Gifs are compatible with way more shit, are way less likely to crash and stop working, automatically loop, don't have that annoying play bar show up, and probably (pulling this out of my ass but I'm right) load faster if they're around the same size.

Webms offer the advantage of better compression, better quality, and better framerate.
But for one vibrating star a gif would do just fine.

Feels dumb to me when people bring up the show's very early concept and either mistakenly claim Disney themselves altered it beyond recognition from Daron's vision (usually to make hate of the show seem more justified) or do the typical doomsaying of fandoms with no new content by wondering if Daron is actually secretly dissatisfied with how it all ended up.

She was under no obligation to actually make Star's magic real and came up with the current concept herself. The unreleased pilot, also featuring Star getting the wand and being sent from Mewni to live with Marco, fighting Ludo, etc. would have been totally written by her

Even if you want to play dumb and minimize her role as showrunner, saying storyboarders like Aaron/Dominic made it what is now, she was the one who recognized their ambition for the show compared to others and promoted them in the first place. She could've just shot any attempts at plot down and made the entire series like The Banagic Incident so that it'd be close enough to her original idea or some dumb shit, if that were really her perspective (this isn't even getting into how she's been on the writing team alongside them consistently since season 2)

Sorry for random dumb bitching but I've seen posts to this effect on popular Star Vs. blogs recently, wondering how Daron ~really feels~, and it's kind of ridiculous to assume she'd be so willing to work on it for 4 seasons and amp up the plot/magic stuff significantly if just the existence of actual magic raped her creative vision or whatever

I was trying to take some of that into consideration as that webm is 0.26 seconds long and VLC has a heart attack for anything lower.

They're both pretty shallow and one note, it's just that Jackie's role so far has been to be the perfect dream crush, and perfection is boring. Janna's role had been to be the smug troublemaker, which by default seems more interesting even though it's just as shallow.

It's just that for some reason, people don't recognize being kind, friendly and calm as personality traits the same way they do more negative traits, like being smug or sarcastic or arrogant or thieving. Not just in star vs. but in general - someone being positive and nice it's considered to have zero personality while a selfish dick has one - even though irl it takes a lot more effort to be truly kind and it's pretty rare. I think people just don't like characters that don't have any flaws. Jackie isn't devoid of a personality. She's kind, compassionate/understanding, and is really chill. I suspect that the reason relates to Marcos speech at the end of Sleepover. Nearly everything we've seen of Jackie has been through Marcos perspective, and for all his talk I don't think Marco has really gotten to know her for the real Jackie as opposed to the Jackie-on-a-pedestal that he's been crushing on since kindergarten. I think most people are against the idea of starco becoming canon in S3 because that sort of thing just doesn't really happen with endgame couples. Becoming canon halfway through the shows lifetime and all. Rewatching that ending sequence I'm still not convinced either way. Why does the house they fight the wolf just turn to not being trashed in a weird flash of white? And I thought that last "Spider with a Top Hat blast!" at the end was him kinda hearing in that his head as an aftereffect of the dream or something. And the "dream big" poster was a pretty big hint to me too.

I know it doesn't count for much but whoever wrote the plot summary on the wikia page for the episode thought it was a dream too.

Is it just me or do these threads actually get more comfy the deeper we go into hiatus? The atmosphere feels less negative and hostile. We still have lots of shitposting, sure, but it seems like harmless, good-natured shitposting.

I suspect it's because most "casual fans" left until the show returns, leaving only those who really deeply care about the show behind.

I find it goes back and forth every couple weeks. It's definitely more chill than when the show is airing, and there's lots of great OC and joking around. But then there'll be enough people every now and then who weren't around for the context of that stuff and so shit on it until the threads become nothing but shipwar shitposting and baiting for a while, until it swings back the other way.

Yeah probably. The threads seem slower too. I noticed that when the shit slinging flamewars go into overdrive mode a lot of people admit that either they don't watch the show/don't care about shipping/are genuinely sick fucks and that's basically the only time they come to the threads. Not to mention all the drama people are flocking to SJ and all the salt to laugh at.

So yeah unless there's some actual story related happenings going on, the thread will generally be peaceful.

Threads were more tame and on topic during the airing time from my point of view but that's probably because there weren't as much people into it then.
