Whoops. I'm going back on Wednesday but might have to duck by tomorrow to grab that.

I'm pretty close to done on this one. SAI's been fucking up so that I can't save PNGs directly anymore, so I've been converting from the PSDs, which works alright but is a bit of a jerry-rig.

>>
>>92427941
I was saying I WASNT that anon he was replying to.

the second one was made cause the server owner didn't like webcomic land.

I don't like webcomic land as well so I joined this one.

I don't know why that anon is trying to shill the server when we have a fine population right now, but I do wish pet posting wasn't the only active channel so I guess the shilling is fine.
>>
>>92428079
I guess wcl became a bit draconian, I remember when Scribbs got the hammer, we all voted for it, then I heard dewd got banned without even asking the rest, and who knows how many others, I was long gone by then, I'm sure I'm banned too.

Is the other private too?
>>
>>92428135
it isn't private, the link just isn't posted to much.

This is one of the main reasons I don't talk much in social media (Discord)... no offense to webcomic land (I usually lurk to find interesting pieces of art to look at) and the other place well I just don't know if I should bother joining...

I feel if I start chatting on these servers and spend too much time there, that I'll spend less time actually getting better at my craft...

thinking I ignore/hate crit is retarded
It helps me make my comics better, I redrew days of work just
cause someone here thought it could be better, I have the screenshots of their posts
because what they said has pushed me through not having motivation to redo this fucking page.

I left because that chats members made what I have done to be a waste of time
I've spent months locked away in my room drawing these stupid pictures
trying to make something I could be proud of/enjoy reading.
when I got here, I was drawing circles on top of triangles.
A year and a half later, I can actually be somewhat proud of what ive created.

but then the conversation would come up
>it would start with someone criticizing the art
>Id explain where that problem came from, someone would say i'm not handling crit right, even though id say I would try to fix it
>more and more people would pile up and try to tell me i'm doing it wrong,
>then they would tell me I haven't improved since day one, some saying I've gotten worse

I love what I work on, I've never put more thought into anything than Pam, and Hiroes story
I do it to pass my time, I do this cause I want to make stuff I think is cool.
I hate my life, but drawing keeps me doing.
I'm proud of it.
before I left that chat, I couldn't feel proud of any of it.

fuck anyone in that chat, or in this general who thought It
was okay to make this last year out to be completely worthless
>>
>>92424841
I got the protagonist and antagonist created, to adegree. Now I just need a story. I'm thinking of doing something Samurai Jackish with a technologically achronic setting.
>>
>>92429522
mate, a hug and a kiss don't make an artist draw better.
a slap on the face to reality and a drawing guide does.
Take me for example, im Vutiendung. few month ago, I couldn't even draw right.
I have no style
I can't draw anatomy right
No one like my stuff
Zero fanart
Can't paint a decent background
and I have no understanding of the color theory whatsoever.
but after criticism, I take it and learn from it rather than think people hate me.
Now I can draw even better than before and it only took few months.
I got fanart
I can draw muscle, fat, thin, short and tall people
I was able to get a style of my own
I can draw and design costume and make money out of it
I was able to paint and get a better understanding of colors.
And all that was accomplished by listening to what other have to say and not just dismissed it. Mabel, you got potential, don't waste it like this, come back to WCL, I and the rest will glad to have you back and would help you improve, if you need encouragement, we will give you.
And my friend, don't hate on your life, you got talent, and you should be proud of it, but you can make it even better than before, just listen and learn, I promise you, you will become better than before and when you look back, you will not regret swallowing your pride.
>>
>>92429522
>then they would tell me I haven't improved since day one, some saying I've gotten worse

Are you just trying to get a pity party? That never happened, I even specifically remember telling you that you had made a lot of good improvement, also if you had not wanted critique you could've said pls don't crit me guys I'm working on it, because we're trying to help each other get better by giving constructive criticism but no instead you would get really rude to most the members.

Inb4 h8r, I dont hate you strawbles I just wish you would stop being a spaz when it came to critique and advice, you could get really good and it seems leaving helped so good for you, but seriously stop the full muh webcomicland boogeyman thats middle school shit.

