The whole story is that during the The Other story, he basically gives up on life and doesn't want to be The Man anymore, giving into the mystical The Spider entity. While wrapped in a web cocoon, the Venom symbiote leaves Gargan and finds Peter, bonding with him while he is in the cocoon. They basically become a single entity as the symbiote takes complete control and they cease being Peter or the symbiote and start referring to themselves as Poison.

When Poison goes to find MJ, to transform her into an entity like themselves, MJ tells the symbiote that Peter would never want that. Poison runs off and finds Gwen's corpse. It ends with Gwen's hand bursting out of the ground with a red symbiote effect (they don't show her whole body).

How can one anon be so wrong? Agent Venom was mostly interesting, and something for the symbiote to do while antivenom was going on. It didnt really strike me as addiction, like drug addiction, but more like dependency, like being dependent on pain killers. That might just be my personal experiences tinting my view since I have a family member going through something like that. Also, what i found engaging was that while Flash is ready to repent for his sins, everyone just pitties him now, and he feels empty outside of being a hero. This would cause a lot of people to be reckless, but then he finds mania who he has to be responsible for (because both its his villian that makes her an orphan and she has his symbiote).
