Yes. It will be good. Then, we'll be upset. However, when the movie is released and we see it, people will sadly say it is good.

The only problem (despite the terrible filters, silly cinematography, cheap effects, etc.) will be that it's part of the DCEU. It won't, however, be incredible.

But people will treat it as such. Cap this. YOu know it be true. It will make good money. Nothing icnredible, but the press will eat it up. Cap this.

C'mon. Do it. It's gonna get a good reception, and you all know it. The worst it'll be is minor controversy from acutal fans, but the public will DEVOUR IT.

I'm honestly very torn on the whole thing.

On the one hand, I want a DC movie that I can really enjoy.

On the other, I want it to succeed the right way. I'd rather it get over just for being a good movie, rather than "we need to support a female hero so we'll score well even if it's mediocre". I'd rather it fail than succeed for bad reasons.

Reddit is equally obsessed with RT scores. The RT score of a movie is gospel.

>>
Going by the reviews I've already ready, it'll range from 67% to 82%. From what I've gathered.

PROS

>Gadot and Pine are good and have great chemistry.
>Good performances from the supporting cast.
>Good atmosphere and cinematography.
>Good action scenes overall.
>Good humor akin to the Marvel style.
>Movie has a positive tone and a message about hope.

CONS

>The villains are underveloped and uninteresting, particularly Ares.
>The Amazons and Steve's squad are underdeveloped.
>Minor pacing issues.
>The third act is overblown with cutscene-like CGI-ladden action.
>The plot twist has upset feminists.
>>
>>92800158
It's a review aggregator, there's nothing wrong with it. It's like Metacritic, pretty much. People who have made a meme of it don't understand the point of the site.
>>
>>92800743
>>The villains are underveloped and uninteresting, particularly Ares.

Given how MCU get constant praise, a weak villain is a non-issue
>>
>>92799420
Most likely high 80s low 90s because of the subject matter. I bet it'll realistically be a 60s-70s movie though.

As much as I would hate it, I'll laugh pretty hard if it settles in the 30s.
>>
And so the question still remains... will critics' favoritism of a female led superhero movie in this political climate overpower the critics' usual dislike of DCEU schlock?

The answer soon...
>>
>>92800816
>if
you mean "when"
>>
>>92800816
>80s low 90s
Nah, it'll be in the 70s, tops. I'd bet it'll get between 55-70.
>>
>>92800816
It won't go that low. It simply won't because of feminism. I know I sound like "muh bogeyman" but gender representation has never been more of a hot button issue than it is now.
>>
>>92800848
Further, will /co/'s hate of SJW's surpass their love for the DCEU? I think it will.
>>
>>92800806
"All Marvel villains are bad" is a meme.

But then again, Zod is the DCEU's only good villain so far. Unless you count Amanda Waller, then they have two.
>>
You know what? Just for shits and giggles, I predict it will get within the same critical and audience scores for Ghostbusters 2016, affording let's say a give point margin of error.

I truly don't understand why anyone would care that much about what some reviewer, or review site, has to say. Either you want to see it, or you don't.

Who honestly considers going to see a movie, but then makes a decision not to because of a review?
>>
>>92801747
Most people don't have unlimited funds and don't want to see a movie if it's shit and so waste their money. This is especially true for families. If a family with kids is going to end up spending near $100 a trip to the movies they will end up going once instead of multiple times like single people or couples can do.

They use reviews to help determine if their money is going to be well spent.

How did you not already understand this?

I miss when universes weren't franchises and each character was their own franchise.

The fact that this season's whole tone and feeling were totally different than the old Jack doesn't help. I actually never knew it needed an ending, and after seeing the one we got, I still don't think it did. Really, if Genndy wanted to do cartoons again he could have just made a new one. Guess that Jack's his character, so he can do whatever he wants with him (plus no new title wouldn't be so hyped, and made as much money), but I think that we can agree that, for good or bad, this season wasn't really trying that hard to be just like the original. And the ripped off ending... Just...

MCUfag checking in!
I'm torn. It would be morbidly funny for it to fail. DC is batting zero for me so far and yet another dumpster fire would just be oh-so validating.

BUT. I love comics. I love the characters from both the Big Two. I love how there are WW toys in stores. It's a great time for fans of these things to see big budget film treatments of character that truly deserve that kind of attention.
I really want Wonder Woman to be good. I don't like watching things I end up hating. And with each turd DC drops, they hasten the fall of the comic book movie fall which I still feel has too much potential to let die yet.