A bit of a problem /co/. I really want to draw my comic. I really do and can. But. I want to write shojo animu shit because ive actually liked some shoujo ive read in the past. And holy fuck, i cringe at every single panel i put down. Last night, i finished only 4 panels, and needed to lie down in bed and to reflect upon how cringy and weebish it was.

How do i get over this? I still like the overrall plot of my story. But just the beginning, makes me want to cry like I have to be drunk while drawing it.
>>
>>92430099
He's somewhat correct, you have to be willing to get harshly criticized in art.

Man learns from his mistakes and the experience of others. To be honest I haven't been harshly critiqued on here that's why I know that I need to get better.
>>
>>92430176

Congratulations retard, your shitty anime ripoff style got a little bit more refined over an entire fucking year. Its still the same, the glaring issues still exist.

I hope your new hugbox will see through your bullshit like everyone else does. All you did is prove my point.
>>
>>92430176

There's nothing that says you have to be all-or-nothing for one particular style or story or method of delivering your imagery to your readers.

Frankly, while I love anime and manga myself, I find I'm also disenfranchised with an awful lot of it. Sugary sweet moe bullshit is generally awful..

So take some of the elements you do like, and try to combine them with elements from other styles/methods of story telling to make it fit better.

People tend to forget that that is what storytelling is about. Making something your own and telling a story you want to tell, out of the things you like. Not making a 1:1 of something that already exists, or pulling whatever shit you think no one else has ever done before just in an effort to hope someone hasn't done it before.

Working on concept piece about a community of little people (think Borrowers/Littles) that's devastated by the rotting corpse of a "fallen God." I want to set some hard limits on this one when it comes to size, format, and length. Maybe 100 pages or so max.
>>
>>92428135
wow, Scribs got perma'd?
>>
>>92432310
interesting but maybe a bit too similar to beautiful darkness?

also if that's the corpse in the background then the eye shouldn't be pointing in that direction, i think. it's not glazed enough.
>>
>>92432627
Beautiful Darkness is a bit of inspiration, and the shot is totally stolen from End of Evangelion, but narratively it's closer to Gulliver's Travels. The little people are wandering refugees and along the way run into thinly veiled allegories of modern day racism, nihilism, xenophobia, and bureaucracy.
>>
>>92432728
i'd have to see the full story to judge it but probably but honestly so far i have no reason to expect it'd be anything but a beautiful darkness clone. so perhaps think of a better way to introduce this.
>>
>>92432768
The only similarities are a human corpse and little people.

But honestly I am not worried about being thought of as a clone, ripoff, whatever. A lot of stories start off similar, it's the journey that separates them. Like every cyberpunk looks like Blade Runner in the opening scenes.
>>
>>92432890

Bottom left isn't terrible for the style you've got going on, but you should start by studying art a bit more seriously and practicing more. I'd suggest Hampton's book on figure drawing, or Draw a Box if you want to start from the absolute basics.

Also, you should probably invest in a tablet if you don't have one.

thanks for the advice.

>>
>>92433881
Yeah, that definitely won't cut it. A nice quality intuos tablet will only run you about 100 bucks, but it'll definitely be worth it if you're serious about drawing a webcomic. A lot of people will tell you that you HAVE to start by studying realism, and that's certainly true if you want to see the best results, but honestly you can just keep drawing what you enjoy as long as you learn the proper foundations of construction and anatomy. In my experience, learning as you go and then focusing your studies on the areas you're lacking in is infinitely more enjoyable than grinding on fruit for a year.

Note that this isn't giving you the go ahead to just draw chibi stuff forever, but for you to start incorporating what you learn into your art gradually as your eyes become better trained to spotting your mistakes.

If you're in the middle of an ongoing serial that had the last part end in a cliffhanger: a big one.

If it's individual self-contained gag strips with low continuity and any storylines have wrapped up: not at all.

If you're all out of ideas for Old Thing and are bursting with enthusiasm for New Thing, then go and do New Thing.

