Hello, Storyteller.

Since you lot are so insistent that recommendations are a good thing, I'm going to rec something to you, Storyteller.

You like crazy complex storylines with kinda asshole protagonists, right? Play Drakengard 3. Or maybe just watch a walkthrough since the game play is kinda mediocre, honestly.

PS3 exclusive.

I really think you will like the main character Zero, cause she fits a lot of the bullet points that you seem to like in female protagonists.

Also, price waiting is something I very much understand. Folks who like to game ain't made of money.

Yeah reading some of Simone's older stuff makes me realize how closely Bennett tries to emulate her.
What's annoying is Bennett has some neat ideas but she's either too self indulgent or just not good enough at different voices to be really good.
Because I wouldn't mind a well written lesbian insect book in the victorian age, but it's not good at all. lol

>>
>>91033386
I think I was less disappointed purely because it was well within my expectations. There's nothing to Generations that is going to make me buy it.

Also last thread someone (I think OP) mentioned how in terms of fanfic the Bat-family are kind of self-sustaining independently of any outside media and I was thinking about that with regards to the X-Men. Do they get the same thing? Why/why not?
>>

>>91033474
Hmmmmm. There's a decent amount of X-movieverse fic (actually, large amounts, and weird Magneto fans accordingly to put it mildly), but there's nothing quite like the Batfanon. It's so odd because it's based on the niche format--comics--but it's pretty huge, maybe even dominant.

I think the Claremont heyday was too long ago and no one managed to get the critical mass to kick it off.

This is the weirdest fucking thing.
Like I get there are things in the comics or other media canon that people may not like, but some of those things are basically nothing like any canon. Like they just make shit up and it gets spread throughout more of the fandom and others pick it up, and it's all so fascinating.

Author had some tweets yesterday that, too, I get what she wants, and yet it reeks of "Why can't this character go into the box *I* like?"

One thing I have noticed with the HydraCap story in particular is how most crit of it is about it's mere existence being somehow immoral for not doing what the person criticizing wants out of a Cap book. Which galls me because there is actually plenty to criticize about the actual execution. 'You are hurting me personally because this story is upsetting me by being dark' is not a failing of the story or a valid arguement.

Weeklies are inherently a fool's errand
>>
>>91033610
Because that would actually be SMART.

Allow me to blog for a moment, of you will. I have a GameCube, with the Gameboy Player extension (it's a solid hunk of plastic and metal that you plug into the bottom of the GameCube, and it lets you play every Gameboy, Gameboy Color, and Gameboy Advance game). I got the Wii later, which plays all GameCube games. If I didn't have the Player, I would've had no reason to keep the GameCube at that point. Then I got a Wii U, which plays all Wii games, but not GameCube, so now I HAVE to keep the GameCube if I want to play Eternal Darkness or something else on that.

PlayStation used to do that too, with one version of the PS3 able to play all PlayStation games, but now physical hardware restrictions prevent it, or so I'm told.

Nowadays, game companies just re-sell you digital re-released versions of the games, rather than let you just place in the game you already physically own, which is a massive bummer for hoarders like me.

Okay, blog over, let's talk about comics and weird fancanons.
>>

the one that was like 5 crossover issues in one?!? That shit was amazing!!!!!

no taste on this board

USAvengers is like all those commercials in the Super Bowl that people were like "This is anti-Trump!" when they were (mostly) just generic American Values junk.

Or the people who think Handmaid's Tale is an Original Series on Hulu reacting to Trump

People getting buttmad about Handmaid's Tale is pricelessly funny
>>
>>91035920
Owen!
Nate's Second Wife!
A guy who is not literally a Tiger!
Vertigo!

It's a nice lineup, although Boomer Jr. really didn't belong there.

Thanks OP!

...people can't actually be that retarded, right?

This Squad did show up in the Secret Six Blackest Night kerfuffle
>>
>>91036009
they can and they are

Oh, I guess we're done for the night.
G'night, OP.

>Or the people who think Handmaid's Tale is an Original Series on Hulu reacting to Trump

Maybe it's just being Canadian, but the apparent anonymity that Margaret Atwood apparently has now is weird.

Like, people have storytimed Angel Catbird (which was not good) but were baffled that it had prominent bookstore shelfspace, despite it being comic books by Literary Author.
>>
>>91036009
ahaha

haha ha ha

yeah, people are

>>91036018
and they got the Ostrander mini, but almost no one else used them, which is a shame
>>
>>91035920
thanks OP!

Boomer Jr. was too good for this world

Y'know, I've heard people say they dislike Oracle because it turns Barbara into a plot device style supporting character.

I don't understand how that's a bad thing. Strictly speaking, all characters are plot devices included to drive the story. So why is it a bad thing for Babs to actually serve a valuable and unique role as opposed to being just another cape?
>>
>>91036009

it's pretty fantastic

>>91036068

I think that's just /co/ being stupid.
>>
>>91036085
It's pretty shitty we never got the Oracle in charge of the Suicide Squad story there was plenty of set-up for.
>>
>>91036085
A lot of times Oracle felt like a generic "I can hack anyone, anywhere, in five seconds, and I will randomly show up in books for a panel just to infodump" exposition device

I mean that doesn't negate the good uses of the character or anything but it was annoying

>>91036176
now that would have been fantastic
>>
>>91036176
>>91036196

Can you imagine the reaction if Babs did some of the hardcore shit Waller's pulled
>>
>>91036081
>Boomer Jr. was too good for this world

>They had him feed randos to the zombie dad he barely knew instead of letting him have broventures with Bart.

No part of how Johns got rid of him was acceptable.
>>
>>91036176
>>91036226

Shit, Simone even ended up using Waller to permanently fuck over Spy Smasher, Oracle's "nemesis"
>>
>>91035920
Thanks for posting as always, Storyteller.

>Birds of Prey
>Suicide Squad
This is turning into a bit of a clusterfuck.

Seriously though, play or watch Drakengard 3. It's a fucking trip and a half.

I'm not gonna say it would have been the same Squad but it was the most logical progression at the end of the Ostrander run. Personally I'd die for the Eve Eden runs the Skawd but the Oracle one would also have been great.

And clearly it would be the work of insensitive authors ruining the legacy of the character and what's more shitting on Dozier, Schwartz and Infantino's personal principles of government transparency and criminal justice with integrity

But for real people don't want to accept TKJ now so you'll never get that, and the outcry would be awful if you did. But my Oracle is one who could run with the Suicide Squad.

Why did Simone dislike Spy Smasher so much?
>>
>>91036461
Simone made her for the BoP run, and must have decided years later that having her beat down by the crippled Babs and abandoned by all of her allies was not enough suffering for her
>>
>>91036293
>Spy Smasher
Pfft, everyone knows that The Calculator is Oracle's nemesis. I mean, he's a straight up evil counterpart for fucks sake.

glad someone else was thinking it
