The closest thing we had to movies confirming that the TV show existed was Fury in Avengers 2 say something to the effect of, "I had some old friends get rid of the moth balls and fix her back up," referring to the original Helicarrier showing up at flying Sokovia.

Nearly 2/3rd of the second season of AoS was Coulson secretly securing funding to get the original Helicarrier up and running again in case the Avengers needed it, now that SHIELD doesn't publicly exist after Winter Soldier.

Hell, we get a shot of the original Helicarrier in the post-episode screen of the episode that is supposed to take place right before AoS happens, where he meets with one of the Koenig brothers in a hidden hanger where the thing's being re-assembled.

And the episode after that deals with the fallout of Sokovia, and one of the people talking to Coulson (I think the general guy) asks him something to the effect of, "how in the hell did you get enough money to rebuild the Helicarrier," to which Coulson just gives a shrug and a smile.

May pulls it off so well, and we got to see Daisy's gradual change to badass even before her powers. Jemma pulls off the stone cold thing well too.