They're fine when you're writing in kanji which is read vertically. Not in English, which is read horizontally.

>>92438754
looks fine to me
>>
>>92438803
It's not necessarily the vertical shape of the bubble themselves but the execution. The vertical bubbles cause the words to be as low as one per line which confuses most English readers. We're not used to reading vertically. It slows us down. They could make the font smaller and it could work out.
>>
>>92438938
Eh, personally I can read it just fine. I don't think it's nearly as big of an issue as you're making it out to be.

this

By all means if you've planned out a great panel and there's no room left for anything but a vertical bubble, go for it. But don't go out of your way to do it, and don't use the excuse of another writing system using it, that doesn't wash.

or hey, if you just WANT to, yknow, own that. I'll back you up.

I usually make overly dark stuff but this is a webcomic about a cat and a fox living on a hut in the middle of an ocean. They will go on adventures soon.
I can't draw if my life depended on it so I keep it as naive and simple as possible. I make it in Paint.

allow someone who isnt that guy to give an unbiased review:
it's just FUN. it's a taste of saturday mornings in the early to mid 00s when every channel had a few toyetic anime they'd gotten the license for, and you were trying to piece together how their universe worked, since the internet wasn't really that good at telling you yet.
the action is great, the comedy is effective without being cliche, and so far the pacing is alright. and yeah the update schedule is super impressive

Reminder that the more lines you add to a woman's face, the older she looks. You should also try to round it out a lot more in the future if you're going for a more typical image of beauty. A squareish man-jaw would work fine if you're going for a brutish warrior woman though. Also, shrink the eyes. they're too big for the style you have going. You shouldn't mix anime with pseudo-realism/caricature. Overall nice improvements though!

Finished my piece for the newly released issue of Premier Comics (Which you should read at http://premiercomics.com/archives/1414) and got some feedback from the recent dump of the issue on here that my entry seemed sort of unpolished and unremarkable, which I feel is fair.

At this point I suppose I need to figure out a way to ramp up the work I'm doing while being able to produce it within a reasonable timeframe...Anyone have any experience with this? I'm planning on launching this as a webcomic sometime over the next few months and being able to produce content within a reasonably short span of time is going to be a big factor.

Regardless, most people are in there to have a good time between working on their comic, art or writing.

I feel weird answering this about my own comic because since it's mine, I can't really give you a truly honest answer because I'm too close to it.

But here goes; it's an homage to the stuff we grew up watching in the late 90's and early 2000's mixed with saturday morning cartoons and shounen manga. It's literally everything we like. (We being the artist and myself.)

What does /co/ think of this webcomic?

A boy falls in love with a girl.

Unable to confess, he is gifted by a deus ex machina with the girl's phone number. Never minding the strange area code, he immediately calls her, and is overjoyed to find out that she has a crush on him as well.

But, the next day, when he recounts the previous day's confessions to the girl, she only looks at him with a perplexed expression. After some investigation, he finds out that the girl he called is not the same girl he fell in love with. In fact, she doesn't exist in this universe at all. She is the girl's alternate universe counterpart, who has fallen in love with the MC's own AU self, who too is blissfully unaware of her crush.

Hijinks ensue as the two strike up a deal to give each other their darkest, most private secrets in order to equip the other with the weapons they need to conquer the heart of their other selves. While the two chase their respective loved ones, DRAMA ensues as they begin to fall in love with each other instead and question the NATURE of LOVE.

trying to make a basic "shape" for my comic's Logo. Trying to decide on a subheading for it as well. So far I got.

-Vegabond: Cracking the Omnisphere
-Vegabond: Sphere of influence
-Vegabond: Initiation

If you have any ideas that would pertain to snakes, outer space, all seeing eyes, black holes, spheres, illuminati, a villain named GRAWLLUX, starting a new way of life or polar opposites I'd like to hear them.

