Yeah if Creepio had just been all FLESH and SINGULARITY all the time he would've gotten old fast like 000 did.

They've been pseudo doing TFA with the Kylo Ren stuff. But in terms of doing it like they did with the original six? I doubt they'll touch TFA until Episode IX comes out.

I don't know what they're going to do with Rogue One, but I expect something, and soon. I'm fully expecting Krennic getting choked out over Darude Sandstorm.
>>
>>91290111
Just the same CGI behind the scenes stuff. ALthough seeing how seriously the actors who played the parts took it is pretty nice to hear. Guy Henry seemed horrified. And the Leia stand in seemed giddy to be there.

People who shit on the CGI should watch it though. They really seemed to care about making sure they got it right. No matter the opinion they get an A+ for effort.

my dad didn't believe it was James Earl Jones even after his name came up in the credits. I don't really blame him, either, Vader's voice sounded weak as fuck. They should've just cut the scene with him being sassy to Krennic or at least rewrote it so he didn't say anything and had Vader silent during the entire film, or only speaking minimally for shit like "prepare my shuttle." It's not like he spoke much outside of that 1 scene anyway.

Realistically, how long can disney release one Star Wars movie a year before franchise fatigue sets in?
>>
>>91291999
I'd give it another 3-5 years. Then again, the MCU is almost 10 years old and while it peaked at Avengers, it hasn't quite hit fatigue just yet.

One of the recent rumor reports says they're aware of the possibility and may start dialing back movies and focusing on TV, though.
>>
>>91291999
Indefinitely.

Star Wars isn't something you can kill that easily.

I don't know, all my normie friends are tired of super hero movies, as am I. they roll their eyes when they see more coming out.

>One of the recent rumor reports says they're aware of the possibility and may start dialing back movies and focusing on TV, though.
Depends on what they decide to write shows about, but I'd be more interested in that than movies.
>>
>>91292054
>Depends on what they decide to write shows about, but I'd be more interested in that than movies.

Superhero shows have been pretty shit so far, but if Marvel does a Moon Knight 'monster of the week' show with cameos I'll probably sell my soul to them,
>>

The difference is that from Marvel we've seen a variation in tone that I'm not sure Disney can pull off with Star Wars.

Captain America has had a period piece and a political thriller. Ant Man was a heist movie. Thor has had a space fantasy movie. Guardians of the Galaxy was space opera. Marvel's been able to mix standard superhero stories with different genres to keep things fresh. I'm not sure how different you can get with Star Wars before it simply stops being Star Wars.

No, no. It's a matter of scene connectivity. You can't just have a scene of Kenobi and Maul's final confrontation, that's bad story-telling. With a POV character from the good guys nearby, there was a reason to actually show the final duel onscreen. That it was Ezra was a matter of necessity: he's the only one stupid enough to fall for Maul's manipulations.
>>
>>91294608
Do it from mauls perspective entirely, him slowly going bonkers and running in circles, seeing ben in the dunes laughing at him, talzin and his brothers and sisters, twisted memories sheev tossing lightning at him as a child, etc. Have him be picked up by a moisture farmer, and have him not slaughter them horribly and receive the hint he needed, before running into ben. Give the team artistic license to do something weird with one of their favorite characters as they send him to his death. Don't shoehorn in ezra just because

Star Wars #30 Storytime
>>
>>91295451
Dave literally says in an interview that he knew who it was, he was just waiting for the O-K from the LSG, so it's not something that is completely dropped.

The only reason the Holocron/Dark Side stuff feels like it was dropped is because Maul was the driving force of Ezra's corruption, but they had to wrap up Maul's story with Obi-Wan.

With that in mind, here is my baseless prediction;

>Grand Inky (who may or may not be Bariss) still hate's the established Empire
>Wants to overthrow Vader, but can't do it alone
>Much like the Sith, she needs an apprentice
>Starts to seduce Ezra, this time much more so than Maul achieved
>This will climax in a fight against Kanan, and explain why neither of them are present in Rogue One, or beyond.
>>
>>91296389
>I don't know where the "Revan is female" thing comes from though
Pablo Hidalgo said he liked is female Revan

Coupled with the fact that they don't need to follow any pre-established media with Revan because literally none of it is canon, and they are free to redesign Revan how they like.

When you consider The LSG is like 2/3rd female, and the main guy in the group is in favor of female Revan, I think KoTOR fags better pucker up their assholes for the inevitable "Revan is canon but also a woman!" reveal.

Well I wish they come back to Ezra tempted by the dark side, it really could be an interesting dynamic. Without Maul though, I don't know what could drive in towards the dark side.

