It turns out it was Flug's all along.

The character designs really aren't that terrible. Sure, they look like they're straight out of mid-2000s deviantart, but that's part of the charm. The only design I can see being the most objectively unappealing may be Dementia's, if only for the overcomplicated accessories.

Black Hat has Dr. Flug develop an internet virus that will turn off the safe search on all search engines across the web keeping the world's heroes preoccupied with this unfightable foe whilst villains are free to do as they please. But in his pitch to sell this virus via video to the highest bidder Dr. Flug accidentally activates it as part of the demonstration. Suddenly the TV-PG rating in the corner of the screen begins to skyrocket to a fictive TV-XXX and the villainous team scrambles to undo the damage before their show is cancelled. Using VR headsets Flug leads them all into the Web where they must chase down the Virus. In the process they run across 505's disturbing activity on an anime political image board (The only image shown being a screenshot of drones hovering around an isolated flag in the woods), Flub's disturbing internet browser history ("Kittens?!") and Demencia's catalog of worrisome fanfictions ("What is 'Flubhat'?"). Lastly they find the core of the virus hiding in Black Hat's dating profile on Eldritch Singles in the deep web which is nothing but Zalgo text artifacts and maddening truth speak. Unfortunately everyone's eyes have turned black and begun weeping black oil (except for Black Hat and Demencia) leaving Black Hat no choice but to delete his profile on Eldritch singles. In the end the whole sum of their efforts registers as nothing but a failed amateur hacker attempt briefly covered on the news. Obviously displeased Black Hat changes the channel to 'Wolf News' where the event is being reported as the "cyber terrorism event of the century", obviously satisfied he leans back into his chair while Demencia and Flug fight over the remote.

Keep in mind this is a Mexican-based production, and Mexico has only just recently been trying to come back from a severe slump in their animation industry. A lot of the people working on this also worked on that Top Cat CG movie because of how small the pool is right now.

If CN can get their studio to take off, it's probably going to open the way for a lot of people.

Because this stands out style-wise from other cartoons lately.

Villianous is trying to push for a more earlier 2000s Billy & Mandy-esque design versus the tons of mroe soft-colored, more down to earth shows.

The fact that is different makes it more appealing.