I don't care if it's a rehash of Superman 1978 and The First Avenger. Just please dont let it be offensively stupid like Suicide Squad or a try-hard misfire like MoS or BvS....

There's no way they cant get a positive score now. The Alamo women's screening is the ingredient for unwarranted success that WW needed: controversy. There was nothing going on with WW until then. Yes but nowhere as much as /v/ at least which have pretty much 24/7 console war threads.

I think it may have to do with two reasons.
1. Unlike gaming where to play all games, you need to buy different platforms, all the major cartoon shows (bar the Netflix ones) are on channels which are almost always paired together in cable plans. Kinda the same thing with comic books which you can buy seperately or on a series based subscription plan.
2. Until very recently, the cartoon channels had a very specific pecking order that was never trully disrupted. The different gaming platforms (bar the Xbox), on the other hand, have advantages and disadvantages that make them of about equal or close to equal quality.

I don't claim RT is biased. I claim that people don't actually read reviews and/or follow reviewers they like/have similar tastes. Instead people want to be able to look at two digits and decide whether the film will be good or not based on that.

For example you could watch a movie which has a 99% on Rotten Tomatoes, and you could still find the movie unenjoyable because that 1% of criticism has similar tastes to you. And alternatively you could watch a movie which has a 1% on RT and still enjoy the fuck out of that film for similar reasons.

But thanks to laziness and groupthink people think the tomato meter can actually tell if a film is objectively good or not, which is a retarded premise in itself as art can never be objectively good or bad as its merits are entirely subjective.

Personally I'm hyped as shit for Wonder Woman, I've enjoyed every DCEU movie thus far barring Suicide Squad which is a fucking dumpster fire of a movie.

I predict a 50% score at least.

Regardless of how bad Wonder Woman is I doubt it will be received worse than Suicide Squad or Snyder's films were.
People don't care about Wonder Woman as a character, they care about what she stands for (muh female empowerment and whatnot). She is not popular, she is iconic. As long as the movie has enough sequences of Gal Gadot flying around and punching men in the face, people are going to be fine with it. She can't act for shit, the movie looks terrible, but who cares ?
Do you really see people getting up in arms because of a Wonder Woman movie like they did with BvS or MoS ? Of course not. The only people that care are DCtards who've been praying for a critical success since MoS and the people that genuinely want this movie to fail so they can mock them and DC. Audiences don't care.
Not to mention the whole "if you don't like it you are sexist" thing. Feminism is the driving force behind this movie and everyone knows it.

Really, it's guaranteed to be at least a 50% on RT. It could be Catwoman-tier for all we know but it's definitely getting a higher score than the last DC movies based on these factors.
And for the DCEU children that spam this board with their company wars, a 50% is enough reason to yell KINO and MARVELFAGS BTFO.

I mean, by all means I'd love a good DC film for once. This year has been full of surprises when it comes to film and I'd love for the DCEU to get their shit together for once.
But I know better than to have this kind of expectation.

Anon, people have been making money out of bad movies since the birth of cinema.
I sincerely doubt that this mega corporation is going to stop making bad movies as long as they can bring in profit, and they always make money because it is statistically impossible for them to not do so.
It's the business strategy in modern film and it's also part of the reason why Pixar declined, and why Michael Bay is swimming in money despite his movies being trashed by critics.

I'd love for them to actually feel threatened enough to give a shit and put more effort into their movies but we know that this is not happening.

Not arguing about whether feminism is used as a bogeyman to affect what rating critics give this movie, but are you honestly claiming that Wonder Woman, a member of DC's trinity and a Golden Age comic book character is only getting a movie made because of feminism? Not because Wonder Woman is a popular and iconic character?

Sure she isn't as popular or iconic as Batman, Superman, or Spider-Man, but she still sells more comics and merc than Iron Man who was only made popular because of RDJ.
>>
>>92807824
I don't see how DC could fuck up on that with Wonder Woman unless they do something like making her give up her powers to become a housewife, or having to be rescued by the Chris Pine character, or whatever. And since Chris Pine is there for comic relief and to reaffirm how stronk and empowered Gal Gadot is I don't see that happening.

But then again, I should learn to not underestimate DC's ability to fuck up their cinematic universe.

