Well anon, I look at other people's work and I feel the same way. It's not something that ever goes away. You're going to have to deal with the idea that your art isn't fantastic your entire life/career. But if there's anything I've been picking up lately it's that it's important to relax and just let it go. keep drawing, build that mileage. keep studying, build that knowledge. keep trying, get all those bad drawings out.

You will get there. But drawing ain't easy. And dedicated study isn't as fun as drawing dragons or space ships or boobs from memory. But you will get there. We'll all get there.

Develop your knowledge of what you draw. Develop the confidence in your lines. Develop the flow of your characters. develop your skill with the medium.

Leave it to /co/ to corrupt my childhood. And I like it.

Second, don't think in lines think in shapes:

Repeat basic shapes like circles and squares triangles rectangles, but also lines diagonal lines and squigly lines(rotate them to alternate), closely behind one another, this will train your lower arm muscles into being able to draw more consistantly, also try to maintain the quality of drawing it well (they don't differ too much amongst themselves when you repeat them in succession) in a dummy drawing book, ad infinitum instead.

And try to develop the sight, of seeing shapes in anything, opposed to just the lines.

Sooner than later, you will see drastic improvement in being able to work with shapes, and your mind will blend shapes and lines in, recognisible shapes, for you to draw.

Also try to alternate where you begin drawing a shape, this will improve your drawing too, and avoid too much repetitive moves.
Also alternate in the size of the shapes when you practice, but keep it within it own series ( large with large medium to medium etc)

Good advice. I'd add that a good way to start developing the sight for form and shape is to draw from life. start small, small geometric objects, and go into more complex shapes as you go on. also, life drawing classes with models if possible.

I wish I had more time to go to life drawing sessiosn myself, but I'm usually too busy for them. Rather disappointing.