I would just call it "vegabond" but I have a bit more planned for this universe and don't want any of them to be definitive or have a chronological order.
>>
>>92446820
I tend to zero in on a single thing, like a particular kind of collar or boots or something offbeat like capelets/caplets, and then make a note to myself to start integrating those into otherwise normal outfits. the best clothes are only partially offbeat.
>>
>>92447580

I've been posting stuff from my comic project Vegabond, and my animation project Forgotten Gaming. My username is Duplexide though and my narrative/mascot character is named Dupe. I used to use Duplex as a name on here before I solidified all that.

And as for the subheading the story is about a small group of people who run away from their homes in search of a better life among a sparse faction called the vegabonds that balances between two massive opposing factions with opposite agendas. The group's plans are ruined by a horrible snake like beast called Grawllux who much like them is trying to join a faction except his is much more malignant and evil and is a sort of space Illuminati that's trying to control everything through surveillance and time alteration.

So something that kind of ties into that rough plot is what I'm looking for.
>>

That background is for some partially animated game reviews I'm doing with the same visual aesthetic as the comic I have planned. It's called Forgotten Gaming and in it I'll be reviewing my immense collection of shareware and abandonware games from the 90s. After I get some kind of following for my art via the game reviews I'll be launching the Vegabond comic itself. It's a "quest" style comic that needs audience input so doing it before having any kind of significant readership would just be depressing.

I actually had to cut a page from the script right before I started working on this one.

The origional page 24 was just some stupid fanservice of Annabeth landing on Jack and noticing he has a boner. then awkwardly getting off of him. Either way, this is what page 25 would be. Right now, I've been told the chat is stale as fuck, that only a handful post their works, and the rest are just too busy blowing each other off.

I can't draw very well, I am much more of a writer than a penciler. Should I Marvel method some storyboards for people/artists or should I just focus on making good scripts? Some combination of both? What would you artist types rather get from a writer?
>>
>>92457775
If you're only a writer, don't storyboard anything. Let the artist read the script and see the page in their head. If something's not at all how you envisioned it, obviously you can ask them to change it, but trust the visual storyteller to know how to visually tell a story.
>>
>>92457909
I would do both. A comic book writer should know how to storyboard just like a cartoon writer should know how to storyboard.
>>
>>92458032
I've talked to an artist and they said they'd rather have storyboards so they know what exactly they're drawing, and it helps the writer so he can just draw the basics and imagine it in the artist's style.

I've read up on how Stan Lee and other people used the Marvel method to just make plot points and write the dialogue, then ship it off to an artist. I was wondering if I should do that and compliment it with page-by-page storyboards, and give that to an artist instead of a script?

The valleykin live beyond the boundary, where the grass is thick and predators roam. They find the nutkins too sentimental and the hillkin soft.

The hillkin live on the coast where they collect salt from the cliffs. Some claim they've seen gods in the distant, giants that number 30 littles tall or more. They're technologically advanced, "sophisticated," and care little for the simple folk who live in the trees and grass.

Alright then.

http://i.imgur.com/RCcotPe.jpg

I'm trying out that "Mobile Friendly" comic format, it's kind of weird, but i figured it'd be better to storyboard directly for it, instead of butchering a normal page to fit the vertical style.
Here's intro sequence from a very short story (about 10 pages) i'm working on, mostly as a technical test, as you can see it's a WiP (have to add balloons, as well as polish up some stuff, panel borders, color the outlines, etc).
Just posting to get some opinions.
>>
Good to know, then, here's what I did today. Hoping to wrap this one up soon.

http://i.imgur.com/yqsCNAB.png

>>92424841
My favourite page was from an older work (2008) called Selenite, which kinda started the introduction, and then pretty much stopped- In any case, in this page, both MCs mock a side character for being a computer/technology illiterate. I don't think it's my best work, or the funniest, but I love this page regardless.

http://img2.smackjeeves.com/images/uploaded/comics/4/d/8/4d8089a13jMo1.jpg

As for character, I'd say Leslie from my current work, but her shinier points come from lampshading Johnny's shittiness, so, without him, she'd be a pretty boring character, I guess.
>>
>>92459669
that's pretty fuckin' beautiful anon, evocative backgrounds+lighting are something i think go ignored in a lot of work, and the characters are easy on the eye

the kind of stock expressions take me out of the moment though
>>
>>92458215
The chozen- they keep tabs on which catagory of ghost that they are possesed by (usually catagorized by color) and they sometimes give them tasks to complete.