No, that isn't what I said at all.
I specifically mean in the sense that feminism is one of the things that is going to be a safety net for this movie to fall on, and that appealing to a feminist audience is one of the primary reasons why this movie is being made, since Wonder Woman is all about female empowerment.
And thus, this is one of the reasons why this movie will not be received as poorly as the last DC movies regardless of how terrible it is (especially considering they don't have to care much about the source material since most people only care about Wonder Woman as a female Superman and feminist symbol, and not what she actually is as a character).

To be fair Patty Jenkins has been really adamant about wanting to do an origin story as she likes them for superhero stuff and Wonder Woman's origin isn't that set in stone (because they keep making new ones) other than growing up on Paradise Island, Steve Trevor crashes there, she rescues him and goes to man's world with him.

Curiously though what origin/source would you like them to have gone with for Wonder Woman?

That's not really accurate. Zeus and Hippolyta had a love child before he died. Diana was the last gift from the gods. She could also protect the Amazons if they needed because only a god could kill a god. But the Amazons never intended for that to really happen until Antiope insisted on training her in secret so she could defend herself from Ares in case he ever found her. They were content with staying on Themysceria and living in peace.

Yeah, they're bringing the worst thing about mainstream American comics that has kept the medium from growing for a very long time to cinema, so they can disregard content and creativity to push continuity and brand loyalty, and churn out more and more mediocre products only to get a singular creative voice from time to time (like James Gunn).
This just fucking sucks.

At least I'm glad that apparently this movie focuses on telling its own story, with only some very superficial connections to the other DC films.

I will never forgive Marvel for cucking Edgar Wright out of Ant-Man.
These superhero movies will never be great unless they let the director insert his own vision in the project instead of having a board of executives mandate everything.
Everyone loves and remembers the Raimi Spider-Man movies and the Burton Batman movies years later precisely because of this.

I mean, I gotta give it to DC, they at least give Snyder the freedom to crap all over his projects.

Superhero movies don't have vision anymore.

>>
>>92808563
I don't think you understand how movies are made.

Zack and Deborah Snyder are rich as fuck. They go to WB, the distributor, and say "we'll pay you to let us make some DC movies", WB goes "OK, let's make a contract that you give us this much money up front and a percentage of the box office, and we'll distribute it for you and let you use the IP".

WB doesn't give a shit how successful it is as long as they get their money because they distribute tons of movies every year.

Then Zack/Deborah and their production company, Cruel and Unusual Films, get producers on board, hire writers, directors, actors, and crew (yes, Snyder hired HIMSELF), make a film and deliver it to WB, who then distributes it to theaters.

Every single aspect of the movie is completely under the control of the production company, which is owned by the Snyders.

WB then hopes to make a return on their investment, which they have with every movie so far. Most likely they have a longterm contract with Snyder's production company specifying a certain number of films. Most likely at the end of this contract they will negotiate a new one, in which WB will ask for more money, which Snyder will be able to provide because he's rich and these movies have made a lot of money.

The only person who can fire Zack Snyder is Zack Snyder.

And to extend this to how Marvel operates:

Marvel Studios is the production company behind the MCU, the difference is they are fully owned by Disney.

Kevin Feige does not own Marvel Studios, he is hired by them to oversee the films.

He advises Marvel Studios on what directors and writers to hire, then works closely with them to develop the films.

This is how most large corporate production companies work. Disney is very insular and controlling. WB doesn't really care as long as they get their money.

If you've ever heard about executives meddling with projects? It's the people who own the production company trying to protect their investment or act like they're creative geniuses. Not random people at WB.

Both series of Batman films worked this way.

Snyder's films can be seen as one massive ego project. You have the guy that OWNS the company also trying to write and direct most of the movies they make. Unless you're some kind of auteur like Tarantino this is usually a very bad idea, because nobody can say "no" to you.

no you fucking idiot, WB approached Snyder to make the movies.