S2 finale kinda made me believe the whole thing with Maul was that he would attempt to make Ezra his apprentice, but in the end Ezra didn't fall for it at all, he always despised Maul. Even in Twin Suns Maul calls him "apprentice" even though there was absolutely nothing. Well I guess it was just to show how delusional Maul was

You're the one who doesn't understand inertia. Here's a hint: the Star Destroyer has more. The Hammerhead should have crumpled and exploded almost immediately upon impact while trying to overwhelm that inertia. Instead, it suffers mere cosmetic damage. The POINT OF IMPACT, the bridge, is undamaged. The people on it just fall over.

It was a stupid asspull. Now, had the Destroyer drifted down after the hammerhead exploded, sure. Or had a bigger ship rammed the destroyer, sure.

Ok, next question. What if we got a book that was a collection of short stories about Revan, by a bunch of different authors.

But each author is given 100% creative freedom with their story. They can write whatever the fuck they like. Make Revan a women, have him a Jedi, a Sith, kill him off, whatever the fuck they wanted.

By the third story, its made abundantly clear to the reader that the truth about Revan is completely blurred, and we will never know what is real. Establishing that Revan has a history in the Galaxy, stories and legends retold across worlds, greatly exaggerating truths that will never be uncovered.

This is personally what I want from Revan. Sort of like a Jesus figure, where the story is retold so many times, and its so far back in the past that people can believe whichever truths they want. It'd be the only thing in Canon that you can truly pick-and-choose.

I think that would be very appropriate, considering the medium where Revan originated.

Whatever they do with Revan isn't going to make him a timelessly important figure. The Old Republic was thousands of years off. The most they can reasonably do is turn Revan's story into a lesson or footnote for younglings and future generations to ponder, like what they're doing with the Ordu Aspectu and Rur. Most likely it'll be a class on why the Jedi should never fight wars, and in the event they do, all the costs that come with such a tragedy.

That's literally all you need to glean from Revan's story.

I never said axe, I said saw.

And how far do you think shields will get you when an object of that mass is colliding into you? The Star destroyers in ESB take shit from asteroids with full shields, and those are way smaller than another full size ISD falling onto you.

>>91298399
As someone who got rear-ended recently, the jolt of another car slamming into you is terrifying. Fortunately my 2007 Ford Mustang took the hit like it was nothing and just scraped some paint off, the other guy's poor little Honda was a mess.
>>
>>91298399
Who cares? All you've established is that they were not traveling at full speed. Obviously they were under thrust, since we see the drives firing and, again, the hammerhead hits it's target so hard it bounces off. It takes me out of the scene as much as if someone had screamed 'PLOT ARMOR' at the top of their lungs, since not a minute later a destroyer crumpled realistically. Then there was what happened when a ship hit Vader's...

It's not as bad as Jyn effortlessly beating stormtroopers in a shooting gallery, but it is obnoxious.

>And how far do you think shields will get you when an object of that mass is colliding into you?

I'm not sure, why don't we ask the corvette that rammed a battleship at high speeds and took no damage? For the record, I'm arguing AGAINST the shields being a factor - they didn't help vs. an asteroid in ESB, they didn't help the destroyer in R1, and they shouldn't have helped the Hammerhead.

>The Star destroyers in ESB take shit from asteroids with full shields, and those are way smaller than another full size ISD falling onto you.

I absolutely agree, the shields would not help the destroyer, nor, logically, should they help the corvette.

The empire is only very loosely based on the subconscious antagonistic view nostalgic 70s post-counterculture baby boomer liberals had over the contemporary government, its real influences are of course Nazi Germany, general totalitarian regimes, and the Roman Empire. People saw the Iraq War, Bush and Cheney in the prequels but that wasn't any more intentional than Nixon/Agnew in the OT.

>Someone from Bring Back Legends would corner a panelist. Someone else would hijack the audience microphone during Q/A time to complain about Disney or Del Rey. At one point, they even questioned authors of Legends books and implied that they were involved in Disney’s “casual disregard” of the Expanded Universe.

It wasn’t just me this happened to, either. One panelist and moderator was stalked to a restroom by someone from Bring Back Legends. Another panelist was halted in the Marriott atrium and, again, was talked at and had a set of flyers pushed off on them even though the panelist said they didn’t want one. The Bring Back Legends folks at Dragon Con had become general nuisances, but more than once it went beyond that. I spoke with several fans and panelists who confided that they were made extremely uncomfortable by the advances of the individuals from Bring Back Legends.