The dark guild- group of villians who are organized by how much of a threat they are (ranked from levels 1-10) and rank heroes they oberve and then match them up with a villian of the same rank to make the hero suffer as much as they can with out killing them for there dark lord who feeds off of suffering.
>>
>>92459669
Nice job! what's next? for making comics I mean.
>>
>>92459767
Oh, thanks.
By "Stock expressions" you mean the face she does when shot from below? Or just in general? I forgot to mention that the moment is supposed to be (as hinted at, by the last two panels, i guess) a bit of a parody of anime romance, the story is actually primarily action (which is why the title card is the way it is), so that's why i pushed a bit the "uguu" factor, but i don't know if that's what you meant.

Also, i should add that my usual style tends to be a tad more realistic, so i had to adapt a bit here (bigger heads, simpler shapes, and all that).
Some of those hands close ups are still a bit out of place, for that reason.
>>
>>92458215
Uhh.. well there's different kingdoms and stuff, but generally it's every man for himself.. carving out a niche in the world however he can.. there's adventurers handling quests of varying sizes, but there's also just mercenaries doing normal guard work for lower-level shit below that that doesn't qualify as a quest.. and then there's fuckin wizards and shit above both of those levels who take care of the major crazy cosmic whatnot so nobody else has to. then there's other planets.. and also hell.
>>
>>92459763

>Selenite
oh hey I really like this
>>
>>92460065
yeah, the shot from below, your style is great otherwise

i suppose if you're trying to use the classic "confession at sundown" scene with all the trappings, then it's fine. given that you're kind of segueing into some "N-NANI'-type reveal
>>
>>92454549
>telling dewd he's good

>>
>>92460005
You mean what i'm doing after this short story? I have a bunch of stories i was sitting on for a while, so i'll do one of those.
Before i jumped in them i wanted to test the pipeline with something lighter.
And i'm still not 100% sold on this vertical format thing.

You can do interesting "endless" vertical pans, but you lose a lot of things you could do on a regular page, too.

>>92460270
Yeah that's the idea, although i don't want it to sound like "lol, it's SUPPOSED to be bad!"
>>
>>92460188
I made a pixel sword, Duplicate its layer, move the lower layer down-left, unify the edges to give depth, and colour the lower layer all grey. I'm sure there are easier ways to do it, but that's what I came up with back then.

>>92460590

Yeah, like those. My original concept was that it was styled like a newspaper comic, and I figured this might be a good way to do it.
It's not so much that normal coloring is "difficult" for me per say, it's just that I'm not sure how to make it look less generic, since giving the color a bunch of shading/highlighting/detail looked really out of place when I tried it. Curse my cartoony drawing style.

One the one side is how I'd usually go about coloring it, and on the other was experimenting in photoshop, that being the best result I could get. Ignore the speech bubbles missing.
>>
>>92461389
it really doesnt go with color. especially this way, where it lightens everything.
if you are going to do tones, make it the way newspaper comics do, with the dots being one color and the background being another (it's amazing thinking that people used to have to do that by hand, cutting out each color shape)
>>
>>92461435
and also yknow thinking about the tone combinations they had available.

why is digital painting so hard anons?
>>
>>92467531
it's hard to get the blending settings right. There's two basic kinds you'd like: either soft mixing as if airbrushing, or a kind of smearing as if you were using thick paints. art programs dont seem to want to do the former, and the latter is hard to use anyway because you dont have sort of directional knife control, plus it's incredibly resource-intensive

i had a program whose painting ability was fucking great. I mean, I still have it.. but it's shit. but the painting was great.
>>
>>92458101
If the artist needs storyboards they're not a very good artist. In that case, you will probably have to do it for them.

There's a part early in Bakuman (basically an autobiography of the creators of Death Note) where they can't understand why the comic keeps coming out so bland. Eventually they work out it's because the writer is putting scribbles for how the page will look despite having no knowledge of composition, eye flow, perspective, etc. When he stops doing that and the artist tries just reading the script and seeing it in his head, it comes out more interesting.

