The Gorillaz are now less a band and more a platform to shill celebrities on. None of the characters resemble who they used to be and the studio makes a habit out of shitting on Jamie's ideas whenever he suggests the Gorillaz do anything with their canon or animation (i.e.: 50% of why anyone gave a shit about them.) Now their sound is lazy, autotuned and the exact same thing rather than experimental or alternative.

Music is pretty bad senpai. Music video was a huge step-down and not enjoying the lazy generic autotune. The models were oddly lazy, like PS2 era graphics. The pizza face especially looked like a generic version of one of those face reading apps.

The Vince staples track and Andromeda were pretty good though, if the rest of the album stinks at least I have two new tracks to enjoy

Don't really care unless it was statement on how fucking awful autotune is. I've only liked low-poly when it's used deconstructively, or it fits a general aesthetic. It would have been nicer if each of the three apparitions had a different art style, instead of 10 seconds in Maya pizza, low poly worm, and low poly arm thing. All the other assets are well designed or hand drawn then warped to work in the 360 view. It would have been better if the whole inside of the house got a sort of Gumball treatment.

To me, it just looks like they had to go ahead and use the placeholder models instead of finalized ones to meet a deadline.

I love Saturn Barz and Andromeda and like Ascension and We Got The Power. As for Hallelujah Money... well, I like the lyrics. I don't find the actual music all that memorable, I think that black dude with the Henry Spencer haircut is some sort of spoken word artist but his contributi9lon to that song is in that weird spot between spoken word and actual singing where it seems a bit awkward to me.

One of the best things about Gorillaz was seeing styles and features that you wouldn't think would ever work end up working in a great way.

Is that really what you guys want? the same thing we already had? Don't get me wrong, I love DD and PB, but the thing I enjoy so much about Gorillaz is that their music is always about experimenting and trying new things, every album is totally different from the last, with different musicians, music genres and styles. Even the songs on a single album are totally removed from each other, yet have an overarching theme, binding them.
When they announced that they were gonna do a new album, my first thoughts weren't "oh boy, I hope they'll make something like demon days again" My first thoughts were wondering what the fuck I was going to be in for and waiting to be surprised by the band
So far I'm really hyped by what they've released already

I'm loving what we've got so far this phase, but damn am I sad that they haven't made any effort to top Demon Days musically or aesthetically.

Well, many of them are composed of two kinda different styles that compliment each other, you can hear that in Clint Eastwood, in Dirty Harry, in Stylo, in Empire Ants and also in Saturn Barz. There are also Albarns vocals which have a bit of a sleepy, ethereal quality to them which lend a certain contrast to those of wh9ever they're working with, if they don't take center stage, like in Andromeda. They're also that lush but also somewhat detached sounding instrumentation lending the songs a bit of a otherwordly quality. And that's kinda contrasted by these more straight forward hip hop beats that have always been a pretty big part of their music.

Of course they've also made a lot of songs that don't exactly fit into that scheme but most of the ones we've heard seem to fit in pretty well with their work as a whole.

Tbh of the five songs I've heard, Andromeda is the only one I've given a second listen to. None of them compare to anything on Plastic Beach in my opinion.