>A fan at the Rebels panel was accosted by a member of Bring Back Legends. The BBL member repeatedly insisted that they did not care about Rebels and tried numerous times to disrupt the panel by talking to this fan about the books. This is despite the fan insisting numerous times that they wanted to be left alone so they could pay attention to the panel.

You know, weather or not they crossed a line, I understand where they're coming from.

You need to remember the transition wasn't a gradual one. Projects being worked on weren't allowed to be wrapped up. One day everyone just got told to pack up their shit and every ongoing comic ended abruptly, every game was cut no matter how far in development it was, and the only thing allowed to persist was an MMO nobody really liked that was also retconning shit left and right, and however you feel about TCW it ALSO fucked with established lore. If you were a star wars fan back in the day I can understand how you're 100% done. The transition was neither well done or respectful to the people that invested their money up until that point.

Thats because it WAS transitioning over time, but EUfags ignored it.

Lucas was literally saying multiple times how he never considered the EU canon, and TCW was the start of his official expansion of Star Wars beyond the movies.

But everyone stuck their fingers in their ears for 5 years, and then act shocked when Disney/Lucasfilm publicly announced the EU was being retitled as Legends.

And there wasn't much happening in the EU anymore anyways. The Imperial Handbook was still allowed to be finished to complete that EU series. TOR was allowed to continue. Heir to the Jedi was allowed to be re-worked into canon. There may have been one comic series that was axed, but it can't have been that great because I've never heard anybody complain about it before.

As for Vidya, all of the games """""""in development"""""" were in very rocky states too. The Darth Maul game has since been revealed to be a clusterfuck of the developers desperately trying to merge like 3 ideas together to try and make a canon Maul game that would never have been accepted as canon. 1313 was getting overhauled before they even showed their outdated E3 demo. The Episode 7 game obviously never got off its feet once it was decided they were doing more movies.

No it wasn't. Off the top of my head Dawn of the Jedi died right before it would've ended. 1313 was basically done but it was abandoned. The Darth Maul game was in the Alpha stage but it also died pretty quickly. A bunch of shit fans were really excited for was unceremoniously cut from production at once.

Legends was always going to be obvious, just because you couldn't really do 7 within EU constraints, but you could have at least let stuff that was already being made finish up.

And 1313 never got a chance to even finish it's overhaul. It was cut more or less as soon as Lucasfilm got bought out.

>Lucas was literally saying multiple times how he never considered the EU canon, and TCW was the start of his official expansion of Star Wars beyond the movies.
To be fair what were they supposed to do other than stop being Star Wars fans? The EU was 99% of Star Wars regardless of what Lucas wanted Star Wars to be. If Lucas really wanted people to take his version of the lore more seriously he should have been more involved in the books and hired people to tell his version of the universe earlier than before TCW. Those guys at the con are huge faggots but you guys act like canon has existed since the 80s while the EU was some random kids looking at it and going 'That's fucking gay reeeeee I want to make my own shitty version of that universe!' when I'm reality it was guys saying 'I wonder how the Sith were formed. What do you think George? Oh you don't know either? Well can I make a comic about them? You don't care? Cool thanks.' And then from that spurred this universe that constantly referenced past works and was basically made because Lucas was too uninvolved to actually make his own version of this universe.

It's great that he's actually getting more involved today but it's so late that many people understandably don't see it as their version of canon because for nearly 30 years Exar Kunn was one of the first Sith, Luke made a new Jedi Academy after fighting Thrawn's Imperial Remnant until all of a sudden they were told that none of that happened meanwhile a children's show became the core of that universe alongside a shitty new movie and a new video game deal with some of the shittiest developers in the video game world with tons of cool projects like 1313, Underworld, and Lucas' version of Episode 7 We're cancelled.

I don't think she ever saw it that way. It's not like the death of a single imperial leader or the destruction of a super weapon was what turned the table in their favor in the first place. Even after the death of Thrawn, Sheeev and Sheeeev they still needed agents like Nom Anor to weaken the Empire.
>>
>>91303259

Not to mention as someone WATCHING rebels, I'm not going to hold it against them for not giving a single fuck about the show. It's really cheaply made and full of filler episodes, and there's nothing it does that the EU hasn't done somewhere else ten million times better. Ezra and Kanan aren't even in my top five post 66 jedi. Phoenix Squadron sure as fuck wasn't Rogue Squadron, and they died so often it barely registers that they aren't around anymore. Shit, they aren't even Defender Wing or Cracken's Flight Group or any of the B and C tier rebel squadrons from the EU. Lothal is completley nondescript except for some weird rocks in the show and you'd need to go through a bunch of spinoff books of a tie-in cartoon to get a feel for anything about the planet that stands up.