I tried doing a paintover to give you some tips, hope you don't mind. The first thing I noticed about this painting was that you had a fairly limited value range, which can often result in your painting looking a bit muddy. Using a wider range of values can help make the forms of your subject clearer as well as help the whole composition pop better.
Secondly, I noticed you had some variance in your hue choices, though they were very limited. I honestly first though this painting was in greyscale when I first saw it because the hues are so desaturated and unvaried. if you're going to use color and not just greyscale, try varying up the hues some more to bring out the contrast between your highlights and shadows.
Lastly, you seem to be working with an unnecessarily small brush for some of this painting. Areas like the shading and the helmet and collar seem to have been scribbled in with a tiny brush. When painting, always work large to small, use large brushes to cover large areas, and go smaller and smaller as you fill in the details. If you use a small brush for everything your shading will look rather messy.

ironically the writer of Bakuman creates storyboards for that very manga. you can always make shots more efficient or interesting from the initial draft. a comic writer should be able to storyboard in my opinion, even if they and the artist decide to work the way you proposed. there are skilled illustrators that don't have comic specific knowledge. if you can board as a writer you will have better chances at finding a partner. you will also be able to review the flow, pacing and page composition. a comic writer who can't do that is not a partner i would want to work with
>>
>>92468410
>If the artist needs storyboards they're not a very good artist
I don't think that's a very hard and fast rule. some will work well with storyboards or thumbnails, while other won't depending on how the artist chooses to work, or like you mentioned, how well they are trained with composition, eye flow, perspective, etc.

>>92471085
you're good enough right now. you can draw serviceable 3/4ths characters. now it's time to work on various anatomical things, other poses, and all that, and all that. i already like these people
one thing is you're drawing arms slightly too short. remember, elbow is at the bottom of the ribcage, and hand is in the right position to masturbate. slightly below crotch level at your sides, which obviously shortens as the arm moves inwards because a diagonal distance is always longer than a direct distance, Billy!

Perspective is fun, you dirtbags, don't make it sound like a chore. Just go through perspective made easy, and once you get a feel for it, just draw by eye, don't measure out perspective lines every time you draw. You can experiment with it and have fun. For example I like to curve the lines coming from the vanishing points to make a psuedo-fisheye-lens thing.

this isnt much of a joke but it was a lot more boring before I inserted a lot of last minute dialogue that I think peps it up. plus that last panel had almost none of that in it until the last minute when I saw blank space and panic'd. almost asked you guys for advice. yknow for a COMIC strip, I often forget that random physical comedy is always welcome.

I'm actually pretty good with proportions but I've been slacking on figure drawing lately so I'm trying to get back into that. When I eventually finish a page everything will be way more refined.

The real thing I have trouble with is fight scenes/poses.

Have you tried just colouring in the sketch layer?
>>
>>92479502
If this was meant to be just a very rough sketch you'd then draw over, you went too hard with those lines, it'll be a bitch to see anything when you're done with everything.
Aside from that, i'd say just use a ruler next time, and maybe if you're feeling ambitious, try to apply a camera angle that requires a bit more perspective work, it's gonna be that much harder, but that's how you actually improve, by trying to do things out of your depth, and learning from the inevitable failure.

If this was supposed to be an imposing moment for example, a 3 point perspective with vertical lines converging upwards, would've sold it much better than a flat shot like this one.

Finished the lines for my space pirate. Looking for critique here, especially tips on line consistency and speed since this took way too long to finish. I gave her a simple outfit since I know she's going to be the pseudo main character and I'll be drawing her very often, but it still took me probably around 4+ hours just to finish this without even getting into colors.

Hmm, a little bit too big. Need to shrink down to 3-inches. I'm creating paper cutouts of my little people as size reference for drawing.

I'm probably not going to publish this as a scheduled webcomic. I'll just release finished pages here and there then post a huge chunk of them online when I'm confident I'll actually finish it.

