I got this issue at a yard sale.
It will be valuable someday.
Skipping #8 because it's a mostly text issue that puts some people to sleep but it's in the Dropbox

Byrne's WW run is getting hardcovers in time for the movie
This was a complete reinvention of the Cheetah, who before this was literally just a lady in a costume.
>>92675970
Speaking of, when are you going to run Byrne's run, Texas? You've been mentioning it for a while.
>>92675970
Yeah, meanwhile the second Perez paperback reprint still isn't out yet.
>>92676004
I suppose I could do it soon, it's just exceptionally boring for the first ten issues or so.
Based Myndi.
>>92676047
>still isn't out yet.
Got to push that omnibus first. Looks like DC is finally going to put out paperback's of Simonson's Orion 2 years after the omni, maybe they will have actually fixed the order
Byrne's run is basically a lot of ideas without any kind of compelling story to tie them all together.
And also Byrne uses it as a vessel to do a bunch of bad Demon retcons.
>Well, I showed you mine...
This is why Perez's Diana is so beloved. She's so sweet and sensitive, not naive but naturally trusting and optimistic.
And I think Rucka's new run captured that pretty well, especially in Year One, which is odd because I'd say his first run was one of the worst in terms of Diana being a bit cold and stern.
>>92676131
I refuse to believe no one lied on Themyscria.
>>92676159
I actually imagine after 3000 years living together it'd be pretty hard to hide much from each other.
>>92676165
All this ceremony, yet by Infinite Crisis she wanders around in full cheetah like it's normal.
Not to say that nobody did lie, but they probably got tired of any kind of squabbling long ago.
>>92676239
I liked that Steve and Etta became a couple.
>>92676233
Later on in this run she actually overuses the Cheetah too much and becomes able to transform without the ceremony, but it makes her even more feral.
Basically Perez uses three main villains in his 62 issues: Cheetah, Silver Swan, and Circe, who each get a complete character/developmental arc.
Ares and his kids and one surprise villain I'm not gonna spoil don't get arcs, though.
>>92676273
I'm not really into it but what I dislike more is that both Steve and Etta are sidelined and made pretty bland in this run.
Good artists can do so much with Cheetah's fighting style.
I don't know who's Texas and who's Saxet anymore.
>>92676351
>that bottom middle panel
wew
>>92676388
>RRRAARRGH??
Quickscoped
>>92676419
Oh what a surprise, Wonder Woman needed help to beat the bad guy.
>>92676441
She gets out of jams because she's got friends
One of the few covers before 2003 to feature Wonder Woman brandishing a weapon on the front.Yes, I've counted them, it was for a paper
>>92676447
Wakefield and Martha's Vineyard are on opposite ends of the map.
>>92676529
Time for the "Zeus wants to get his dick wet" arc.
Happy Diana is best Diana.
>>92676547
Sadly he wouldn't even be any more discouraged if Diana WAS his daughter.
>>92676507
Was that published somewhere? I remember seeing mention of a study where people looked at if she had a weapon or not on the cover.
It's impossible to search for now because of the movie news
I always like to get these little glimpses into the politics of Themyscira.
>>92676585
No clue, I literally went through the covers month by month and counted them up for a college paper once.
>Diana, grab my dick
Worshiping shitty gods is a theme of this run.
Zeus gets put in the cosmic doghouse
For all its faults, the Perez run is hard to be mad at because of Diana's characterization. She's just such a dang sweetheart.
>>92675950
I bought it new off of the spinner rack
>>92676691
But anon being sweet and loving is sexist
A woman can only be empowered by being hard and unemotional
>>92676084
And his weird New Gods stuff
>>92676799
He at least kept the retcons to his Jack Kirby's Fourth World series and his shitty Genesis event but yeah the New Gods show up repeatedly in his Wondie for no reason whatsoever, including in the very first fucking issue.
The eyes look like Sweet Bro
>Diana plays Dragon's Lair
Dat art
>>92676762
>>92676775
>there are people who actually think kindness is weakness
Look, I'm just as cynical and jaded as anyone here, but anyone who holds such a toxic attitude needs to have the stupid slapped out of them. The world is enough of a trash heap without edgelord bullshit like that.
>>92676938
Memories of Herc's Adventure, and Discworld.
The "Wonder Woman fights some monsters" thing is pretty overdone but I get what the point is here.
A wall made of the ghost mask from Scream
>>92676997
I want to know the relationship between this Morpheus and Sandman Morpheus.
>>92676997
What else is she going to fight?
Diana fights Knuckles the Echidna
>>92677084
At the time there was none, Sandman wasn't until a few years later.
In continuity Greek Morpheus is an aspect of the Sandman, like how Hades is an aspect of Death.
>>92676529
Somebody buy Zeus a pair of pants, so he can keep his dick in them.
>>92676664
>Worshiping shitty gods is a theme of this run.
It's a common theme of pretty much every run. And it's why I hate the Olympians so much.
Y'know, people are always ignorantly going on about how allegedly flawless the Amazons are. Know what, faggots? Here's one: THEY WORSHIP THE GREEK GODS. Like holy shit, ladies, what in the actual fuck is wrong with you?
>>92677122
But Morpheus was imprisoned at the time.
So Echidna is like Catdog, but like... Snakeperson?
>>92677170
>That I loved you...
Oh!
>That I loved you all.
Oh.
One of my favorite sequences in the entire run
:o
>>92676642
>THUNDERBOOOOOOOOOOOLTS
>>92677250
Steve's mom is fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine.
I counted this as a weapon cover even though it's really just meant to be symbolic.
>>92677265
Don't tell yet!
;_;
So Steve would be about 75 today.
>>92677426
More Jason and the Argonauts
I've got two more issues to do and about twenty minutes before I have to go, so I'm gonna be trying to get through these quickly.
>>92677519
>>92677507
>>92677495
This should have been its own issue, not a couple of pages!
And now Diana runs off to go participate in a crossover event.
>>92677539
Sadly I don't think it ever really gets retold anywhere, it's a plot element not many brought up afterwards
Moving right along.
Ferdinand's just trying to hug you, Di!
>>92677583
And now it's been retconned out of existence.
>>92676938
This is Pan's Fetish.
>>92677609
Never coming back ;_;
>>92677661
From what I understand everything is Pan's fetish, isn't it?
>running on Heracles' dick
I love how Perez can draw Diana's facial expressions. Only one who can compare is Nicola Scott, IMO.
Oh, and Jill Thompson, but she draws her face a lot cuter.
Now that I think about it, this is probably the most mythology focused arc of the run.
There's the Ares arc, Challenge of the Gods, then the Boston thing, and I guess the last one is War of the Gods
Unfortunately I gotta be going now, so this last issue will be autodumping.
Thanks for reading, folks!