The constant excuse people make is that TCW got better after two or three seasons, but the fact is that they needed an EU villain to generate hype and they cut all tension for even that by constantly going through useless filler episodes.

Of course it is anon, don't be silly. As long as you don't get shitposty about canon, there will always be people who will enjoy talking about Legends too.

That's perfectly understandable. As someone who liked Star Wars media long before TCW, I know exactly how people felt. It was a very weird time.

But I believe the respectable thing is to not be attached to the past, and actually enjoy TCW and following media as Star Wars fans would. You have to accept that Lucas and Lucasfilm are trying to build a consistent and enjoyable universe, and that started with their cartoon series replacing the old PT EU.

I feel like by Season 3 of TCW, most fans were happily following TCW and understanding that the old EU had to take a back seat. But there were always those salty fans who wouldn't let go of the EU, insisted TCW was the one breaking lore, ect ect.

It wasn't, because the EU wasn't canon. Ever. This is what EUfags struggle to understand.

TCW was never trying to fit into the EU, beyond very initial concepts of it being built around the 2003 cartoon, an idea that was quickly dropped after Season 1.

It wasn't. It was creating the lore. The EU was never Canon.

The detailing on everything is literally drawn onto the textures instead of built into the model. The character rigs constantly go screwy with shit like Sabine's armor stretching with the limb because they can't skin weight for shit. You can tell exactly where they drop the lights in the maya files because they always reflect off the eyes in a cheap looking way that shows that they're just thrown in there without much effort.

If you know jack shit about working in 3d rebels just looks increasingly cheap and slapdash.

You can still enjoy something, despite knowing its not canon.

And to add to this, as an ex-EUfag, here is the very bitter pill people dont like to swallow. Canon, is what EUfags ALWAYS wanted.

>You're telling me we're getting books, comics, Tv shows, and new MOVIES, and they're all connected and being treated as equally canon? My favorite book characters can show up in the tv show, and my favorite tv show characters can be in the new movie?

Any EUfag who claims they didn't want that 10 years ago is a stone cold liar. It's just people are bitter about having to start from scratch.

And don't get me wrong, I GET that,I get being attached to the old stuff. There's plenty of old stuff I loved. But is it really worth it to refuse to partake or enjoy the new stuff? Hell no, I'm going to enjoy Canon every bit as much as I enjoyed the EU.

The risks of mentioning the old EU. In spite of the potential for creative discussion or idea-tossing, you'll risk drawing in the frustrated idiots with the same arguments about the current situation. It can be discussed with no problems, but it is risky.

It's like mentioning Boba Fett, but with less of a chance of drawing in those with an angry, condescending, and particularly vocal mindset.

It's not Lucasfilm's fault fans blatantly ignored terminology in favor of deluding themselves into thinking something false.

http://comicbook.com/starwars/2017/02/20/star-wars-lucasfilm-legends-expanded-universe-george-lucas

>That difficulty stems mostly from a misunderstanding on what those old tales were ever meant to be. The terminology of "Expanded Universe" was a careful one; it expanded on the world created in the core stories, but was never officially meant to be Star Wars canon, according to the Maker himself, George Lucas.

>"For me and my training here at Lucasfilm, working with George, he and I always thought the Expanded Universe was just that. It was an expanded universe. Basically it's stories that are really fun and really exciting, but they're a view on Star Wars, not necessarily canon to him," Filoni explained. He worked extremely closely with George Lucas on Star Wars: The Clone Wars, taking Lucas's ideas and fleshing them out into six seasons (plus unproduced episodes, novels, and comics that expanded it).

>"That was the way it was from the day I walked into Lucasfilm with him all through Clone Wars, everything we worked on, he felt the Clone Wars series and his movies were what was actually the reality of it all, the canon," Filoni said, "then there was everything else. So it wasn't a big dynamic shift for me mentally when there was this big announcement saying the EU is now Legends. I'm like, 'Okay, well, it's kind of the same thing to me because that the way I work.' What George and I always used to do though is look at what was out there, and you would see characters like Ventress and go, 'My gosh, what a great character.' People love this character. He saw Aayla Secura; He puts her in the film. So there was this great collaborative way where you could take these ideas, but you have to always kind of apply the Star Wars Cinematic Universe of what the canon is to those characters when you translate them."

I think this is part of it. Everyone understands that the EU isn't canon but you guys have to make them constantly preface any EU discussion with 'NOW GUYS I KNOW NONE OF THIS IS CANON AND IT WILL NEVER EVER MATTER EVER AGAIN IN THE HISTORY OF STAR WARS' instead of just letting people talk about their favorite canon. Obviously it isn't the 'canon' canon but literally everyone (especially people coming here to talk about Star Wars) knows that. It's almost sort of demeaning or something but not exactly. It's hard to explain. Of the initial set of ideas, and the last idea to come from Lucas himself.