How do you line your pieces right now? From the way each line seems to taper, it looks as though you're using the pentool + stroke. As for consistency, I think it looks good! Especially on the lapels of her coat and legs.
To quicken the pace of drawing, I would try changing a bit of her design. Maybe change the boxes on her utility belt into pockets. Does she really need the symbol on her shoulder? Maybe you can make it one flat color so you don't have to outline it.
>>

>>
>>92483514
Eh, maybe. A policy like that seems like it could fuck you over in the long run. A lot of creators seem to be jumping ship right now, though, and there's a lot of push back happening. I'm just sticking around for a while longer to see if Tapastic caves in and removes the policy to stop the backlash.

Here's a followup to read, with a lawyer's take on it:
https://twitter.com/AkivaMCohen/status/865232171258310656

Because I initially heard about this via cryptic comments with no adequate explanation: Tapastic have retroactively inserted a Right of First Refusal clause into their Terms of Service. If you want to sell the rights to your comic for whatever reason, you have to notify Tapastic, and they have 30 days to either make an offer to buy it from you or refuse, before you can sell those rights to someone else.

Do read around it, and dig up what information you can about what this means.
>>
>>92475979

Good on you!

Just finished writing a long ass word doc with all of my story/character notes, plot outlines, rough dialog to be punched up later, etc. Started doing a little bit of boarding myself earlier this morning.

Shame that it will all be total shit because I'm one of those ">tfw want to make a comic but I draw like a kindergartner with downs syndrome" fags, but I've got a bee in my bonnet and I'm determined to see it through. Worst case scenario, I never show it to anyone and I get a bunch of drawing practice in.

Still, don't give up. Follow your dreams, and rest assured that no matter how your comic turns out it will at least (probably) be better than mine!

In any case, once it's finished, I'll make sure to upload it to my now dead site, while I get back to work on that as well.

Just checking, but while I'm happy to wrap this crossovers up for good, I recall someone interested about them, but I forgot who, can't find the post, and I wasn't sure if they were actually asking me to join the fray or not. I'm probably getting ahead of myself, just checking.

>>
>>92479502
You've got a long way to go so to speak. Don't be demoralized.
Architecture with no perspective behind it is going to be dead on arrival, and even very flat, graphic styles a-la samurai jack need a grasp of basic perspective to work. You're using crosshatching without knowing how it works. Crosshatching needs to wrap around the volumes or it flatterns your picture, leave that be for now. You should be able to represent volumes with just line.

Read How to Draw by Scott Robertson, it's a perspective book. It's really important to know the basics of perspective even if you don't care about drawing grids for it. Thankfully it's pretty easy to understand.

Read Michael Hampton's Figure Drawing: Design and Invention for figure drawing. It's a newer book and a much nicer read than the old Loomis or Bridgman.

Draw a lot with a mindset of problem solving (the solution is always there in the fundamentals) and you'll slowly see improvements.

Perspective helps with that. Once you get into the habit of drawing things by breaking them down into simple shapes (learning how to draw ellipses makes you draw better cylinders, and so on) you'll have an easier time with crosshatching since you'll be drawing over volumes you've already established.

trying to design a Slave Race.

I'm gonna go with them either having an intelligent hivemind that is manipulated through alchemical pheromones (produced my spider alchemists) or being an otherwise free species that is being mindcontrolled by head-worms
>>
>>92492611
that's pretty clever. in my head it's not the center slit of the mouth moving, it's the bulge over the top of the chelicera just showing differently.
>>
>>92493015
illustrated stories aren't comics exactly but they are nice
>>92493035
headworms are a little cliche, and theyre not as creepy for critters like this. howbout head-MITES?
>>
>>92492897
No, it's a le undertale reference
>>
>>92493054
Yeah, something like that. The mouth-arm moving like lips

I have no villain but an antagonist:
Leader of a society of people with supernatural abilities who murders them all in a plot to incite a war between humanity and an ancient civilization - which all turns out to be part of a game of skill though which he hopes to proof himself to his master who also poses as his female bodyguard.

