Peter is such a manchild in the Raimi films that it honestly boggles me how people can claim to be unable to take a teenage Spider-Man seriously. And yet you can take an adult who has the mental maturity and general thought process of an awkward thirteen-year-old seriously?

>>
>>91263073
Realism. It's a better character than being a quipping little twink which is what spidey is unless you delve deep down into the shitty comics.
>>
The first two Raimi films and definitely the best super hero movies and they aren't totally ashamed of source material. Even three isn't that bad if you focus on the Sandman and Harry plot. Even "emo" Peter is actually kinda funny if you just accept it as what it is, I dunno I had a huge grin re watching that stuff at least instead of getting butthurt about it.

Homecoming looks like such a huge disappointment in every way, I've never liked Tom Holland and any point he's whiney and pathetic looking in a way that seems annoying and punchable instead of endearing and underdog rooting. Everything with RDJ is annoying and I hope he's killed in Infinity War I'm sick of him guzzling down Marvels budget and sticking his cock into everything they make at this point.
>>
My favorie is The Dark Knight, and unironically Batman v Superman, mostly for the action scenes, which i loved, it only needed a better script.
>>
>>91255662
Yes. It had the heart, genuineness, and sense of fun of Donner's Superman only with the special effects and action to pull off a capeshit classic.

Toby Maguire is no Chris Reeve though.

>>91258040
In Ock's 1st or 2nd comic appearance, Peter did knock him out in one punch. And usually their battles in the comic don't involve Peter actually hitting Ock with his fist, until the end.

The movie doesn't really have an excuse what with Spider-Man landing a bunch of blows on Ock without much effect.

The action (what little there was) in BvS was solid and the real gem Snyder got right. Would've seriously been a great film had he delved more into that and less with thematic-pondering and nu-Luthor.

The final scene is still one of my favorite scenes in a cape film. Peter and MJ finally get together and have their first kiss as a couple until they're interrupted by a siren. She drops the Go Get em tiger line and he goes swinging off elated because the woman that he loves loves him back and chose him* and goes off to save the day as she looks on from the window, pensive and wondering what the hell she got herself into and what's in store for them.

I did like that they included that scene too because even though MJ and Peter got together, someone else got hurt in the process.
>>
SM2's greatest strength is that is feels genuine. It's cheesy and cartoony as fuck but it pulls it off so well.

>>91265985
Good choice anon, the ending is one of my favorites. meanwhile in the MCU we'll never get an ending like this because they have to remind us about the 8 upcoming movies with all their mid/post-credits scenes.

Those movies still hold up so well because holy shit Rami's gonzo cinematography and camerawork fit Spidey like a glove on a hand. There behind the scenes stuff talks about all the shit they had to invent to make those swooping vertigo web-swinging shots, and I don't think anyone could have come up with that literally high-flying camerawork but Raimi.

Any movie Raimi directs just OOZES his personal style. His Spider-man films had such a strong sense of identity, but all the modern Marvel films have a really bland "house style." People can love or hate DC's house style but at least it's eliciting some kind of opinion. Marvel, you just look at it and say...welp, yea, that's a competently shot movie I guess.

i absolutely love the first avengers movie and civil war
>>
>>91267822
It's an alright action flick for me. The problem with it is that it has the The Force Awakens syndrome, where once the shine and the inititial excitement and fun factor of the movie wears off, there's nothing to chew on. The plot is barebones, the characters are drawn in loose brushstrokes and the action is pretty by the numbers. If there weren't four movies preceeding Avengers, the movie wouldn't work at all.

I unironically prefer Age of Ultron, because Whedon at least tried to do an actual character examination there and to move them forward instead of just doing a capstone to Phase 2. The movie had more of a substance to make it stand on its own. Of course, he also wanted all of Avengers 1's action and fun on steroids and you've had Marvel muscling in with their worldbuilding and the movie ended up being way overblown. But in the moments where you really see what Whedon was going for (the dream scenes, the farm and the party, Wanda), the movie really shines.