Goddamn why are you so retarded

http://www.craveonline.com/site/515353-exclusive-interview-deborah-snyder-talks-man-of-steel-and-easter-eggs
Deborah Snyder: We met the Nolans on a plane going to CinemaCon when they were there for Inception, we were doing [Legend of the] Guardians, and we never met them before. Yet we were both husband and wife team at the same studio and people kept saying, “Oh you guys have to meet.” So we had a really nice conversation of the plane and we said, “Listen when everything calms down we gotta get a meal together.” So a couple months after that we got a call and Chris [Nolan] had said, “Hey, do you guys want to come over for lunch and grab that meal, and would you mind if we talked to you about Superman?” Zack got off the phone and we were like… [Gasps]! And I said “I don’t know, Zack. I don’t know how…” And he was such a fan of the character, he had different trepidations, right? His trepidation was, “I don’t know how to do this character justice. I’m not sure I know how to do that.” And I was like. “I don’t know how you make him accessible to a modern audience.” But we said, sure we’ll come and listen and they pitched us the idea that Chris and [David] Goyer had for the story. We really felt that they had an in into making him relatable, into making you care about him. But of course we wanted to read the script because the pitches are usually better than the script, and we were so pleased when we read the script. It was a really great way of getting at him.

The PG-13 rating was usually for movies made with the teenage demographic in mind so they could get away with a lot of things that weren't gore or on-screen sex scenes, nowadays it's the rating for family movies, PG and G are for babies.

Allegedly the Janet Jackson situation in the Super Owl made the entertainment industry more wary about kids and teens watching unappropriated stuff due to parents' complains.

They did, actually.
But this was before Batman being opposed to murder was an actual cornerstone of his character and not just something the CCA forced into him. Back in his earliest days, when he was a Shadow knockoff, he was killing enemies left and the right, and the movie was based on that period.
And plus, Tim Burton thinks murder is funny, and so these scenes were mostly meant to be humorous.

The Director's Cut should've been released in Theaters. It's insane how much those extra scenes actually helped the movie.
>>
Sounds like a pretty safe movie.

The directors cut of BvS added absolutely nothing of value.

It was bad movie dude,
>>
It seems like people only like this because it's the first female superhero movie and it wasn't totally grim dark?

Not much praise for acting or story which is worrying me.
>>
>>92811579
>The final battle looks very much like Wonder Woman’s first onscreen foray—i.e., the Doomsday battle in Batman v Superman—complete with the hero and villain simultaneously fighting and flying in the dark.
The Doomsday fight was shit though.
>>
I mean let's be real here. If the scores are overall positive, people will say it's that the critics were afraid of being called sexist like with Patriarchybusters. And if it's bad, we'll get the usual DCEU DOOMED rhetoric. So either way, it's fucked.

How many of you are serious and how many of you are funposting

What about the Mystique movies? Isn't she a superhero in he movies and also a female? Isn't she also the first LGBT superhero on film

Everybody is praising Gadot. But yes, they mostly refer to the light hearted tone and GURLL POWAH as to why it was good.

It's time for diehard DC fans to admit RT was right.

sounds exactly like a Marvel movie to me

I'm actually laughing so hard at the fact that MCU shills, of all people, are hating on this movie for "playing it safe"

Nobody cares about Fox or JLaw and that was a team movie.

It would be so easy to have characters call her Wonder Woman. She shows up, joins the war effort and saves the day with her demi-god powers.

It'd make perfect sense for the soldiers to come up with a nickname for her.

>Gal Gadot’s Diana is her best performance to date, blending the kindness, power, and innocence needed for the iconic character. Her story is very clean and very aggressively paced, peppered with lots of action, just the right amount of mythology, and—for the first time in a DCEU film—a lot of humor. Gadot’s Diana and Pine’s Steve are as comfortable and fun together on screen as you could hope. The banter is smart and playful. Diana’s fish-out-of-water situation is executed beautifully, but Gadot never lets her fierce subtext slip away.

>By the time Trevor assembles his team and brings Diana to the front lines of World War I, it’s impossible not to be totally enamored with her. Watching Diana, Steve, and their team fighting the war is certainly cool, but the real-life historical context gives Wonder Woman an agency both Man of Steel and Batman v Superman have lacked. The story escalates the stakes... well, wonderfully, not just for the characters but for the world.

seems like she was good

What?

The male lead dies and the main heroine decides to give up. I would definitely say it's closer to grim dark than light/optimism.

The movie actually is pretty dark but there still is the message of hope and love

Nope. I'm not making an opinion about this movie until I watch it.

Because, you know, I'm an adult and a freeman and can form my own opinions.

Hyped for it though. Have been hyped since the first trailer, was a little apprehensive because I wasn't sure if Patty Jenkins could direct action, but the first trailer informed me that she could.
