it was mostly a chemical problem in my brain, along with some father issues. I am not sure I would have made it long enough to isolate the issues if I had not gotten medicated like I did. Still it had some side effects, hit puberty at 23 so sex jokes didn't make any sense to me in high school. Therapy and very strict dietary changes got it under control. Along with realizing the reason father never was around was he grew up poor so he dedicated every second to making sure we had lots of money, that is how he showed his love and he really loved us. He just didn't understand I would trade those material things for a hug any day. I like to think I am smart enough I could have worked it out, but at that young an age knowing what I knew then, ... well I have significant doubts.
Still its not a bad idea for your doctor and some close friends to know so they can help you. Not everyone freaks out, especially if they already know you. And an second opinion is great for help frame things as odds are your perception is off, which leads to bad conclusions. Like that girl didn't reach her doctor, so she assumed he hated her when he just got held up. Perception is huge, and as much as I hated people telling me "it's never as bad as it seems", "it gets better" and other things. Honestly looking back 22 year, they have mostly proven true, not that I would have ever believed them back then.
I went out and met new people and when they found out about it months later they had the picture of the me they had grown to know, rather then some nut job who was gonna off themselves any minute. Some freaked, but some didn't, those that didn't were my best friends for years when I needed friends the most.
Be smart about it, but don't go it alone.

Honestly, you could pull a gut punch out of just about any issue of this run.
I couldn't find a scan, but later in the run when vision is playing back a recording of his son reading Merchant of Venice was particularly gut-wrenching because this series was how my dad and I got back into collecting floppies and reconnected after not seeing each other for some time.

Another hard hitting moment in this is whenAlfred still cheerfully doing his duties dies from age and stress, and that is what breaks Batman's mental barrier against Grodd, he returns to his boyhood vulnerability, the day he saw his parents die and he was helpless to stop it and it's such a strong signal Grodd immediately detects him.

3.Embezzles money from father's business and gets kicked out. Calls dad up begging for money and yelling about how why his father just can't understand
3.Abusive towards wife, (I think) gets banned from the company of wife's family

I don't know, the only offensively bad part about it is that tall panel on the right. Your eyes are led down the line of the stabbing, through the sword, diagonally downward the guy doing the stabbing, and then to the "wait, stop!" bubble, at which point you need to awkwardly rescan the page to find the rest of the aforementioned tall panel.
Rest isn't as bad, except reader might simply decide to shift their eyes down the page from "wait stop" to bound Damian, and read the middle panel in reverse, but that's not that horribly offensive (except the answer "RRNOO" will come before what it's answering - "Come back with us, son.")
Bottom half seems laid out alright.
I'm assuming a lot of the problems here are lettering problems with distractingly placed speech bubbles, because DC has like two letterers (Carlos Mangual and Jared K Fletcher) for most of their books, so they have to rush their stuff to get down with 30+ books a month between two of them (and occasional help by Comicraft).

He was raised by the League, Bruce got him when he was already a little shit and manages to tame him enough so others can deal with him. People always give credit to Alfred and Dick for their patience, but forget if Bruce didn't scold Damian into sensibility and want for guidance he'd have just dismissed those two. I've read this story before and sure, it was moving and good.
Last year one of my best friends died of cancer at 43. I knew he did have cancer but the way he described it was that it was shit but he was responding well to treatment and was doing well.
The part he left out was that he was doing well compared to expectations. He got a year after he got the diagnosis instead of a month, and most of it was good.
Now this story hits a lot harder.