I am well aware that they'll be doing more sooner than we think.
>>
>>91304132

I think the entire problem would have been resolved handily if Canon weren't so thouroughly mediocre outside of maybe half a dozen things across every medium. Force Awakens wasn't that great. Rebels is done on a shoestring budget and it's recurring issues become more obvious with each passing season. There were a couple of decent novels, but Wendig was the one they gave all the hype and attention to. EA's only major game has no story mode and hocks stuff that should've been in the base game across multiple DLC packs. The release schedule is basically comatose since the number of books and games out dropped like a stone once the EU ended, so every miss just becomes even more obvious.

People are still pissed, years later, because the shit they liked never actually got a replacement in most cases, and the stuff that did usually wasn't that great by comparison. There is no SW RPG to replace what KOTOR had. There is no action game or shooter that's really replacing Dark Forces and the Jedi Knight stuff. Rogue Squadron was a big deal across three different mediums but if you're into fighter squadron stuff you have nothing that's really there to keep you interested. I mean hell, even if you're one of those people who liked the old Ewoks cartoon and movies Dark Horse had a trade paperback of new stuff out in 2013, and you'd at least get a nod in other stuff once in a while. Even the tabletop stuff went to shit since X-Wing essentially abandoned it's flight sim roots to make nothing but movie and cartoon tie-ins.

NuCanon is for people who like the OT, and ONLY people who like the OT, in it's most generalized form. You'll MAYBE get a prequel nod once or twice a year. If there was anything else you loved, you get at best vague promises, and at worse, just silence.

I'm still of the opinion that NuCanon will never be as good unless they actually get people that were as good. They don't need to bring those same people back like they did Zahn but they need someone who can do what Stackpole did if nothing else and take a concept through multiple mediums and tell decent stories with overarching characters and plots.

The stuff they're doing now, where every other main character dies at the end of their story and everyone's stories are effectivley self contained within their corner outside of a handfull of people that just kind of float around like Rae Sloane, isn't really working. Because every time something happens that might have any potential it dies immediatley. We're probably never going to see Thane Kyrell again. Hell, we're not even going to see Zaire Leonis again, and they backdoor piloted and pushed him fucking HARD.

When the world of the Sequel Trilogy is mostly or thorouggly fleshed out through the films? The EU was so clusterfucked because in its heyday it expanded itself concurrently with the pacing of the movies. A lot of it was conjectural with little to no input from the film crew. Both sides were doing their own thing while plucking from one another. The EU would develop after the release of a film, and the film crew would take from the EU in the development of the next, but there was no actual coordination or unification of vision. The films had a theme and strategy, while the EU just grew.

The new way of doing things is blue balling yes, but it's at least being done with a vision.

Like the complexities of why the First Order exists, or why if the rebels one is there a resistance fighting them instead of that government. 8 and 9 need to explore the galaxy more, or that problem of the exterior sources making shit up will occur again. Not to mention the films will be shit if that's the case, but that's incidental.

For some reason I can't seem to order a Bluray of Rogue One from Amazon. Apparently they were out of stock in seconds.

Did you fuckers do this?

I guess, but I really wanted a physical copy. It'd look nice on my shelf.

That's a crock of shit and you know it. If it were about waiting till after or coordinating there wouldn't be another EAfront game on the way and the Poe Dameron comic wouldn't be so clearly done on the spot.

We're blue balling while ALSO being made up on the spot. There is no vision. What you're seeing is just the scraps Marvel gives and the end result of an EA exclusive contract.

Yeah I really, really doubt that 8 was entirely written when it was shot, and that 9 is entirely done.

Infact I imagine the popular bits from 8 will have a big impact on 9.

Say Yoda wasn't looking, like maybe he's distracted.
What exactly would happen if someone kicked him?
Would he go flying through the air like the thanksgiving kickoff, or would the force save him and wreck your foot?
>>
>>91306255
I feel like it'd be a Charlie Brown joke. You'd go to kick, and he'd force jump over you at the last second.

They say whenever you read an EU or NuCanon book, you die in Six Days unless you get someone else to read it, whereupon the curse passes to them.

You underestimate the power of the wook. Pic related is the Art of Star Wars Uprising
>Although it is not available for public purchase, Ken Capelli, Kabam's Senior Creative Director, gifted several copies of the book to the members of WookieeProject Data Seekers, a WookieeProject focused on creating, upgrading and maintaining all articles related to Star Wars: Uprising.