It all makes perfect sense, I swear.
>>
>>92485942
Gonna write the comic in Spanish first then make English translation since all my proof readers are close friends of mine. So, Celsius is good, anyhow, Fahrenheit is just one Google search away so I doubt it's hard to convert
>>
i can't take it anymore lads, I'm giving up on my comic

There's a Spider Goddess called Asha in Heroes of Might n' Magic which is fairly similar.

I think I've had the name lying around in a .txt document of fantasy names for like 5 years. I made it not long after playing Dark Messiah so it's probably not a coincidence

It's a great spider name though.
>>
>>92495299
You'll get it someday, dude. I've watched artists who looked just like your art, and they eventually got it.
>>
>>92483475
Yeah, I just use the basic pencil tool. Nothing fancy there. Unfortunately the tattoos are crucial to her character. Plus, I really like the treasure chest belt. It feels really piratey, and it doesn't take any time to draw rounded trapezoids. From what I'm being told by you guys, I think it's mostly just my own inexperience and obsession with perfection that's slowing me down. That color suggestion is definitely something to think about though. I think I'll try that next time I draw her. It should make the color layer look more organic too without the hard stop between tones! Thanks Anon!

I was thinking of actually trying to get into drawing and starting my own comic. I was thinking that it could follow a personal investigator in hell, or Satan's assistant or something.
Here's a comic I just shit out in the last hour. Opinions?

Alright LISTEN, your getting better with the bodies porportions ,the manhattan you had posted some time ago was so wanky looking mainly because the proportions of the limbs were off they didn't have a balanced thickness, but these are looking better. there's gotta be a balance with proportions. if your not sure, GOOGLE photos of bodies ,whatever body type you want (proportions stay SOME WHAT the same no matter what as body fat is evenly distributed as a person gains weight I mean maybe not the stomach) but eventually if your studying right your gonna notice what size any given limb should be compared to the others (you have that somewhat down you just need more studying and practice) for this particular piece where going to look at male bodies (no homo).
>>
>>92506310
> Wow muh red and blue retro 3d glasses, must be fagstuck :^)
>>
>>92506372
your going to be COMPARING things on the body to other parts untill it LOOKS right as a WHOLE. your wrists should be a tad more thicker aswell as the bends of the legs!!!!!!!!!! just remember you want it too LOOK right brother. Just look over what you draw (this is key really sit there and look) compare it to a photo and see what needs to be adjusted, you should do this after a first attempt so that your not directly copying but your just adjusting them. things will slowly start to click as you do this and study people , trust me the brain is awesome like that. The green lanterns thighs and ass shouldn't be that thick, look at his arms ,from there you compare the arm thickness to the thigh thickness.
>>
>>92506388
for a man the thighs should be thicker then the arms but not as thick as they are there, i hope you see how that bottom part is off now and how simple it was for me to deduce that just COMPARING the limbs to each other and haveing that limb knowledge . I hope you start off with the head whenever you draw people because from there you start COMPARING the thickness of each part of the body. The flashes ribs might be coming out a bit to much when compared to the rest (but your lanterns top looks decent and even)
>>
>>92506404
Your faces are consistently the same looking square jaw , butt chin, It looks a little too cartoony. take that as you will as I'm more focused on your bodies. And your lines, dude before you color clean up your lines, the term is chicken scratch I believe ,clean this up, you must be a SAMURAI my brother, clean one hit calculated strokes , erase until you only have one line for any given part and it LOOKS right. if your lines arnt atleast clean the next time you post I'm gonna be really disappointed . Your feet and hands could use work with the fingers being unevenly proportioned, but there not bad for your skill level at all.

Why do you keep making replies instead of just finishing one full post?

Speaking of clean samurai strokes (also apples to drawing when I say that) and for all you chicken scratch mfs I want post this beauty for inspiration, this piece was done by miyamoto musashi, he was a legendary samurai in japan with an estimated 60 kills , every stroke in this painting has purpose and is absolutely beautiful. Youre that worm.

Np dude, And If i could correct myself, you can start with the head ,torso, or the basic shape Skeleton, when you start. drawing all those are fine.