I'd still prefer Whedon over Russos on Infinity War. Russos will make a competent, enjoyable movie, but it'll be so plain. I'd prefer a messy, flawed movie with a bit of heart and something to say over a piece of craft.
>>

>>91269255
You've never actually read a Spider-Man comic have you?
>>
>people arguing whether something is or isn't ashamed of the source material

This is seriously some of the dumbest shit on the Internet.

Any director with their own personal vision is going to adapt pre-established material with their own style and storytelling, that's like the basic groundwork of being an actual director, no one is going to subsume themselves to the whims of other people just to placate fanboys.

The idea that people have to stay close to source material in order to respect it is some Stephen King levels of whining. If you want the source, go read that. The fun of adaptations is seeing interesting people taking material in different, personal directions.

This all just reeks of immaturity.
>>
>>91269310
That's a shit opinion, anon.

Adaptations don't have to be a 1:1 copy. But if you're going to stray so far away from the source material that it doesn't even resemble it (beyond superfluous things like costuming).... why not just, you know, make a new character?
>>
>>91269343

>why not just, you know, make a new character?

Because iconography exists outside of the original story. It's why Sherlock Holmes can be a Conan Doyle novel, a cyberpunk future cartoon or a Disney movie where he's a talking mouse.

This is doubly true with comic books since with the Big Two they aren't written by one person with an ending point. They're passed around to different people with different visions. You can't argue a purity testy with characters who have essentially been written by committee for decades.

>Same reason Tony being shoehorned into an integral part of Spider-Mans origin is a problem to begin with

First off, this isn't an origin movie at all.

Second off, the entire point of the movie is to establish that Peter can be a hero free from Tony's guidance. Are you truly incapable of understanding this?

Thirdly: Just because Toomes has a personal vendetta against Tony, doesn't mean that things do not become personal between him and Spider-Man. They're actively keeping how Vulture and Spider-Man first encounter each other hushed. It will become personal between them, too.

These aren't even hard concepts to grasp, anon.

batman returns will always reign supreme.

Vulture always starts out having a vendetta against someone else (Gregory Bestman, Norman Osborn) and shifting gears to Spider-Man once Spider-Man keeps meddling in his business.

Ant-Man wasn't that bad, or at least would've been more tolerable if:
>Paul Rudd could deliver jokes
>Girl wasn't so forced as a love interest and suddenly gets all her backstory dumped from her shit dad
The villain being super obvious and hilariously evil was actually a greater point since they become so stupidly bad. It was more of a heist movie with a hero anyways.
>>
>>91270291
>First off, this isn't an origin movie at all.
His "origin" in the MCU was in Civil War, a Captain America movie that was really an Avengers movie, in which Tony Stark was integral to Peter's origin into the Captain America Avengers movie, in which case he was introduced by being part of Tony Stark's Avengers
>>
>>91270401
>that was really an Avengers movie
This is incorrect. It was a Captain America movie. The focus was on Cap and developing Cap's story specifically. But you're apparently too dense to follow a basic plot.

> in which Tony Stark was integral to Peter's origin
No. His origin happened off camera, dumbass. Peter is already Spider-Man when Tony meets him. Again, following a plot isn't your strong suit at all.

>in which case he was introduced by being part of Tony Stark's Avengers
And then immediately kicked out. And told in Homecoming that he is NOT part of Tony's Avengers... by Tony himself.

You really need to learn to pay attention, anon.

Did you guys ever read about the first draft of the script?

>Two years after Norman Osborn's death, Peter Parker and Harry Osborn are living together, but Harry soon begins experiencing nightmares and hallucinations, and decides to move back to Osborn Manor, forcing Peter to relocate to a rundown apartment.

>Meanwhile, Mary-Jane Watson is estranged from Peter and struggling with her acting career. She develops a relationship with Dr. Otto Octavius, the scientist who created the genetically-modified spiders that he theorizes gave Spider-Man his powers. Octavius has also created four mechanical arms and a "pacer chip" coded to Spider-Man's DNA, that could reverse his powers.

>Obsessed with revenge, Harry puts a $10 million bounty on Spider-Man's head through the Daily Bugle, turning the entire city against him. Octavius becomes addicted to the endorphin needed to endure the pain of being connected to the arms, and begins being influenced by then. He spirals out of control after being mugged during a date with MJ, viciously beating the crooks and going on a rampage, forcing Peter to intervene. In the ensuing fight, Octavius's arms are fused to his spine, for which Spider-Man is blamed. Tired of the constant persecution, Peter steals the pacer chip and injects it in himself, supressing his powers and allowing him to have a normal life. Spider-Man's disappearance causes Harry to further spiral into insanity.

>Octavius escapes, hellbent on revenge, and volunteers to kill Spider-Man in exchange for the $10 million, but fails to drawn Spider-Man out of hiding. When Harry reneges on their deal, Octavius kidnaps both him and MJ to lure Spider-Man into a trap. Upon learning of their capture, Peter carves the chip out of his arm with a butcher knife and becomes Spider-Man once again.

>Spider-Man confronts Octavius at an abandoned warehouse, but is overpowered and his identity is exposed to MJ and Harry. Octavius conspires to kill Spider-Man and extract his spinal fluid, which Octavius believes can be used as a cure for his deteriorating health. MJ appeals to Octavius's humanity, and he momentarily falters, allowing Spider-Man to escape.

>Octavius experiences a nervous breakdown and lashes out, damaging the building's foundations in the process, before Spider-Man subdues him. As it begins to crumble, Spider-Man rescues MJ and Harry, and attempts to save Octavius as well, but Octavius, in a brief lapse of sanity, realizes the monster he's become and elects to stay behind and die.

>Peter and MJ reunite, but Harry bitterly accuses Peter of killing his father and renounces his friendship to both and returns to Osborn Manor, where he's further tormented by visions that lead him to his father's secret lair and the revelation that Norman was the Green Goblin.

>Meanwhile, MJ helps Peter back to his apartment to tend to his wounds, where they declare their feelings for each other and decide to pursue a relationship, despite all the dangers it might lead to.

What? Because I actually payed attention to the movie while watching Civil War and while watching the Homecoming trailer... I'm a mindless drone?

All you're doing is showing how much of an idiot you really are. At least try to hold a coherent discussion, instead of just spouting off obviously false information.

>I'm not arguing with you
You aren't even arguing at all. You're just shitposting with clearly false info,

>because you don't read comics.

Agreed. The Cap trilogy (collectively, as its effectively one consistent story that runs through the three movies), is the best thing the MCU has put out, in my opinion.

Cap 1 into Avengers and back out with WS is great. Just take out CW.

>The Matrix doesn't just serve for the purpose of getting energy from humans, and in fact scientists consider this impossible anyway since the human body is a net energy consumer even when idle. The primary purpose of the Matrix is to use each person's brain for "cheap memory" and extra computing power (see Matrix Comics: Goliath). The Wachowskis only offered the "power source" explanation in the movie because it was simpler for the audience to understand than the concept of "humans collectively forming a matrix of computing". This would make the Matrix sort of like a giant brain, where the smaller brain of each person inside of it is like a single neuron in the larger brain.

I prefer the other script where Spider-man gives up being Peter Parker and Hangs out with Black Cat

They loosely adapted this version of the script for the game
>>
>>91272942
Peter never said it in the comics, until far more recent issues. It was originally just in the narration. Why should it be shoehorned into this movie?

Show. Don't tell.

Show that Peter understands he has to act. Which is clearly a big theme of Homecoming, as we see it flat out said in the trailer.

Lets also not forget that Peter basically already said it in Civil War. There is no need to shoehorn it into the movie. Viewers already know it, as it was crammed down their throats for the last five movies. Just like they already know Spider-Man's origin.
